The squad features just two changes from the history-making side that made the playoffs from absolutely nowhere last time. Three, if you account for a player moving into a starting role from second choice.

Head coach: Sid Nairn-Coles
Offensive coordinator: Wilson Wakefield
Defensive coordinator: Mickey Green
Special teams coordinator: Glenn Edmonds

QB: #8 Warren Bellingham / #14 Stephen Carringdon / #4 Fred Hills

LT: #71 Colin Cracknell / #66 Silstols Minanad
LG: #63 Danny Lawrence / #70 Ngakaukawa Nam'ulu

RG: #69 Lothario Ellis / #56 Kevin Dunnett / #62 Fihor Luders
RT: #64 Mez'yan Umaga / #68 Angufams Cagenil / #65 Louis Walpole

LE: #76 Hetag Thug / #91 Anders Sivlee
DT: #59 Izorigor Handbosm / #97 Cuthbert Ainsworth / #94 Darren Harrington
RE: #75 Derek Locke / #73 Bradley Duff / #78 Pitski Irupe
LOLB: #98 Tika Waikerepuru / #58 Marco Rennich / #91 Eric Meier
MLB: #55 Jørn Nanstveit / #54 Michael Macarthur / #51 Dennis Silver
ROLB: #93 Filler Whaariny / #96 Alain Jordin / #92 Josh Forte
CB: #20 Christian Whalley / #23 Igor Abelovsky / #22 Barry Carden / #39 Jimmy Barrow
FS: #42 Adam Douglas / #45 Olivier Thomas / #34 Onyi Djourou
SS: #49 John Camelot / #47 Elmar Peters

K: #11 Anton Ferry / #5 Russell Lamptey

LS: #62 Johan Zabaleta / #69 Lothario Ellis
KR/PR: #19 Paul Hardcastle / #23 Igor Abelovsky / #26 Julian Henry

Warren Bellingham is relatively small and agile for a QB (5'11", 179lbs) and predictably enough, lacks the arm strength to make the deep passes. Fortunately, with his ability to scan the field quickly, and make plays with his legs if he doesn't spot anything, he doesn't generally need to throw deep. That's Stephen Carringdon's job. (Carringdon is 6'5", 250lbs, a plodding pocket passer with a rocket arm and not much else, and might possibly be substituted in where points are needed in a hurry.) The playbook is hence designed around short passes - three-step drops are not at all uncommon. Particularly for passes to tailback Pascal Deroff - who lacks top-end speed, but can blast and/or juke his way through small holes in no time. Don't be surprised if he has more catches than carries - it's one way of getting rather less beaten up playing at tailback, let's put it that way. Besides, when it comes to gaining yards over the middle, the team have one of the best tight ends in the multiverse - former high school basketball standout Jerome Seneris is 6'8" and 265lbs, but has a sub-4.6 40, and he'll go on a safety-flattening YAC attack if you give him half a chance. Andy Clayton is another great player in the position, being a capable receiver and an excellent blocker, and on most downs you'll see both of them lined up - usually but not always with Clayton staying back to block.

On defense, Hetag Thug is appropriately vicious, Izorigor Handbosm ditto, but the key playmakers are OLBs Tika Waikerepuru and Filler Whaariny, who have the speed, strength, and stamina to blitz opposing QBs all day. The main defensive vulnerabilities are in the secondary, who lack the individual talent of the top WRs they will so often have to face, although they rarely make horrible mistakes (usually they'll just get beaten for speed deep, or by some other excellent individual play).

Anton Ferry's kicking range is 48 yards with no wind; he's exceptionally reliable inside 40, but misses long FGs regularly. Conversely, punter Stephen Powers has more power than accuracy, not reliably finding coffin corner as much as you'd hope for, but constantly gaining a ton of hangtime and distance when pinned inside his own half. Needless to say, he's got kickoff duties - who cares where a kickoff goes as long as it's in bounds and as far away from the other goal line as possible?

RP permissions: Do not godmod, and do not injure my players for more than a game or two. No other limitations.
Style modifier: -1
Style details: Because the quarterback is small, mobile, and highly accurate, the offense is built around short passes (the "West Coast offense"). The team also make extensive use of 2-TE offensive sets - sometimes with two WRs and one RB, sometimes the other way round - and usually at least one of them isn't there to block. Of course, in long-yardage situations, you can expect to see at least three WRs and the QB operating out of the gun. On defense, the 3-4 is the base formation; the OLBs regularly blitz, the MLBs tend to stay in coverage. Expect to see the 4-4 defense in rushing situations.
Team nickname: Guardians (often referred to as "Green and Gold Guardians").
Kit: See below for jerseys. Helmet is green with gold stripes and facemask. Pants are gold with green stripes for home kit, and the reverse away. Socks are gold.
Image
Home field: Zube National Stadium, Zube (capacity 56,424; shown in soccer mode, the adboards around the field won't be there for gridball). Field is natural grass; weather forecast will be provided in preview RPs, but expect occasional rain and moderate temperatures.

Puma Invitational Dinner

"Ladies and Gentlemen, please take your seats" requested the polite Minister of Sports, Darron Elianos.

The tall and big football players among the other attendees calmly shuffled through to take their seats at their respective tables. Once everyone seated themselves, Mr. Elianos spoke again.

"Welcome everyone. Today we are here to celebrate the wonderful national team we have put together for the 16th World Bowl. As you probably have heard, they are off to Cassadaigua in a few days, where they will compete against other nations for the title of World Champions. Tonight we have a special program set up, highlighting the success of the Thatian National Football Team, as well as a few coaches and players here to speak to us. First, let us get started with our history. This World Bowl will be Thatius' second, and here we have Mr. Viktor Lukacs to give a small presentation on events at the first World Bowl Thatius attended, as well as recent events. Viktor."

Smiling, the young Viktor Lukacs walked across the stage and replaced Mr. Elianos at the podium. Viktor participated in the 15th World Bowl, but has been sidelined with an injury for the past months, and is unable to play for Thatius in the 16th.

