Yep, I'm aware of that, and I'm not looking to step on any toes here. I just got the impression from the previous couple of posts that the Eternal Flame has a somewhat less stringent structure compared to other WC-related tournaments. So I thought I'd float my interest out there, in case a spot needs to be filled - seeing as how I'm not signed up for anything else at the moment, and this seems like a good opportunity to get my feet wet again after being gone for a few years. If not, no hard feelings.

It certainly is less stringent, and it's completely unofficial. Daehanjeiguk ran the first one during WC47 for what were, at the time, eight of the most recent Baptism of Fire winners. Secristan was included because the winners from their year were absent, which has set a precedent for us when it comes to filling out the field. I'm not adverse to reaching farther back if we need to, but since the tournament is somewhat tied into the World Cup -- mainly for RPing purposes -- I'd like to try and keep it to people signed up for the actual thing.

Then again, I'm not exactly in charge of it. After Han's edition, I volunteered to do the next once since I fell off the list of "last eight". Going by that, this edition should have been hosted by Newmanistan, but he's being lame and doing this other thing called the "World Cup." Since that's some kind of supposedly bigger tournament with lots of people and a ridiculous time commitment, I think we can let him off the hook just this once.

Confirmed, on the first pre-qualifying matchday if possible. Schiavonia will now be playing three pre-quilifying frienlies, although none at any other time, as our team are getting on a bit. I will confirm them here later.

Me and fellow co-host The Babbage Islands would like to ask the World Cup Community their opinion on the following:

I have been in contact with Daehanjeiguk since his return, and he has expressed that he would return for World Cup 49 if there was an opening. Since we have that opening created with the ceased to exist Oreington Canada, TBI and myself have agreed between us that we would give this spot to a well-respected member of the community such as Han as he returns to the scene, but that we do not want to do it without the blessing of the community at large. We wouldn't do this for just anyone, but I think that Han, being well-liked by pretty much all of us, if not all of us is worth making an exception for.

We therefore ask for the community's opinion on it.

Seems logical to me. As long as we can add Spruitland to the list as first reserve if anyone else CTEs before the draw. Or anyone else who states their intentions to take part.

I agree, and I repeat what I said before: it's highly likely that more nations will cease to exist before the WC proper. Maybe a second check right now can reveal more examples. So, building a waiting list should be a good solution. Not only with Dae, but also Spruitland and other nations, experienced or not in the WC.

Changing the issue completely, now Cafundéu only has the mid-qualifying spot available for friendlies.

So, just to put it in writing: I confirm that I would like to participate in the World Cup if a place opens up.

But since it looks like we might be able to squeeze into the World Cup after all, that's no longer an issue. Hopefully.

As of current i am still waiting on a confirmation from Sorthern Northland about a Home Friendly during the mid qualifying friendlies. We also still have 1 spot still open in the Fadron Pizza Cup. And since Han will most likely be back we offer the final post friendly to him at our place. Unless of course you would rather play in the FPC and veph can take that last one if he confirms.
