Postby Qazox » Mon Sep 21, 2009 8:21 pm

WORLD BASEBALL CLASSIC XIII

For the record 5th time, the World Baseball Classic comes to Qazox.

Due to the unusual number of sign-ups (41) Liventia, who asked to be a provisional sign-up, has been TG'd as to their participation. If Liventia is participating, then Prux will be added to make 42 teams (If Liventia is not participating, then there will be 40 teams). If there are 40 teams, there will be 8 groups of 5 teams, with the TOP TWO TEAMS from each group advancing after a double-round-robin group stage. However if there are 42 teams, there will be 6 groups of 7 teams, a single-round-robin with the TOP TWO TEAMS and the 4 best 2nd place teams advancing to the next round. As such the Group draw will not take place until Liventia has responded.

We are accepting rosters and RP's now.

VEPHRALL Auric Wolves
(a work in progress)

Manager #2 Taratchy Fihor
Pitching coach #29 Rilin Sadiques

Venue
With World Cup qualifying having now concluded, Ellime e Vephrall is free to convert over to baseball configuration for its final major tournament. It seats 52,836 in this configuration and is located in the capital city of Meice.

Starting lineup
1. LF #22 Menburid Tingacens — He gets on base and doesn't dilly-dally on his way around them. What more can you ask for in the leadoff guy?
2. 2B #12 Mucar Kadorisone (female) — The team's only female starting position player is so quiet that sometimes teammates forget she's even there, but she's solid at every phase of the game.
3. RF #7 Jing Sytrobes — The most outgoing starter with respect to garnering attention from the media.
4. CF #5 Juchona Taratchy — The team captain has often been found on the practice field at 3 AM in an effort to do whatever it takes for his team to win.
5. C #16 Einy Nastadgus — Swings a big bat and has a cannon of an arm, making up for lack of speed on the basepaths.
6. SS #26 Torossud Hesaramba — There's no "protagonist" on this team, but if there were, it would be this guy. The youngest starter on the team, he is the very definition of "clutch", but he's almost completely useless in relatively unimportant situations, such as the first three or four innings of most games. Formerly played 2B, and is still comfortable there.
7. 1B #20 Parogam Baspaalt — Named vice-captain despite relative inexperience, he's also capable of playing most infield positions.
8. 3B #1 Dings Cuizamed — Very versatile, capable of playing almost any position outside the battery.
9. Pitcher's slot at home; when playing in a DH park, Diors Pagliloe takes this spot.

Bench
IF #24 Diors Pagliloe — It's not entirely accurate to say he's the "newest" member of the team, since none of these players were on Vephrall's previous squad. That said, he's the newest member of the team.
OF #25 Ceedast Scezes — Performs unusually well on the road compared with home games.
IF #63 Meniarol Taclik — The opposite of Scezes in that he's a lot better at his home stadium.
C #17 Rutako Doshese — Doesn't have the ability to throw runners out like he used to, but as one of the most experienced members of the team, he's seen pretty much everything a pitcher might throw at him and isn't liable to make many mistakes.
OF #11 Baspaalt Hahnea — Range isn't great, nor is his arm, but he can definitely hit for average.
IF #32 Angufams Hottotelen — Perhaps best described as a male version of Mucar Kadorisone, only even quieter. Rumor has it that Jabelas Scunt is the only player on the team who has ever heard him speak.

Pitching Rotation
1. RHP #49 Jing Crublig — An ace in every definition of the word, and also capable of being effective out of the bullpen in the unlikely event that the situation should warrant it.
2. LHP #4 Sorn Mantlom — A former 1B, he made the move to the mound after a series of lower body injuries that hampered his ability to run the bases. He's done surprisingly well as a pitcher.
3. LHP #3 Tobamme Limpents (female) — The "tough girl" of the team and probably the team's number one power pitcher.
4. RHP #10 Netgorin Cese — All-around good guy and a solid pitcher.
5. RHP #6 Sytrobes Diors — The token knuckleballer, he'll never be accused of overpowering the batter, but is still likely to cause the batter to throw his bat across the diamond in utter frustration.

