CASSADAIGUA TRAVEL GUIDE

I) Where is Cassadaigua?

Cassadaigua is in the region of One Big Island. The name of the region is a bit of a misnomer, because it is in fact not one giant landmass. There are two main landmasses, known as North and South Terra, as well as other island nations nearby, such as The Babbage Islands. Cassadaigua is a large nation in South Terra, and is in the southeast of that area. Cassadaigua is bordered by water only to its south and east, and by the nation of Kiermark to the north. To the west were former regulars Secristan, which was taken over by Newmanistan, but now they no longer exist either. The Cassadagan does not intend to try and take over these ceased lands. While some will recognize The Babbage Islands as also being a One Big Island nation, note that they are in an entirely different corner of the region! BrightonBurg, a nation some of you may also recognize is close to sharing a border with us, but not quite.

II) How do I get there?

Your best bet is to fly in. Cassadaigua is a modern country, so there are airports all over the nation in which you can fly into. In addition, we have a "frightening" economy, so chances are we have airlines that can service your nation or a nearby nation. If you wanted, you could get here by sea easily, but we trust that flying in would be the best bet.

III) Culture

Cassadaigua is 61% female, and is a female-dominated society. People from Cassadaigua are called Cassadagans, or simply, Dagans. Where some nations may have gender discrimination in regards to the male being the superior gender, everything is the exact opposite in Cassadaigua. For example, when a woman and a man get married, the women's surname is what passes on, not the man's. It is a myth, however, to think that men are completely oppressed here. The civil rights organization known as MEN, or Male Equality Now, is trying to narrow the gap between women and men. They have had some successes in recent years, but have a long way to go. Other forms of discrimination, such as due to age, disability, sexual preference, race, or religion is illegal; but you still may run into the occasional narrow-minded drunk at a game or in the streets.

Once you put aside the untraditional roles of the woman and man, Cassadaigua isn't much different from other countries of the modern world. The people are passionate about most sports but also can enjoy the finer things in life as well. Most people are religious, although there is not one set religion that is followed exclusively, and tolerance of all religions is in effect.

Politically, Cassadaigua is ruled by Queen Cassie. However, at the local level, there are democracies all over with the only caveat being that a winning candidate must receive the blessing of the Queen in order to take office. Typically, the Queen gives this blessing of the candidates before an election, so that the populace can vote with confidence that the winning candidate will be accepted by Her Majesty.

IV) Cities
The Capital of Cassadaigua is Concord Heights, and it is in the northeast of the country. Other big cities that will host games include: Grande Mountain, New Lakeland, Brattleboro, Rutland, Winchester, Victoriaville and Starksville. More information on these cities will be provided when stadium information is updated!

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Concord Heights Stadium (Concord Heights), 77,000

Geographic Location: Northeastern

About the Area: Centrally located in the capital city of Concord Heights, this stadium has frequently hosted games by all of our national teams. It is where group stage games in all appropriate sports are held in international competitions. With that, there is a ton of history, and it will be immediately obvious to all visitors. The South End Zone has a “Monument Wall” in honor of these players; think Yankee Stadium. The North End Zone has something similar in honor of World Baseball Classic players. Along the east (home) sideline, at around the 50-yard line, are banners and plaques honoring Cassadaigua’s World Bowl history. At the 50-yard line on the west sideline, a plaque will be created in honor of the team that wins the World Bowl, which will stand beside such an award honoring Sarzonia’s World Baseball Classic 18 Championship team. (They won that here at this stadium).

Outside of the stadium, there is plenty to do given that Concord Heights is the largest city in the nation. If it can be found in a modern country, it can be found in Concord Heights. (OOC: United States city comparison: New York City, but as a national capital).

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Grande Mountain Stadium (Grande Mountain), 64,250

Geographic Location: North-Central

About the Area: Central Cassadaigua is a mountainous area, in Grande Mountain is exactly what you’re probably thinking it is by the name. Despite it being a high altitude city, it is the third largest city in the nation. It is a conservative and traditional area, so the men’s rights movement has struggled somewhat to reach these heights. (OOC: United States city comparison: Denver).

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Brattleboro Field, (Brattleboro), 82,300

Geographic Location: Central-East Coast

About the Area: Brattleboro is the fastest growing city in Cassadaigua, and has just recently passed Grande Mountain to take over the #2 spot in national population. This stadium is the most modern in the country, having recently been constructed given the booming population and it might not be a stretch in the future to see more national team games head to Brattleboro. It is also a younger city, demographically, which would make sense given the population shift. Locals do get annoyed sometimes when their city is referred to as “Battleboro” instead. We suggest therefore, not doing that.

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Courtney Ferguson Stadium (Rutland), 54,120

Geographic Location: South-Central

About the Area: This is the only stadium named after a person so far, Courtney Ferguson is considered an icon in that was the captain of our first ever international sport team, and then made a name for herself in other parts of the world also, such as Candelaria And Marquez and Nethertopia. Rutland is where she was born and grew up, making it more appropriate for this to be the stadium named for her. It is a large city, and like Grande Mountain in its traditional ways. It is also a mountain-city, but not at all to the extent of Grande Mountain.

Stadium, Location, Capacity: New Lakeland Stadium (New Lakeland), 75,000

Geographic Location: Northwest

About the Area: When Newmanistan conquered the ceased Secristani lands, and there was a dispute over who got what between us and them, we were awarded the city of Lakeland, which was a large Secristani city. The city name was changed to “New Lakeland”, but it has struggled to become a true Cassadagan culture, given what it once was. Because of that, the city has a higher percentage of men then women (as that’s where there is the least gender discrimination). The old stadium was torn down, and replaced, so while the city has hosted games in the past that Secristan would have applied to it, this particular stadium is new to international play.

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Winchester College Field (Winchester), 46,330

Geographic Location: Central

About the Area: Winchester has become an area where a lot of older people migrate too for their retirement, not as much because of warmer temperatures but the hills and valleys of this area make for some amazing scenery. The locals vetoed a plan for a separate stadium in the city, and are content to use the facilities on the campus of Winchester College for sports and entertainment. Most of the people who attend Winchester College are daughters and sons of these retirees and many can’t wait to “get out”. The locals aren’t that excited with the amount of tourists the World Bowl will bring, but they approved the plan, because they want to spend your dollars you bring in at the bingo halls once you leave.

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Starksville Sports Complex (Starksville), 62,360

Geographic Location: Southeast

About the Area: Starksville has a lot in common with Brattleboro in that it is experiencing a population boom, and it too created the local sports complex which is a pretty massive area, containing separate stadiums for football, soccer, and baseball; as well as an indoor arena. Near the facility, is a large area of casino and resorts just begging to distract your players.

Stadium, Location, Capacity: Victoriaville Stadium (Victoriaville), 44,290

Geographic Location: Southwest

About the Area: There’s nothing wrong with Victoriaville, but it was mainly added so that citizens in the southwestern part of the country could have a place nearby. It’s a pretty typical medium-sized city.

The Thrilledge Dreadlocks National Football Team

The Thrilledge Dreadlocks run a spread option offense that is primarily run out of the shotgun with a mostly no-huddle look, and focuses on options, play-action, and quick passing. The defensive scheme is a 4-3, but the nickel scheme is used quite a lot using a 4-2-5.

Qazox' WB 16 Roster

Postby Qazox » Tue Nov 08, 2011 9:00 pm

NO MORE ALLAMUNNIC STATES!

The rally cry from around Qazox as the 16th World Bowl approaches, is NO MORE ALLAMUNNIC STATES! or NO MAS! for short. In each of the last 3 World Bowls, Qazox and AMS have met in the playoffs and AMS has eliminated Qazox everytime. The protest group NO MAS! has vowed to ensure that Qazox does not lose to AMS in the playoffs this tourney.

Leader of NO MAS, one Durburto Roban, had this to say at a recent rally:
We didn't mind the rivalry, we just mind that the World Bowl Commitee and their referees blatantly being biased towards AMS in our recent meetings and we will do everything in our power to prevent our two teams from playign each other this World Bowl cycle. We'll protest, occupy Cassadaigua, or riot to prevent another meeting. Unless it's the World Bowl final.

The Qazoxian Gridiron Association declined to comment on the formation of NO MAS! or the comments of Durburto Roban. The team has released the roster of the team that will attempt to bring home a 2nd World Bowl title for Qazox.

Excerpt from Autumn Thunder: My Days on the Gridiron, by Daniel Rickenbacher.

By now the story is probably infamous about how I wound up being the head coach of the Allamunnic national gridiron team for a week duirng the World Bowl. The fact is, the whole thing started a few weeks before training camp. I was with my wife, as our second child (a beautiful little girl, Elaine) was born, and as a result, I was scheduled to report to the training camp a few days late.

Luckiest day ever to come into work late.

One of the players caught something contagious (I missed the details on what), and brought it with him to training camp. The whole team present, and the coaching staff, too, were all infected, soon, and even those that didn't get sick were quarantined with the rest of the team, just to be sure.

Before anyone starts thinking "Zombie Apocalypse!", I must say: Sorry, no.

No such thing happened, and the damn thing passed soon enough. But since nobody was still quite sure what the damn bug was, only players and coaches who hadn't been there at the time were permitted to go abroad for that year's World Bowl.

Like I said, luckiest day to skip work ever. I was one of two coaches that hadn't been present, and there were only a handful of players that had missed the thing, too.