"Thanks Minister," said Viktor. "So what does football mean to Thatius? Anything? Well, we all know most are obsessed with the college level, but now is the time for professional football to explode. Thatius has a chance to make a statement to its' people, as well as the world, that we are a great football nation. Let us begin with the 15th World Bowl and that fiasco. Here. You see that? That's the score, 6-58 of Thatius' first game in the World Bowl. We lost to Bluth Corporation in a game that they completely out-powered us. Of course, they were, and still are a Top 5 team."

The attendees laughed sheepishly as they remembered the time. Some uncomfortably talked to each other while Viktor proceeded to the next slide of the presentation.

Viktor continued by saying: "And here we have the next, our win against Astograth! How we pulled that upset, it still remains a mystery. Credit goes to Coach Zahlavov for executing smart plays that enabled us to score three un-matched touchdowns. After that match, we believed we could still perform well."

People clapped and cheered as the video highlights of that game showed, with star Quarterback Daniel Saleski throwing the amazing touchdowns, and with Wide Reciever Max Wenakowski making two of those.

"Sorry, we have to continue. And then we have our upset over Dorian & Sonya. 13-12. We scored one touchdown and two field goals, with our back-up kicker Greg Ouelette making all three of his field goals. D&S had four field goals, and almost a touchdown, but we stopped them, can you believe it? Another win that put us third in our group.

Then the disappointment. A loss 13-17 to Magoris was a setback. Then a 10-22 loss to the former nation of Weegee and Rick Steves, a closer game of 13-35 against Bluth Corporation, 10-40 routing by Astograth, a 0-20 loss to D&S, then a nailbiting 6-7 loss to Magoris, and finally a 10-21 loss to Wegee and Rick Steves. That was where it ended. Starting off 2-1 then losing seven straight games. Our record was an abysmal 2-8."

Not one single person moved or made a sound. The room was dead quiet, as people were captivated by the bluntness of the former Thatian football player.

"You might say: Hey, that's unfortunate. But we look at that and saw disappointment. We were off to a pretty good start, but seven straight losses? It's inconceivable. But you know what? We're a different team this year. We're stronger, faster, smarter, more agile, and out for revenge. We want to redeem our team name, and make a stand for something. That idea is that we of Thatius have one of the best football teams in the world!"

Everyone stood up and clapped as he finished his short speech.

"Thanks. And now I'll hand it over to Coach Zahlavov to speak about the team and prospects this year."

Coach Zahlavov appeared from backstage, wearing his trimmed suit and coaches hat.

"Good evening. That story from last year was unfortunate. But that was the past. We don't look too much in what happened yesterday, or months ago, but rather, we look forward to today and what will happen tomorrow. This team has improved so much since the last World Bowl, and with the addition of many new players, I think we have a spectacular team that will prove to be a menace to some. Thank you all for attending tonight, and I hope you continue to show your support for our national team. Thanks."

Again, everyone stood up to clap Coach Zahlavov, but were confused by his short talk.

"Don't worry folks," said Mr. Elianos. "Coach Zahlavov probably is planning out the strategy for the first few games..even though the Group Draws haven't even been released. Anyways, thanks for all our speakers tonight, and thank you for attending tonight's event. Here's to Thatius!"

Miley World is getting ready for the World Bowl 16

Following their elimination from the BoI, the Untamed Robots have come back to Miley World and have been training and practincing some plays so far. Our defense have improved througout the BoI but the offense have regressed and our football expert Rico Suave Jr thinks Nick Walker was probably playing despite an injury. We have asked coach Matt Payton what he will do to improve our offense:

Well, we're gonna vary our plays a bit more. We're going to send formations with 3 wide receivers, then a formation with two tight ends, we could also use a formation with two halfbacks. I admit I didn't used a lot of different plays at the BoI and our opponents, like Arcatea, noticed that and they stopped us.

Luckily, Miley World only have one injured player, Brett May, who injured humself in a group match in the BoI against Braxil. He is questionnable for matchday 1 and if he's unable to play, A.J. Wells will start at right tackle.

Stadium

The Miley World Untamed Robots have announced that they will play their home games at the Smilers Stadium in New York, Miley World. The Smilers Stadium is the home of the New York Smilers and New York Green Monkeys and it can contain 80 000 spectators.

here is a pic of the Smilers Stadium taken during a New York Green Monkeys game against a divisional rival:

Arcatea National Football Team

Head Coach: Marcus Thomas (52)
- Marcus is entering his second Competition as the Head Coach for Arcatea, who sits at 3-3. Before taking over he was the Head Coach for the AFL team, Greenleaf Gators. He led the Gators to back to back AFL Championships, and 4 in the past 7 years.

After 4 seasons at Central, he followed some of his players to Wickline University, where he coached future Hall of Famers Vince Jones (LB), Jackson Murray (SS), Payton Smith (DE), and Rick Quincy (LB). He spent 15 seasons at Wickline, then followed Head Coach Joseph Gang to Bucktown University. About the Fourth Wall:

The Fourth Wall is your standard religious cult, that went mainstream. Operating out of the mountains of North Island, the group made wakes with their radical idea that the entire nation of Arroza was infact the creation of an alcoholic, self-hating truck driver. They were generally laughed at and given the scorn they deserve, because who would want to believe that their God is a worse person than they are?

During The Troubles, the group gained significance as the idea of Arroza being controlled by a sometimes malign, uncontrolled deity made sense as the country was attacked by natural disasters, disappeared from the maps of the world, and generally became a shell of itself. The group now is the second largest religion in Arroza, behind only the Arrozan Baptist Church, and owns several television networks. One of those networks, FWS [Fourth Wall Sports], recently won the rights to host Arroza's World Bowl Sixteen games.