Bullpen
LHP #71 Krerite Bunsars (female) — Often described as "insane" by her teammates, and probably the most prone to trash-talk the opposing team.
RHP #41 Gackbang Wilopteere — If you look up "calm" in the dictionary, you'll find a photo of him. In other words, he's the guy to bring in when the bases are loaded with nobody out.
LHP #55 Pranasik Umsaasad — The obligatory team prankster.
LHP #15 Jabelas Scunt (female) — Off the field, known as the most finicky player on the team. On the field, known as the pitcher who always puts the ball exactly where she wants it.
RHP #60 Naehig Sartiros (female) — Deceptively small to the extent that the batter is frequently caught by surprise when she manages to blow a high-powered fastball right by him anyway.

RP Permissions
Please adhere to the given starting rotation. As a general rule, I'd suggest that you follow my standard lineup as well, but that's more flexible – if you can come up with a good reason for a change, have at it. You can also eject or injure my players, but any lingering effects beyond the end of the game will be decided by me. Also, we absolutely, positively do NOT use the designated hitter rule at home. Frankly, we'd rather saw off our own legs with a Swiss army knife. Other than that, it's all up to you.

BARNETTSVILLE BLUE JAYS ROSTER

Postby Barnettsville » Mon Sep 21, 2009 9:35 pm

Barnettsville Blue Jays return to go farther than WBC 12
Technical stuff:
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No
Follow my Pitching Rotation: Yes
Godmod scoring events: Yes
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes, as necessary; if you do, make it interesting.
Godmod other events: No, except for weather. That you can. (I'll most likely stay away from the extraordinarily goofy things this time--i.e. a no-no with 4 runs allowed.)

The Barnettsville national team, fresh off of their first ever World Baseball Classic, return to improve upon their surprising quarterfinal appearance. Not many changes were made, though the few that were made headlines in the sporting media in the country. After the last Classic, the baseball committee decide to rework the team’s moniker, changing from the Hurricanes to the Blue Jays; as such, their colors changed from red and black to blue, white, and black. Manager Chris McCracken was fired, after having been warned regarding his penchant for being thrown out of games. He will be replaced by Tom Gemcity, who was the bench coach in WBC 12. To replace him, Josh Ashbaugh was added to the coaching staff. Also, star pitcher Garry Barnett, Jr. was demoted to the bullpen, unofficially due to his picking up McCracken’s tendency for ejections. Bullpen star Jason Baker was promoted to the starting rotation, and Rick Vaughan was added to the bullpen roster as well. The new-look Blue Jays enter their second WBC campaign looking to build off of their 8-2 group stage record, journey to the quarterfinals, and perfect game by Barnett.

As for the group stage home games, the Jays will once again call City Stadium in our capital city of St. Catherine home. Dimensions will soon follow.

National Baseball Team Annouced

The groups have been drawn and the national Delesian team has been placed in Group Six along with 4th place Taeshan, 17th place Vephrall, and 30th place Delaclava. There is also Seasonia, whom like the Commonwealth is un-placed and is their first appreance on the international scene of baseball.

Yesterday the national team that will represent Delesa at the 13th World Baseball Classic was announced in St. Myhre. Heading the team will be manager Jim F. Hanover who also manages the Toronto Royals in the Allied States of Cesibia, a protectorate of Delesa. Baseball is actually not a sport that the United Commonwealth has a league for as Delesa doesn't compete. So almost all the players on the team hail from all corners of the Commonwealth, with only a handful from Delesa that moved to the colonies or protectorates to play baseball.

"We can only hope for the best," said manager Hanover at the press conference, "this team is the first of it's kind in Delesa and the Commonwealth and well we pulled the best talent we could find on short notice and have had them drilling around the clock trying to prepare them for the Classic." It also said it was expected that the level of play that the international teams play at are far and above any level offered anywhere in the Commonwealth and that a struggle for a qualifying spot would be a bloody uphill battle with little chance, but they do hope and maybe with a little luck...