And, as the most experienced of those two coaches (the other was first-year linebacker coach Jethro Myers), rather than bring in someone from outside of the organization, I got a promotion. They stressed that it was temporary. I believed them. Besides, it's not like I was coveting the job or something. I was happy as a position coach.

The next day, I took a glance at the impromptu roster I had been provided with. It had all the players that had missed the little faux-pandemic.

It looked something like this (and with my thoughts at the time added on):

QB#5 Maarkus Daalhulm (How is he still moving?)
QB#9 Leif Erikson (Really?)
HB#27 Danyl Wyndhorst (We had Haanryk for six years. Now we go through halfbacks the way sick people go through tissues)
HB#25 Hal Fredriksun (Guess we gotta have a back-up)
FB#45 John Kaiser (Oh, cool! A fullback!)
TE#86 Zackary Hall (Someone workable)
WR#85 William Theodore (Thank God)
WR#6 Hael Fokkenmaar (Sounds Skraelingian. Good)
WR#87 Izaak Rolle (Good, I guess?)
OT#74 Theodur Fokkenmaar (Don't know him)
OT#61 Danyl Bloem (Don't know him)
OT#65 Alexander Weimar (Know him)
OG#54 Junn Lohr (Don't know him)
OG#50 Derrik Hael (Don't know him)
OG#55 Paul Erikson (Know him)
C#66 Haanryk Suldurmunn (Don't know him)
C#73 Durik Saenmikel (Know him)

DT#90 Gaarutt Jorgesun (Who?)
DE#98 Archleone Wagner (Hell yeah!)
DE#79 Ryan Walkerton (Who?)
OLB#42 Daniel Chessen (Very good)
OLB#45 Steven Lindburgh (Don't know him)
ILB#44 Danley Vicious (That is an awesome name)
ILB#48 Leopyld Udunsunn (Also good)
CB#1 Isabelle Marquette (YES!)
CB#13 Julius Harkness (Livable, I guess)
FS#26 Leif Coelmunn (We can work with him)
SS#10 Elias Mourner (Oh HELL YEAH!)

K#3 Phillipa Demirici (We are so lucky)

So we had something to work with. What I wasn't sure about was the quality of what we had. There were a lot of unknowns.

But that just meant it was time to get to work, like we always did.

How Can We End the Funk?

Folks, this is distressing. Everyone knows, of course, that in the last three World Bowls we've finished in the top three. But we haven't won any of them. Sure, we had that championship six years ago, but that was six years ago. It's ridiculous that this latest run at the top hasn't produced a championship. What's been going wrong?

Let's think about it for a minute. We've lost a total of two group-play games in the last three World Bowls. We trample through the playoffs, but sputter out at the very end. And it can always be traced back to some fluke in our play, something that's never happened before, some anomaly or ailment that holds us down right when it matters most. It can't be what we're doing wrong. It's got to be chance.

Folks, I think our luck's running out. We're using up all of our luck in the group stage, throwing people aside left and right, so that by the time we get to the end of the playoffs we've got none left. The solution is obvious: we've got to build up a reserve supply of luck big enough to last us all the way through the playoffs.

The problem is that with our usual performance, we'll just have more of the same. So what I think we should do is cast this season aside. Let's be as unlucky as we can this year, so that next year we'll have a huge account of luck we can draw on to go all the way. Obviously, simply playing down won't work--because if we're doing it on purpose, then it's not luck that's losing us. So we just have to hope and pray that everything that can go wrong this year, can, so that we'll have enough luck next year for everything to go right.

Folks, I say we should SUCK for LUCK!

Nation: Federal Republic of Allamunnic States
Official Nickname: The Regulars
Unofficial Nicknames: the Blue-and-Grey, Allamunnae

Head Coach: Ryan Smart (Age: 36)
Smart is a talented coach who is coming into his own as a recruiter and as an offensive and defensive mind. Smart’s Flex Offense is one meant to control the clock or score quickly as needed; his work has ensured that the team is not bound by being either a ball-control team or a team noted for airing it out. He is therefore also responsible for the size of the team’s roster, intended to keep personnel on hand capable of playing in whatever fronts and situations required by the team. Smart is also noted for keeping his predecessor’s Flex Defensive system, noted for utilizing the 4-3 and 3-4 in equal parts and for being adaptable and stifling.

General Manager: Benjamin Jameson (Age: 54) – Jameson is a behind-the-scenes wizard who has managed to turn an underfunded and underperforming Allamunnic national side into a perennial championship contender, loading the team with talent, and retaining veterans and bringing in fresh blood in equal parts.

Special Teams Coordinator: Harvey O'Bannon (Age: 59) – O’Bannon is doing the best he can to turn one of the Allamunnic national team’s traditional weaknesses into a strength, or at least a solid component of a team believed to be long-overdue for a championship.

Offensive Coaching Staff
Offensive Coordinator: Leon Rodriksunn (Age: 44)
Rodriksunn is actually mostly a personnel manager; Smart tends to call the plays on offense, and the official OC is more responsible for getting the right players onto the field for a given situation and for being a voice of counsel and experience for Smart.

Quarterbacks Coach: John McClelland (Age: 49) – McClelland spent twenty years in Allamunnic gridiron as a journeyman quarterback, with all the intangibles but only a few of the tangible aspects that made for a great; the fact that he knows his stuff probably better than most QB coaches make him an ideal man to have helping the young QBs develop and help Daalhulm rehabilitate.

Running Backs Coach: Willy Zimmermann (Age: 54) – Zimmermann is noted for putting together strong groups of running backs every year, despite a high rate of turnover since star Haanryk Stahlburg departed a few years back. It looks like he may have outdone himself this year, though, with the same one-two punch of Nurdsunn and Dercik, but adding general weapons Myers and Wyndhorst, who likely still have a few years of development in them before they reach their full potential.

Receivers Coach: Zack Quinn (Age: 58) – Quinn is an old receiver who played in a domestic league that wasn’t exactly receiver friendly, and managed to do well in spite of that and in spite of being of more or less average talent. Given the young group of receivers he has, Quinn should have a tall order of guiding this group into maturity, even if he does have star veterans in Mikel Dunn and Willy Theodore on hand.

Offensive Line Coach: Leon Rodriksunn (Age: 44) – Rodriksunn’s other job is as offensive line coach. This gives him probably the best understanding of the offense’s personnel; the offensive line is probably the most crucial part of the Allamunnic offense, which has functioned with stop-gap quarterbacks and solid running backs before, but never without a strong offensive line.

Defensive Coaching Staff:
Defensive Coordinator: Theo Dahlstadt (Age: 48)
Dahlstadt, on the other hand, does the defensive play-calling, and is more or less left to his own devices by Smart; Dahlstadt has led one of the world’s best defenses for several years, now, and there’s no reason to mess around with a winning formula. Together with former head coach Staevan Vaalburger, Dahlstadt is the architect of the team’s multi-look, flexible defense which has gotten the Allamunnic squad to the playoffs many times.

Defensive Line Coach: Daniel Rickenbacher (Age: 46) – Rickenbacher served on the defensive line he now coaches for many years, and finished his twenty-year career with the national team. The knowledge he accumulated in that time, and his experiences on the field make him an excellent choice to help develop young players for one of the team’s best units. He also seems to have made developing rookie Ryan Walkerton a personal goal.

Linebackers Coach: Jethro Myers (Age: 41) – Myers replaces Greg McCoy, who left for a head-coaching job in the domestic league. Myers is not far removed from his time as a linebacker with the Thomasburg Ironmongers, and while he wasn’t a standout, he knew his position as well as anyone, and is ready to impart that knowledge to a group of developing young linebackers.

Secondary Coach: Marissa DeMarke (Age: 48) – DeMarke has helped a secondary that has traditionally been the weak link in the Allamunnic defense become a strength of one of the best defensive units in the world.

Choose Scorers: I'd rather you didn't. If you do choose my scorers, if I RP within twenty-four hours, I may ask you to change my scorers. This is due to specific story-lines and characters I want to emphasize.
Injure Players: You may injure my players; I'd prefer you not injure more than two or three in a game, and while the injury may end the player's involvement in that game, I will decide on any further inactivity for a player caused by injury.
Penalize Players: Any team considered to be a rival of the Allamunnic States (i.e. Qazox, Cassadaigua, Civil Citizenry), pretty much gets a pass to do this at will; those games may slip into 'dirty' territory. Anyone else may penalize, but should keep it realistic.
Godmod Injuries: Yes, but with same provisos as injuring players through normal means. I determine severity outside game-ending (for the player).
Godmod Other Events: Don't kill anyone or conflict with any of the above permissions. Also, if you're gonna do this, have some fun with it.
Photographs: Please do not use photographs with any players intended to depict players on my team.
Note: All players have stats of Age, Height, Weight, Tendencies, College, and Hometown provided, along with a brief description.

Overview:
This is a similar, but still notably different team from in previous years, due to the high number of replacement players brought in. A core group of veterans and leaders managed to make it, but most of the regular national team is still under quarantine, and has left a team with some discipline problems, a bunch of unproven players, and a scrappy underdog mentality that the team has long prided itself on. The offensive and defensive systems may have changed slightly, and there may be lots of new faces, but this is still an Allamunnic team, and is capable of playing with the best of them.

