Welcome to the Whirl Islands!

Known as a quiet and peaceful tropical paradise located to the west of Rushmore, the Whirl Islands are the best destination you could choose if you are looking for a vacation full of sun, water, soft sand and palm trees (specially if you are a tourist coming from one of our neighbouring, cold nations). If you come from a nation in which the only thing you can see is snow, then we have err...good? news for you: we are in the middle of our "summer" season, which means we will have sunny climate, scorching heat (average temperatures of 34°-35°) and some annoying humidity for the duration of the tournament, although it is advised to stay well hydrated, specially if your team must travel to places like Puerto Viejo and Narissa.

While tourists arriving here for the duration of the tournament will have the chance to enjoy and relax (and our hotel industry the chance to get even richer), regrettably we cannot say the same for the 36 teams who will be competing in this Copa Rushmori edition. The shiny Copa Rushmori trophy will be the prize for the team who manages to endure better the hostile weather and environment...we doubt the locals will be willing to support another team other than the hosts...

And now, we present the 11 (yes, with that lot of sign-ups we needed a lot of stadia) host stadia of this Copa Rushmori edition, and obviously two maps of Whirl Islands:

Updated map of the Whirl Islands (host cities in orange circles and yellow letters)
Map of Ayacucho, venue to 2 groups (D and I) and maybe some knockout round matches

Host Stadia:

Home of Navel FC, Navel Sharks (until the last Premier League season) and the Whirl Islands national football team, Portomar Field is located to the southwest of Navel Island, in the Portomar neighbourhood. Being the only stadium with synthetic turf in the whole nation, it will represent a challenge for most of the teams that will play there, unless you come from a snowy nation...since they are already used to play in pitches with those characteristics. Portomar Field will be home to all the matches played by the hosts during the group stage and other 2 Group A games.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Astograth vs. West Zirconia - Whirl Islands vs. Princess Béatrice Island
MD2: Astograth vs. Princess Béatrice Island - West Zirconia vs. Whirl Islands
MD3: Whirl Islands vs. Astograth

Docklands Stadium, located in Maracaibo, to the northeast of Navel Island, is home to Union FC and Sparta Navel (two Premier League underdogs) and will serve as host to only one match in the tournament. Being the last stadium chosen by WIFA for the tournament (let's be honest, at the last minute), it did not receive any significant renovations: WIFA only added temporary stands which increased the stadium's capacity from 4,800 to 10,000 people, so we apologize for any inconvenience that visitors may suffer.

Match to be played there: MD3: West Zirconia vs. Princess Béatrice Island (Group A)

Yellow Park is home to FC Atlantis, one of the strongest teams in the Premier League (although they have won nothing). In order to be ready to host the tournament, Yellow Park underwent some renovations which increased its capacity from 12,700 to 15,000 people and added new press, TV and radio booths and VIP boxes, which transformed this stadium into one of the most modern stadia in the Islands, although regrettably, some things like the athletics track will have to wait...
Yellow Park will welcome some of the hottest matches in this Copa Rushmori, as it will host five Group C games and a single Group F game.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Ansernia Islands vs. Logria - Pasarga vs. Kazzoria
MD2: Ansernia Islands vs. Kazzoria - Logria vs. Pasarga
MD3: Camwood vs. The Kiaser Colonies (Group F) - Pasarga vs. Ansernia Islands (Group C)

Hastings Park is located in the beautiful town of Terranova, located to the west of Atlantis Island, and serves as host for home matches of Racing Club de Terranova (former Copa de los Príncipes winners) and FC Terranova. Despite this stadium did not receive significant renovations, it was turned to an all-seater stadium, which reduced its capacity to 8,500. Due to this, some bleachers will be installed in order to increase its capacity once again. Hastings Park will host five Group F games and a single Group C game.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Polar Islandstates vs. Camwood - The Kytler Peninsulae vs. The Kiaser Colonies
MD2: Polar Islandstates vs. The Kiaser Colonies - Camwood vs. The Kytler Peninsulae
MD3: Logria vs. Kazzoria (Group C) - The Kytler Peninsulae vs. Polar Islandstates (Group F)

