If it makes you feel better, I don't read the Guardian - I merely like reading 'The Knowledge' on the football section of the webpage.

You might be even more appalled to hear that in fact I subscribe to the Independent....

For the World Cup, you'd want to bid with another user and post a thread in the forum describing, for example, which scorinator you'd use. Baptism of Fire bids, which would also describe which scorinator you'd use, can be posted in this thread, and could be done singly or with another host.

However, people are usually more likely to vote for bids once they've seen that someone can be an active member of the community. It looks like you were in the last Baptism of Fire and World Cup, but more experience with NS Sports is usually a good idea before trying to bid for tournaments. You can sign up for the next World Cup here; once you have even more experience with the World Cup, you'll probably be better prepared to host if you ever decide to do that.

145th now, not a bad jump from 212th.

FIFA: Myanmar (Burma)
ELO: Antigua and Barbuda

And I'll still apply to be a Cup of Harmony participant when the signups start.

You're welcome. However, you can only participate in the Baptism of Fire once, so you won't be eligible for the next one.

Fairly soon after the hosts are selected, I imagine.

Bears Armed 2-8 Somewhereistonia

How much randomness is there in the scorination of this Cup itself, as distinct from its qualifiers? I acknowledge that upsets happen, and realise that Somewhereistonia probably had some sort of 'home crowd' advantage, but even so the sheer scale of that defeat hardly looks believable to me... or to the Bears...

I'm going to do a write-up tomorrow afternoon or evening, so Somewhereistonia has about 18 hours in which to decide -- and post here -- which of the three potential IC explanations for that result I've thought it was that actually happened: Was it _

1. One of your fans, working at the team's hotel, drugged their food so that they were visibly reeling on the pitch?
2. Somebody amongst your authorities (sporting or political) must have bribed the refereeing team, because those sent off several of the Belle's best players on trumped-up charges whilst ignoring roughness/offside/handball by your own players?
3. Somebody machine-gunned the bus that was bringing the Belles to the game, wounding (maybe even, in some cases, killing) a number of first-team players and leaving the rest too busy looking out for further attacks to play very effectively?

What about 4. your team just sucked without there being a conspiracy behind it ;)

/me blames Takil ;)

I know that it is an urge to blame others occasionally, but it was done far too often in the history of the world cup for my tastes. Which is why I try to RP close victories as lucky for us and losses as rightfully deserved by such a crappy team as the Orange-Blues :)