Offense:
Style: Balanced Power-Oriented
Primary Front: Four-Wide Single-Back
Overview:
The Allamunnic offense, despite being a balanced offense in name and play-book breakdown, is in practice returning to its run-first roots. This is largely because of the preseason emergence of two very good running backs, and the fact of Maarkus Daalhulm's on-going recovery and backup Leif Erikson's inexperience. That said, Daalhulm is still a reliable veteran under center and the receiver corps is as talented as ever, so nobody should be able to write off the passing attack, even if they will be a little more hesitant to use it unless necessary.

Quarterbacks:

QB#9 Leif Erikson - Age: 20; H: 6'2"; W: 215lbs - Balanced - Innsbruck University - Muhlenburg, Ostrea - The Allamunnic national gridiron team has this weird obsession with picking out quarterbacks that fly under the radar. Whether or not there's a reason that this guy did just that remains to be seen, but the team's scouts seem to have confidence in their choice to recruit Erikson.

QB#12 – Zofya Hanriksun – Age: 25; H: 6’0”; W: 165lbs – Scrambler – Vienna Women’s Academy – St. Theodore, Ostrea – Zofya’s recovery from her injuries from World Bowl 15 has been more complete than that of some of her team-mates. Given the amount of work she put into her upper body in the off-season while her legs recovered, her arm-strength and throwing technique have had time to improve considerably. Add a slightly-reduced propensity to scrambling (her physical therapy on her legs is still on-going), and Zofya now resembles a balanced quarterback at home in the pocket more than she ever has.

QB#5 – Maarkus Daalhulm – Age: 33; H: 6’4”; W: 225lbs – Balanced – Federal Army (Cataphracts) - Skarrsboro, Skraelingia – Somehow Daalhulm is still upright and breathing after suffering severe injuries in the first-round playoff game last year. And he looks about the same as he ever has, with the same lack of regard for his own safety as always.

Halfbacks

HB#27 Danyl Wyndhorst - Age: 19; H: 5'11"; W: 220lbs - Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Shieldsburg, Tyrrswatch - In a preseason victory over the Koenigshalloe Kings, Wyndhorst took his first carry as a Regular. He didn't disappoint, breaking a 94-yard touchdown run, breaking eight tackles on his way to the endzone, two of them by defensive linemen. He finished his first ever game with 121 yards on five carries and one touchdown. This is a special kid.

HB#24 Ryan Myers - Age: 20; H: 6'0"; W: 224lbs - Balanced - US Dunnmaar - Fahlsburg, Stalhamark - Myers had a good day in a preseason exhibition game against the Koenigshalloe Kings, carrying twelve times for 107 yards and a touchdown. He doesn't have Wyndhorst's power up the middle of the field, but he's strong enough to look respectable between the tackles, and fast enough to be dangerous running off-tackle or to the outside.

HB#29 – Myra Dercik – Age: 26; H: 5’5”; W: 146lbs – Speed – University of Kohlenburg – Meuse, Northwatch – University of Kohlenburg - Dercik is the fragile speedster among the halfbacks, with more emphasis on the latter than the former. Dercik is only good between the tackles so long as she gets good blocks from the offensive line. Running to the outside, or playing as a receiving halfback, though, is another story entirely. One of the fastest players in the offense, Dercik, if she gets free, is always a threat to take one to the house.

Fullbacks:

FB#44 – Ole Nurdsunn – Age: 26; H: 6’1”; W: 244lbs – Power – UT Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – A running back as powerful as Nurdsunn is not normal. Given his tendency to flatten linebackers and punch through defensive four-fronts, there's not many outside of the stronger linebackers and defensive linemen who have a good chance of taking him down unassisted. That said, Ole's not overly fast, and lacks much in the way of break-away capability. At most, expect him to gain twenty yards on a really good run, unless he rips off a flattening-spree, in which case he might go longer simply because there's nobody large enough that is still upright to bring him down. His love of hitting people has seen him moved to fullback this year, so most of his carries will be short-yardage downs, and his blocking load will increase. And he is quite fine with this.

FB#40 John Kaiser - Age: 24; H: 6'2"; W: 245lbs - Power - Northwatch State University - Meuse, Northwatch - The decision was made this year to use an actual fullback in offensive schemes this year to accomplish the job of lead-blocking and pass-protection when called upon. Expect Kaiser to get playing time if Nurdsunn goes down for some reason, or in goal-line sets, where Nurdsunn will be in at halfback.

Tight Ends:

TE#88 – Zack Hall – Age: 28; H: 6’4”; W: 244lbs – Balanced - Grimmeburg State University - Grimmeburg, Piikslund - Hall resembles nothing so much as a slightly-less-talented Willy Theodore; Hall plays pretty much the same way, and acts more as an inside receiver than a classic tight-end. Hall will probably get some rotation time, but he's not about to become a major target or playmaker any time soon, in all likelihood.

TE#89 - Garrett Kelley - Age: 24; H: 6'4"; W: 245lbs - Balanced - Northwatch State University - Northwatch, Northwatch - Kelley is a younger tight-end, but who bears a striking resemblance to Hall and Theodore in playing style, even if he lacks the latter's explosiveness. He's a bit less likely to get as much playing time as Hall, but he'll likely be a useful package and rotating player.

Wide Receivers:

WR#85 – Willy Theodore – Age: 31; H: 6’5”; W: 235lbs – Balanced - St. Theodore Catholic College - Innsbruck, Ostrea - The coaches finally decided to treat Theodore as what he really is; a notable deep threat, a physical player, and a candidate to be any quarterback’s security blanket. He is a critical player in terms of his knack for making big plays and covering his responsibilities with care and thoroughness. Theodore has a tendency to rip would-be interceptions out of hapless cornerbacks’ hands, and for flattening defensive backs. Leave him single-covered at your own risk. Offensive Captain.

WR#4 – Mikel Dunn – Age: 33; H: 6’4”; W: 217lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Uniontown, Stalhamark – Thomasburg State University - If there’s one player that fits the stereotype of the big-play receiver, it’s Mikel Dunn, one of the most dangerous targets for any quarterback. Dunn’s got hands like magnets covered in glue, plenty of jumping ability, break-away speed, and enough size and strength to be a physical player. In other words, God help you if you underestimate a weapon like Dunn.

WR#86 – Hael Fokkenmaar – Age: 22; H: 6’1”; W: 200lbs – Balanced – Innsbruck University – Udunsfurd, Skraelingia - Hael is another young receiver added to the team to bring more youth to a largely-veteran receiving corps. He has some big-play potential. That said, there’s no way to be sure what he’ll be able to accomplish until he actually plays.

WR#87 – Izaak Rolle – Age: 23; H: 6’3”; W: 217lbs – Balanced - None - Vienna, Ostrea - Izaak has the stigma of having failed to earn a college scholarship to play on the gridiron. Having instead gone straight to the national team based on scouting and analysis of his potential alone, Rolle has trained at a level that has impressed teammates and coaches, both in his work-ethic and in his skill. Rolle's still developing a little bit, so he's likely to make the occasional mistake, but those shouldn't be too much of a problem for the team.

WR#81 – Ryan Sherman - Age: 24; H: 6'0"; W: 185lbs - Speed - University of Copenhagen - Tyrrswatch, Tyrrswatch - Sherman is a new player brought in to add some depth to a receiver corps gutted by the team's pre-season incident. He's nothing special, but he's got some good speed to contribute, and should prove useful. Serves as a kick and punt returner.

WR#80 – Devin Smith – Age: 23; H: 6’4”; W: 215lbs – Balanced – US Thomasburg – Thomasburg, Stalhamark – Smith is a player who managed to sneak his way into the playing-rotation without anyone in the press noticing. Smith's posessed of some amazing speed, some notable size, and good hands, making him a solid option for the team's quarterbacks and a reliable target. Smith's still a developing player fresh out of college, but all signs are saying that he has a bright future ahead of him.

WR#11 – Erika Gaines – Age: 29; H: 6’0”; W: 174lbs – Speed – Waalturs University – Longburg, Piikslund – Waalturs University of Stalhamark - Having saved her career with the national team with a stand-out campaign two years ago and reliable numbers last year, Gaines returns as a #3 receiver and a proven weapon for the Regulars' offense. Gaines will rotate with the other wide receivers, or might occasionally play inside-receiver on slants and similar plays when her blazing speed is called for. Though she will drop some throws that other receivers might catch, it's generally not too egregious, and her ability to get open more than makes up for it.

WR#20 – Jared Longwell - Age: 25; H: 6'2"; W: 208lbs - Balanced - University of Maarkenburg - Thomasburg, Stalhamark - Longwell is a new player brought in to add some depth to a receiver corps gutted by the team's pre-season incident. He's nothing special, but he's not too bad, either.

Offensive Line:

LT#76 – Alexander Weimar - Age: 24; H: 6’5”; W: 323lbs – Balanced – UN Meuse - Meuse, Northwatch - Weimar is a strong left-tackle. He's got more experience in run-first systems, but he's a capable pass-protector as well. As always, no lineman starts for an entire game by himself; rotation is the norm.

LT#61 – Danyl Bloem - Age: 21; H: 6'5"; W: 320lbs - Balanced - US Thomasburg - Dunnmaar, Stalhamark - Bloem is another solid left-tackle, more than capable of starting himself. Bloem will rotate with Weimar to keep the line fresh.

LT#72 – Waaltur Stroenheim – Age: 32; H: 6’8”; W: 325lbs – Balanced – USk Thursfeld – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Stroenheim is the most experienced left-tackle the team has. He’s big, and he’s strong, and he will end you.

