I expect WC49 to start sometime around December 1-4, depending on the exact finish of the Baptism of Fire and the speed of a KPB update. Newmanistan and I have a couple of draft schedules on hold. The most attractive option has qualifying finishing around December 22, then starting the Cup proper right after New Year's. It is possible that we will bump post-qual friendlies into the week between Christmas and New Year's depending on how close to Christmas we get with the qualifying; with 18 matchdays it will take some time.

With the WC 1.5 weeks away, perhaps a roster thread might help build that sense of lip-smacking anticipation?

Also, people may want to start planning out pre-qualifying friendlies. We are willing to do three friendlies per nation in each period: pre, mid, and post. Please TG these to my puppet, West Pocono.

Three friendlies per period is a generous allowance, and it can take some time. Therefore I do ask if people try to stick to matches they really want for their nation; and not for nation A to say to nation B, "Hey look I have an open spot I could fill, so do you, let's do it."

It's named after the late founder of Sarzonia (though the RL person with the same name is the one typing this note). I'll accept anywhere from two to six sign-ups (with Sarzonia and Starbladyia already considered entered into the tournament).