Lagoon Road, located in Lagoon Town just between the Modraine Sea and Victoria Lagoon, serves as home for the Lagoon Red Diamonds, another heavyweight in the Premier League, and will serve as home for Group B. Given that this stadium is small (and modern, too), we can assure there will be an excellent atmosphere for Copa Rushmori matches. No renovations were made to Lagoon Road though, given some stiff opposition from Lagoon Town's local government. Five Group B matches and a single Group E match will be played at this stadium.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Lonaga vs. Albundania - Civil Citizenry vs. Swartaz
MD2: Lonaga vs. Swartaz - Albundania vs. Civil Citizenry
MD3: Sarrbia vs. Bleak Rock (Group E) - Civil Citizenry vs. Lonaga (Group B)

Small, uncomfortable...but host to another powerhouse in the Premier League (Eastburg United), that's Municipal Stadium, located in the town of Eastburg. This town may have been blessed with beautiful white sand beaches, but its stadium is not that beautiful. WIFA tried to prepare it for the tournament, installing bleachers on the ends (increasing the stadium's capacity to 10,000 in the process), however, that was not enough to make it more comfortable. In this case, we also apologize for any eventual inconvenience. Municipal Stadium will host 5 Group E matches and 1 Group B match.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Ocel0t vs. Sarrbia - Saugeais vs. Bleak Rock
MD2: Ocel0t vs. Bleak Rock - Sarrbia vs. Saugeais
MD3: Albundania vs. Swartaz (Group B) - Saugeais vs. Ocel0t (Group E)

Estadio del Mar is located in Puerto Viejo, a small, quiet town located to the north of the archipelago. This stadium hosts Port-Vieux FC's and Náutico's home matches and will serve as the headquarters of Group G. Estadio del Mar was the stadium with the most radical renovations for the tournament: a new main stand, seats all over the stadium, new executive and VIP boxes, as well as new TV, press and radio booths and a brand new athletics track. The construction of the North and South ends had to be suspended due to a lack of funds though, but it is expected to resume when the tournament ends. Estadio del Mar will host 5 Group G games and 1 Group H game.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Palacios and Rodallega vs. Seleucius - Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk vs. The Hidden Paw
MD2: Palacios and Rodallega vs. The Hidden Paw - Seleucius vs. Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk
MD3: Carmadin vs. Khabarovsk Krai (Group H) - Abcdefghijklmnopqrstuk vs. Palacios and Rodallega (Group G)

York Stadium, home to Narissa Dolphins and nicknamed "The Colorful Eyesore" or "The
Multicolor Circus" (due to the lot of colors in the stadium's seats) by Narissa's rivals, will host Group H matches. York Stadium is another stadium without many renovation works (except for those horrid, colorful seats) for the tournament, although it will also feature some provisional bleachers on the ends in order to expand its capacity to 10,000. In addition to five Group H games, York Stadium will also host a single Group G match.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Nieuwe Sleeswijk vs. Carmadin - Southern Cynocephali vs. Khabarovsk Krai
MD2: Nieuwe Sleeswijk vs. Khabarovsk Krai - Carmadin vs. Southern Cynocephali
MD3: Seleucius vs. The Hidden Paw (Group G) - Southern Cynocephali vs. Nieuwe Sleeswijk (Group H)

South Park Stadium is located in Hoxvathor, the capital of Ayacucho, to the south of the Whirl Islands and will serve as host to the reigning champions' three matches in the group stage. This stadium is known for being one of the most modern and comfortable stadia in the nation, and with Ayacucho's climate being less harsh than the climate in the Islands, we expect fans to feel a bit more comfortable there than the ones going to Whirl Islands. In addition to Sargossa's matches in the group stage, South Park will host other 2 Group I matches and a single Group D match.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Carasatoga vs. Chenkorya - Sargossa vs. Mangolana
MD2: Carasatoga vs. Mangolana - Chenkorya vs. Sargossa
MD3: Queer Poco el Mono Ara vs. Mytannion (Group D) - Sargossa vs. Carasatoga (Group I)

Stade Moncton is located in Moncton, the second most important city in Ayacucho. This stadium is best known for being an athletics stadium, however, it also hosts matches for FC Moncton, the local football team. Stade Moncton did not need many remodeling works, but a temporary stand which increased the stadium's capacity from 13,500 to 15,000 was installed in the south end exclusively for the tournament. Moncton will serve as host to most of Group D games, plus a single Group I match. Due to Moncton's proximity to the border with Cotdelapoms, and Cotdelapoms' presence in Group D, many Cotdelapomais fans are expected to arrive to this city for the tournament.

