Phoenix Win Pre-World Cup Game Against Arroza 34-16

Playing in their First game since the Baptism of Iron, the Phoenix needed a solid win in order to give them some momentum going into the World Bowl. This game ended up being a prefect warm up, and we came out on top 34-16. This is the first time I've seen the 4-4 defense in a very long time, and thankfully for Arcatea, they found the weakness of the 4-4.... Giving up big plays both on the ground and the Air. The Offensive line for the Phoenix gave TJ Peters a few big seams which allowed Peters to end with 102 yards and 1 TD. Tim Millen ended the game with 307 yards through the air and 3 TDs, and Backup QB Matthew Jump came in on a few Wildcat plays and had 28 yards on the ground.

The Defense played great, and only allowed one Touchdown, against the Flex Option. They also had 2 big stops in the red zone which both ended with Fieldgoals rather than in the endzone. Adam Mason led the Defense with 10 tackles. We got to see some big time tackles from new National team player Darius Little, who didn't play in the BoI because he wasn't originally considered for the national team. Little was brought onto the team because of the loss of Johnson Place, who broke his femur during the final game of the BoI against E-lands. Little is slowly becoming a huge part of this defense, by completely shutting down the very little amount of passing attack that Arroza had.

Tomorrow they will be starting the World Bowl, on a bye, followed by a game at Thatius.

I think we are all grateful that the NFL labor dispute during the off-season did not cut-off this season the way I am doing with MD1 RP right now.

It's kind of a heady feeling lining up next to a star like Miles.

Don't misunderstand; I ain't hero-worshipping anyone, but it's hard enough to get a starting spot as a rookie if you're on an awful team without anyone who's any better than you are, but all have more experience. It's even harder to make it onto the top of the depth chart as a rookie if there's actually good competition. And then it's damn near impossible when you've got at least one All-Star-level player in the hunt, with others who are comparable.

But hey, I made it. And there I was, lined up for my third game with the national team for our first game in group play. I heard Miles calling out an audible. "Bend Rover, Clean Will, Clean Sam. On the tights. Mike's checking, Mike's checking." I watched him wander up behind nosetackle Theo Laansur and pat him on the hip farthest from me. "Bend Rover" meant I was blitzing, and Theo was opening up a hole for me. Miles fell back into line, glanced at me, and nodded.

"SET...HIKE!" The opposing quarterback, Jackson Villa, caught the snap out of shotgun formation. I guess they wanted to get throwing early. Sure enough, Theo plowed into the front three in the offensive line and a nice gap for me opened up. Even as I'd been observing, I'd gotten a running start, and I slipped through the gap, throwing a rip to get by a guard.

Oops, looks like I'd read wrong; their running back, Peterson Farragut was trying to work his way upfield. A draw gone horribly wrong. I threw my hips and tackled him, not even stopping as I took him down. I kept running and I pumped a fist. You don't get a tackle for loss every play. I jogged back into the line up and Miles nodded and chuckled. "Bastard didn't even know what hit 'em, did he, Lindburgh?"

I shook my head. "Apparently not. They almost caught us with the draw, though." Miles looked thoughtful.

"Well, now, we'll just have to remember that, now won't we? I think they're gonna pass this down. It's third and long for 'em. It's an obvious passing down. I'll watch the run. Same as last time." I nodded as he said it, and then we both turned around to the whole defense.

"Echo! Echo!" It was the call for the same defensive play. We'd been expecting pass last time, so...

The ball was snapped, and I began my blitz. Villa must have gotten the pass off fast, though, because I saw Theo Laansur reach a big hand up and swat at it. It tumbled through the air and landed in the hands I'd extended as I felt opportunity knocking. I put my head down, tucked the ball in, and prepared to take a big hit.

Which is why I was really surprised when I came out the other side of the big scrum in the middle. Villa saw me, comprehension flashing in his eyes just a little too late; he tried to dive after me to get a hand on me, tackle, anything to keep the ball from going back the other way. Unfortunately for him, I just stiff-armed him and kept running. I guess the rest of the defense must have just picked up blocks right then, because I ran untouched the rest of the way into the opponent's endzone. Touchdown us!