LT#70 – Carolus Hoenzorn – Age: 21; H: 6’3”; W: 310lbs – Balanced – Fredrick University – Fredrik, Tyrrswatch – Hoenzorn is a rookie out of Fredrick University who, compared to the other left tackles on the Allamunnic squad, is somewhat undersized. That said, he’s certainly not too small to do the job, and it’s left him with a scrappy underdog attitude.

LG#54 – Junn Lohr - Age: 22; H: 6'2"; W: 312lbs - Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Skarrsboro, Skraelingia - Lohr is a vicious blocker, which is good, because the guards are probably the two most important men on the line for the Allamunnic squad.

LG#68 – Eric Ridgeway - Age: 25; H: 6'3"; W: 314lbs - Balanced - Leif's Harbor College - Wilsonville, Skraelingia - Ridgeway lacks Lohr's anger-managment issues, which as a frequently-pulling guard on a team that prides itself on running the ball, is a little more of an issue than one might think.

LG#75 – Archie Erikson – Age: 31; H: 6’2”; W: 316lbs – Balanced – Leif’s Harbor College – Markenburg, Tyrrswatch – Erikson is the most experienced left guard available, and will open up some great running holes. Also, he will end you.

LG#60 – Leonard Kindbom – Age: 24; H: 6’2”; W: 316lbs – Balanced – UT Zagreb – Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch – Kindbom is a younger guard who will contribute to the third quarter.

C#73 – Durik Saenmikel - Age: 24; H: 6’4”; W: 320lbs – Balanced – USk Skarrsboro - Saen Maarkus, Skraelingia - Saenmikel is one of the players that has mercifully been able to meet up with the replacement team to help provide a steady hand on a cobbled-together offensive line. Saenmikel plays with the same mentality as most Allamunnic guards, which means he's a nasty blocker, and tends to enjoy taking on nose-tackels one-on-one, a task he seems more than up to.

C#66 – Haanryk Suldurmunn - Age: 22; H: 6'2"; W: 314lbs - Balanced - USk Skarrsboro - Aaldurhaal, Skraelingia - Suldurmunn is a more than capable backup to Saenmikel, and is another blocker who enjoys hitting opponents maybe just a little too much.

C#67 – Theodur Suldurmunn – Age: 33; H: 6’1”; W: 308lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen – Saen Maarkus, Skraelingia – Suldurmunn is a long-time veteran of the Allamunnic national squad, and though he’s probably starting to near the end of his career, Suldurmunn is likely to continue to be a big-time contributor at center.

C#53 – Roderik Laansur – Age: 22; H: 6’0”; W: 302lbs – Balanced – Leif’s Harbor College – Vienna, Ostrea – Laansur is adding another bit of youth to the offensive line. Part of the fourth cohort, he’ll see his share of action, if not as much as some of the others.

RG#55 – Paul Erikson - Age: 24; H: 6’1”; W: 316lbs – Balanced - UT Copenhagen - Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch - Erikson is a firm believer that there are few things more enjoyable than what his old 'ball coach called "HMF"-ing. Or, for the unenlightened, "Hitting a Motherf---er." Never has a pulling guard been more dangerous.

RG#50 – Derrik Hael - Age: 21; H: 6'2"; W: 310lbs - Balanced - Leif's Harbor College - Saen Mikel, Skraelingia - Hael doesn't take quite the same glee in blindsiding people that Erikson does. Not that he doesn't enjoy it, but his main joy comes from stonewalling cocky defensive linemen, instead.

RG#63 – Hanrik Wurfytur – Age: 30; H: 6’2”; W: 318lbs – Balanced – US Dunnmaar – Skarrsboro, Skraelingia – Wurfytur is a very capable and very aggressive right guard who helped power the Allamunnic rushing attack in its earlier years. Wurfytur may be getting a little long in the tooth, but he’s still a powerful blocker.

RG#56 – Ryan Grimm – Age: 21; H: 6’1”; W: 303lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore – Tyrrswatch, Tyrrswatch – Grimm is a newer guard brought onto the team who will see time with the fourth cohort. Grimm’s smaller than average for the team’s offensive line, but makes up for it with an aggressive mentality.

RT#74 – Theodur Fokkenmaar – Age: 21; H: 6'3"; W: 314lbs – Balanced – Leif's Harbor College – Leif's Harbor, Ostrea – Fokkenmaar is a right tackle who's good at both pass protection and run blocking, and takes a great amount of satisfaction in doing both effectively.

RT#76 – John Grossman – Age: 23; H: 6'4"; W: 318lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Derrick, Piikslund – Grossman is a solid all-around player, but isn't at the same level of talent as some of the other tackles. He'll fill in in a pinch, and will help keep the others fresh, but don't expect him to do a whole lot beyond the basics of his job.

RT#71 – Gragur Stroenheim – Age: 32; H: 6’8”; W: 330lbs – Balanced – Bowler University – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Stroenheim is a big strong tackle, much like his brother on the other side of the line. Stroenheim brings valuable experience to the line, and will see action with the third cohort.

RT#52 – Vaalhulm Rikken – Age: 24; H: 6’6”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – Rumanika College – Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch – Rikken is another younger lineman brought on to gain some experience, and who will see action with the fourth cohort, playing every fourth game, at most.

Defense:
Style: Blitz-Heavy
Primary Front: 3-4
Overview:
The defensive base-front has changed, but the overall blitz-heavy approach has not. The defensive line is lacking in the same immense level of talent that it normally has, but it still has sufficient talent to do the job it is called upon to do. Meanwhile, a young and extremely talented linebacking corps is the heart of this defense, and the secondary is probably the best it has ever been; the Regulars are a team that believes in the mantra that "offense wins games but defense wins championships."

Defensive Tackles:

DT#95 – Theodur Laansur – Age: 32; H: 6’8”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – Federal Army – Dunnmaar, Stalhamark – Theo is probably one of the best defensive linemen playing at the moment, and it's not just because he's large. Laansur is physically a large enough man that his heft isn't indicative of speed problems or abnormal health problems: he's just really big. He's no speedster, but Laansur is quick enough on his feet that he's a menace to inside-rushers, and can put some hurt on any quarterback who underestimates him. While his main role is as a run-stopper, as a line-anchor in the 3-4, he'll find playing time in pretty much every front.

DT#62 – Haanryk Faalks – Age: 24; H: 6’3”; W: 328lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Faalks turned out to be a useful defensive tackle, and has been moved up to help replace the retiring Leon Thornburger. Faalks lacks experience, but has some good explosiveness and has a knack for clogging up the line, while also having a good nose for passers and ball-carriers. There might be a couple of teething issues, but Faalks should give good service on the team for some time to come.

DT#94 – Danny Mallett – Age: 26; H: 6’5”; W: 330lbs – Balanced – UH Nocksburg – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Faalks’ partner in crime is Danny Mallett, who is nothing if not a capable tackle. Similarly inexperienced to Faalks, Mallet has seen a little more action, but is much more of a run-stopper than Faalks, even if he's not too shabby against the pass either. Mallett will likely team up with Faalks out of a 4-3 set, leaving Grahulm to be Laansur's partner when they're in.

DT#90 – Gaarutt Jorgesun - Age: 22; H: 6’4”; W: 324lbs – Balanced – UT Zagreb - Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch - Jorgeson is a new player added initially as a practice-squad member, but who is now being forced to step up, due to the forced inactivity of the rest of the defensive tackles. Due to this deficiency, the team has also switched to the 3-4 as the team's default front.

DT#92 – Jason Sounder - Age: 23; H: 6'4"; W: 310lbs - Rusher - Inneville, Fililund - Sounder is a more explosive D-tackle, who can cause some damage on the inside, or force double teams. Sounder is more likely to get action out of 4-3 fronts.

Defensive Ends:

DE#98 – Archie Wagner - Age: 29; H: 6’2”; W: 288lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore - Vienna, Ostrea - A sharp contrast to Honorius Waalturs' quiet professionalism, Archie Wagner is an energetic, boistrous, and obviously intelligent player. Archie actually sometimes has too much energy; he won't sit still prior to a snap, instead shuffling and moving around to confuse offensive blocking schemes. He seems to be a rather smart player, or at least he has a strong grasp of psychology. Archie loves to get in O-linemen's grills, just to try to provoke them into stupid penalties, which seems to work rather well. Because he's not 'silent-but-deadly' like Waalturs, many people miss the fact that Wagner actually is almost as good.

DE#58 – Honorius Waalturs – Age: 29; H: 6’1”; W: 266lbs – Balanced – US Dunnmaar – Skarrsboro, Skraelingia – Waalturs is the marquee player on the defensive line for the team. Waalturs is very fast and strong, and tends to make most right tackles look like fools. As athletic as he is, it's no surprise that Waalturs is also very flexible, being usable as both a pass-rusher and an outside-run-stopper. He possesses an impressive work-ethic and is as civil and polite as they come on and off the field, which has a jarring dissonance with his tendency to slam people violently to the ground between the whistles.

DE#59 – Ryan Walkerton - Age: 20; H: 6’4”; W: 273lbs – Balanced – UT Copenhagen - Dunnmaar, Stalhamark - Walkerton is Wagner's new partner in crime on the line. He's a good player, even if he needs some work; luckily, he's probably got the best possible coaching staff to help him develop his raw talents. That said, he's still poised to make an immediate contribution.

