Nothing is really surprising, except for a park with a very low pitching modifier, the runs scored by the winning team in four of the five games were: 8, 8, 11, and 12. I also don't think it is good for a well ranked team to have a negative style modifier using this scorinator.

I forget. Is qualifying for the quarterfinals earn a HOF spot, or winning in the QF?

I already have my choice, which I'll RP.

Winning the QF. You need to get at least 4th place for any HOF points.

Yesterday it was 18, and today its 32. I cannot win...

Unless I rank coast through the entire tournament and knock out a team which at least deserves a shot at the title (sorry Newmanistan  ). I wasn't planning on RPing at all this tournament (this will probably be my last WBC - I'd like to focus on other things) but I'll try to get at least one or two more up detailing the reaction to Arnold's murder and Buchholz's revenge.

Over the past two days, Jeff Fitzhugh has been offered a combined total of $2,893,600,000 from 15 teams from seven nations. Thank you to all of the participants for your support. Fitzhugh will make his decision in the next day or two, so be ready! :)

I was referring to individual players, not countries as a whole. IIRC, me as a nation is eligible to be voted in after this one.

No probs. I figured I'd get outbid, but that you might like having some additional material to work with for RP purposes. Offering more would have been at odds with how I envision my nation.

Fitzhugh has officially accepted a contract offer! See my latest RP for the results! Thank you to all who participated. There were a lot of great RP proposals, and that made it a tough decision, but I went with the contract that made the most sense IC for the player and OOC to the user that put the most effort into RPing the contract requests. Congratulations!

Dang, that's stone cold.

Also the OOC reason why I didn't do any counteroffers was because the offers were already incredibly high to a somewhat unrealistic degree, and I thought it would get out of hand if all the nations started bidding each other upwards of $45 million per year, since the top paid player IRL "only" makes $33 million.

I'm sure that's going to change a year from now when quite a few star players hit the free agent market. Rumor has it that teams "low-balled" the free agents this offseason because they're saving money for next year (but I wouldn't call 5 years, $125 million for an aging slugger with comparables whose batting stats fell off a cliff in what would be the equivalent of year 2 of that deal a "low-ball" offer).