That was one of five we scored that day. Danyl Wyndhorst got 21 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns, and Leif threw 22/26 for 284 yards and two more touchdowns. On defense, I was part of an effort that kept them from ever finding the endzone, and we took the group lead on day one. Basically, hell yeah.

MD One Done, Not Looking Good

Match Day one of the 16th addition of the World Bowl concluded and it didn't start off very well for the West Guiana national team who lost 17 to 29 by a very good Beldonia team.

Jack: Not looking good thus far, but hey everyone remember this this is just one game out of 12 we still have a chance to rebound.
Allie: Not really Jack look at the teams that are in Group 1 with us, Civil Citizenry, The Babbage Islands and Bluth Corporation. Now that is some stiff competition we are facing, I think a 29-17 loss is fairly good compared to what we might get killed by latter on.
Jack: Allie Being our first attempt at the World Bowl I too am not very optimistic, but we've done farily well in other sports for our first try, not including the World Cup winning only 2 two games. Our first time in the World Lacrosse Championship we got all the way to the quarterfinals, not bad.
Allie: But Jack you're forgetting that we were in a bad group the second place in the group advanced with a record of 4-5, not saying much.
Jack: Whatever Allie. With 11 games still to be played and three very well known teams in our group, My prediction is that we may just go 6-6, not advancing any further, but still doing very well.
Allie: Doing well, I don't think having your quarterback getting picked 3 times fumbling once and getting sacked four times is doing well. We were shut out in the second half allowed a safety in the fourth quarter. Just think we were tied at 17 at the half and gave up 12 points in the second half.
Jack: Yes that is doing fine, but after half time the defense at lest stepped up to the plate, allowing only that 12 points. The offense seemed to quit. But eh.

The Imperials Get Shocked And Awed

In front of 102,000 football-crazed fans, the Chrinthani National Football teams gets blown out of the water by Darmen. In a slaughter that began from the first drive, Chrinthanium seemed to be out of focus, undisciplined, and just plain bad. It started when Darmen won the coin toss and took the opening drive down the field. A 10-play, 87 yard drive which ended with a touchdown by Darmen running back Neal Anderson. The Imperials went three-and-out on their next drive and on the punt, Darmen returned it for another touchdown. With the score at the end of the first quarter 14-0 in favor of Darmen, coach Norbert knew he had to do something.

Chrinthanium managed to stop Darmen in the opening minutes of the second quarter and force a punt after Defensive End Kevin Brooking sacked Darmen Quarterback Dennis Caldrige and force a punt. Quarterback Shane Reynolds lead the Imperials down the field on a 17-play 8:19 second drive using dink-and-dunk passing. The drive was capped off by the 10 yard touchdown pass from Reynolds to WR Bolden, making the score 14-7. On the ensuing drive, Darmen QB Caldridge would throw an interception to Cornerback Kyran Phillips, who would return it to the Darmen 35 yard line. The Darmen defense stiffened, forcing Chrinthanium to kick a 50-yard field goal. 14-10 Darmen at the half. However, that would be as close as the score ever would be.

In the third quarter, Reynolds would throw two inteceptions which would be returned for touchdowns, giving Darmen a 28-10 lead at the end of the third quarter. Reynolds, who had to play through calls by the fans to be replaced by Lance Newsome, would be completely ineffective. Darmen essentially had their way in the fourth quarter, but the Chrinthanium defense would prevent them from breaking the plane. Darmen would have to settle for 4 field goals in the 4th quarter, giving them a commanding 40-10 victory.

After the game, Coach Norbert stated in his press conference, "Getting out of the group stage will be flippin' difficult if we can't even score more than one touchdown. We played like a high school team against an all-star team. We have to do better or else we might as well just go home. I'm sick and disgusted with this performance, and I blame myself for it all. We were simply outplayed and out coached."

Chrinthanium has a bye on Matchday 2. The Imperial's next game will be against Miley World on Matchday 3.

Chrinthanium Stat Leaders:

QB Shane Reynolds: 28/50 297yds 1TD 3INT, 59 rush yards
RB: Tanner Revis: 21 carries, 77 yards
WR Kai Bolden: 4 receptions, 89 yards, TD
DE Keith Brookings 1.0 Sacks
CB Kyran Phillips, INT Reception

Western Cuba comes into World Bowl XVI with Win

QB Antonio Freeman prepares to snap the ball in First Quarter Action against Joneslind.