Players on the team include big names from the Cesibia National League, #35 COREY Mooneyhan who plays for the Toronto Royals with manager Hanover and has won the league MVP once in 2006, and second baseman #15 HERMAN Horst a Delesian native from Port Hustlings who plays for the Yorktown Red Socks also in the Cesibian National League. Up and coming star from the colony of Terra Delesa is #31 RICK Galante, a 19 year old with a cannon of an arm and is currently being scouted by various top level teams in the Colony Baseball League.

Hailing from Group Seven, the Profero Penguins look to assume the role of dark horse, and take the world by storm. "We like playing without pressure - it's great motivation for the guys when everyone looks past us," says manager Trey Rollen. Known for his strong work ethic and principles, Rollen hopes to lead the Penguins to success in their debut year of the Classic. Their ace pitcher, Zack Leinkrum, will get the nod game one. "Yeah, I know it'll be a much tougher match-up than we've ever faced. It's one of those things that you tell yourself, 'just play the game, and the rest will come.' I'm definitely excited," says the ace pitcher. The lefty Leinkrum features a solid two-seam fastball which he uses to provoke ground balls, a sharp-breaking curveball, and a change-up that devastates right-handers.

Bench Coach Johnny Martin
First Base Coach Clem Barker
Third Base Coach Lyle Menifee

Pitching Coach Jim Wiesen

ROSTER

Starting Rotation
34 Brad Baxter (RHP): Nicksia Nighthawks Baxter led the Sarzonian major leagues in wins (17), innings pitched (172) and strikeouts (156).
12 John Morgan (RHP): Woodstock Mountaineers Led the Sarzonia League in victories with 15 and finished fourth in strikeouts with 106.
22 Charlie Palmer (LHP): Portland Fishermen Known for having the best changeup in all of Sarzonian baseball, he was named the first-ever Jim Palmer Award recipient for postseason MVP after leading the Fishermen to a Sarzonia Series crown.
27 Brian Edwards (RHP): Lexington Flight Despite the Flight's last place finish in the Incorporated League, Edwards was an 11 game winner (11-5, 2.67 ERA). He doesn't strike out many and relies on a sinking fastball to get ground ball outs.
40 Ken Sutcliffe (RHP): Portsmouth Pilots Sutcliffe is the veteran of the rotation, turning 41 at the end of the season. He's known for being a heady pitcher but he can still throw the ball past hitters when he has to.

Bullpen
32 Kenny Spencer (RHP): Saugerties Streakers Spencer is arguably the best setup man in the history of the sport in Sarzonia. He has only six saves in his career, but makes a living closing the door in the eighth inning.
29 Jay Ballard (LHP): Nicksia A specialist at getting lefthanded hitters out, Ballard made only one career start in secondary school. He threw a two-hit shutout in the state championship in that start.
33 Roger Tolliver (LHP): Avalon Aeros The lefthanded long reliever for the Aeros, he led the league with most innings pitched by a reliever (79) without making a start. His 38 appearances led the league among all relief pitchers.
17 Kerry Clark (RHP): Woodstock The leader among all of Sarzonian baseball with 29 saves, Clark has a devastating curveball and fastball. He's working on developing a change up.
39 Alvin Dryden (LHP): Rypien Rhinos Dryden is the lefty closer on the national team and will alternate with Clark depending on the opponent. Dryden led his league with 27 saves.
58 Alan Tisdale (switch-pitcher): Woodstock Lists himself as "semi-dextrous" because he's a power pitcher as a righthander, but a finesse pitcher as a lefty.

Position Players (starters in bold)
C 10 Fred Carlton: Grovesmont Gryphons Carlton is the best defensive catcher in Sarzonian baseball. Calls a great game, threw out 44 percent of opposing baserunners. His problem: He hit .227 with only two home runs.
1B 44 Hank Everly: Woodstock Led the Sarzonian League in home runs with 37 and finished tied for second in runs batted in with 105. His batting average of .269 is lower than his coaches want.
2B 8 Dewey Griffin: Avalon The sparkplug for the Aeros, Griffin led both major leagues with 44 stolen bases and nine bunt hits. He was tied for second in the league in sacrifice hits (bunts or flies).
SS 2 Chris Spontanelli: Townshend Tigers: One of the many shortstops in the Cal Ripken mold, Spontanelli led his team with 17 homers and 81 RBI. At 6'5", he's the tallest starting shortstop in Sarzonia.
3B 9 Kate Schmidt: Bristol Bears: The only female to earn a starting spot on the national team, she hit .309 to lead her team and smacked 11 home runs.
LF 19 Tyrell Gordon: Portland Set a record for most outfield assists in college or high school baseball with 133. Had only two outfield assists this season when major league teams decided not to risk running on him.
CF 23 Drew Bradley: Avalon A speedster, Bradley is known for his graceful play in center and led his league in outfield assists with nine.
RF 24 Mark Dwight: Nicksia Not much with speed or a throwing arm, but Dwight specialises in being at the right place at the right time. He led the league with a .361 batting average.

