My guess is yes, considering you're the only one who is 41st.

In reality, there are 8 other nations tied for 41st. My point was that there were people whining about being 15th when I was just happy to be 41st.

Once signups have concluded (and a host nation has been chosen by the WBC Committee), the host nation posts an "Everything thread", which has the schedule, guidelines, rankings, format, and everything else you'd need to know. You are recommended to write a roster at this time. At the scheduled time, the host will scorinate the matches, and post the scores. You then can post a roleplay, the host scorinates at the scheduled time, and the cycle repeats. Each host nation will do the format slightly different, so it's hard to say what exactly will happen.

Equestrian States did a marvelous job with the last WBC, which can be seen here: http://forum.nationstates.net/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=225946. I highly recommend you skim through it to get a feel for how things work.

Unfortunately, I am as well... I am not particularly pleased though as I hold a #3 ranking in Lacrosse right now so 41st isn't particularly impressive.

Glad to be top ten in something for once. Now to get into the top five...

Also, good to see a host bid up now. I can find solid IC and OOC reasons for supporting it. 8)

If anyone would really be so swayed towards Cassadaigua's bid merely for the fact that there are no ponies there, I would be willing to negotiate that your team (contingent on them making the playoffs) would play in a city with a higher percentage of human inhabitants.

I'll add that if anyone is so swayed by that: don't be.
I just put it there for the humor. (we do have ponies... they just don't talk!)

I love Cassadaigua's set up post for this WBC, and I especially love their choices in terms of playoff advancement, having the top 4 3rd place teams having a chance to advance is certain to create so many interesting storylines in all of the groups. (anyone who reads my RPS probably knows how fascinated I get with analyzing everyone's playoff chances!) more teams in playoff contention for longer will encourage more RPs.

We're off to an amazing start! Very excited :D

edit: had some questions but actually reading the host bid has answered most of them, I am dumb.

I only hope Cass isn't a subscriber of that "extra RP credit of the day" thing that I noticed some hosts have used for quite some time. The IBC host has been doing an admirable job so far imho but I've quickly not become a fan of those things now that I've experienced it for the first time and it's my only nit-pick in what has otherwise been a fun tourney. Guess it's just a personal taste thing.

Also is Cass using Karditan's idea of having the RP bonus carry into the playoffs?

I'll start with the second question first: yes it will carry into the playoffs.

For your first concern, it's going to be used how it was used in World Cup 64: to give some inspiration or ideas to work around. Use it or don't use it, it won't matter, it's just for fun. How I plan on using it will have specific relevance to the World Baseball Classic and not something that seems totally obscure. I'm not gonna give it away yet. You may even like it! ;)

thanks for answering my questions even though I just realized that you already did in your host bid which I probably should have read before posting >.>

I'll keep an open mind and an eye out for what the daily prompts entail, I've personally liked many of your decisions so far quite a bit so I'm optimistic :3

Quick question, as this is only the second WBC I'll be actively participating in. Is there protocol for how much the players on my rosters should age since the last WBC, or is that kind of up to me? I assume that it's just up to me, but I wanted to check.

It's up to you. You may age them as you want. I know I usually just add 1 year to their ages, but you could make them younger if you want. It would make for a nice RP line

I'm drooling over my first post as Strawbee. 3 teams that made the playoffs last IBC, 1 team that would have if it had this WBC's rules, 3 teams that have ponies on them +you and Strawbee are in the same division again.

so much intrigue!

I wanted to consolidate those in Group 1 already, but as three from one group can advance, nothing is lost yet. Three top 24 teams in there. Group 6 follows closely (3 top 25 teams). Group 5 is not much better (3 top 26 teams there).

Anyhow, I'm stuck in a group with the current best team. Splendid, sort of.