DE#91 – Dareus Bryant – Age: 28; H: 6’2”; W: 294lbs – Balanced – UP Derrick – Derrick, Piikslund – Bryant is a solid, all-around defensive end who can play the run or the pass solidly. He's still developing, so he's not getting a whole lot of playing time yet, but Bryant is talented, so he'll be a strong contributor once he starts living up to his potential.

DE#79 – Zack Steele – Age: 24; H: 6’2”; W: 293lbs – Balanced – UP Derrick – Fondor, Piikslund – Steele, despite being rather inexperienced, has picked up a lot from his short stint with the practice squad; he's been deemed good enough for the big show now, and so he's been placed into the rotation on the defensive line, one of the better such units in the world. Steele is still a pass-rusher first and foremost, but his run-stopping abilities have improved vastly in the year since WB13.

Outside Linebackers:

OLB#42 – Daniel Chessen - Age: 26; H: 6’2”; W: 251lbs – Balanced – US Rone - Leif's Harbor, Ostrea - Danny has proven himself a capable outside linebacker who can blitz hard to take down rushers, contribute to the pass-rush, or cover short routes during zone defense. Likely to be a major leader on defense.

OLB#41 – Danley Vicious - Age: 21; H: 6’2”; W: 253lbs – Tackler – UO Vienna/St. Theodore - Grimmeburg, Piikslund - Recruited out of UOVST, Danley distinguished himself in college as someone more than worthy of his awesome last name. Danley is most-suited for attacking, moving forward to stop the run or contribute to the pass-rush, rather than working in coverage.

OLB#37 – Shawn Holmstrom - Age: 23; H: 6'2"; W: 251lbs - Balanced - UO Leif's Harbor - Shraedurpurt, Tyrrswatch - Holmstrom is another young linebacker who will be able to provide a stable, reliable presence in the event that the starters need to rotate in and out. He's still developing some, but shows plenty of signs that he's on his way to being as good as there is anywhere.

OLB#47 – Derrik Marks - Age: 22; H: 6'2"; W: 248lbs - Blitzer - US Dunnmaar - Rone, Stalhamark - Maarks is a strong blitzing linebacker, who is more than capable of adding a blistering quality to the pass-rush. His abilities are still developing, and he's mostly going to be a package and rotating player, rather than a starter, for now.

Inside Linebackers:

ILB#45 – Steven Lindburgh - Age: 21; H: 6'3"; W: 251lbs - Balanced - UO Innsbruck - Andersburg, Stalhamark - Lindburgh is another new player straight out of college. Like Vicious, he's very talented, but still a little lacking in experience. That said, he's ready to be a big play-maker for this team in the middle, and is capable of carrying out all the functions of his position. He's also quite a smart guy himself, meaning he could be poised to take over the job of the defense's general.

ILB#43 – Miles Ryan – Age: 31; H: 6’0”; W: 254lbs – Balanced – University of Copenhagen – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Ryan is the defense’s field-general; big, strong, fast, and incredibly intelligent, Ryan is probably the most dangerous player in a strong linebacking corps. Defensive Captain.

ILB#48 – Leopyld Udunsunn - Age: 28; H: 6’1”; W: 250lbs – Balanced – Kristinburg Technical School - Kristinburg, Tyrrswatch - Udunsunn is still developing, but he shows signs that his gridiron intelligence isn't far off from Ryan's, even now in his relative inexperience. Udunsunn is solid in all the physical categories (he can stop the run, blitz, and cover), but it's that intelligence that is probably his greatest asset.

ILB#46 – Izaak Hand – Age: 24; H: 6'1"; W: 248lbs – Coverage – UN Northwatch – Northwatch, Northwatch – Hand is, first and foremost, a field-general style linebacker. His main strength is in covering the middle, but he's still quite capable of carrying out other inside linebackers' responsibilities, including pass rushing and stopping the run.

Cornerbacks:

CB#1 – Isabelle Marquette - Age: 24; H: 5’6”; W: 140lbs – Balanced – US Rone - Inneville, Fililund - Belle found herself placed on the practice squad last year, only to get her chance after injuries began taking a toll on the secondary. Marquette turned in a few standout performances along with a number of solid ones to get herself a rotating spot with the other corners. Belle has roughly the same turnover-forcing potential that Andrik does, which means that throwing in her direction is pretty dangerous for opposing quarterbacks.

CB#23 – Andrik Ierunmungur – Age: 31; H: 6’3”; W: 215lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Daalfuurge, Stalhamark – Ierunmungur is probably the most experienced play-making corner available to the team; he’s very fast, and has a knack for placing himself between the ball and the intended receiver. He also returns kicks and sometimes punts.

CB#13 – Julius Harkness – Age: 25; H: 5’10”; W: 199lbs – Balanced – University of Copenhagen – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Harkness is a first-year cornerback with the team who arrived late to camp, and so missed the whole ordeal and gets to start as a result. Harkness is a corner with a strong skill-set and is a strong tackler. While he probably won't force as many turnovers as Belle, he'll probably get a few here and there, and will shut down number-two receivers without too much problem.

CB#17 – John Tanner – Age: 22; H: 6'1"; W: 201lbs – Balanced – UO Vienna/St. Theodore – Leif's Harbor, Ostrea – Tanner is a solid all-around corner who should rotate in and out without slowing down the defense, and should be able to make a play here and there of his own.

CB#26 – Vitomir Danacek – Age: 28; H: 6’2”; W: 221lbs – Balanced – USk Udunsfurd – Thurrsfeld, Skraelingia – Danacek is another solid corner who puts in good work in the secondary, even if he’s fairly unremarkable.

CB#23 – Erica Shoenburg – Age: 21; H: 5'7"; W: 141lbs – Speed – UN Kohlenburg – Filia, Fililund – Shoenburg is a mostly speed-geared corner. She's not as physical, but is great at placing herself between the ball and the receiver. She's not too consistant about coming down with it, but she does a great job of making sure the receiver doesn't get it, either. Serves as a kick and punt returner.

Safeties:

FS#49 – Markus Josephus – Age: 30; H: 6’2”; W: 222lbs – Balanced – US Thomasburg – St. Theodore, Ostrea – Josephus is a play-making free safety who can play like a strong-safety when necessary. It is this versatility that makes the Allamunnic secondary dangerous; both safeties are multitalented and can hurt offenses in coverage and on the attack. Allowing Josephus to work with Mourner is murder for most offenses.

FS#22 – Leif Coelmunn – Age: 24; H: 6’0”; W: 231lbs – Coverage – Skarrsboro University – Rumanika, Skraelingia – Coelmunn is a solid all-around safety who is at his best when playing a responsibility. He can shut down receivers or sections of the field competently, leaving his defensive backfield partner, Mourner, the freedom to make the really big plays.

FS#25 – Erik Dahlhorst – Age: 21; H: 6'1"; W: 210lbs – Balanced – Thomasburg State University – Copenhagen, Tyrrswatch – Dahlhorst will probably get as many reps as Coelmunn; it's apparent that he has even more talent than the man in front of him, and just needs a chance to develop it some.

SS#10 – Elias Mourner – Age: 36; H: 6’2”; W: 228lbs – Balanced – Shraedurpurt University – Westpass, Stalhamark – It is entirely arguable that Mourner is one of the most under-rated safeties in international gridiron. This is largely because he doesn't get the opportunity to make many plays because he's on a team with a bunch of other playmakers. Mourner excels at coverage, but work on the blitz has improved his contributions in that area, and he makes for a solid last-ditch tackler against a loose running-back.

SS#21 – Jarrett Jackson – Age: 21; H: 6’1”; W: 211lbs – Balanced – Bowler University – Tripoli, Southport – Jackson is another young safety who will likely develop into a major force for the team in a few years, when Mourner is eventually forced to retire. Until then, he will be a very capable backup.

SS#12 - Liam Swonder – Age: 23; H: 6'0"; W: 205lbs – Balanced – University of Thomasburg – Mobilston, Piikslund – Swonder is Mourner's new understudy for this World Bowl; he may grow into the role and amount to something as the years go on, but for now...he's a backup, and that much is obvious.

Special Teams:

K#3 – Phillipa Demirici – Age: 39; H: 5’9”; W: 154lbs – Place-Kicker – University of Vienna – Vienna, Ostrea – Demirici is about as much of a veteran as is possible; she played on the original Allamunnic World Bowl team (all the way back in World Bowl 7), and has been consistant enough to have remained with the team the entire way. She's getting a little long in the tooth, though, so her time on the team may be coming to an end, soon. Special Teams Captain.

P#4 – Wayne Scott – Age: 21; H: 6'0"; W: 200lbs – Punter – Leif's Harbor College – Vimesburg, Piikslund – Wayne is an extremely competent punter, skilled at getting the "Crazy Corner" (as it's known among Allamunnic punters) and averaging 48 yards-per-punt in college.

P#2 – Scott Ayres – Age: 31; H: 5’11”; W: 188lbs – Punter – Filia College – Inneville, Fililund – Ayres is a reserve punter and kicker, who can fill in for Demirici or Scott if either of them should be injured.

LS#19 – Graham Long – Age: 27; H: 5’11”; W: 234lbs – Longsnapping – Greensford College – Naakstbaen, Ostlund – Long is a good, consistant long-snapper. Not much else to say.

