World Baseball Classic Discussion Thread

Throws apple at Saintland. The discussion has been had before, though a while ago. I still have the opinion I had before, that its is more of a simulation of the Classic to do it like this. If we have a longer competition, with the 3-game series and bigger season, then it becomes a MLB season and not the classic. If someone wants to do that, then fine, but I think that's better for another tournament, and probably with club level teams.

It exists... and I cut it off just 150 minutes ago. I could use some more people in the BCCC though. But that's for next season

i agree with this, the BCCC seems to be getting forgotten and it's a fun thing for baseball nations to participate in (well i find it fun to obsess over my domestic leagues at least)

Just an idea I wanted to bring up randomly:

During the recent discussions over the multiple scorinations per matchday proposal over in the WCDT, I was thinking that the idea could be used in the WBC for 3-game series, much like RL baseball, in the group stage, with all 3 games of a particular series being scorinated at once (maybe the final series of the group stage could be spread out over 3 days?). If every 3-game series were scorinated in a single day (and teams played a home series and an away series), the WBC would not be any longer than it presently is, but the group stage would have 3 times as many games. Personally, I think it would be more interesting from an RPing perspective to RP a series report instead of a match report for a single game so I figured I'd throw it out there for discussion.

A couple of interesting notes:

I have qualified for 2 playoffs in any sport. I was eliminated in the Round of 16 by the eventual champion in the last IBC, and that might just happen again if Sicoutimont wins.

Also, the final is between 2 French-Canadian teams, right? That's should breed some awesome RP's.

2-1 is possibly my favorite baseball score. Some days, 1-0. Or 20-5. I like how at some point the team that's totally dominating forgot to change the pitcher or something. The Red Sox had some playoff scores like that for a few years in a row there, back in the late 90s/early 00s.
