Hey all, just me WC dropping in to see how everyone is doing. In the short time I have on here I managed to take a look at the recently completed classic. I have to say congrats to NMS and my commiserations to Sicoutimont. I wasn't able to read any of your rp's, but I'm absolutely certain they were of the highest of quality. (That's what people seem to be saying on the discussion thread!) And well done Cass on hosting another well-run classic!

But now I must go, for my time is short. Though, I have the good news that I may be back on NS as early as the week after the 4th of July. (I certainly hope). So after some extended absences from being actively involved in the WBC I hope I shall be back! It will be fun attempting to regain my title from you NMS. ;)

Greetings, all. I was not interested in NS sports until very recently, and I'd like to get involved.

Baseball is my nation's favorite sport, ICly, and win or lose I'd like to have a go at the World Baseball Classic.

I am a total newb at NS sports, but I am willing to learn and take constructive criticism.

Awesome, but unfortunately, the next WBC won't be for another while. But I would encourage you to look around NS Sports and find a sign-up thread for something. There always seems to be something going on around here.

First off, welcome to NS Sports! Where friendly competitions sometimes turn into international crises, or even wars! 8)

As Vaugania said, the next WBC won't be for a little while as the most recent version just finished a week or two ago. However, there are still plenty of other tournaments that will be starting up soon enough, namely the Summer Olympics. Aside from the Olympics, there are a few mid-sized tournaments currently in the signups phase, so a search of the first 2-3 pages of the forum should give you a few additional options. If you don't want to do the mid-sized tournaments, hang around for another month or so and the major ones (World Cup, WBC, World Bowl) will probably begin cycling back around to opening signups.

Everyone always seems to forget--I think we've completely bypassed it some cycles. Perhaps we should just move to the system the World Bowl has, where any nation who posts a roster in two straight gets in? Saves a lot of hassle for something that doesn't have that much consequence.

There'd have to be significant amending to the Constitution, but based on the fact that we either forget about this vote, or remember it well after the conclusion of the last Classic; it shows that the World Bowl system is more effective.

Alright, vacation over. Time for business duties as President. We have some new members for the council to vote on. If any nation feels they should also be voted on and are not listed please feel free to speak up. First things first, though: Civil Citizenry has been removed from the council due to inactivity stated in the Constitution. Therefore, the current Council stands at:

  • Darmen
  • Equestrian States/Backyard Sports
  • Estope
  • Free South Califas
  • Karditan
  • Ko-oren
  • Lycrabon
  • Maklohi Vai
  • Michael VII
  • Milchama
  • New Montréal States
  • Qazox
  • Sakurakoku
  • Saugeais/Branta Island
  • Sicoutimont
  • Taeshan
  • Thrilledge
  • West Guiana
  • Western Cuba
  • Yesopalitha/Falconfar
  • Zwangzug

And those nations that are eligible and are looking to join are as follows:

  1. Saintland
  2. Super-Llamaland
  3. Serbian Empire
  4. Aardenland
  5. Kinzar
  6. Vaugania
  7. Sova Empire
  8. Allinlia/Strawbe
  9. Cassadaigua (host within the last three WBCs)

Current WBC Council members:
For each of the above nations, vote on if you feel they should be admitted to the Council, by casting either a YES, NO, or ABSTAIN for each eligible member. Send this vote to my puppet, Branta Island. Voting will end at 10pm Central US Time, August 3rd, at which time those voted in will be announced, followed by the opening of signups for the next World Baseball Classic.

There is a WikiStates article that has results through WBC 25. NSwiki's article only goes up to WBC 19.

There's also this thread which, while less specific than the wiki articles, is a convenient all-in-one reference for the forum.

And the results are in!

Saintland: YES 9, NO 0, ABSTAIN 0
Super-Llamaland: YES 3, NO 5, ABSTAIN 1
Serbian Empire: YES 2, NO 5, ABSTAIN 2
Aardenland: YES 3, NO 6, ABSTAIN 0
Kinzar: YES 2, NO 5, ABSTAIN 2
Vaugania: YES 5, NO 3, ABSTAIN 1
Sova Empire: YES 4, NO 3, ABSTAIN 2
Allinlia/Strawbe: YES 8, NO 0, ABSTAIN 1
Cassadaigua: YES 9, NO 0, ABSTAIN 0

So with that I'd like to welcome Saintland, Vaugania, Sova Empire, Allinlia and its puppet Strawbee into the World Baseball Council, and to welcome back Cassadaigua back into the Council after a cycle out.

That is because you hold more promise than myself as an RPer where my only championship on NS Sports was from consistent RPing of a mediocre quality. Without luck, I tend to make it out of group play, but never too much further as I will run into a better RPer somewhere in the journey.

Congrats to all those appointed to the WBC Council. Fun piece of trivia for y'all: the last 2 teams to be unanimously elected to the council (NMS and I) reached the finals the next tournament. So, Cassadaigua/Saintland WBC27? :p

What about you and I? Hey, we've met both times in the last 2 tournaments, why don't we make our next one for all the marbles?

I'd like that, it would certainly be a good matchup. Get a baseball rivalry going in addition to the soccer/football one.

Everyone always seems to forget--I think we've completely bypassed it some cycles. Perhaps we should just move to the system the World Bowl has, where any nation who posts a roster in two straight gets in? Saves a lot of hassle for something that doesn't have that much consequence.

Opposed, sorry to say. I like the idea of it being like the MLB HoF.

But...I missed this vote, so, you know.