Annnd, back to Football:

“Welcome to this the first weekly special on the Arroza Admirals' World Bowl Sixteen run from the Fourth Wall Network's sports studios here in scenic Queen's Bay, Saint Simona. I am your host and former player for the Queens' Bay Boomers, Roderick Cuahtemoc , alongside my beautiful co-host, religious expert, Sarai Dyer. We of course will be discussing both the sporting and metaphysical aspects of the Admirals run in World Bowl Sixteen, and what it might mean for the country as a whole, right Sara?”

“That's right Roderick, so what's first on the list today are a couple of minor concerns that might have major metaphysical significance. Most notably, the World Bowl rankings are due to be out today, and most Arrozans aren't going to like what they see. Arroza is going to be ranked at the absolute bottom of the rankings, behind countries that have only participated in a Baptism of Iron, or who might have flamed out in a World Bowl proper, only won one game and never showed up again. Religiously, that's got to be seen as a harsh punishment for us turning our backs on international football.”

“But people have got to understand Sarai, that during the troubles, the last thing on the mind of the country was international football. We still don't even have a region yet, we're in some murky kind of gray area regarding our location internationally. We were dealing with earthquakes, tsunamis, mass insanity, and people expected us to play internationally recognized sporting events, I think that's a little much for anyone to expect out of our islands.”

“Maybe so, I'm just telling you what we think the Gods are thinking. At one point we were a major part of the gridiron world. We hosted a Baptism of Iron, we hosted a World Bowl, we won a World Bowl, and then we disappeared for twenty years. The world isn't going to be pleaded with us. And using the World Bowl rankings to show us how much they disrespect us is almost an ironic masterpiece. To use what was once the Arrozan Ministry of Sport's ranking system to tell us that the rest of the world considers us to be nothing is an incredibly telling sign about what they rest of the world thinks of us.”

“Well, that makes sense from a larger angle, but I'm more concerned about the football. With the first draw for groups, what this does to us is put Arroza at the bottom of the lowest pool for groups. We are not going to get a favorable fraw, and expect us to be playing in a group with at least three international heavy hitters in our qualifying groups. The side effect of the World Bowl being so big, is that the World Bowl a bit more impersonal than we've all remembered before The Troubles. We're going to have teams that Arroza has historically dominated saying that we're an easy win now, because of these rankings, and they're going to set us up in a group to make sure it happens. We've got a giant kick me sign painted on our back, and the point here is that revenge is a very messy business indeed, especially at this level.”

“Very true, Roderick. This could almost be seen as a type of sporting penance for some of the foul things that we've done in the past to teams, for no other reason than because we could. We...”

“Hold on, what have we done underhanded in fifty years of World Bowls?”

“I've studied it Roderick, and it's not the shortest of lists. We don't have clean hands. No one that wants to play sport at the highest levels do, but I can only focus on ourselves.

Not showing mercy to defeated opponents, and running up the score.
We got our fans into a massive street brawl in Tundra Falls, for World Bowl I.
We threw games, to let a weaker team into the playoffs.”

“Hold on, me, you and every member of the Fourth Wall knows that's not true! God was bombed drunk and forgot to pay attention to that game!”

“Okay, scratch that. Taunting Vephrall with 51-3 posters.
We wore red jerseys at Bettia. That alone is worth penance.
We cursed Dancougar and wouldn't mention their country's name for how long? Thirty-forty years? All I'm saying is that we're not blameless. Deal with it.”

“Okay, we'll discuss this more later, since if everyone's doing evil, then why does one group of people specifically get punished, with guest theologian Anson Carter. After this short break, a look at the new roster and a talk with coach Tulowitzki.”

Agent Tanya Fitzgerald shook her head after recieving the latest report from her undercover partner, who was investigating the NO MAS! group; a group that has recently grown from a very small group with a handful of members to now over 3000 people. But the latest info she'd just recieved had thrown her for a loop. Now she had to brief her superior...

"Agent Fitzgerald. How's the job going?" Chief Price asked.

"Sir, as best we can tell, NO MAS!'s leader, Durburto Roban is clean. He's not syphoning money from the group nor is there any links between him and any terrorist organizations or drug cartels." Tanya replied.

"So then the past month has been a waste?" Chief Price replied.

"No sir. We have found that someone within the NO MAS! organization is linked to to a terrorist organization, but as of yet we don't know who." Tanya replied.

"Which organization?" Chief Price asked.

"According to some e-mails and phone messages, A.M.A.N.D.A is behind the mysterious money coming into the account" Tanya replied.

"AMANDA? Are you joking with me? That group hasn't existed for 70 years or so. Any members of that group still alive would be in their 90's now. Unless you're done trying to make me laugh, please leave." Chief Price said.

Tanya went back to her desk and sent a message to her partner: "Find proof of AMANDA's involvement or else job is finished".

Ok folks, without any further adieu, it’s time for the Group Draw for World Bowl 16.

Format:
- Eight Groups of Seven.

Phoenix Football Insider

The draw is up, and things look good for the Phoenix. We've got some highly ranked teams, and a few ranked lower than us. Our strong showing in the Baptism of Iron should help us out, and we should become a stronger team while getting to play some very good teams. We were drawn into Group 1, with the likes of Civil Citizenry, Bluth Corporation, and The Babbage Islands. If we were to finish solely based off of Ranking, Arcatea would finish 5th. Thankfully these games are played on Paper, and Arcatea hopes to play upset minded in their first game at home vs. #3 Bluth Corporation .

Arcatea unveiled new uniforms for the World Bowl, and have announced that Arcatean company, Simmons Athletic, will be the official apparel provider for the National Team. Greenleaf Enterprises will also be a sponsor for the National team. These sponsorship's are needed to allow the Arcatean Sports Commission to stay under-budget, as it did not expect to sponsor a Football team this year. The original plan was for the ASC to wait until the next World Bowl, however due to the pressure of Head Coach Marcus Thomas, who it had already hired, they went sped the process up for this World Bowl. I am glad to have Arcatea Football for this World Bowl, because Bucktown University is doing horribly in NSCF play, and the National Soccer team is currently waiting to see if it has been accepted to the Cup of Harmony.