#145 Western Cuba 7 0 0 14 21
#134 Joneslind 6 7 3 0 16

Cassadaigua--- After a heartbreaking lose against Miley World. In which Western Cuba melted down after leading by 10 points Western Cuba came back winning against #134 Joneslind by a score of 21-16. Joneslind went up first on the boards. With their kicker putting up six points in two drives in the first quarter. Antonio Freeman would lead Western Cuba back though on a final drive in the first. With Pablo Escobar punching in for two yards with no time left in the first for a touchdown.

Joneslind would respond quickly in the Second Quarter, with their Quarterback throwing a 24 yard touchdown pass for a touchdown. For the rest of the second quarter though both times remained scoreless as along with the Third quarter with Western Cuba putting up great defense. Juan Santiago would record an interception in the end zone which would save Western Cuba from Joneslind possibly putting up seven points, and Kenny Vargas would would record two sacks, Danny Castillo would also record a sack in the third quarter.

The comeback began in the fourth quarter though. After Joneslind would drive up to Western Cuba's redzone the defense would limit them to a field goal. That's when the comeback began. Antonio Freeman would drive Western Cuba quickly up to the Joneslind redzone, scoring on a 7 yard touchdown pass to Nathan Rivera. Western Cuba would then force Joneslind to punt with five minutes remaining the game. Quickly Antonio Freeman would drive up the field again. Scoring on a 18 yard touchdown pass to Pedro Cabrera. Joneslind would later have a minute to regain the lead but would fail to do so with Vladimir Lavrin intercepting a pass from the Joneslind Quarterback.

" I'm impressed how Antonio Freeman handled todays game. He played very well and has secured the starting spot as of now. ", comments Nicholas Sazonov. Head Coach of the Western Cuban National Team. Play continues tomorrow with Western Cuba facing off against #132 Penguinland. Will Antonio Freeman extend Western Cuba to a two-game win streak or will it come to an end.

Space victorious! Help save the Bills!

The Space Astronauts have won an important WORLD BOWL matchup against Calmerica in a battle of two evenly matched teams by the score of 24 to 13. With the result, Space sits in first place in group 4, but it is only artificial in nature, as space is expected to eventually be consumed by the top three ranked teams. More concerningly for the Astronauts, and the rest of football loving peoples everywhere, is that Buffalo's own Bills have been hijacked and held hostage in Western Cuba!

Authorities from space have offered their full support to the Buffalo Bills organization to assist in the effort to recover their copywritten uniforms from Western Cuba, though it will likely prove to be a tough task given the nature of the locals in Western Cuba and different governing laws. More will be presented on this breaking story throughout World Bowl!

After being spectacularly outplayed by the Citiz on home field, the Guardians had a bye day to mull over the situation, and how they would play in their group. It didn't seem pretty; their distinctive offense was now a known quantity, their secondary looked horribly vulnerable, and the dangerous fourth-seeded Space would be very difficult to play against at home in a gravity-modified environment - not to mention the small matter of their side being very much familiar with Kytlerian conditions, thanks to the Baptism of Iron.

If they were worried, the first matchday would have bought them hope if they saw it on the television. Andossa Se Mitrin Vega looked hopeless in defense as they barely squeaked past the capitalisation-challenged Homelands our 40-33 in a ludicrous shootout, while Carasatoga got an even mightier scare against Krumbia, only winning 23-22. Space top the group with their 24-13 win over Calmerica, and with the two big guns in the group looking so vulnerable already, the Guardians may just have some hope.

"It's very different playing with expectation. We've never had that before," conceded head coach Sid Nairn-Coles. "But that's where we are, that's who we are now, we're a target for the new nations and obviously they know all about us and our home field." And with the Citiz defeating Bluth Corporation 15-13 in a thrilling defensive battle - possibly even for those who consider that to be an oxymoronic construction - to take a huge initiative in Group 1, that destruction in Zube doesn't look so bad now.

"We've benefited big time from this tournament being unpredictable," Nairn-Coles said. "It's the beauty of it. And now, we're the ones who might suffer for it."
Out of international isolation and... winning things? Huh?

