Congratulations to Nova Anglicana and thanks to Drawkland for hosting! What a resolution, these semis and the final were something else. I hope to do a bit (or rather, a lot) better next time, but well deserved to all that had a long run.

My first preference would be to do some sort of youth tournament, like I had done with the Keisler Cup, but I put out some feelers since returning and the interest did not seem to be there. What I would like is to have some sort of secondary tournament to where I could develop players for the main roster, or at least give secondary players a bigger opportunity at the international level. Therefore, I would participate in the IBS in whatever capacity it was brought back.

I believe about a year and a half ago me and another user tried to start an LLWS that got some interest so a user like you or someone else would probably be able to get it off the ground.

That's part of what I was thinking for the IBS; to reduce pressure and make it more fun, we could limit the number of national team players who appeared in the last WBC. Or just go nuts with it. Send a major league team, send a minor league team, send your minor league All-Star team, send your best U18 or U21 team, hold an open tryout. The IBS had a different ranking system than the WBC, so that's an IC explanation for why some teams weren't nearly as good in the IBS as the WBC; it's different players.

I just want people to participate and have fun!

Thanks for everyone in the tournament for making my first NS sporting experience a great one. Thanks especially to Drawkland, and congratiulations to Nova Anglicana, for making this an exciting tournament to participate in. As for a second NS baseball tournament, i would love to participate, whatever the plan would be.

Good plan, keeps it from being restrictive and lets people do with their roster as they wish. I'll be there!

I like the idea of the IBS running as a second tier tournament which gives us flexibility to do anything with our rosters.

Also, some WBC closure on our end RP'd in the NSSCRA thread if interested.

Cass, I agree. 30 Classics is a drought that needs to be remedied. Our next epic final: Cassadaigua (30 Classic championship drought) against Drawkland (7x7 WBC 49 having special meaning for them), a lot of history between the two clubs, but the Fillies break Drawkian hearts to win in seven games.

It wouldn't be the first time a Drawkian NT had broken past the first round for the first time in their history and gone on to the championship ;)

Though the Drawkians actually won that championship ....

I thought it was cool that you were still RPing even after you got eliminated. It's nice to see when someone is into it like that.

I might do a women's team for IBS, since SIBA (the Sherpa Empire's domestic league) is mostly segregated by sex and hasn't had women on the main national team. I can't promise how much I'll actually have the time and motivation to RP, though. My job is "essential infrastructure," social distancing in the warehouse is a nuisance, some people are out on quarantine, and work is starting to get busier as people have gotten wary of the crowds at grocery stores and increasingly do not want to go out even for basic shopping. As well as the home deliveries, we are also getting shipments of medical supplies. And I actually need to leave for work because they moved our start time from 5 to 3...

Congratulations to Nova Anglicana on joining the Champions Club and commiserations to Cass on losing in such heartbreaking fashion!

Thanks Drawkland for doing such a great job as host! I admit I had trouble finding my way through RPing an entire three-game set as opposed to single matches, but I enjoyed working on a few storylines. It was definitely fun to be back!

Incidentally, my intention for my pitching coach was for him to test negative for the SARS 2 virus. Thanks Sherpa for the RP angle, which I continued in a couple other competitions.

Final RP is up. Some of you may remember when my longtime columnist Allen Talos passed away in WBC 38. He wanted them to win it for him, they got 4th place that time. But they finally won one for him. And Orlando Murray gets to ride off into the sunset. Really closes the circle on some things.

The IBS plans sound good, I'd be able to put in some alternative RP to my regular national team, and give Yoshima its own team, maybe.

Somehow still 4th in the rankings! So far we've been doing good Classic, bad Classic for a while, so pencil us in for a final next time around. Don't know what the best storyline would be: either Banija or Newmanistan as our previous final opponents?

The following nation did not produce a roster and RP during WBC 47 and 48, and are removed from the Council: Lycrabon

The following nations did not produce a roster and RP during WBC 48 and will be removed from the Council if they do the same in WBC 49: Abanhfleft

The following new nations posted a roster and RP during both WBC 47 and 48, and are eligible for vote at this time: Bolgano, The Greater Nordics

The following new nations posted a roster and RP during WBC 48, and would be eligible for an induction vote after WBC 49 if they did the same: Daskel, Inner AginanaUsordia, Northwest Kalactin/Pripet Socialist Republic, Sarzonia, South Newlandia, TJUN-ia

There are two matters for WBC Council members to vote on:
VOTE 1: WBC Council: On the matter of the following joining the council, please vote For, Against, or Abstain for each of the following:

Bolgano
The Greater Nordics

VOTE 2: Hall of Fame Voting: The Hall of Fame Spreadsheet has been updated. There is 1 nation up for vote. Ethane had reached 10 points after WBC 44 but, due to an oversight, this was missed at the time and was also missed by me last time around until after the vote had already been conducted. Please vote: for, against, or abstain for each of the following.

Ethane

Per the Constitution, Ethane would have to abstain on their own Hall of Fame vote, were they still a Council member.

Send all votes together to my puppet, Acedonia, by 8 PM EDT on Monday May 11th.

Is this actually the case? Just at quick glance, this looks like the Post-47 sheet, with no information from WBC 48.

While there are 2 voters left that haven't voted and 12 hours to go until the deadline, all of the results are now known:

Council Membership

Bolgano - 3 for, 6 against, 4 abstain
The Greater Nordics - 7 for, 3 against, 3 abstain

Therefore, The Greater Nordics has been added to the WBC Council. The new membership of the Council stands as follows:

Abanhfleft
Banija
Cassadaigua
Drawkland
Free Republics
Hampton Island
Hapilopper
Ko-oren
Liventia
Newmanistan
Nova Anglicana
Terre Septentrionale (formerly Union of Socialist Alpine Republics, Alpine Union and Southern Democratic States)
The Greater Nordics
The Sherpa Empire
West Phoenicia
Xanneria

Hall of Fame Voting

Ethane - 8 for, 4 against, 1 abstain

Therefore, Ethane is now a member of the Hall of Fame.

Until further notice, the Vice President (Banija) will serve as the acting president of the WBC Council.

Good luck, Free Republics!

I was planning on making this constitutional change proposal when the vote was announced, and still desire too. That is, to increase the minimum criteria for a nation to enter the Hall of Fame to 15 points, instead of 10. I think there should be a stronger line between a nation being good and having had a good moment in the tournament (one championship gets them 60% of the way there), and being Hall of Fame worthy.

WBC 49 signups are up!

A couple of notes.

1. I made the dates for host bid and vote cutoff carefully after looking at the IBS schedule... Although they will essentially be back to back, there should extremly minimal, if any, overlap between matchdays for WBC 49 and IBS XI.

2. Due to my Olympic bid, it will be infinitely easier for myself if I hold the next Presidential elections now, before that gets going. Of course, FFR's term as President(and mine as Vice) will end at the end of WBC 49. Elections are typically held after.

I'll do the setup for Presidential elections later on today(or this weekend), but they will conclude alongside host voting for WBC 49. Whoever is elected will serve as President-Elect, and will officially become President at the conclusion of WBC 49, so whomever is elected can still get their full three cycle term in.
Former champion of quite a few things. Former President of even more things.