Below is Arcatea's Schedule for Group play:

Matchday 1 (11/21):Bye
Matchday 2 (11/22): @ Thatius
Matchday 3 (11/23): vs. Bluth Corporation
Matchday 4 (11/24): @ Beldonia
Matchday 5 (11/26): vs West Guiana
Matchday 6 (11/27): @ Civil Citizenry
Matchday 7 (11/28): vs The Babbage Islands
Matchday 8 (11/29): Bye
Matchday 9 (11/30): vs Thatius
Matchday 10 (12/1): @ Bluth Corporation
Matchday 11 (12/2): vs Beldonia
Matchday 12 (12/3): @ West Guiana
Matchday 13 (12/4): vs Civil Citizenry
Matchday 14 (12/5): @ The Babbage Islands
Association Football Rank:104
Arcatean National Team Record:20-6-14, 1st Republic Cup Champions!
Bucktown University Record(NSCF):1-2

World Bowl XVI
The Road To Cassadaigua

Well those NO MAS! people will be happy as there's no sign of the Allamunnic States near Qazox' group. Speaking of which, the qualifying draw for the Sharks took place tonight at Cassadaigua. The Sharks are the 2nd seed in Group B, behind Osarius. There's another familar team Arroza, as the one-time champs return after a lengthy absence from competition. Narsora, Weegee and Rick Steves, Thrilledge, and Wreuvyvuss round out the group. WR&S is the other major threat besides Osarius in the group; but as we all know the Sharks, as of late, have played down to their opponents.

Schedule:
Matchday 1 @ Arroza
Matchday 2 v. Thrilledge @ SaxerDome, SaxerVilla
Matchday 3 @ Weegee and Rick Steves
Matchday 4 BYE
Matchday 5 v. Wreuvyvuss @ New Bruxen Hotel and Casino Field, New Bruxen

Matchday 14 @ Narsora

Key Games: MD1 @ Arroza; MD6 @ Osarius; MD10 v. Weegee and Rick Steves; MD13 v. Osarius.

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Coverage

Group Announced

The group draw out of Cassadaigua has been released along with updated rankings for the World Bowl, due to begin this Monday in Cassadaigua. The Regulars have been drawn as the top team in Group Seven. We'll break down the group here, and analyze the other teams the Regulars will be competing against in group play.

Group 7:

#4 Allamunnic States - Our own national side is currently ranked fourth in the world, despite a premature playoff exit last year. Despite a scare regarding a potential quarantine of the team, the full team has assembled and is, according to Head Coach Ryan Smart, ready to face their first opponents. The offense will be led once again by Maarkus Daalhulm, and should benefit from the addition of two young running backs, a rotating corps of linemen, and a receiver corps with a good mix of veterans and young players. On defense, a new 3-4 base front should give the team a greater flexibility. Add in the same veteran personnel and several young, talented additions, and you've got a team that's poised to take another shot at trying to win their first title. Projected Finish: Group 7 Champions, World Bowl Finals.

#18 Cosumar - The 18th-ranked Dragons finished with an 8-2 record in the group stage of World Bowl XV, only to lose during the first round of the playoffs in overtime. With past performances in mind, the Dragons should be a little more offensively-geared, meaning they should be able to put up the points that could make them capable of finishing at least second in the group, but with every possibility of upsetting the Regulars and taking the group champion spot. Projected Finish: Group 7 Runners-Up, World Bowl Quarterfinals.

#34 Darmen - 34th-ranked Darmen finished 5-5 during the Fifteenth World Bowl and missed the playoffs despite being third in your group. This is a team that seems to place a large amount of emphasis on scoring, but they tend to operate mostly out of formations that suggest a run-first offense. Maybe they throw it a lot from those formations? They might finish greater than .500, but odds are they'll finish right around .500 and either miss the playoffs or just barely squeak in. Darmen looks vulnerable to upsets due to their more-or-less new starting lineup; a high degree of turnover can lead to problems during the Bowl. Projected Finish: Group 7 Fourth-Place.

#48 Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk - The nation with the ridiculously hard-to-write-and-say-name returns, having repeatedly underperformed in multiple World Bowls. We'll probably see them underperform again, and best-case scenario, they'll finish at fourth in the group. Their relatively high-powered spread offense might allow them to score an upset or two, particularly against Darmen. Projected Finish: Group 7 Third Place.

#124 Miley World - The people of Miley World seem to feel they underperformed in the Baptism of Iron. Given the level of play they reached at times, this seems like a somewhat valid conclusion; look for this team to make a splash and potentially pull a few upsets to finish fourth in the group. The Untamed Robots might just be able to make some noise, but probably won't contend for the group title. Projected Finish: Group 7 Fifth-Place.

#134 Toronina - We have virtually no information to go on for Toronina, but most analysts believe that the only thing they'll be threatening is dead-last in the group. Projected Finish: Group 7 Seventh-Place.

#145 Chrinthanium - Again, we have very little information to go on for Chrinthanium, but there is reason to suspect they may be able to win a game or two and avoid finishing in the group's basement. Projected Finish: Group 7 Sixth-Place.

Group Round Schedule
11/11/2010: @ Cassadaigua
11/14/2010: @ Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk
11/17/2010: @ Darmen
11/20/2010: BYE
11/23/2010: @ Chrinthanium
11/26/2010: vs. Miley World, @ Royal Field (Koenigshalloe, Ostlund)
11/29/2010: vs. Toronina, @ Royal Field (Koenigshalloe, Ostlund)
12/02/2010: @ Cosumar
12/05/2010: vs. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk, @ Cataphract Memorial Stadium (Skarrsboro, Skraelingia)
12/08/2011: vs. Darmen, @ Cataphract Memorial Stadium (Skarrsboro, Skraelingia)
12/11/2011: BYE
12/14/2011: vs. Chrinthanium, @ Federal Steel Field (Thomasburg, Stalhamark)
12/17/2011: @ Miley World
12/20/2011: @ Toronina
01/23/2011: vs. Cosumar, @ Federal Steel Field (Thomasburg, Stalhamark)

It has been announced that all games held at Federal Steel Field will be played in outdoor conditions. Since it will be in Thomasburg in winter, teams and spectators should anticipate cold, windy, and snowy or rainy conditions. The same goes without saying for the other two home sites, especially Skarrsboro, as both stadiums are open-air.

