Waiting to see the World Cup Qualifying schedule. Baptism of Fire ends on the 11th.
I know its tempting to begin signups now, but conflicting head on with WC80 qualifying will be bad for overall roleplay.

In the meantime, the ENBL could use some international players!

Personally, I would give WBC a higher priority than WC80 if they overlap, but it is hard to RP more than one tournament at a time and I agree with minimizing overlap between major events.

My hockey RPs stank because I was trying to do WCOH and NSSCRA at the same time.

I'm not even in the World Cup, but it is the "holy grail" of this forum. I gave up on it. Trying to qualify for that darn thing is brutal. ;)
We do have several RPers here who are well ranked in the World Cup, so I'm sure that's where their priority lies. I have decided I'm gonna "jump" the World Bowl though, that's usually gone just ahead of the WBC but with it being the NFL off-season, and the start of baseball season, it makes sense. I would imagine a signup thread somewhere in the middle of April. If we conflict with the World Bowl, so be it.

My priority in terms of roleplay (which I haven't done any of recently) would be the World Cup, you are correct in that assertion. So ideally them not clashing would be great!

However, the priority is timing w/ the baseball season.

I agree that World Cup qualifying should have priority. As much as I love baseball, my RP time would be there and not here if there was a conflict.

Given that there is supposed to be less downtime than usual between the upcoming World Cup and the next one (due to this summer's FIFA World Cup and the importance of taking advantage of what's likely to be heightened interest), I think its important to get the next WBC started around the time when the World Cup ends.

Which should be mid-end of summer, yea? By that point the race for the baseball playoffs should just be heating up, peaking some interest. I agree.

Signups for World Baseball Classic 43 are officially open. I was an early bird this time!

Also please note that World Baseball Classic 43 is officially the last cycle of my term as President.

Starting on, and not before, May 1st, I will begin to take nominations for my successor as President. I will be ineligible as one can not serve consecutive terms. Between now and May 1st, I would like to request that anyone who is NOT interested receiving nominations to declare that now in the discussion thread. Only members of the World Baseball Classic Council are eligible to be nominated.

Only Council members can nominate, but nothing wrong with expressing your preference.
That said, I am not taking nominations now, I just want to know who isn't interested that would otherwise be eligible right now!

I doubt anyone would be interested in nominating me as president, but just in case there is someone out there, I can't take the nomination as well. RL has to take precedence for me right now and I doubt I can really carry out the duties of a president. Just putting it out there.