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Coverage

Regs manhandle Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk
Strong defensive effort and reliable offense gives Regulars early group lead

Forty-eighth ranked Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk were supposed to mildly challenging. Turns out an effort at fairly normal intensity was enough for the Regulars to keep them out of the endzone and hang four offensive touchdowns on them, with the defense scoring another and forcing a safety just to be on the safe side.

Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk's offense looked flaccid for most of the day, only getting to the Allamunnic thirty twice, and being forced to settle for field goals both times. They never even made it to the redzone. Meanwhile the defense looked like its old self, amassing nine sacks on quarterback Jackson Villa, who was unceremoniously pulled from the game after being intercepted for a third time and limped off field. The defense ended up forcing four turnovers: three interceptions, including one by inside linebacker Steven Lindburgh off a deflected pass that was returned for a touchdown, another by Elias Mourner in the fourth quarter at the Regulars' own thirty-two yard line, and another still by Belle Marquette that ended the one of Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk's only promising drives.

Earlier, a fumble forced by Theo Laansur in the first quarter was recovered by Miles Ryan at the opponent's 45-yard line, which resulted in quarterback Leif Erikson's first touchdown in group play on the first play of the drive, a 45-yard shot deep to Mikel Dunn. Erikson would throw another touchdown pass to Myra Dercik on a 18-yard screen in the third quarter, and would go on to finish 22/26 for 284 yards and with two touchdowns. Some analysts are saying it's reasonable to hope that Erikson may actually be better than the injured Daalhulm, who he replaced against Cassadaigua. The rookie has demonstrated a few times that he has quite an arm, and his accuracy was never in doubt. But that's ultimately not what Coach Smart thinks makes him better than past "quarterbacks of the future."

"This kid's pretty damn smart. He asked me during practice the other day how much he was allowed to audible. I told him he could do whatever he thought necessary to win, but that he'd be accountable for a bone-headed play afterward if he did. He then read the defenses, both in practice and in these past two games, audibled, and ripped gaping holes in the defense. That forty-five yard pass wasn't a scripted play. He read that and called it. Maarkus didn't start doing that 'till a year or two ago."

Also of note was the team's rushing effort. In his day on the field, Danyl Wyndhorst made his case for being starter, rushing 21 times for 154 yards and with two touchdown runs of 3 and 39 yards, while being supported by Ole Nurdsunn (four carries, 15 yards) and Myra Dercik (three carries, nineteen yards).

Of course, the icing on the cake consisted of Lindburgh's interception for a touchdown and Honorius Waalturs' sack-for-a-safety in the fourth quarter that pretty much put the game away conclusively. Waalturs finished with 2.5 sacks on the day, followed by Archie Wagner and Lindburgh (each with two) and Miles Ryan (one), and Theodur Laansur (half).

In other Group 7 games, Darmen blew out Chrinthanium, 40-10, while Cosumar barely escaped, 27-26 against Toronina.

In other groups, upsets and close calls were the name of the game for many teams, although rival Qazox outshot a sluggish Arroza, 43-23, while Osarius lit up BoI Champions Thrilledge, 49-16. Civil Citizenry upset Bluth Corporation, 15-13 (proving our playoff loss to them last year wasn't just a fluke), while Andossa Se Mitrin Vega had trouble stopping Homelands our, out-shooting them 40-33. Sarzonia managed to escape against Arsenolia, 26-24, while reigning world #2 Delaclava was downed, 24-17 by Sibirsky.

What does all this mean for the Regulars?

If other teams don't pick up after sluggish starts, our boys and girls in blue-and-grey might just be favorites to win a World Championship for the first time. They were one of the only top seeds in any group that actually played like they were expected to. That said, it's the first matchday; things could change down the road.

Sucrati Dragons put out Tekcrib in Season Opener!

Final Score:
Sucrati 19
Tekcrib 6

The Dragons were ready to go at the season opener of the 16th World Bowl as they faced off against Tekcrib at Alvadasta International Stadium. The Dragons took the ball first, eventually landing it in the end zone within the first 3 minute of game play. The Dragons would allow their opponents to score a touchdown, but they blocked a two point conversion before the halftime buzzer went off. The Dragons would wind up getting a touchdown soon after the 3rd quarter started, however the one-point kick was no good. After that, the two teams kept taking the ball back through conversions. The Dragons would get their last touchdown in the 4th quarter.

