2020 Presidential Elections

The only Presidential elections that matter this year.

Like promised above, It is time to send nominations for the next President. Per Constitution rules, the current President (Free Republics) is not eligible to be re-elected. Term limits.

This post contains the Council members that are eligible to both nominate, be nominated, and vote in this election. You can nominate as member Council members as you wish, including self-nominations.

Nations that get at least two nominations will go on the official ballot. Any Council members can pre-emptively decline their nominations, either by posting here in the Discussion thread or by PM to my puppet(listed below).

Send your nomination(s) to my puppet, Busoga Islands, by 11:59 PM EDT on Sunday, July 5th. If there are any questions at all, or anything is unclear about how this works, ask in this thread or PM me. I'll be telegramming this to members of the Council.

Drawkland, Nova Anglicana, and Re-Open nominations are all tied with 0 votes, and all eliminated.

Cassadaigua has a simple majority on the first ballot(4 out of 7 votes cast), ergo, Cassadaigua is elected President of the World Baseball Council for WBC 50-52. As promised, she will take the reigns at the Conclusion of WBC 49(since my and FFR's terms technically go through the end of WBC 49).

Just a heads up if people need RP material, but a lot of Llamanean NT players will be looking to go abroad to foreign leagues (due to being unable to leave the country for the past ten years). I'll probably accept more offers now compared to the last time I did this type of RP, as long as there's some IC justification for going to that specific nation, so feel free to TG/DM/RP with offers!

Want to note that as I begin setting up the pots for this evening's group draw (which I will edit in to the second post of the everything thread when ready), I noticed an error in the ranks, which was the following:

Terre Septentrionale, as a successor to Alpine Union, did not get the 0.31 points earned from Alpine Union into his current total. This would move him up from to #19 on the spreadsheet to actually being #16. This does not affect the pots, because he only passes nations that have not signed up for WBC 49. However please note that this has been spotted for WBC 49, and Terre Septentrionale will be noted as the #16 ranked team and have these additional 0.31 points when scorinating.

Actually disregard all of that, I just remembered that Terre Septentrionale is not ICly a successor nation.

LOL. I was tired with the Alpine Union and made up a new nation but I didn't find a way to have IC continuity despite keeping the same players name so I never requested the Alpine Union's ranking points for my new nation.

In my World Cup 85 RP permissions, I clearly stated to DO NOT RP ABOUT THE CORONAVIRUS OR ANY OTHER FUCKING VIRUS. I forgot to add it in my WBC permissions but it goes for the WBC as well. Please do not RP about that shit when my team is visiting your country. I do not recognize any RP about it and I thought people were done with that. Thanks.

If this is about Sherpa's latest RP, then I think they would've stayed within those permissions anyways - they didn't actually RP anything other than one of their players talking about a virus, which doesn't relate to your country.

(I think it's fair to not want to deal with viruses in your RP though, and while I'm here, I'd strongly prefer if my team were unaffected by any pandemics as well).

It's incredibly bad form to attempt to dictate how someone roleplays their own country and the characters that make it up if it doesn't affect you.

If Sherpa had talked about your players getting infected, you would have every right to react or ignore the action. But there's an old principle that goes something like, "your right to swing your arms ends at someone else's nose."

If you don't want to RP a pandemic because of the real one, no one is forcing you. If you don't like it that other players ARE roleplaying a pandemic or various pandemics, just keep it scrolling.

Just read the RP, this is a complete non issue. Nothing regarding anyone's players, just mentioning a virus. There's a line with permissions between not wanting something absurd, unrealistic or unsavory to happen in games or to your players and not wanting the other person's players to be conversing about certain topics.

Besides that, there's nothing to 'acknowledge' about the virus that was mentioned. And your permissions for the world cup or whatever it was certainly don't apply here unless otherwise stated.

It seems to me that you're mixing up the possibility of IC implications for your nation and the OOC act itself of RPing. At worst, ICly the Sherpans have subjected your players to perhaps overhearing a conversation about a virus, but that's an extreme level to police the conversation and actions of another player's characters when there is no IC effect for you. I understand that this maybe comes from a place of wanting to come to NS without having to see material related to viruses or illness - if that is the case, I would recommend simply ignoring the posts and moving on. But this is a platform of expression for many, and not every topic will be to your liking - and Sherpa is not doing anything wrong or disrespectful in their writing.

Please, this is not helping. You don't have to be a tournament participant to post in this discussion, but getting involved just to post on the verge of flaming does no good.

I didn't see anywhere in the RP where Sherpa said that Nordique players had been infected with the disease, and while I can't speak for Sherpa, I didn't read anything in the RP that suggested anything other than "the virus has been contained." TS, I don't see anything where your guys were involved with the pandemic.

I've put in my permissions section of my roster to not involve me with any pandemic-related RPing. If a player had written anything related to a pandemic in a RP following - or preceding - a game where they were facing me, I'd look through it a bit closer to make sure I wasn't involved or my players - or any Hapiloppians - were going to be RP'd as coming down with an illness of some sort. If the post was like Sherpa's, I'd just ignore it and move on because it didn't involve me. I understand where you're coming from - you don't want to be involved with pandemic-related roleplaying, but I don't see anywhere where Sherpa involved you in a pandemic. It looks like Sherpalander characters were discussing something that happened in their country.