Reserves
OF 36 Skip Hale Woodstock: Hale played in a career-high 44 games for Woodstock due to injuries to other outfielders. He's known as the best pinch hitter in the league and serves as the starting DH when that position is available. He is learning to play first base with rumours circulating that Everly may retire.
OF 7 Tyler Hunter Bristol: Can play either corner outfielder position, but his throwing arm is arguably the worst in the league.
C 13 Mario Salvidotti Avalon: Improving as a receiver, Salvidotti led his team with 21 home runs and 89 RBI.
IF 3 Russ Fraley Bristol Handled his demotion to reserve behind Schmidt with surprising grace and honed his skills as a shortstop so he could play short, third or first. He also is learning how to play second.
IF 5 Bryan Carroll Portland Extremely valuable asset to his team, he can play any position in the infield. Could serve as the emergency catcher if necessary.

Starting lineup (with the DH)
2B Griffin
CF Bradley
SS Spontanelli
1B Everly
DH Hale
3B Schmidt
RF Dwight
LF Gordon
C Carlton

Courezzia Train for WBC 13 in Qazox

Reported by Greg Saelent,

This morning, our native Courezzian Catchers have travelled to Qazox to check out what teams they are against. Their manager, Cristian Aguero, who is also the football team manager, said this when he arrived:

"To be serious, this isn't exactly your 'gentleman's sport', but it's great to be in Qazox, always admired the place!"

He has cast his players on page 34 in this issue of The C-Sport Star, and there is a special on the teams in WBC 13 on page 67.

Taken from a radio broadcast

"Hello, and you are here, listening to radio Dimoniquid, time for some baseball banter, okay, listener number one, you are on the air!"

"Hi John, I just wanted to say, Dale Robinson is so hot! Also, he should be a pitcher, I mean he sends that ball like, oh my god!"

"Okay, well, he may be changed, but we don't know! It'll all come down to what the manager and coaches think. Anyway, thanks for sharing your thoughts, any shout outs?"

"No thanks, bye!"

"Bye, okay, listener number thirteen, we're all ears!"

"Hi John, Dale should of been out last season, I mean, did you see that pitch! That shoulda' been out!"

"Very true, although it wasn't out! It wasn't, there was a replay, it wasn't!"

"It was!"

"Wasn't! It wasn't!"

"Well, I think that. Anyway, the squad for the world classic is one hell of a squad, I mean, we've got James Libers as manager, you've got Dale, Jeff H, the three time back to back champion on the seasons, and he was the only person to get set up a clean sweep! I mean, first base, second base, third base, then he gets the home run? OMG! And James knows his tactics, man!"

"Damn straight boy, damn straight. Anyway, we'll be back after this song."

X Island Inquirer

With 40 teams entered in the 13th World Baseball Classic it is no wonder that for the elite teams this year may end up to have one of the easiest first rounds of baseball. With the 8 Groups of 5 teams announced yesterday it seems that more teams may lead to less competition, unless some of the higher teams fail in this coming sseason i don't see many Darkhorses making their way to the next round. In the end only the rnaked teams seem to figure into this equation as only one group has only two and the others all have 3. New teams beware it most likely is not your year.

That said we don't know yet as the season has not begun, yet i can pretty much assure a second round berth for the Purple Knights. The four other teams in their group are 17th ranked Vephrall, 30th Ranked Delaclava and the unranked sides from Delsea and Seasonia Sure even we loss some throw away games, but this is looking to be the easy track we may have ever had, or ever will have. It would seem to me that the coming weeks will just have to serve as a tune-up for the finals.