[OOC Note: Please also note that dates are what they are so that it works out with my domestic gridiron schedule. If they conflict with the ones you use for RP purposes, just ignore the ones I've used.]

Los Angeles Times

Group draw for the World Bowl announced

American football rankings has been updated and Miley World makes its appearance for the 1st time in the rankings, being ranked #124. A total of 149 countries are ranked. Following the rankings update, the group draw was made and the Untamed Robots are in the group seven with the following countries:

Allamunnic States (4)
Cosumar (18)
Darmen (34)
Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk (48)
Toronina (134)
Chrinthanium (145)

We have asked our expert Rico Suave Jr what he thinks of this group:

"Well, Allamunnic States are ranked 4th and they're showing a lot of info about their team, I think they're unbeatable and they're a serious contender for the World Bowl Final. Cosumar is really strong either, they'll finish 2nd in our group. Darmen and Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk will compete for the 3rd place. Toronina and Chrinthanium are kinda weak and they will compete for the 6th place. Miley World will almost certainly finish 5th because Darmen and Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk are too strong and Toronina and Chrinthanium are kinda weak."

Schedule

Miley World's schedule is also known. We start with a bye, then on week 2 we play at home against Cosumar. On november 23 (Miley Cyrus Birthday) we play on the road against Chrinthanium and on thanksgiving day we play at home against Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk. Here is the full schedule:

Sea Dragons Ready To Crush All Who Get In Their Way

A qualification campaign that does not have us pitted against Osarius or German Zerabithea? We here in the Draggonnii Socialist Empire had heard that such things exist, but this is our first true glimpse at having such. Perhaps the God of all things football has finally chosen to look favorably upon us.

So who will this new group of short, bearded Sea Dragons face in their efforts to finally finish better than 4th in the World Bowl? A group of very tough newcomers, that’s who.

MD1: @ #142 Homelands our.
MD2: @ #111 Space.
MD3: Bye
MD4: @ #117 Calmerica
MD5: vs. #29 The Kytler Peninsulae
MD6: vs. #134 Krumbia
MD7: @ #15 Carasatoga
MD8-14 reversal of MD1-7

With the Sea Dragons taking the road for their first three games, it becomes very important that the new Dwarven team plays well from the onset of qualification. Homelands our, Space, and Calmerica all have potential and should be solid warm ups as our team adjusts to international play. 3-0 after four match days and all three games on the road would be a brilliant start and put us in wondrous position as we return home for a very important game vs. The Kytler Peninsulae on MD5.

What we hope is that we can disguise our coverages against Bellingham and Carrington. They will not be used to playing Dwarves and we hope that our shorter players can “hide” a bit before showing why we sent them. Their halfback, Deroff is a perfect match for our defense as he lacks the speed that could allow him to outrun the Dwarf D-Line. Perhaps the biggest match up of the day will be for Baergok Tokadukr and Karis Stunrin as they try to slow down monster TE Jerome Seneris. Seneris could be the key for a TKP victory. Expect QB Dwalgrat Grazgdal to try and take advantage of a suspect Guardians secondary.

The other game to keep an eye on is at Carasatoga on MD7. The G-Hawks have been steadily getting better every time out and pose a serious threat for the Group title. Balance seems to be their biggest attribute and that means that we have to be on top of our game as we cant focus on just one area.

Now, as the Khord are fond of saying, It’s time to grabbin’ your hammer - there’s heads to be knocking!

World Bowl XVI Preview:

Schedule:
Code: Select all
Matchday 1: Arroza v Qazox [Fletcher Field, Atalanta, C.D.]
Matchday 2: Narsora v Arroza
Matchday 3: Thrilledge v Arroza
Matchday 4: Arroza v Weegee y Rick Steves [Arroza Steelworkers Park, Vulcan, P.F.]
Matchday 5: Bye
Matchday 6: Wreuvyuss v Arroza
Matchday 7: Arroza v Osarius [Fletcher Field, Atalanta, C.D.]
Matchday 8: Qazox v Arroza
Matchday 9: Arroza v Narsora [Fletcher Field, Atalanta, C.D.]
Matchday 10: Arroza v Thrilledge [Open Sea Fleet Stadium, Queen's Bay, St. S]
Matchday 11: Weegee y Rick Steves v Arroza
Matchday 12: Bye
Matchday 13: Arroza v Wreuvyuss [Fletcher Field, Atalanta, C.D.]
Matchday 14: Osarius v Arroza

Group Competition:

#6 Osarius – We've never played them, but they were coming up just as we started to fall off. They
re going to be a tough match, but they'll be looking over us and just see the #145 seed instead of the actual team.

#12 Qazox – Trivia buffs will remember the Phoenix as the team that Arroza beat to win their only World Bowl title, thirty odd years ago. Alas, the times have changed and I doubt we can look forward to getting anything from these games, especially the home draw being the forst game of the tournament.

#27 Weegee y Rick Steves – I'm sorry, I can't take these guys seriously. Arroza to roll in two shocking upsets that will see the Admirals to third in the group and into the playoffs.

#104 Thrilledge – They were very impressive in winning the Baptismal of Iron, but we'll see how they fare against established competition, and with the rest of the newcomers gunning at their back. We split the series with them, no big deal.

#130 Narsora – Anything but 2 wins here is a dissapointment.

