"Match Point. Switzida serve." And I did. He returned it, which started a long rally. Forehand...Backhand...Left...Right...Sidespin...Topspin... Finally, the point was over. I had won. Won for me... and my team.

I was hyped, to say the least. The stress was getting to me serve after serve, obstruction after obstruction, point after point. I was on edge the whole time, I was never calm; but I hung in there. I made sure to keep my lead; I couldn't live with knowing my game could have forced a loss for my team. There was something about us all, as weird as it was; we were joined together by Ping Pong. By the time half the game was over I was sweating uncontrollably . When the game was over, I found myself in tears on the floor. I couldn't believe it, I had won. Vettrera was 1-0, and I had brought us there. My teammates congratulated me, it was all too much. I had gotten a taste of Victory; not the usual kind I got back in Vettrera. This was different, like I was making a difference.

Some men are remembered for being great ping pong players, others for being great men who happen to play ping pong. There are those, however, who are remembered for doing very weird, arguably stupid things.

The Karladal ping pong player with the initials W.H.N. is one of these people. The attention-loving star ping-pong athlete first gained renown during the Ayalis World Olympics last October, where he single-handedly (literally) defeated the champion of Penguunada to take the platinum seal for Karlada. Since then, he has changed his name. The player formerly known as Alyamad Robanarde is now officially and legally called Watz Hiz Naym. (pronounced What's his name). When asked why he would do such a thing, he simply said, in his immortal words and infinite wisdom, "For the lulz."

He enjoys celebrity life. He can frequently be found partying in his penthouse apartment overlooking the South Sea in the beautiful city of Uni Elegamos. Never before has such an ostentatious figure appeared in Karladal ping pong history, and only time will tell if he can hold Karlada's current lead in the tournament.

Olivaro Fraydarsak hung his head in disappointment and shame. A close match, but a loss nonetheless had been brought to Karlada. Vettreta's player had proved to have more sleight of paddle in the end. Watz Hiz Naym became angry at his teammate for the loss, and the lost place as first in the tournament. It wasn't over though, not by a long shot. They could recover, they would recover, from this setback. Karlada shall have its championship!

*Newsclip*

Now on to sports. The UKS cheered its national Ping-Pong team on as they won their first game in three games. Their record is 1-2, which leaved room for improvement. Now as for star players-- Aw, who am I kidding? Almost no one thinks we'll win except me.
*Hangs head as he unbuttons shirt to reveal a UKS Ping-Pong Shirt*
*Crewmen laugh and shout, 'Nerd!' *
Am I the only one in this studio that doesn't care for soccer or rugby?
*Voices offscreen shout, 'YEAH!!'*
That's the news, everyone. I think I'll just go home now and sulk and moan and watch Oprah and eat ice cream-flavored popcorn and mope around and throw my TV out the window and then drive my car off a cliff and then. . .

Watz Hiz Naym defended the honor of his... name, and restored Karlada to it's rightful place on top of the ping pong universe today by defeated the formerly unbeaten Ripcity. He was quoted after the close victory:

"Close? I was just toying with him till the end, to tell the truth. No one is better at ping pong than me, and that's the way it's going to stay. All of Karlada knows my name, and soon, nations everywhere will know it too! Children everywhere from Vettreta to Soviet Canuckistan will wear ping pong jerseys with the name Watz Hiz Naym on them!"

I'm none other than Trenapaha Ahotay, the morale visier of Karlada, and I will be here bringing you the latest from the World Team Ping Pong Championships till the end. I wish Watz Hiz Naym and ALL our players the best of luck!

UKS Ping Pong Team Making Comeback

The UKS Ping Pong team has had a record of falls and failures as the WTPPC 2012 Championship continues. But, the UKS team won their game against Switzdia, bumping their record to 2-2, a shock to all the UKS, as no one thought they would win again. Now the unlikely team has the entire nation backing it up, as they face the next game in the championship.

Trenapaha Ahotay responded to questions after the most recent match:

What does this victory mean for Karlada in this tournament? "It's just more proof of how strong of contenders we are. We have a very good chance of advancing to the finals, if not winning the entire tournament itself. I see us playing Vettreta in the finals most likely."

What is the greatest challenge ahead in this round? "We've faced most of the strongest teams already. Of those that remain, Switzida seems to be the strongest, but I don't think we will have any problems."

Do you have a message for any fans out there? "Stay proud, stay in school, and stay watching. We love you all!"

*Newscast*

As you can see and definitely hear, Bob, this Ping Pong stadium is packed and ready for the UKS win!

Yes, Derek, and the final serve is up to play. He serves it-- UKS player lobs it back, returned by the other player. . .

And the UKS player dives-- snaps it back-- Yes!! Yes!!! The UKS has won over The Everflowing!!!

All the people are rushing out of the stands. . . Yes, the winning UKS player is being lifted up and carried by his teammates!

