Congrats to one of the largest incoming Council classes in history! And with the majority of them being well-known, returning faces, I'm looking forward to a particularly active council for the next couple WBCs (and hopefully beyond).

At twenty-two members, I'm not sure, but I would guess that this is the largest the council has ever been. When I posted the new council, I was like, "Geez, so many names!" XD

Yes, I think this is just about the largest it's been. I do recall councils which were in the mid to high teens, but breaking 20 may be a first.

That honestly makes me happy to hear. Considering baseball is my most active sport here on NS, it's good to see it still kicking and at the level (or at least close to the level) of it's glory days.
I don't know how long I'll be back, but I just thought I'd stop in and say hi, at least.

The WBC presidential nomination period is over. The results are as follows:

Six nominations for Newmanistan
Two nominations for Maklohi Vai
One nomination for Drawkland
One nomination for Union of Socialist Alpine Republics
One nomination for Frenline Delpha
One nomination for Nova Anglicana

Newmanistan and Maklohi Vai will appear on the ballot for who shall be the next president of the World Baseball Classic. The official vote telegram will be sent out when I can. Newmanistan and Maklohi Vai will not be allowed to vote in this election, considering that they are the ones on the ballot.

This might be a little premature, but I'd like to thank Schiltzberg for serving this past term as President. Giving up the chance to win a title for WBC38-40 wasn't easy ;), but he definitely contributed a lot in his position.

The results are in! Here is the outcome of this cycle's presidential election:

10 vote for Newmanistan
2 vote for Maklohi Vai
0 vote for abstain
0 vote for reopen presidential nominations

And with that, I hand over the reigns of the World Baseball Classic to Newmanistan, your new WBC president. Thank you to all who voted, and good luck to the new president on the upcoming term. As a reminder, the president's first responsibility will be to choose a vice president.

As far as signups for World Baseball Classic 41 are concerned, I am thinking that we enjoy the next 4-6 weeks off. (or RP'ing other sports competitions). They could be opened in the last week of August, or on September 1st. This would get us playing in October, and playoff time. I'm keeping an eye on the World Bowl Discussion thread too. Looks like they might want to start around (drumroll, please...) the beginning of the NFL season. With a better feel for when that begins, I'll try to situate this to run friendly with that, and not overlap. Seems like this timeframe would also not conflict with World Cup 79.

Sounds good to me. World Bowl overlap isn't ideal, but also isn't the end of the world.

As I'm going to be taking a break from NS for an indefinite period of time once World Bowl signups are over, I'm going to ask that somebody else take over the WBC ranks starting with the post-WBC 41 ranks. The ranking formula is listed in the Constitution.

Just to clarify, "games played by the team playing the most games" does not include play-in games or Round of 24 games or any other playoff round where some teams have a bye to a later round. Those games are not counted in the rankings either as wins or as games played.
Why I left NS Sports
World Cup 85 Champions
1st: DBC 28, X Winter Olympics, Independents Cup 4, CoH 66, WBC 46, World Bowl XXXVIII, World Cup 85
2nd: World Cup 68, DBC 27, U15WC 8, UWCFA Gold Cup I, BoI 15, 2nd Imperial Chap Olympiad, NSCF 11
Host: World Cups 68 & 81, CoH 58, Games of XIII Olympiad, X Winter Olympics, World Bowls XXII, XXXI & XXXVIII, WBCs 42 & 46, RUWC 25
Current Senior Consul: Nova Hellstrom-Hancock (Golden Age)
Current Junior Consul: Samuel Izmailov (Nat-Gre)
Demonym: Republican
Trigram: FFR
Official Nation Name: Federation of Free Republics

First of all, congratulations on yet another great WBC!

Well, crap, boy did I screw this last classic up. I had a whole slew of IRL issues come up. I had a last-minute vacation come up in June-July and I forgot to inform everybody about that. I also see I didn't make the council. :( I guess I had that coming, and I don't fault you for your decision. I would like to apologize to the entire community for my extended absence. I'll notify y'all in advance next time. I'm looking forward to the 41st edition!

Peace.