Schedule
VS Vephrall
@ Delaclava
Vs Seasonia
@ Delsea
BYE
@ Seasonia
@ Vehprall
Vs Delaclava
BYE
VS Delseas

And what preaseason artcile would not be complete without my predictions. They are as follows, In Group 1 Secristan and Milchama easily qualify, as does Newmanistan in Group two,, the Babbage Islands will barely make it through that Group as well. Group 3 sees Tocrowkia and Steroga advance. Group4 will see Zwangzug and Sarzonia make it through. Group 5 sees Qazox and Dancougar through, whilst Taeshan will win our group, and Veprhall will straggle into the next round. Yafor 2 and Barnetsville will make it out of Group 7, While Cassadaigua and Quintessence of Dust will round the Round of Sixteen.

Roster

Infielders:
  • Greg Monroe #31 (1B)
  • Matt Jarvis #15 (2B)
  • J.P. Abrams #45 (SS)
  • Steve Skooler #10 (3B)
  • LeMarcus Hughes #13
  • Avery Adams #11

Outfielders:
  • Jack Kutz #30 (RF)
  • J.J. Wright #16 (CF)
  • Johnny DeJesus #24 (LF)
  • Fernando Juarez #2
  • Aryke Kinge #99

Catchers:
  • Manny Kopeland #4
  • Derrick Fine #81
  • Todd Keesyne #22

Following the above list, The Profero Sun has obtained official information released by manager Trey Rollen for the opening match-up, versus 8th-ranked Yafor II. Every day until the inaugural match-up (September 26th, 7:10 PM), The Profero Sun will feature three exclusive player biographies. See below for the first entries!

Starting Rotation:
  • Zack Leinkrum (LHP)
  • Leonard Pugh (RHP)
  • Tommy Maddox (LHP)
  • Zang Liu (RHP)

Line-up:
1. CF J.J. Wright (S)
2. 2B Matt Jarvis (L)
3. 3B Steve Skooler (S)
4. 1B Greg Monroe (L)
5. RF Jack Kutz (R)
6. LF Johnny DeJesus (L)
7. C Manny Kopeland (S)
8. SS J.P. Abrams (R)
9. P Zack Leinkrum (L)

Zack Leinkrum: The opening match-up will feature the ace of the rotation on the mound, Zack Leinkrum. The tall lefty has overpowering stuff, but struggles with control from time to time. A two-time winner of the prestigious PBL Pitcher of the Year award, Leinkrum brings experience. Son of the former manager of the Darlington Dusters, he's pitched since the age of five. Featuring a fastball that reaches the upper 90's, Leinkrum will look to get ahead early and go to the hook or changeup on two-strike counts. In PBL play, Leinkrum posted a 12-2 record with 124 strikeouts and an ERA of 2.74, for the Jamesville Jaguars. Leinkrum is 27 years old, and has played 4 years in the PBL.

Johnny DeJesus: Johnny DeJesus is not known for over-bearing power, great contact, or his speed - but he's a guy you want in the line-up day in and day out. His strong work-ethic, coupled with great range and a great arm in the outfield make him a valuable player for any organization. DeJesus hit .296 with 5 HR's, 46 RBI's, and 5 SB's in PBL play for the Northern Profero Pirates. DeJesus is 29 years old, and has played 6 years in the PBL.

J.J. Wright: The blazing-fast centerfielder for the Penguins has been described as the best base-stealer in PBL history. A small-town boy, Wright passed up a football and basketball scholarship to play in the PBL. Wright is known as the premier lead-off batter in all of Profero Baseball League. In PBL play last season, Wright hit .334 with 4 HR's, 34 SB's, 38 RBI's, and a Profero League-leading 37 doubles. Wright holds a franchise-record for the most lead-off doubles in a single season for the Darlington Dusters, with 8. Wright is 26 years old, and has played in the PBL for 6 years.

Postby Sarzonia » Tue Sep 22, 2009 5:58 pm

As new Sarzonia national baseball team manager Khalil Dennis assessed his team on the final day before their flight from Woodstock International Jetport, he sat lost in thought.