Wow!! Unbelievable!!! This is just like that part in Rocky!

What?

You know, like in Rocky, and Rocky beats Apollo, and he's being lifted up and all that!

No, Derek, this isn't like that at all.

Now all we need is the UKS Player to yell, Adrian! Adrian!!!

Well, I think my partner here is a bit confused, so we'll see you next time on UKSSN!

And then have a rematch, and then the big blond dude comes, and. . .

Fighting for More Than A Title

That's exactly what's going on in Vettrera. The Vettrera National Ping-Pong Team (a.k.a the Waves) isn't just putting all their effort into winning the "World Team Ping Pong Championship"; they're trying to keep alive the sport. In the nation of Vettrera less than 8% of the population plays ping-pong. The Waves are trying to raise awareness about the sport and hopefully get more young people into the game. "I don't want our sport to die out in Vettrera. Vettrera's a domestically competitive country; every sport has teams competing for the national title. And every sport is competing against the other sports for attention. " says team member DeMarcus Thompson. The team is making good on their promise so far, with a 4-1 record

Olivaro Fraydarsak more than redeemed himself today in the eyes of his teammates and his fans by gaining a very impressive win over Switzida that guarantees Karlada's advancement in the tournament. Now, Watz Hiz Naym will be facing off against Everflowing, who are ranked last in the standings. Only complacency can lose the day for him.

*Live from the UKS locker room*

"I can't believe it!" *Throws towel across room.*
"-Sigh.- Believe what, Frank?"
"That game was a laughingstock! We barely put up a fight against Vettera!"
"So what should we do about it, Frank?"
"I say we should bulk up on offense! Take the initiative and shoot back at any opposition! Then, we should--"
"FRANK!" *Stands up and looks Frank eye-to-eye. "Don't you know what I go through? I go through you! I go through your crap every day! Don't you think I want to win, too? I don't stop around like you do. I can, but I don't."
*Silence.*
"Now you just get changed and get some rest, because tomorrow, you'd better bring it." *Walks past Frank and out of the locker room.*

To be continued.

Trenapaha Ahotay, Karlada's Morale Visier on KSN (Karladal Sports Network):

"Karlada is back in first place in the World Team Ping Pong Championship! Watz Hiz Naym has done it again, pulling out a stunning match against The Everflowing that set the tone for the rest of the day. Now Karlada is set to face off against Vettreta again, the ONLY team to have beaten them. This championship promises to be the most exciting ping pong play we have yet seen. I CAN'T WAIT! ... anyways, here's Watz Hiz Naym now. A few words to the fans?"

"There's a reason why I'm first in the line-up. Two words: Shock-and-Awe. Technically that's three words, but only two of them are important. Basically what I'm tryin' to say is, you see all these guys comin' in with their fancy spin and unreadable paddles, then I come up to the table, and WAM BAM ZIPPITY BOP, the ball goes right past them so fast they have no clue what hit them... or the ball. Basically, I get 'em scared, then they panic and can't take my teammates after me... and they can't take me either, but that goes without saying... except I said it."

"Any words about the upcoming championship?"

"Uh, yeah right. We are going to win. That is all that needs to be said about that."

"Thank you, Watz Hiz Naym. For you folks back home, make sure you don't miss it. I don't care if there's a basketball game that day, this is going to be the championship, you hear? You can watch basketball afterwards... and please do! For now, just go home and spend time with your kids... but I suppose you are probably at home watching this at the TV... so just go spend time with your kids. I suppose you may be at a sports bar watching this, in which case, make sure you are not drunk, then go home, then spend time with your kids. If you are drunk, don't drive, just stay where you are or get someone else to drive you home, but in that case don't spend time with your kids, just go to sleep and wait for the hangover to pass, then go to work, then go home and spend time with your kids. Got all that? Good! In case you haven't realized, this is not a very busy hour for Karladal television. To prove my point, we have the bi-annual Kundauhn beaver chuck coming up next. For all you drunk people still at sports bars who do not have designated drivers and are too far from home to walk... this should be perfect for you. I mean, you are already drunk, right? The fact that you are still listening to me talk here shows that you can be entertained by just about anything right now, including an add for dental floss, coming up riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight now!"

A huge celebration was held among all the ping pong lovers and fans of Karlada. The press swarmed around the victorious players, gathering quotes and comments, biographies and more. Autographed ping pong balls and paddles hit record sales, and the sport is more popular than ever.
Most assuredly, no one will forget the name of Watz Hiz Naym, Olivaro Fraydarsak, or Omand Bhaelal, the great champions of the game.
KSN's broadcast of the event was the most watched ping pong event in the history of Ayalis, and will be replayed over the years.

Karlada congratulates everyone who entered the tournament, and Vettrera in particular for the finish to competition.
