Congrats Abanhfletf!

Questions for our more in-depth NS sports folks here. Do we have a off-season WLC posting thread? A place to post about retirements, upcoming rookies, season hype, coaching carousel, etc? Looking to create on some storylines and would love to tie in some other WLC participants into them for more in-depth rivalries.

Looking to dive way more into NS sports, with WLC being one of the main focuses.

I don't know if this would fall under the IDLO realm?
I agree it would be a good way to expand possible angles for RP in the WLC...

Also, important point I forgot about, and probably should keep to myself--
No AO team in the Final. :eyebrow: :o

Updated WLC Rankings

Forgot to do it until now, but here we go!

You'll see, of course, in the show your work tab, that even though Sylestone awarded 2 points per group stage win, I awarded three points per group stage win to stay consistent with previous WLCs.

Cutoff for the 7th edition of IDLO will be on March 15th, at 10:00 Pacific Standard Time.

Apologies about this being a bit far away from the most recent cutoff, although this should give folks time to RP.

I seem to have developed a pattern of starting the signups for the World Lacrosse Championships on the 13th of the month every three months.

That would put us on track to open signups for WLC 37 on 13th March. Obviously, if the consensus is that we're going too fast, I can push that back to late-March, early April.

More to the point, however: My term as President is scheduled to end with the conclusion of the WLC 37 cycle. I do not intend to run for re-election since I have already served two terms. Besides the fact that our new Constitution term-limits me to two consecutive terms, I prefer keeping to a two-term limit as a precedent.

If you are interested in running for President or for Vice President, please post your interest here.

If Baker Park chooses to run for President, I can handle the nomination process and collect votes as a neutral party since I'm not running for re-election. However, if Baker Park does NOT choose to run for President, it's a task I would like to delegate to the Vice Presidency as standard practice.

Personally, I'd prefer to have a couple of extra weeks until signups begin, as I now have 77 things I'm in at the moment! But if the consensus is to get underway, of course, I'll abide by that.

I have not made a decision about if will seek the Presidency, I promise I will make my intent known prior to the beginning of the tournament. Of course I also encourage anyone who is interested to make their thoughts known.
I think we've built a good foundation under the leadership of Sarzonia for the WLC to continue building upon, so I believe whoever the next Pres/VP might be they'll have a smooth transition. We don't have a controlling nation to deal with, I've set up the Wiki page to keep track of the tourney results and I've got the constitution....posted...somewhere.

We used to have a controlling nation for lacrosse, World Lacrosse Championships. Cosumar I think used to control it back in the day but it's now CTE. Can't remember if Cos is back in NS or just in Discord but someone can ask them for the password, if they still remember it.

IDLO entries deadline has been extended to March 31st, because of a lack of entries currently.

WLC Presidential announcement:

The WLC 37 signup and host bid thread is now up!

As stated in the OP, this is my last WLC as President and I will NOT run for re-election.

Anyone who wishes to nominate a potential candidate for the Presidency and/or the Vice Presidency should do so in this thread.

Thank you.

((I swear I had coffee this morning. Really, I did!))

Just popping in to repeat that I will be refusing any nominations for president or vice president of the WLC.

Against my better judgement...

I will accept nomination(s) to succeed Sarzonia as WLC President. We have worked together seamlessly over the past cycles, and I think it's time that I step up to provide leadership of something in the NSS community, so that we are not always having to rely upon/hope for the "old timers" to carry the load.

In that case I will nominate Baker Park to be our next President

As of now, we have two prospective candidates for President.

Baker Park and Cassadaigua.

We have three more days until the call for election closes. If no other candidates are nominated and accept nomination, we will hold the election for President at that time with those two candidates. If other candidates are nominated and confirmed, we'll hold the election with the candidates who receive and accept nomination.

Presidential Announcement

The call for nominations is now CLOSED.

We have two candidates for President:

BAKER PARK and CASSADAIGUA.

Please TG your vote to me at Sarzonia no later than 8 p.m. UTC/4 p.m. EDT on THURSDAY. Your options are as follows:

Vote for Baker Park
Vote for Cassadaigua
Vote for neither and RE-OPEN nominations

As presiding officer of the election, I will only vote to break a tie. The President-elect will take over after the championship game of WLC 37 is scorinated.

Thank you, and best of luck to the nominees!

** NOTE: The Constitution specifies a three-day election period; but due to forum instability yesterday, I've decided to give everyone a little bit more time.

Due to the forum issues and in keeping with the decision by Valanora in the DiBradini Cup, we will push the election deadline back by 24 hours to Thursday at the time announced in the previous post.

It's a close race. Right now, the margin is one vote.

Please get any last minute votes to me at Sarzonia by 8 p.m. UTC (4 p.m. EDT).

The winning candidate will assume the Presidency at the conclusion of WLC 37.

ELECTION RESULTS

It is now time to announce the election results.

CASSADAIGUA: 3 votes
BAKER PARK: 2 votes

Congratulations to Cassadaigua on becoming the President-elect! Commiserations to Baker Park on finishing second. Pursuant to the WLC Constitution, Baker Park has the option to serve as Vice President should he choose to do so.

Cassadaigua's term will begin immediately after the WLC championship match is posted. Until then, I will remain in office.

Thank you!

Congrats to Cass and commiseriations to BP. I think the fact that it was such a close race certainly illustrates how qualified both of you are, and a huge shoutout to Sarz for serving as our President, you've done a great job.

Congratulations to Cassadaigua and commiserations to Baker Park, you too would make an excellent president. Thank you to Sarz for doing everything he's done in terms of the WLC. Looking forward to the next era of the WLC!
