My apologies for going AWOL the last bit of the tournament. I got married and took a break from NS. Hope everyone's well,congrats to Sherpa, condolences to Hap for coming so close, and thanks to Newmanistan for putting on another great edition of the WBC! I'm looking forward to WBC 50 for sure.

Hello baseball fans, it is time to head to the polls! As Banija is busy with the Olympics, I have been asked as the next President to take control of the Council and the Hall of Fame voting for the post WBC-49 period. So let's do it!

Item 1: The Council
This was the Council prior to WBC 49:

Failing to Provide a Roster & RP in WBC 48 and 49, and removed from the council: Abanhfleft

Not Providing a Roster & RP in WBC 49, and will be removed if they do the same in WBC 50: Drawkland, Liventia, West Phoenicia, Xanneria

The following new/returning nations posted a roster and RP in 48 & 49, and will be voted upon at this time: Daskel, Northwest Kalactin, Sarzonia, South Newlandia, and TJUN-ia.

The following new/returning nations posted a roster and RP in 49, and will be eilgible to be voted upon after 50 if they do the same: Delaclava, Falisiand, Jeckland, Kohnhead, Ranoria, Royal Kingdom of Quebec, Se Vende Skooma, The Jovannic, Tikariot, Torisakia, and Zwangzug

Therefore, Council Members on EACH OF Daskel, Northwest Kalactin, Sarzonia, South Newlandia, and TJUN-ia; please vote FOR, AGAINST, or ABSTAIN on the matter of inducting them to the council!

Item 2: The Hall of Fame
The Sherpa Empire is eligible for Hall of Fame induction.

Council members, please vote FOR, AGAINST, or ABSTAIN on whether or not you feel the nation should be inducted.

Votes for BOTH items, should be sent to my puppet, Cheergirls, by 8pm EDT on Monday, August 24th. Thank you!

And now for the highly awaited results of the Council voting!
I apologize for the delay, I had the 26th stuck on my head as the last day of it, not the 24th. In which case I'd only be one day late instead of three.

Anyway, on the matter of Council voting:
Daskel- 0 for, 3 against, 4 abstain.
Northwest Kalactin- 5 for, 1 against, 1 abstain.
Sarzonia- 5 for, 1 against, 1 abstain.
South Newlandia- 7 for, 0 against, 0 abstain.
TJUN-ia- 7 for, 0 against, 0 abstain.

The council now consists of the following:

On the matter of The Sherpa Empire being inducted into the hall of fame:
2 for, 2 against, 3 abstain.

Therefore, The Sherpa Empire is not inducted in at this time.

Oops, took awhile, but here's the updated Post-WBC 49 ranks!

Notably, there are now 3 teams in the Top 20 which have only participated in the last two cycles. Good job, y'all! Also, Cassadaigua is still #1.

That is all. We should be good to go once the prez wants to open signups.

Hey look, new WBC master nation account!

Now, with the real MLB season having ended today, some may be wondering when we will start up our upcoming golden edition. The plan is to let the International Baseball Slam run its course, as well as trying to get the WBC lined up so it comes right after the World Bowl. Signups being opened are not too far off, but not quite yet.

How would everyone feel about bringing back a WBC Player Hall of Fame to complement our nations HoF? This was previously a thing, where nations were assigned a number of slots to fill depending on past participation/performance. Now that we have HoF points for each nation, we could also just assign slots for meeting certain thresholds of HoF points, and users could then pick their own representatives to go to the HoF.

(This was discussed briefly on the Discord and I thought it was a good idea, so I figured I'd put it here so it'd get more visibility).

We might want to set the bar to get in a little higher than it was in the old days, so it doesn't get cluttered if the WBC continues thriving for years to come.

There has been a lot of chatter in the league office this morning that something might appear later today.
However, these same people are a bit of hungover from that wild World Cup 86 semifinal (then watching that other wild semifinal), so we might not see this until later in the day.