Beating traditional football powerhouse Qazox and top five stalwart Allamunnic States in the Delaclava World Bowl was one thing. A second straight win over the rival Kytlerians, by twenty points, no less, was another. But a win over Bluth Corporation, the former champions and current world number three? Only one word can describe it: Boss.

That was head coach Palmer Manning's description of Civil Citizenry's road defeat of "those bastard commies," as they are popularly known the multiverse over. Their 15-13 win gives them a crucial edge over the rest of the field in Group A of the ongoing World Bowl in Cassadaigua; it is likely most other teams will drop their matches with Bluth Corporation. It also means the Explorers might even become the favorites when they host "the pinkos" at home later in the competition.

Boss Manning was thrust into the thick of the action late in the third quarter. The two squads played a hugely defensive game, as has been the case for Civil Citizenry since Manning put on the headset; no one had yet scored when the halftime whistle blew. The Citiz were first to crack, as young Somerset Sandbourne was unable to intercept a pass that fell in the coaxing arms of a Bluth Corporation receiver in the end zone. But an eighty-yard drive towards the conclusion of the penultimate quarter left Manning in a tight spot: go for the touchdown on fourth and goal, or play it safe with a field goal.

He went for it. But when the tens of thousands of people in the stadium thought star quarterback Saxon Haugard would be entrusted with the ball, the Boss surprised them all by running a dive with running back Merritt Parkin. The shocked defensive line was helpless; Parkin sped into the end zone for a morale-boosting touchdown.

Yet again, it was Boss who took center-stage in opting to go for the two-point conversion instead of the extra point. And again, it was Parkin who got the ball... until he lateraled it back to Haugard just behind the line of scrimmage. The twenty-seven-year-old found Wesleigh Corliss uncovered in the corner of the end zone, and suddenly the Explorers had opened up a lead, however slim.

The very next drive - interrupted by the intermission between the third and final quarters - led to a 17-yard touchdown run from Bluth Corporation. The atmosphere was intense as the halfback raised his arms in taunting triumph, lifting his legs in a glorified end to a great run. The home team felt obligated to try for two, knowing that if their magnet-tight defense were to let another touchdown escape them, a simple PAT would put the lead back into the Explorers' hands. But another run was stopped at the line of scrimmage by big Dirk Aldwin-Melrose, who erupted with a ferocious tackle to bring his enemy down.

A couple of three-and-outs, and the time had ticked down to nearly the two-minute warning. Only at the Bluth Corporation forty-eight yard line, Haugard called for a four verticals play; the Bluth secondary (much more competent than the Kytlerian equivalent) quickly dropped back, leaving Haugard with plenty of space to scramble for a fifteen-yard gain. Three straight completed slants put them in the red zone, with just over a minute remaining on the game clock.

Timeout. The Boss ran out onto the field to draw up a play for his boys. "It's the kind of creativity that breeds success," he said afterwards. "You can't use the same four plays over and over and hope something magical will happen on its own. Magic is created by those who believe in it."

Third and two, and Haugard stepped into the pocket, envisioning the entire play in his mind. He dropped back, faked a pass over the middle to the red-hot Corliss, and hooked up with tight end Cadby Townleigh for a reception. Townleigh eluded one - two - three tacklers in a huff-and-puff sprint to the end zone. He flopped onto the grass and let himself be engrossed in a dogpile of elated Citiz.

"Cadby is a monster, a freak of nature. He's a stud," deemed Haugard. Townleigh was named player of the game, but post-game conversations revealed everyone, including the tight end himself, felt Manning was the true star that day.

"Can't get any more boss than the Boss," Townleigh said.

World Bowl XVI
The Road To Cassadaigua

Game 1: at Arroza

A naval battle between Admirals and Sharks started slow, but Qazox rolled in the second half to a 43-23 victory to start the road to Cassadaigua with a win over an old rival. Jake Levy went 31-46 for 376 yards, 4 TD and 1 INT to lead the way for Qazox. Arroza, making their first appearance in almost 6 years at the World Bowl, did pile up 401 yards of offense (356 on the ground), but were held to 5-18 on 3rd and 4th downs. Qazox will next face Thrilledge, who were pounded by Osarius 49-16; at the SaxerDome.