#134 Wreuvyvuss - 2 wins just for making me type this out. Arroza scores twice before we know how to pronounce their country's name.

Projected Group Finish:
Qazox [10-2]
Osarius [9-3]
Arroza [7-5] *through on H2H
Weegee y Rick Steves [7-5]
Thrilledge [5-7]
Narsora [2-10]
Wreuvyvuss [2-10]

And always interesting and good for bulletin board material: Our thoughts about groups we're not in!

Group 1: Man I remember when Bluth was just a regional rival and an easy win. Now they're all grown up, it's so cute. Bluth, Babbage Isles and Civil Citizenry to go through.

Group 3: F-1 Insanity goes through but finishes third in the group behind Weyr Sular and Khabarovsk Krai

Group 4: Le yawn. Kytler, Andossa, and Carastoga roll.

Group 5: Sarzonia, Zerabithea, and the rest of the teams all look to be straight garbation.

Group 6: Delaclava, Sibirsky, and the Femme Fatales make it to the Matriarchy.

Group 7: Allamunic States, Darmen, and in the shock of the tournament, Miley World make the playoffs.

Group 8: Torisakia, Krytenia and the Rennidan Riot advance.

Space avoids Soccer team in draw

The academy of space has been lucky to avoid the Civil Citizenry soccer team in its Group Draw for World Bowl 16.

After a strong performance in the Baptism Of Iron, losing to Denard Robinson and the Thrilledge team, in the final, The Astronauts were drawn in Group 4, in a good draw for the chances of advancing to the next phase. It is avoiding Group 1, which contains at least one team that was mistaken in the type of football they were signing up to (Civil Citizenry!) so it will be an interesting time in that group as the soccer players play with Shin Guards on.

In Group 4, space will be chasing Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, and the Gridiron form of the Dragons which will be threatening to all teams, including space. The hosts of the Baptism of Iron will be playing as well, the Kytler Peninsulae, and finally it will be Carasatoga in the favorites position to advance. The other teams, Space can handle, but, Homelands our, perhaps will be a sleeper contestant, the last team in the group but perhaps a chance to surprise the others.

Otherwise, Space will be trying to make an upset into the top 3, there is a huge gap in quality between the top 3 and the rest of the teams in the group, who are all inexperienced, so it will be a very tough job for any team to make the top 3.

Group 4:
The Kytler Peninsulae (29)
Krumbia (134)
Space (111)
Andossa se Mitrin Vega (8)
Homelands our (142)
Calmerica (117)
Carasatoga (15)

On To Bigger Things

After winning the Baptism of Iron, the Thrilledge Dreadlocks have been assigned a group and a schedule for the World Bowl. They were drawn into Group 2 along with Narsora (world ranking of 130), Qazox (12), Weegee and Rick Steves (27), Osarius (6), Wreuvyvuss (134), and Arroza (145). Thrilledge comes into the World Bowl with a ranking of 104. The schedule looks like this...

Matchday 1: vs. Osarius
Matchday 2: @ Qazox
Matchday 3: vs. Arroza
Matchday 4: @ Narsora
Matchday 5: @ Weegee and Rick Steves
Matchday 6: Bye
Matchday 7: @ Wreuvyvuss
Matchday 8: @ Osarius
Matchday 9: vs. Qazox
Matchday 10: @ Arroza
Matchday 11: vs. Narsora
Matchday 12: vs. Weegee and Rick Steves
Matchday 13: Bye
Matchday 14: vs. Wreuvyvuss

Osarius and Qazox look to be the two group frontrunners while third places is totally up for grabs. If Thrilledge can keep up the impressive play they could grab the third place spot. Thrilledge's home games will be played at Swarlestar Stadium in Blastings City. In order to advance, Thrilledge must make it through the four straight away games between weeks four and eight. Thrilledge does end with three home games as they look to capitalize on the home-field advantage.

The Firebirds return after a top eight finish last time around, with the number six seed overall, putting considerable pressure on Garbongo to deliver something better than the quarter final blowout defeat at the hands of Bluth Corporation. He is fortunate, though, as Osarius appears to have had a boost in interest toward gridiron football -- perhaps as a result of the University of Utica's second NSCF championship win -- and a noticeably better pool of players to choose from. The increase in quality in his selection pool may be the result of the graduation of many of the standout collegiate players over the past few seasons, most notably the alumni of Mora, Utica and Kyoshiku, who have contested every final of the collegiate championship system in some combination for the past three seasons.

The emergence of former Utica Tigers quarterback Tommy Rhodes as an international standard signal-caller has not gone unnoticed, and has facilitated Garbongo's return of focus to the passing game he used to great effect with his native country's national team. Rhodes' popularity in the dressing room is also a huge factor, as he shares a great rapport with Rashad Jackson -- the Firebirds' star runningback -- and several former college teammates who have broken into the national setup, such as Graham, Alexander, Taylor and Atkinson. The running game is far from neglected, however, as Garbongo has the personnel to field split backs and cause serious damage. Taylor and Jackson have formed a strong partnership for the national team, and their comraderie -- perhaps borne out of their shared alma mater -- sees both willing to sacrifice carries or take a hit while blocking for the other.

Defensively, the Firebirds look far stronger than they have in the past. The secondary features Rigo Kopumava, a collegiate shutdown corner -- elevated to national starting level by Garbongo after his rookie professional season -- and longtime OSAGIF League shutdown corner Wayne Gordon. They are joined by Leon Valero at safety to form a highly athletic, pacy secondary. The pass rush features the fearsome Antonio Martinez -- who is considered one of the most promising defensive talents in the country -- and the blitzing skills of Burningham Bulls defensive captain Donald Rathbone. Against particularly strong offensive lines, the Firebirds will likely rely on the coverage skill of the secondary, though. Unfortunately, despite their prowess against passes -- particularly when thrown deep -- the Firebirds struggle to defend against a strong running game, despite possessing one of their own.