LS#51 – Stephen Snaps – Age: 23; H: 6'1"; W: 203lbs – Long-Snapper – Leif's Harbor College – Dreichium, Dreichium – He's a long-snapper. There's not a whole lot to tell; he's consistant and accurate. What more is there?

Excerpt from Autumn Thunder: My Days on the Gridiron by Daniel Rickenbacher.

I heard about the formation of "No MAS" after I arrived at training camp. Honestly, I thought it was sort of funny. I mean, I remember when we used to dread playing against Qazox. As I watched the receivers practice running their routes, it occurred to me that one of those receivers was credited with turning the rivalry around more than any other player, seven years ago.

Seven years felt a bit like a lifetime. Those were the days when I still strapped on the pads and took the field against our rivals, rather than seeing to it that the defensive line did it's job. Before coaching.

God, I miss it. But everything comes to an end.

I snorted. Sort of like Qazox's dominance. Willy Theodore's overtime touchdown pass seven years ago had changed a rivalry and had, the more I thought about it, had been the turning point where a respectable, middle-of-the-pack team began its rise to become one of the world's better-known programs.

One that had underachieved, we all knew. We'd come tantalizingly close to the finals twice, and both times we'd fallen short. Last year we hadn't even come close, and had been shut-out by a team that was worse than us in name only. We'd been battered and shut-down.

It's hard to have an underdog attitude when you're ranked in the top ten in the world. It's hard to have an underdog attitude when other teams dread playing you.

But when you've had your team gutted and you're coming off an embarassing loss, even a well-regarded team has something to prove.

So I didn't let the players know about No MAS. Not yet, at least. I didn't need them knowing that there were still teams that were still unwilling to play us because of the outcomes of our games with them. They didn't need to know we were still feared.

This was a fresh start. We were underdogs again.

The sun rises in the East illuminating the Proving Grounds the stadium used for the Knights of Tal'rotha. Gonlig Gurak the fabled Dwarven chimney pipe smoking tobbacco enthusiast sits back in his recliner on the Mezzanine floors opening the most recent newspaper. He see two pages inside that Cassadaigua has won the World Bowl Hosting rights for the next tournament. Drums banter in the back reaches of his mind. Football plays echo to the beating of the drums. Honor, Virtue, and Strength ...hoorah! hoorah!

Our story begins in the Halls of Val' teire the Suralean Seat of the small Empire of Weyr Sular just below the Yggridis Jungle on the Baneshra Plains. This coastal city is inhabited by numerous peoples from around the massive continent of Shalek Ji Kahr varying from the blue colored natives of the Yggridis, the Klamaks, to the scaly inhabitants of the volcanic wastes of the Koresh Void, the Korizards. There is the Proving Grounds in the Port District which is a large open coliseum towering over the city that can be seen from miles away and its shouts heard over the open clean air for leagues.

Image

In the Proving grounds many traditional competitions take place to honor the Suralean seat such as The Bloodlettius featuring gladiators coming to claim nobility or prize money, the Spoccer in which a small spiked ball is kicked around the courtfield into goals that dhained prisoners of the time hoping to survive past a sudden death, and then there is the newest tradition, the favorited addition, The Fotbalisha. Fotbolisha has risen up in the lands of the Weyr gaining popularity with each generation till today when the Sularean Seat has finally established a national team to compete against the masses of the Worlds far and between. This Team is named Knights of Talroth'A.

Knights of Talroth'A (Weyr Sular)

Head Coach: Gonlig Gurak

GG, is a dwarf from Disland. Born in, a small outpost of Disa, GG has grown from a wee littel' child to become one of the greatest coach in all the lands. He was the MVP of the 26th national tournament in which he was rewarded for taking off the heads of numerous competitors.

Team owner: The Sularean Seat

Style modifier: -5

Offensive style: Make the air escape from the ball and discarding it. Then magically appear with it in the scoring position.

Defensive style: Take their damn heads off! As in using superior strength to perform moves worthy of a true battle field.

ImageOFFENSE
QB: Vindictus Maximillion
VM is a human citizen of Talroth'A. He grew up in the Dustburg, the most cutthroat area filled with sailors and pirate brawls every few seconds.

RB: Gak Jo
GJ is a Korizard from the volcanic wastes. There his quick feet allowed him to run fast enough to escape the blighted lands by running over the Magmaic Riverbed.

WR:Hestaim Kolo
HK is a six armed Kevlon from the floating city of Gnok. It is no wonder why he is the teams prized receiver.

WR:Armantin
Armantin is a nigh uncontrollable rage filled dire armadillo controlled by the power of Manek stones found only in the deep Sulan Desert. It is questionable why he is a WR some would say he is more of blocker or rather a flattener of defenders.

WR: Porky
A big sharp dire porcupine. He can definitely catch the ball fairly easy.

TE: Faed Riseth
An elf from Daenaryn. Daenaryn is known for being very stealthy so stealthy that we had such a hard time confirming whether or not he was actually a part of the team.

C:Stoleman
Stoleman is a Golem built by the dwarves originally as a weapon of war.

RT:Pikel
Also a golem. Pikel is not a golem of war he is a golem built for information. He could talk to his match in the other teams lineup to death with sheer boredom. Try to not listen to his one person discussion on who makes the best Pie because he has never ever tasted any.

LT: Mout
Another Golem. Mout is a golem of construction. If given long enough he will fashoin himself into another wall or place random surprising traps on the field.

RG:Loki
Loki is a ghost bound to the Knights of Talroth'A. He is probably the worst guard on record. at least he could scare the defensive lines performing weird illusions.

LG:Qwiggly Svefar
A gnome. Second worst guard on record but he is found to be very chaotic towards defensive players by appearing randomly all over the field. His best talent is disguising himself as the ball to deceive players.

ImageDEFENSE
DE: Hannibal Glek

Renowned cannibal responsible for the mysterious disappearances of some of the brave travelers on the road to Talroth' A. He is curently serving his sentence as the team's DE. "...anyways...I wonder why I haven't received my package of specially designed fan gear as of yet? Oh, wait..."

DT: Tyrese Jhons

A man there is little known about other than he is from Sular, the desert people of the blood moon.

DT: Hakulo Selmayc

"What in god's creation is this a six ton mutant? Well he looks...human...ish."

DE: Dji Dju

An orc from the Halkon Plains. Apparently the only thing he and his brothers from the same clan understand is that they get to beat up on humans as they please.

CB: Mak Druugal

Clan brother of Dji. During the game is the only time you will ever see him without an axe.

SS: Jik Jak

Rather skinny for an orc. Almost looks like he is from some other planet with his big black eyes on his really large head. Heck I'm not even sure if this fellow is an orc.

LB: Drew Melonch

The exiled Bann of Port Yul. He was banned from his perch as bann because he was found to be experimenting with summoning the undead. Some claim its unfair to have him on the team because you can start a down with the regulation amount of player and end up with double that by the end of the down.

LB: James Haslimach

A thief from the outskirts of Talroth' A. Was apprehended stealing the princess' undergarments.

DT: Hanz Strudel

Previously the best baker in the land until he was imprisoned for poisoning a noble. He says he is innocent. However, this baker has a mean streak in em that will turn you into flattened dough.

DT: Frank Morrison

Son of a rich banker in Talroth' A. He has a spot on the team because his father is the Most Honorable Supporter of the team. "Thanks...if it wasn't for you I wouldn't have a job."

NG: Stinger

"Whose idea was it to put all these rabid animals on the team...?" This hornet tends to scare the opponent centers out of thier minds including the quarterback. However, Stinger recieves the most offsides penalties because his stinger tends to make it across the line too early. Refs beware: The Knights of Talroth' A are not held liable for his actions.

ImageSPECIAL
K: Bigfoot Jones

A troll with his left foot weighing two times the size of the rest of his 3' 5" tall body.

PK: Jackie Jump

Another animal!? Seriously, guys! A sentient Kangaroo known for slumming the local bars and pubs.

PR: Wist Weet

A wisp spirit with the ability to teleport itself and the ball to another dimension and back.

KR: Briak Spead

Fastest man in Weyr Sular on record.

To Cassadaigua do the Knights March On!

by Beaslix Hoppings your fast reporting blazing bunny

Cassadaigua will host the WBXVI! Yes, Cassadaigua received a unanimous vote in the host-decision election. The group draw shall happen soon and we shall know what and who the Knights shall be playing against. In an interview with Coach Gonlig Gurak, I asked him what he expects this year's playing field to be like and he had this to say. "We will march right on up there and make a name for ourselves. This year we will be using an even more brutal defensive style than the last time we played in the World Bowl. Hey, just ask any team that played us in the past how long thier injury list was! HAHA! Nah. But in all seriousness we aren't going to go easy on anyone this year. Last year was an experience let me tellya. This year will be good for us. We have an extremely veteran team. It's amazing how no one died in the proving grounds in the time between seasons. If it weren't for that ole emperor that barred them from competing in the Gladiatorial Open, I would have had to find me a new team. They are itching with energy that they didn't get to use."

A recent NO MAS meeting (as recorded by an undercover QBI agrnt):

Durburto Roban: The Replacements have themselves a new coach. And it's that damned cheap-shot artist Daniel Rickenbacher. Hitting players below the belt, eye-gouging in piles, taking out the knees of players during returns.. need I go on?

NO MAS crowd: NO MAS! NO MAS!