He wanted to do away with the designated hitter and have Sarzonia's pitchers hit, but then he realised he'd have to find a way for Skip Hale to enter the starting lineup. With the big bats of Hank Everly, Chris Spontanelli and Kate Schmidt, having Hale in there consistently would give Sarzonia a lineup that would be tough on pitchers.

Dennis was well prepared. He'd spent several years in his native Delaclava preparing for his moment in the sun. He didn't have any idea that his moment would come in a foreign country. Yes, these Sarzonians spoke English. But it was a different style of English, one with a rather curious blend of influences.

His meetings with third baseman Kate Schmidt didn't start off well. He knew her reputation as a temperamental figure on the team and he wanted to project calm. He very nearly asked the Sarzonian baseball federation to remove her from the roster, but a forceful speech from third base coach Lyle Menifee turned things around. They wouldn't be close, but at least they could coexist.

Dennis's only changes to the team so far were moving righthander Brad Baxter to the No. 1 starter's spot in the rotation and adding "switch pitcher" Alan Tisdale to the bullpen.

"Alan gives us some flexibility," Dennis said, explaining the move. "We can use him four, five days in a row if we need to. He can also show different looks within the same game."

As for the rotation, Dennis's decision knocked John Morgan down to the second spot in the rotation, but he said the move was intended to get Sarzonia's two best starters higher in the rotation.

"We know we're going to have some tough games in the future," Dennis said. "Hopefully, we'll have our best starters in the games we need them to be in."

Dennis warned assembled media against taking their Group 4 competition outside of world No. 2 Zwangzug lightly.

"We know newcomer countries can make an impact in the World Baseball Classic," he said. "We advanced to the knockouts in our first competition. Sibirsky is making an impact in the sporting world. Antarcticstan made serious strides in soccer. kenavt has played in the postseason in the Classic."

Even though kenavt barely made a dent in postseason in that prior classic, first baseman Hank Everly said the team would work as hard as ever.

"We're playing for a new manager," Everly said. "It's unfortunate that [former manager Jim Paulsen] lost his job, but we're excited with the direction [Khalil Dennis] will take the team in."

After another early flameout, Qazox once again attempts to retool in search for its 4th title. At home this time around, Qazox seeks to become only the 2nd team ever to win a WBC at home.

Head Coach: Frank Dannen

STARTING LINEUP: (Bats/Throws)

RF- Juan Thames R/R: (Speed demon with good arm, but little pop in bat)
2B- Reggie Stocker L/L: (5-tool player, does everything well, but has tendency to strikeout a bit)
LF- Matt Swanson S/R: (Good pop in bat, slightly average throwing arm and a bit lacadasickal in OF)
3B- Ryan Griffen R/R: (averaged 30 HR in the NQBL last 4 years, adequate fielder, will commit an error or two)
1B- Greg Hammond L/L: (Great fielder at first base, but only average power at plate)
SS- Victor Davies S/L: (Great fielder, average bat, but hustles on every play)
C- Frank Montez R/R: (Great arm and hits to every field, but is a bit slow on the basepaths)
CF- David Johnsen R/R: (Adequate bat, great fielder and arm in Center, decent speed)
    P- (see below)

NOTE: In games in which the DH is used, the DH (Mike Haynes) will bat 5th, and everyone else will drop down a spot in the order.

STARTING PITCHING:
Brianna Hayes LHP: (Qazox' first female starting pitcher, throws a 95 mph fastball, and has a great 11-5 curve and a decent slider.)
Henry Cobb RHP: (Crafty pitcher, has great control. Has great circle-change, knuckle-curve and a running fastball.)
Charles Ukecas LHP: (Great 2-seamer and change-up, his curve does get hit a bit.)
David O'Hannaran RHP: (Good 4-seam fastball that tops out at 94, a decent curve and changup. Will throw a knuckleball on occasion, which usually gets crushed.)