3 big plays of the day:

#3- J.G.Bristol's interception of Levy just before halftime. Qazox was leading 17-14 and driving for another TD, when Bristol intercepted Levy at the Arroza 23 and ran it back 62 yards before being pushed out by Chuck Hart at the Qazox 15. Arroza would kick a FG to send the game into halftime tied at 17.

#2- Diego Rivera's sack and forced fumble of Frank Bethel mid-way in the 3rd quarter. Qazox leading 24-17, and Arroza was driving near midfield. Bethel, in one of his few pass attempts was blindsides by Rivera, who knocked the ball loose, and Chris Shumacher rumbled 29 yards to the Arroza 16, setting up Brian Kelly's 4 yd TD run that made it 31-17.

#1- Levy's bomb to Dirks on the first play from scrimmage in the 2nd half. Dirks, Greg Laird and Hart were in a trips right set, and the Admirals double-teamed Laird, leaving Dirks one-on-one with LB Paul Salem. Dirks easily out-distanced the slower Salem and walked-in for the go-ahead TD.

Drunken News:
For when the people running Arroza are too sauced to do up a real version of the Atalanta Times-Picayune or whatever we're calling it this week.

No backspace while drunk rule starts...now
[/backspace]

Arcatea 34, Arroza 16

We lost, no big deal. Apparently the defense once again couldn't stop molasses from running uphill in January.

Arroza 23, Qaxoz 43

What can be said about this game that hasn't already been said about the world in general? The whole thing just looked bombed out and depleted, as in fornt of a house that was only ¾ full of Admiral fans the Tar Hornets lost to th eQaxoz Phoenix by a full tewnty pouingts,....twenty points. The sole light for the Admiral team was the play of runningback Daniel Bradley, running for 87 yards on 8 carries and a twetynine yard tough touchdown where he absollutely demolished Qazoxian safety Lyle D'Antoni on his way to the promised land.

The good news is that the Arrozan offense looked confident in running the ball somewhat effictively against one of the top 20 teams in the world.

The Bad news is that the Arrozan defense looked like it couldn't stop a parked car as Jake Levy looked like a Cain Wells nightmare tape, throwing the ball at will against the 4-4 defense for over 400 yards.

I swear to god, new countries, don't let the constant butthurt fool you, we did used to be one of the greats. We were a semi-dynasty. Really.

Miley World is getting some momentum for their 1st game

Miley World beat Western Cuba 30-23 in a friendly game and are gaining some momentum for the World Bowl after their loss against Arcatea in the Baptism of Iron. Miley World didn't played well in the 1st half and they were losing 20-10 at the halftime. But then the momentum changed side in the 3rd quarter when Antonio Freeman throwed the ball towards Harry Gonzalez and Anthony Falemalu intercepted it. He returned it for 12 yards before being tackled by Pablo Escobar. Then Nick Walker throwed a touchdown pass to Titus Dawson and the score was 20-17 for Western Cuba. Since that interception by Falemalu, Western Cuba didn't do much on the field and Miley World finally won 30-23.

Matchday 1

Miley World had a bye on matchday 1. In our group there was a game between Allamunnic States and Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, which was broadcasted on MSN (Miley Sports Network). Allamunnic States won 37-6 and the big play of that game was an interception by S. Lindburgh with a 63 yards return for a touchdown. Also, Darmen crushed Chrinthanium 40-10 and Cosumar beat Torosina 27-26. Miley World is playing against Cosumar next week (or next matchday) and we are expecting Cosumar to play better against us, I don't think they want to lose against a low ranked team. The game will be played at the Smiler Stadium in New York, Miley World.

From Lauren Hamilton, President of CAFE,

Cassadagans, it is my pleasure to have helped bring World Bowl 16 to you.
Qualifying began today, but as per international custom, our national team had a bye day in matchday 1. Since I had a bit of a role in the making of the schedule, I was sure that we were positioned in a slot to get the matchday one bye after the groups were drawn due to this unofficial international law. For mostly everyone else, game one is in the books, and we saw a great day of football. Some of the expected championship contenders cruised in MD1, while a couple others stumbled out of the gate, while others may have won, but an upstart gave them quite a fight in the process.