Roban: Supposedly most of the real coaching staff's sick with something; likely either Sarzonian Gonorrhea or Babbage Scabies would be my guess. But it just proves that we shouldn't play that team, they have communicable diseases running rampant in their country! Didn't we not too long ago just emerge from a virulent disease, Scourge? No one has ever come up with where the disease came from. But didn't the outbreak start just after our first ever trip to Allamunic States? Weren't some of the first people to sucumb to the plague on the gridiron team? Not that I'm blaming the Allamunic States for causing Scourge; but the timing of it is suspcious, is it not? I say let the diseased Fanboyists stay home and never plague our nation again!

Crowd: NO MAS! NO MAS!

Roban: As you know the group draw for the upcoming World Bowl is next weekend. Tickets are availible to sit at the Kiman Arena in Graverville, and we got them at a discount. Only 10Zaq ($5.00) each or 20Zaq ($10.00) for 3. Please see Harvin Magler at the Arena box office and show your NO MAS! membership card to receive the discount. The next meeting will take place next Thursday at Graverville State University's Golan Hall. Until then, we say:

Roban and crowd: NO MAS! NO MAS! NO MAS!

Agent Tanya Fitzgerald turned off the most recent recording provided to her by her partner. NO MAS!, by most appearances was a very loud and boisterous fan club of the Sharks; or, as she and her partner suspected; NO MAS! was either a secret anti-Allamunnic States terrorist organization or a drug-running operation. As far as either of them could determine, Roban was 100% clean. But somehow within the last 4 months, his little club rapidly expanded from about 10-15 members, mostly local-known holligans to the present 2500 members. Based on the stated club fees, 250zaq ($125) entry fee and a 10zaq($5)/a month club fee; and taking into account the expenditures for the rallies, Roban should be just barely breaking even or at least barely into the red on this venture. But to have over 14 million Zaq ($7 million) in the NO MAS! account had raised red-flags at the QBI. Someone was either being a very creative accountant, or there was something else going on here.

"So you're saying we've got us a QB controversy?" Rickenbacher asked, sighing. Zimmermann, the backs coach-cum-offensive coordinator nodded, looking annoyed.

"I don't feel comfortable putting Daalhulm out there. He's still not a hundred percent after what happened last year. His physical therapy's going well, but he just doesn't have the same power in his throws anymore. He might get it back, but it won't be for a while."

Rickenbacher cocked an eyebrow. He'd been focused mostly on working with the defense. "What about the kid?"

Zimmermann looked like he was trying not to laugh to make light of the stress. "Leif? He's got zero experience at this level! He's not any more talented than Daalhulm, either."

The reluctant head coach sighed. "If you recall, Maarkus had zero experience when he first got put in."

"And he had someone to rotate with," Zimmermann countered.

Daniel shrugged. "So will he." He paused for a moment, in thought. "What about the running back situation, Willy?"

"What do you mean?" he asked, eyeing the coach irritably. It was clear none of the impromptu coaching staff was handling this with much ease. Sure, they were all perfectly up to the job, but it still was not going to be a fun transition for them. "We've got three halfbacks."

"Okay."

Zimmermann shrugged. "Unlike previous years, these guys all pretty much play the same way. They're balanced guys. Fredriksun has the most experience of the three, but they all seem sturdy, and, well..."

"Well?"

"There's some tape I need you to see. The youngest of 'em, Wyndhorst is his name, reminds me of nobody as much as...well, I may be going to far with this comparison, but..."

"Out with it, Willy."

"The only difference between Haanryk that I saw was that this kid wears number twenty-seven, and Haanryk wore number thirty-four."

A grin that would have looked sinister on anyone else formed on Rickenbacher's face. "That a fact? From what I saw reveiwing the scrimmage tapes, I liked what I saw from the kid wearing twenty-four."

"Myers? He's pretty good, too. His running style is a little different from Wyndhorst, but he's got as much power, and they've both got some incredible speed and acceleration. Myers doesn't accelerate as fast, so he works better to the outside, where he can get a little more room to get going. I like our chances with the running game. Better than with the passing game, for sure."

Rickenbacher cocked an eyebrow. "Same as it ever was, huh?"

Zimmermann laughed. "I was about to say -- what else is new here?" He paused, thinking, then added "How's the defense?"

There was a slight groan. "I love Archie, I really do, he's a great guy to have at your back and on your line, but he is about to drive me over the edge?"

"How so?"

"Starting out of the two point stance is a bad habit."

"He's always done it with good results."

"It's not him doing it that's really the problem. The problem is that now Walkerton thinks he can do it. It works if you're someone like Archie, who needs to be able to get up tackles' faces, or Honorius, who can put pedal to the metal and explode out of that stance. Walkerton can't, and he's getting his ass kicked because his chest is always too damn high."

"What about the rest of it?"

"The system wasn't my idea."

"So?"

"I think, personally, we won't get enough pass rush out of the 3-4, but call me old-fashioned. I've always been more comfortable in the 4-3. I played out of it for close to thirty years. But Jethro, being a former linebacker, likes the 3-4. We've always played out of multiple fronts, and as far as I know, we'll still work in 4-3 sometimes, though. The linebackers seem to be coming along well, and the secondary is, in my humble opinion, probably the best unit we've ever had in that part of the field."

"Anything for this afternoon?"

"Not really, that I know of specifically. I'd like to see those two running backs practice for a little bit, though."

"Sure thing."

Excerpt from Game Announcing for Exhibition Game of Allamunnic National Team versus Koenigshalloe Kings, 11/5/2010
Krist Bloem and John Shanks commentating

First Quarter
Bloem: The Kings win the toss and elect to kick.
Shanks: So what do you think we're going to see from this national team? The roster's gone through some big changes this year.
Bloem: Well I think--wait, here's the kickoff...Sherman fields it at the one, and he's off.
Shanks: Picking up a few blocks, he's making his way down-field...oh, that's a nice juke there...
Bloem: And he's brought down by #23 Weller for the Kings at the Regulars' twenty-three yard line.
Shanks: Here's the Regulars' offense taking the field.
Bloem: So I think we can expect to see them running the ball mostly.
Shanks: I dunno. They're rushing attack just hasn't been the same since Stahlburg left...and here's the snap to Daalhulm. Hands it off to number twenty-four, Ryan Myers. This kid's just a college student, gotta think the Regs are robbing the cradle for this year's group of running backs...
Bloem: Wow, he's brought down by #47 David Sharpe for the Kings at the Regulars' thirty-one yard line. That's a first-down gain of eight yards. Nice blocking by the Regs' offensive line.
Shanks: Yeah, they've looked very good for a group of guys who had never played together up till a few weeks ago. Very well-put-together group, very in-sync with each other. Here's the snap to Daalhulm...hands it off to Myers, and he's headed off-tackle.
Bloem: He's got his block off to the right...he's got some good acceleration...and he's up into the linebackers. Sharpe's got a hand on him, but that doesn't hold...
Shanks: Myers is into the secondary! They've wrapped him up...brought down by free-safety #11 Greg Snyder and strong-safety #21 Fredrik Hulms at the Regulars' forty-yard line. Gain of nine.
Bloem: They're off to a great start on this drive with two long runs.
Shanks: Snaps to Daalhulm, he hands it off again to Myers.
Bloem: Can't say I blame him. He's ripped off two good one--
Shanks: Breaks a tackle, good blocking there by fullback John Kaiser...and he's off! One man to beat...and Hulms brings him down with a diving tackle, down at the Kings' thirty-two yard line, gain of twenty-eight yards.
Bloem: They're putting together a nice drive; that's forty-five yards on three carries for Myers. Snaps to Daalhulm. Hands it off...gain of three for Myers, to the twenty-nine yard line.
Shanks: If three yards is the least they can hold him too, the Kings are gonna have these guys running all over them for the whole game.
Bloem: Snap, hand-off. Myers up the middle, brought down at the twenty-five, gain of four.
Shanks: This is their first third-down of the game. I'm willing to bet they're gonna run here...
Bloem: Ya think? I mean, they haven't had a gain go for less than three yards so far, and they only need one to convert.
Shanks: Yeah, they're lining up in Wildcat, it looks like. Myers back in 'gun. Snap to him, and he sprints up the middle.
Bloem: Churning mess up in the middle there.
Shanks: He's survived a hit or two, still upright...but he's not getting much. He's brought down, gain of two to the Kings' twenty-three.
Bloem: That's not as impressive as some of the other runs.
Shanks: Is it? They got the first-down, and he did it easily on a run with the Kings in goal-line formation. This offensive line's a good one. About ten years younger than the usual one on average, too.
Bloem: Daalhulm back under center. Gives it to Myers. Looks like a trap-run.
Shanks: Yup, and it goes for a big gain, brought down by Sharpe at the sixteen, gain of seven yards. And they've burned almost four minutes off the clock on seven plays.
Bloem: Is there any real reason for them to hurry? They're in control right now. Speaking of, another hand-off to Myers...takes it off-tackle, picks up a block, brought down by #41 Sam McGavvock at the twelve-yard line. Gain of four.
Shanks: Quick to the line, they get the snap up, and Daalhulm tosses it out to the left to Myers. He takes it up the hash, a few good blocks from Willy Theodore and Garrett Kelley leave the lane open, and he scampers up the hash. And he's in! Touchdown, Regulars!
Bloem: That was a well-done drive. The Kings just couldn't stop Myers, so they just kept feeding him the ball. He had nine carries on that drive, and rushed for seventy-seven yards.
Shanks: Demirici's PAT is good. Seven-nothing, Regulars, with 8:58 left in the first quarter.
Bloem: We'll be right back after this commercial break.