Space Astronauts unchanged for World Bowl 16

The Academy of Space Football Team, which recently participated in the NS College Football Season and the Baptism of Iron competition has been chosen to represent all of Space again in the upcoming World Bowl 16 competition. Being the most experienced Athletes in Space at the moment, it was felt that continuing on the... experience... of participating in the NSCF would give Space the best possible chance to succeed in the World Bowl, looking to build on their runner up finish in the Baptism of Iron competition.

Freshman Comet Jetson really turned heads in the tryouts and is expected to play defensive back. His older brother Impact will join him on the roster. The receiving corps are fast, very fast! And very deep. There is no clear favorite and the receivers will compete each week for their position in the lineup. Likewise, the not-so-accurate Concrete LaDucka will struggle to maintain the starting Quarter Back position without a strong performance in the opening match.

Powerful senior Fullback Noso Faso will likely be a short-yardage specialist in the running game while freshman Marjuli Nitrogen will be looking for some space to run at defenders in open field to show off some skills.

Coach: Cosmo Icii

Cosmo has been coaching the non-competitive team at the Academy of Sport for 3 seasons and was the only candidate considered for the job. As far as the board is concerned, the job is Cosmo's for the entire season, regardless of the record, so long as he doesn't embarrass the school. While not recognized previously by the NSCF, the Academy has attempted to conform to standard practice by identifying those players who are further along in their schooling but never participated in the sport team with the appropriate allocation. The National Assossiation of Space Athletics (NASA) has requested Cosmo double as the National Team coach.

It's On
By Seth Miller, Chrinthani Football Digest

The World Bowl, a vaunted tournament which pits nation against nation not in the throws of war, but in the friendliness of international competition, descends upon us once more. In this edition of the World Bowl, Chrinthanium enters for its second time. The last time was not successful and the Chrinthani withdrew from international competition until now. His Indefatigable Greatness, in his Holy and Infinite Wisdom, has once again allowed the Empire to field a team for the World Bowl. This year, Emperor Alexander VII believes that we can win. He's certain of it, he told reporters earlier today.

"I believe we can win. Not because we are the best, but because we have the strongest heart," His Indefatigable Greatness said as he relaxed by his Olympic-sized swimming pool in his beach-front villa, surrounded by the young and beautiful servants that cater to his every whim. His Indefatigable greatness also promised that the CFL will not be disbanned if they lose the World Bowl. To celebrate, his Indefatigable Greatness has purchased 22 new tigers for the Imperial Zoo and named each one after each starter. He believes this will be the impetus needed for the players to perform their absolute best.

Head Coach Mark Norbert takes the helm this year after leading the Ordona Beach Falcons to the Chrinthani Bowl championship this year. Norbert is known around Chrinthanium as "The Old Ball Coach" and brings his "Shock and Awesome" style of play to the international stage. Known for his preference for the pass, it is expected that Quarterback Shane Reynolds will be called on to perform above and beyond his normal play in the CFL. THe 25 year old, 6'6" 240lbs quarterback is a mobile quarterback who's able to not just beat an opponent with his arm, but with his legs. During the 2011 season, not only did he pass for 4,102 yards, 44 touchdowns, and 17 interception, he also rushed for 1,093 yards and 10 touchdowns.

Flanking Reynolds will be wide receivers Sloan Cunnings and Kai Bolden. Cunnings caught 119 passes for 1,134 yards and 12 touchdowns during the regular season, and Bolden caught 125 passes for 1,002 yards and 14 touchdowns. Cunnings is the star wideout of the Ordona Beach Falcons, and had more YAC yards than any other wide receiver in 2011. Bolden is a strong possession receiver, a go-to man when you need a few yards for a first down. Halfback Tanner Revis, the 27 year old veteran from the Tikiri Eagles, won the 2011 rushing title this year with 376 attempts and rushed for 1,721 yards and 16 touchdowns. Revis is a 6'1" 219 pound stud running back with a powerful downhill game. Tight End Brent Davidson is a beast. This 6'6" 265 pound tight end is pure muscle. Known around the league as the meathead, for his religious work-out routine, this man is one tough character to bring down in the open field often carrying several defenders forward a few yards before finally coming to a rest.

Defensively, the Imperials are using faster, lighter players. This plays well for Defensive Coordinator Jimmy Lucas of the Tikiri Eagles, whose blitz schemes require fast players who can disrupt the opposing quarterback and keep him running away from their pursuit. Cornerback Kyran Phillips had 10 sacks this past season and 7 interceptions--three of which were pick six's. The anchor of the defense of Strong Safety Gavin Lewis, a hard hitting safety who makes players who break into the secondary pay for getting so far. Lews also picked off 4 passes, one which went back for a touchdown.

Home games this year will be played at the newly-built Imperial Stadium in Ordona Beach. Situated in the North, Ordona Beach is a prime beach-front city of 17,456,329, ranked 10th in the nation in population. The warm, tropical climate of Ordona Beach brings tourists from across the vastness of the empire for fun-in-the-sun activities including beach soccer, beach volleyball, deep-sea fishing tours, and sun worshiping. However, Ordona Beach is know as the number one surfing destination in Chrinthanium. Imperial Stadium itself seats just over 102,000 people and is located 1 mile from the beach. The stadium was completed in 2010, and was inaugurated for the 2011 season by His Indefatigable Greatness. The stadium boast state-of-the-art LED High-definition televisions scattered throughout, along with the UltraTron, a 30-foot tall LED Scoreboard. Along the desk edges, LED boards will flash team colors of Cardinal Red, Imperial Black, and White. Each seat has a built-in cup holder for soft drinks or beer, and a ear-phone jack where spectators can plug in their own ear phones and listen to the Chrinthani Broadcast of each game by legendary Football Commentator Les Williams.