It is a little different for me to be in the press box for this one, having been the offensive coordinator for three World Bowls after retiring as the starting quarterback for the four World Bowls prior to that. One of the most difficult decisions for me to make was the dismissal of Meghan Connolly as head coach. I know that was questioned by a lot of people in wondering if I had ulterior motives for that decision, but I would have fired myself too. We didn’t get it done in the last World Bowl, and the decline has been gradual but apparent. As a nation, we have fallen to #21 overall in the rankings, and that needs to be corrected. Kaitlyn Rinaldi has been promoted to head coach from defensive coordinator, and now Danielle Regan will serve as the offensive coordinator with Meghan Caprotti as the defensive counterpart. This gives us a younger coaching staff, but also puts people from our best seasons in positions of authority, and hopefully they can be looked up too by the current players.

For all the non-Cassadagans out there, on behalf of CAFE, I hope that you have an enjoyable World Bowl, whether it is rooting for your team at home, or traveling to one of their road qualifying games. For those of you who come here, rest assured that we welcome all of you. Since Sorthern Northland does not participate in the World Bowl, we consider all of your are friends, unless proven otherwise.

Dragons v. Astronauts

It sounds like a really bad science fiction movie but in fact it was a really good World Bowl matchup. The only problem, for the Astronauts, is that the Dragons won!!!

It was a good start for the Dragons who had taken a 27-24 lead into the half, but, the second half, Andossa Se Mitrin Vega kept pounding the ball down the field. First, a field goal tied it. Then a touchdown broke it open as the dragons took the 34-27 advantage.

In the fourth quarter they just kept coming. A strong goalline stand by the Astronauts held the dragons to a field goal and then the Dragons added one more with less than 3 minutes to play.

The defeat for Space, well it means they are on the outside looking in. If its not possible for space to beat Kytler Peninsulae or Carasatoga then it won't be possible for them to qualify.

The confusion for space comes in the standings where it talks about "Pts" and awards Space 3 points and other teams 6 or 0. Space has scored 51 points this season so its not certain where the number of '3' is derived from. Space has a .500 record putting them 4th in the group after 2 games.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Coverage

Regulars Recover and Surge to Victory
Score Three Unanswered Touchdown to Win

The Allamunnic offense managed to recover from a weak first half to score three unanswered touchdowns to end the game and defeat a Darmen team that led for most of the game, despite being forced to settle for field goals on five of their seven redzone trips (with the other two ending in turnovers).

Additionally, rookie Leif Erikson proved he could carry the offense, going 21/29 passing for 342 yards and three touchdowns with one early interception, while Ryan Myers rushed 20 times for 100 yards and a touchdown. The defense forced three turnovers: a touchdown-preventing interception in the endzone by Elias Mourner, a momentum-killing interception by Andrik Ierunmungur, and a fumble forced by Theo Laansur and recovered by Archie Wagner to help put the game away. Also of note were the five sacks the defense amassed along with twelve other tackles for loss. Honorius Waalturs had two sacks, Steven Lindburgh and Theo Laansur each had one, and Danley Vicious and Archie Wagner each finished with half a sack. Lindburgh and Miles Ryan led the team for other tackles for losses, with four each, and with Theo Laansur and Archie Wagner each having two.

Additionally, three Allamunnic receivers finished with touchdowns: Willy Theodore (5 rec, 85 yds, TD), Hael Fokkenmaar (4 rec, 78 yds, TD), and Garrett Kelley (5 rec, 57 yds, TD). Izaak Rolle (5 rec, 111 yds) led the receivers in yardage. Ryan Sherman (2 rec, 11 yds) also helped convert two key third-downs.

Which brings us to the next big statistic; the Regulars were 8/14 on third-down throughout the game, but were 5/6 in the second half. They were also 2/2 on fourth down.

Initial Score and Turnover Report
For the second straight game, the Allamunnic defense held their opponents without a touchdown, as Darmenite kicker Frank Lambert was called on to kick seven field goals.