Bloem: And we're back! Demirici's all tee'd up to kick this off for the Regulars.
Shanks: In case you missed it, the Regs opened up the game with a six-minute-long drive for a touchdown, where halfback Ryan Myers rushed nine times for seventy-seven yards before running in a twelve-yard touchdown.
Bloem: And the kick is up, and #83 Jake Ridley catches it in the endzone. He starts running, and breaks one tackle...picks up a block, gets another...and breaks up-field...brought down by Julius Harkness at the Kings' forty-six yard line.
Shanks: The Kings' offense takes the field. Victor Dunbar under-center. Snap, and #1 Kurt Gaarutt gets the carry. Picks up a block going up the middle...and stopped at the Kings' forty-nine yard line by Steven Lindburgh, gain of three.
Bloem: The linebacking corps is another rejuvenated part of the Regulars, and they're sort of lacking in experience. The defensive line isn't looking as good as it used to, though...
Shanks: The Kings' offense is pretty high-powered once it gets going. Let's see how they fare.
Bloem: Hand-off to Gaarutt again...he's not finding anything up the middle, bouncing it out...and he's stopped behind the line by Danley Vicious! Loss of one yard! That leaves the Kings at third down and eight to go. Dunbar drops back...he's sticking in the pocket, making his reads...and he tosses it short to tight-end Will Connors. Caught at the fifty, and he turns up-field. Sheds a tackle, and dives to the first-down marker at the Regulars' forty-four yardline. Gain of eight.
Shanks: Dunbar has grown a lot since he arrived here. He had great poise, and even with Archie Wagner closing in on him, he stayed composed and made the right decision. Now snap's up. Dunbar's dropping back on first-down...and it's a draw. He hands off to Gaarutt, and he rushes up the wide-open middle. Brought down at the Regulars' thirty-nine yard line, gain of five. Another snap...
Bloem: They're doing a good job mixing it up here. Dunbar drops back, quick hit to wide receiver Felix Roberts on a slant. Goes down at the thirty-two yard line, gain of seven yards, first down.
Shanks: They get back to the line quickly, snap is up, Dunbar screens it out to Gaarutt, who picks up a few blocks...and he makes it down the field to the ten-yard line, gain of twenty-two yards on that screen.
Bloem: Well-played, there. Again, the Kings' balanced offense is letting them keep the Regulars' defense guessing. Here's another snap...Dunbar lobs it over the middle to Connors. Touchdown, Kings!
Shanks: And with the PAT, that ties it up, 7-7 with three minutes to go in the first quarter. We'll be right back after these messages.

Second Quarter

Shanks: After being forced to punt on their last possession, the Regulars need to get going again on this drive, especially since they're now down 10-7. They're taking the field at their own twenty after a touchback.
Bloem: Daalhulm takes the snap. He didn't complete a single pass last driv--and that one's complete, twelve yards to Garrett Kelley. That's his first completion on four attempts today. He's hurrying them to the line. Another snap, this time in shotgun. He makes the read...and he hands it off to Myers on the draw. Myers bolts up the middle, tackled at the fifty, that's an eighteen yard rush.
Shanks: And with that, he goes over a hundred yards on the day on his twelfth carry. It looks like he's going out to get some rest. No point really wearing him out during an exhibition game. Replacing him is #27 Danyl Wyndhorst.
Bloem: Snap is back to Daalhulm. He makes his read...and he finds Willy Theodore, who's brought down as he catches it at the Koenigshalloe 20-yard line. They're going with the hurry-up.
Shanks: That's the first time we've seen them in the preseason use the hurry-up offense. They're up to the line, and Daalhulm takes the snap, and throws a quick-hit to Hael Fokkenmaar, into the endzone to put the Regulars up. After the PAT, they will be up, 14-10.
Bloem: Demirici hits the PAT easily. Regs lead by four with five minutes to go in the second quarter. We'll be right back.

Third Quarter
Bloem: The Kings get the ball on the twenty after a touchback. Dunbar drops back...and the pass is complete down to the thirty-six, to Connors. They hurry back to the line, get the snap up, and Dunbar tosses it wide out to halfback Andre Wilson. Wilson rolls around the outside, cuts and starts running upfield. He takes a hit from Danny Chessen, and goes down hard at the forty-yard line. Gain of four, but he's slow to get up. He runs off the field, with Gaarutt running on-field to take his place.
Shanks: That was quite a hit. Chessen's known as one of the team's best linebackers, though, so it's not really a surprise. Hopefully, Wilson will be okay and he's just a little dazed.
Bloem: Another pass, this time Dunbar hits Grant Wayne in stride, brought down by Belle Marquette at the nine-yard line.
Shanks: Wow, that's a fifty-one yard completion. Dunbar's having a great day so far. They're set up to run in a short-downage situation.
Bloem: Ball is handed off to Gaarutt, who takes it up the middle. Drilled by Jorgeson, and the ball squirts out. Lindburgh dives on it at the Kings' six yard line! Regulars take over on their own six-yard line. Wyndhorst comes in with Daalhulm. Daalhulm hands it off to Wyndhorst. He goes up the middle, punches through the defensive line. Two guys get their hands on him, but he gets by, makes a cut, escapes from two linebackers coming after him, shakes off a third's tackle attempt, and is into the secondary! One corner tries to wrap him up, gets shaken off, and the strong safety gets shaken off, too. Only the free safety's left, waiting for him at the Kings' ten-yard line. Breaks down, tries to tackle him, and is flattened! Wyndhorst makes into the endzone!
Shanks: That was quite a run! Ninety-four yards for a touchdown on his first run from scrimmage with this team!
Bloem: What's even more impressive is how he did it: he broke eight tackles to do it!
Shanks: Demirici makes the PAT. That makes it 21-16, Regulars back in the lead.

Bloem: The kickoff is fielded by Gaarutt at the five-yard line, he works upfield, he's got a block...he's clear of one, he's got another block...and he's gone! He looks like he's about to go all the way! He's at the thirty! The twenty! The ten! He's in the endzone! Touchdown, Kings!
Shanks: Foster's PAT is good! Kings are back in the lead, 23-21. We'll be right back after these messages.

Fourth Quarter
Bloem: Hello! For those of you just joining us, it's been a close one between the national team's Regulars and the Koenigshalloe Kings, who lead at the moment, 26-21, with fifty-three seconds to go in the game. The Regulars are about to take the field once again.
Shanks: For a team that's only been together for a few weeks, they've played very well. They should be proud of having held this close against the defending national champions.
Bloem: They're rushing attack, especially, has been impressive, and they've scored two big touchdowns on the ground, especially there last touchdown, which came on a huge run.
Shanks: They've actually managed to have two hundred-yard rushers in one game, which is nothing to shake a stick at. Daalhulm also appears to have been pulled, probably to give back-up Leif Erikson some reps under-center in an actual game situation. Speaking of, they appear to be all set at to start at their own twenty.
Bloem: He hands it off to Fredriksun, who takes it three yards up the middle to the twenty-three yard line. Aaaand he hands it off again...wait, he still has it! Rolling out to the right, he's watching downfield...and Erikson shows that he's got a cannon for an arm, launching the ball while he's on the run downfield sixty-two yards to Izaak Rolle, down at the fifteen yard-line!
Shanks: It looks like he's burning the clock, down to ten seconds left, takes the snap, and he drops back, and shoots it into the middle, and Rolle comes down with it! Touchdown, Regulars!
Bloem: And Demirici's PAT is good! 28-26 with two seconds to go! The last play is coming up right now as the Regulars tee up. Demirici kicks it deep, and Gaarutt fields it. He runs upfield, and HE FUMBLES IT after a hit from Lindburgh, who's had a huge game today! Theodore dives on it, and the Regulars recover, and time expires for a preseason win against the defending national champions!

The Khord Are Marching!

* A video of Dwarves marching through a city tunnell plays on the TV…

“The stone halls echo as the Khord march forth, the grotto shakes under heavy foot
To War! To War! The cries ring out. To War! To War! We are marching.
The Caverns rumble, tunnels awash with the boom boom boom of ancient drum.
To War! To War! The battlecry echoes. To War! To War! Clanggedin’s Blessing to all

The mountain trembles as the Khord march forth, the valley is filled with dread, Hurrah!
To War! To War! Our hearts cry out. To War! To War! We are going.
The river lurches from it banks at the quake of our power. Pebbles bounce as if alive
To War! To War! The Khord are marching. To War! To War! In glory we sing.

The stag and squirrel, shrew and swine run forth to give warning of might and splendor
To War! To War! Our souls cry out. To War! To War! We are coming.
Our enemies tremble, their souls grown cold. Our might too much to fathom.
To War! To War! The battle calls. To War! To War! Hurrah! Hurrah!”

To say the scene in Stonengarten today as the local Dwarven squad made their first national appearance decked out in the blue and yellow of the DSE’s official Sea Dragon Uniforms was a bit of a spectacle would be a huge understatement by anyone’s standards.

The 48 players and staff were joined by more than two hundred thousand rabid grid ball fans chanting the most ancient of all War Chants. Even here it the studio it it was powerful enough to send chills down my spine and awaken hordes of Goosebumps that I have yet to get rid of.

One thing is for certain, this version of the Sea Dragon grid ball team is going to be tough one for any one to beat.