BENCH:
DH/OF- Mike Haynes: (A great slugger, but a bit of a liability in the field)
INF- Erica Jones: (Quick hands in the field, can play anywhere, decent bat, but no power)
OF- Rene Charles: (Nice pop in bat, and some speed too, but has below average fielding skills)
C- Derek Oliver: (Just like Frank Montez, but a bit quicker on the basepaths, and can be run on)

BULLPEN:
LRP: Greg Hansen- LHP (Good fastball, hittable curve and changeup. Used in blowouts)
MRP: Charlotte Aspen- RHP (Good slider and 2-seamer, adequate curve. Used in close games)
SU: Vic Troyius- RHP (Great slider and changeup. Ok fastball that can be hit)
Closer: Eric Davidson- RHP (Has 100mph fastball and a nasty cut fastball)

Choose my scorers: YES
Keep my Rotation: YES
DH in home park: NO
Ejections: No more than one a game.
Injuries: No more than one a game.

Qazox will use National Stadium, Fromburg for it's home games.

The Secristan Department of Sports released the teams official roster this evening. Players still have to bid for their positions, but the SDOS this time may or may not have accidentally lost the bids of unproven high-bidders in favor of second or third bidders who may be much better. The resulting roster is listed below.

The SDOS would also like to remind people of the following:

DH?: Yes! (Only because it was one more spot the SDOS could hold an auction for and make money on).
Choose my runscorers: Yes
Choose my lineup: No, it is here.
Follow my Pitching Rotation: No, we use a 5-man rotation so it shouldn’t be hard to figure out who starts.
Godmod scoring events: Yes
RP injuries to my players: Yes, but I will determine how bad it is.
Godmod injuries to my players: No
Eject my players: Yes
Godmod other events: Yes to fights, brawls, charging the mound, arrogant player or fan behavior and weather. No to anything else.

The winning stadium bidder to host out home games is:
Megabyte Industries Stadium- Located on the shores of the Penthoria River in Western Secristan in the city of East Penthoria, the 63,000-seat stadium has the best backdrop of all of our stadiums. East Penthoria is known for some nice beachfront property, and only the upper class can afford to live here.
Dimensions: LF: 344, LCF: 362, CF: 389, RCF: 374, RF: 353

Head Coach: John Michaelson (61): Coached in WBC 8, 10-12. He was outbid in #9.

Rotation: (Age/Throws/Bats)
Steve Jamison (34, L/L)- Hard throwing southpaw. If this spot were given out on merit, he would still be the ace and has been on the roster since we began in WBC 7. He was named to the “All-World” Team prior to World Baseball Classic 11 by Newmanistanian media. WBC 13 will be his final WBC.

Matthew Courville (24, L/L)- This young hard throwing lefthander could be another Jamison in the making. He flashed that potential in WBC 11 when he began. It will be important for him to have a strong showing because he will likely be our ace in the next one.

Brendan O’Sullivan (23, R/R)- Brendan makes his second appearance on the team after an impressive collegiate career. His presence may ease any pressure on Courville because he too, could become the ace. He can bring the heat, but his curveball is his money pitch.

Kyle Flannery (25, R/R)- Kyle makes his WBC debut after a couple of unsuccessful bids in the prior two. He should be a fine back end of the rotation pitcher who earns his keep with a nasty slider/sinker combination.

Johnny Carpenter (28, R/R)- This will be the third WBC in a row that Carpenter, a true workhorse, pitches in the five spot with his slider/curveball combination. He will never wow you when he is on the mound but he just always seems to get the big outs when he needs them.

Bullpen:
Francisco Martinez (33, LHP)- THE CLOSER. Martinez has been the closer since WBC 9 and still gets the job done. Generally only goes one inning, but is capable of going two. He can hit 102 MPH, and mixes in a nasty circle change.

Michael McKeon (36, RHP)- SET UP MAN. McKeon is also a closer by trade, however instead of attempting to compete with Martinez in bidding for that role, Michael has settled on the 8th inning set-up man role, and he has done this since WBC9. He did close in WBC 8. Has developed good chemistry with Martinez on the national team.

Chad Jarvis (33, RHP)- Short reliever. Probably a 7th inning guy when used. He has a pretty wicked cutter. Third appearance.