Sea Dragons 2-0. Khord Playing Well

Several questions surrounded the Sea Dragons grid ball team as they entered qualification for World Bowl 16. How well could a team comprised entirely of Dwarves compete against some of the largest, strongest, and fastest humans in the NSverse? How would the Vegai fans react to a departure from the beloved Run & Shoot? And could this edition of the Sea Dragons be the one to finally finish better than fourth? Now after the first two game have been completed we have an answer to at least the first of those.

In game 1 the newly implemented “West Coast” style proved that points an be generated without a major deep threat as the Sea Dragons put 40 points on the board behind a 23 of 35 for 215 yards and 3 TD effort from Grazgdal. The new system proved perfect for the shorter Dwarven players as nice lanes are opened up so that vision is not a factor. The real hero of the game may have been Norad Gartul who amassed 149 yards on 17 carries and a TD. Gartul kept the defense honest which allowed the receivers to get there jobs done. The main concern in the game against Homelands our was the lack of true defensive pressure which allowed the game to stay close.

In the second game against the Baptism of Iron runners up Space, the Sea Dragons followed much the same pattern by putting another 40 points on the board as Grazgdal completed 19-30 for 237 yards and a pair of Touchdowns. Gartul had 22 carries for 154 yards and 2 scores. The defense once again had issues as they allow 387 yards from Conlin as he looked All-NS in the process/ And if not for a Nitrogen fumble which led to a 43 yard FG. They could easily have seen the second team to drop at least 33 points of their own.

A 2-0 start is a wonderful thing if wre can keep it up.

Miley World stuns Cosumar!

Miley World made a strong World Bowl debut by defeating Cosumar 41-35. About 15 000 people from Cosumar travelled to Miley World. Most of them were wearing the Cosumarite national team jersey and some other were wearing metal bands t shirts. Some people had some doubts about Nick Walker since our offense didn't do well against Braxil and Arcatea at the BoI but with his strong performance today, it cleared any doubts about him. Walker was the offensive player for Miley World, he passed for 438 yards with 4 touchdown passes and 0 interception. He has been sacked twice. Miley World's defensive player of the game was our middle linebacker Braden Krause who had 5 tackles, 1 sack and 1 pass deflected. Kameron Howard (COS) only got sacked once and Krause got the sack. Cosumar were the first team to score when Kameron Howard made a 17 yards pass to Paul Norwood on their first drive, but then Miley World responded with 2 touchdown. Miley World took the lead and they never trailed anymore in the game, but each time the Untamed Robots scored, the Dragons scored too so they kept the score close. Miley World finally won 41-35. In Miley World we have decided to invite a local band to sing at the halftime of each of our home games. So today Everlife was singing at the halftime. Everlife is three sisters, Julia, Sarah and Amber Ross and they toured with Miley Cyrus a few years ago. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8hHhwAs9n4g

German Zerabithea wins nail biter over Dragons... Dragons Coach blames Jet Lag.

Final Score:
German Zerabithea: 12
Sucrati: 9

When the team took to the field in German Zerabithea, they were coming off the enthusiasm from winning the previous game. However, fate would not be on their side as they went down 12 to 9. Yes Ladies and Gentlemen, a single field goal decided the fate of the game.

First quarter saw each team take one touchdown leaving the score 6 - 6. The Second Quarter was only attributed to keeping the game tied with each team getting in a field goal. The score would remained tied until game time ended, and the game was sent into over time. The game was finally declared over after German Zerabithea got a field goal and then the Dragons could not get it into the end zone afterwards.

On to the next game, hold your heads high, you came very close, but no cigars for you.

---------------------------- 1 2 3 4 OT F
German Zerabithea: 6 3 0 0 3 12

Chad: What brah?

JR: They said it was because of jet lag!

"the two laugh and high five each other"

Chad: Dude, show them viewers the numbers.

JR: Right, Recent studies show that if Robert and Sucrati's QB were in the same room with 100 women in it, Robert would be signing twice as many chests as Sucrati's QB would.

Chad: See? You just can't beat numbers like that, this is probably why the Bro gods of bro-ness invented math in the first place.

"the two high five each other again"

Chad: Alright everyone, we will be right back after this brodacious commercial break!