This years group schedule for Chrinthanium has almost all of our home games early on, leaving the Chrinthani upset that important matches later on will not be played at home. However, the team is confident that, even though they're ranked low internationally, then can pull off the upset this year. The schedule is as follows.:

2 Toronina (134)

Allamunnic States Daily
Special World Bowl Coverage

Regulars 17, Dagans 13
Late Touchdown Gives Regulars win in rivalry

The Regulars' rivalry with the Dagans is probably the friendliest one the have with any given team. Despite that, it's probably the one (after the infamous Qazox rivalry) that has yielded some of the most intense games, even when very little has been on the line.

The Dagans and Regulars played another exciting one in Cassadaigua, where rookie quarterback Leif Erikson managed to help lead the Regulars to a victory after Maarkus Daalhulm left the game early with a shoulder injury. Other key contributors for the Regulars were running back Ryan Myers and inside linebacker Steven Lindburgh.

Early in the game, the two teams traded field goals. The Dagans got the ball after winning the coin toss. After a thirteen-yard run by Meaghan Sunderland got the Dagans to the Allamunnic 18-yard line, the defense stepped up to force fourth down, as Lindburgh, Ryan, and Laansur combined to prevent Sunderland's two ensuing runs before Honorius Waalturs sacked Brianna Jameson at the Allamunnic 21-yard line. Dagans place-kicker Emily Rutland nailed the field-goal easily, splitting the uprights.

The Dagans' kickoff to the Regulars wound up as a touchback, and Maarkus Daalhulm went under center at their own 20-yard line. The first play was meant to be a pass, but Ashley Mandell managed to find a gap in the line and took Daalhulm down, who left the game nursing an injured shoulder. He will undergo an MRI on Monday. Rookie Leif Erikson took over under center for the Regulars. Myers took the next handoff and managed a four-yard carry to the Allamunnic 24-yard line, setting up third and six for the Regulars. Erikson threw a six-yard completion to tight-end Garrett Kelley, but still pinned deep on fourth down, the team was forced to punt.

The Regular's defense managed to stop the Dagan's next drive before they were able to cross the fifty, and the Regulars took over at their own twenty-six yard line as the second quarter began. On the ensuing drive, Erikson was 3/6 for forty-one yards, and Myers rushed four times for thirty yards before the drive stalled on a Dagans' goal-line stand. Rather than risk coming up short on fourth-down, Phillipa Demirici knocked in a chip-shot to tie the game up, 3-3.

The next Dagans drive started promisingly as they drove down to the Allamunnic thirty-five yard line before a second-down run by Sunderland ended in a fumble, forced by Theo Laansur. Miles Ryan dove on the ball, but the offense came up short as Erikson was picked off in the Cassadagan endzone by Erica Davidson. Once again the Dagans drove down the field only to be stopped at the Allamunnic six-yard line and were forced to settle for another field goal as time in the half expired to take a 6-3 lead.

The Regulars began the second half with the ball, as Andrik Ierunmungur managed to return Rutland's kick-off to the Allamunnic forty-one yard line. From there, Myers rushed five times for thirty-eight yards, while Erikson came up with two big third-down conversions before Myers punched in a two-yard touchdown run (with Demirici's PAT) to give the Regulars their first lead of the game, 10-6.

The Dagans answered quickly, as Jameson connected with tight-end Julie Ayala on a ten-yard touchdown throw. With Rutland's PAT, the Dagans led late in the third quarter, 13-10. That lead looked more and more like it might be the final score as the teams traded punts. The Dagans had the ball at the Allamunnic thirty-three yard line with 5:19 left in the fourth quarter as they attempted to run down the clock. The Allamunnic defense managed to hold them to third down, forcing Jameson to throw, targeting Lauren Barnett. Belle Marquette stepped in front of the pass and intercepted it, running it back to the Allamunnic thirty-five yard line.

With the Dagans crowding the line to stop the run, Erikson threw on first down, continuing down the field, executing a nine-play, 65-yard drive like a veteran before finding Izaak Rolle in the endzone on a twelve-yard throw with 3:31 left in the game. After Demirici booted the PAT, the Regulars had recaptured a substantial lead, 17-13.

As the Dagans took the field again, they were looking to score quickly, a fact that paid off for the Regulars; at the fifty-yard line on the fourth play of the drive, Elias Mourner intercepted a deep pass by Jameson, allowing the Regulars to take control of the ball at their own twenty-three yard line, a point from which they were able to run the clock out for a good beginning to this year's World Bowl campaign.

The results were promising for the Regulars; days after coach Smart announced that the primary half-backs would play on a rotating basis, alternating games, Myers managed to run 16 times for 102 yards and a touchdown, helped by Ole Nurdsunn (three carries, 14 yards) and Myra Dercik (two carries, eight yards), while rookie Leif Erikson in his relief of Maarkus Daalhulm played like a veteran, going 17/25 for 241 yards and a touchdown, with one interception; not super-star numbers, but certainly promising for a first game against a strong rival. Moreover, he completed passes to eight receivers, indicating that he could spread things out and make multiple throws: Izaak Rolle lead the receivers with four catches for 76 yards and a touchdown, with other big contributions made by Willy Theodore, Garrett Kelley, Mikel Dunn, Hael Fokkenmaar and Ryan Sherman. Myra Dercik and Devin Smith also recorded catches.

The defense was also spot-on, forcing two turnovers and limiting the Dagans to one touchdown in four redzone trips, even while Meaghan Sunderland rushed for 103 yards and Brianna Jameson threw for 266 yards and a touchdown.

"This is a good note to go into group play on," Smart said after the game. "Games against Cassadaigua are always tough, and with the curveballs we've had thrown at us in the off-season, it was good to see the team go out and play a good game against a good opponent."

UPDATE: MRI results indicate that QB#5 Maarkus Daalhulm has suffered a torn rotator cuff. He has been ruled out for at least six weeks, with return time to be determined pending further medical examination.

By the stubborn little decencies of humble little men." -Eric Flint, Belisarius II: In The Heart of Darkness