Nicholas Gillette (26, RHP)- Situational shortman. No more then one inning. If you RP first, the best situations for him would be in the 7th or 8th innings when we are trailing by two or less (maybe 3 if it’s a high scoring affair).

Dominick Peluso (31, LHP)- Versatile, will be used in any situation with preference to middle innings.

Andrew Tomberlin (32, RHP)- Teammate of Jamison’s at the club level, Andrew has gradually improved with age and makes his second appearance. He’s to be used as a long reliever (i.e. situations where we would pull a starter in the 5th inning or prior).

Julio Astacio (21, LHP)- Amazing fastball. Once he gets his control issues ironed out, he will be a star. Could, in the long run, be an heir apparent to Martinez or McKeon, but for now he’ll be plugged in whenever needed. He will normally be one of Michaelson’s last choices, though.

Starting Lineup (using DH) (Age, Throws/Bats)
1) Jason Carlin- CF (32, L/L) Speedster, prototypical leadoff batter. Has been on the team since WBC 9, bouncing between starting in center or in left.
2) Jonas Kindlan- LF (26, R/S) Speedster, a bit more raw then Carlin overall, but his development is going pretty well and clicks well with Carlin. Very popular with young female fans and is in his third WBC.
3) Eddie Forte- SS (26, R/R)- Doubles-type hitter, has tremendous discipline. Gold-glove caliber fielder. Moved up in the lineup from #6 to #3. Could be dangerous ahead of the big guns.
4) Manny “ManRod” Rodriguez- DH (35, L/S)- Explosive power hitter. Would you expect anything less from someone named this? Sometimes tempermental. It’s his 5th WBC. Insists the rumors of his steroid use are not true. Due to some ahem, medication, age is just a number with him.
5) John Fusco- 1B (33, R/S)- In his 6th WBC, John has great power himself and his presence means you can’t just pitch around “ManRod” all day. He is also an active trash talker.
6) Adrienne Hornicek- SS (27, L/L)- Adrienne becomes the first female to ever successfully win an auction to start. She doesn’t have much power, but she can hit for a .340 or so batting average which makes her very useful to “clean up the bases” after the big bats. Should get many RBI’s.
7) William Sutliffe- RF (25, R/S)- Up-and-coming talent, may be a five-tool player in the long run.
8) Mick O’Rourke- 2B (27, R/S)- Hits for average. Defensive wizard.
9) Kip Kircher- C (34, R/R)- Excellent hitter, but could use improvement behind the plate. Was a pleasant surprise in his WBC 11 debut and our fans will be hoping for more of the same.

Without DH, the lineup is:
1) Carlin- CF
2) Kindlan- LF
3) Forte- SS
4) Rodriguez- RF
5) Fusco- 1B
6) Hornicek- SS
7) O’Rourke- 2B
8) Kircher- C
9) Pitcher

Bench:
Lenny Jackson- C (25, L/L)- Seen as a potential future starter at the position, but this will still be his third WBC as a backup.

Jose Ortiz- 1B/3B (26, R/R)- Has a lot of power but needs to learn how to stop striking out so much.

Chris Ainsley- 2B/SS (20, R/S)- Outstanding defensive middle infielder, and the bat is respectable, as last season he hit .279 with 8 HR’s. Those numbers are expected to rise as he gets older. He has great wheels, too. This is his first WBC.

Bill Woodson- OF (27, L/S)- Somewhat like Ortiz in that he has great power, but is strikeout prone. But not as prone as Oritz. Despite age, this is his WBC debut.
WINNER of the 1st International Basketball Championships, 7th Di Bradini Cup, & the 4th World Lacrosse Championships!
RUNNERUP in Baptism of Fire 30 and World Baseball Classic 10.
HOST of World Bowl 6, International Basketball Championships 6, and Baptism of Iron 6. (Hosting a 6th version of something? Call us.) Also, World Baseball Classic 12 and World Lacrosse Championships 3.
Qualified for World Cups 49-52.

All arrogant, stuck-up, conceded or whatever comments I make in roleplay are always in-character and should not be interpreted as also being the out-of-character attitude of the person controlling the nation. My nation is my attempt to mock people I have to deal with often at work.
