Qaz, great 9/11 flag.

IBL stats by nation for the WBC will be up shortly...no worries. Look for the International Baseball League thread.

Just for clarity, are the home teams listed first or second in the group schedule?

Miscellanator's baseball sheet treats the second-listed team as home, conforming to the usual practice of that sport. I'll clarify that in the schedule post. Thanks for the catch.

I think to settle that, it should be up to the player. If home, it could be name vs. name (HOME), or name (HOME) vs. name. That way, it will ease confusion.

Look, if a nation has (HOME), it is for their own team only. It is just name vs. name, it is an away game.

Except who's home and who's away is critical to determining the score, because the home team always bats in the bottom of the inning and is the only one who can hit walk-offs. You can't have both teams claim to be the home team.

Doesn't matter, as the host has offically stated which team is which. All game are now listed as : Away team at Home team; and as such adjust your posts accordingly if needed.

Hey, does anyone have any idea when the next season will start? I'd be interested in joining, but as it seems as though there is a season underway, I'd like to know when I can join for the next go round

About every 3 months or so; Odds are the WBC 21 signups won't start until January 2012 at the earliest.

Regarding the tiebreakers in pool play, a quick question for clarification:

The bid thread states that the tiebreakers are head-to-head results, then average runs per game (then drawing of lots for seeding, or a playoff game to decide who actually goes to Sportgirls). Do the head-to-head results incorporate run differential from those games?

I ask because the tiebreakers will be fundamentally different dependent upon whether or not run differential is used, should Saugeais defeat Mantwenic in MD10 (which would leave both tied with me on 6-2 overall with each of us going 1-1 against each other). If the tiebreaker goes tied teams are 2-2 against each other, go straight to average runs per game, then Saugeais will be top, and I will be second unless Mantwenic score eight or more runs in losing, or seven to force a playoff. (I have scored 46 runs in my eight games, Mantwenic have 39 from their seven, Saugeais have 48 from seven.) However, if run differential in the head-to-head games between 6-2 teams is used, Mantwenic go out, and I would be top unless Saugeais won by at least ten runs.

It's the result, ignoring the score, in the H2H comparison. Therefore, your first scenario is correct:

If Mantwenic defeat Saugeais, Mantwenic and TKP are through.
If Saugeais defeat Mantwenic, Saugeais are through, and TKP are through unless Mantwenic score seven or more runs. (Seven force a playoff, eight or more send Mantwenic through.)

So whatever happens, you want to see a pitchers' duel. :)

Well I'm actually pretty pleased I lost to Hippostania. Don't have to face TBI now. Get a much weaker team at #11 seed. Well in rankings wise.

I'm looking forward to playing you. To be honest, I expect to lose, and almost hope to because it's going to make ever decreasing amounts of RP sense if I do keep faring ridiculously well - I'm a nation of nine point something million with no prior NS Sports experience...

Yay not RPing and reaching the playoffs. :p

haha. I would RP, but I currently have close to zero time with 4 AP courses I am juggling, not to mention extra-curricular stuff I do (like play piano for my church, volunteer, tennis, etc.). Maybe, just maybe, if I have time I can get some RPs in before the playoffs start. :D

I'm a bit confused. The games for the qualifying stage was in each participating country, but now are playoffs games played in Sportsgirls or still in each participating countries?

They are still being played in the participating countries. Your next game, against Zwangzug, will be in Miley World.