Matches to be played there:
MD1: Erathore vs. Queer Poco el Mono Ara - Cotdelapoms vs. Mytannion
MD2: Erathore vs. Mytannion - Queer Poco el Mono Ara vs. Cotdelapoms
MD3: Chenkorya vs. Mangolana (Group I) - Cotdelapoms vs. Erathore (Group D)

The newest, biggest and most modern stadium in the whole nation. Built by Bright New World for Navel Sharks, the most successful and renowned team in the Islands, Sharks Waterfront Stadium will receive its Baptism of Fire with this competition, as this stadium has been chosen to host the final match of this Copa Rushmori edition as the first official match to be held in the new stadium.

National Soccer Team of The Kytler Peninsulae

1. Kris Joyce (GK, 32, FC Alaer)
Started all 30 league games and only conceded 21 goals - no team conceded fewer in the league - to lead Alaer to the title. A smart goalkeeper who won't make many blinding saves, but is very rarely caught out of position.
2. Daniel Ortega (RB, 20, Roulson Rovers)
A prodigious young talent, already selected for the all-Rushmori XI to play Atlantian Oceania, Ortega is a short and stocky defensive full-back who is deceptively fast and strong. Led Roulson to their first ever top-eight finish, conceding the joint-fewest goals of anyone in the process, and is now hotly tipped to move abroad.
3. Shaun Duggan (CB, 29, FC Alaer)
Another part of Alaer's title-winning side, Duggan is the stereotypical "big man at the back", and will pick up a few too many cards in the process of fighting aerial and ground battles with unprepared strikers. Will happily take a penalty too, the fool.
4. Thomas Kennard (CB, 31, Capitolians)
Not as physically powerful as Duggan, but good positional abilities have helped him maintain an excellent disciplinary record.
5. Tim Chappell (LB, 23, FC Alaer)
A defensive full-back, maybe not quite the talent that Ortega is, but cut from the same cloth, and he's only getting better.
6. Howard Crawley (LM, 29, Borlfield Town)
The local boy made good in an expensively assembled team that broke into the top four this season, his key strength is his stamina, developed in part from running up the steep hills in the area.
7. Armin Hassani (DM/CM, 21, AFC Edencliff)
"A young man doing an old man's job," so the lazy newspaper cliché goes when it comes to this defensive-minded central midfielder. Has the stamina to sweep up loose balls all day long, and the passing ability to ensure he doesn't give his opponents any similar generosity in return.
8. Sven Vandenbergh (RM/RW, 24, Bay City United)
The key flair player in the national side, Vandenbergh's tricks and flicks - plus his penchant for the odd long-range netbuster - helped Bay City United score 70 goals in a league where only one other team even managed 40.
9. Jan-Willem Snyder (CF, 25, Bay City United)
His connection with Vandenbergh made him the league's top scorer, with 21 - more than the entire team of relegated Cornham Town. He will move fluidly around the attacking third, and his shooting is unerringly precise. Creates chances for others, too, but won't win any aerial battles.
10. Cameron Upson (ST, 30, FC Alaer)
Top-scored for the champions with 16, including a league-high seven headers. The key aerial threat in the team.
11. Guy Stamp (CF, 21, Southill Rovers)
Young, creative, and fresh from leading the Under-21s to a debut knockout appearance in the Di Bradini Cup. Inconsistent, but on his day almost unplayable.
12. Caine Falamoe (GK, 19, Vengife Town)
A hero in the aboriginal capital of Vengife, and the only aboriginal in the squad. Recalls being excluded from school gymnastics clubs, but used his acrobatic prowess as a goalkeeper instead, and he is already known as the nation's best shot-stopper. Once his positional awareness improves, he will be the number 1 for many years.
13. Recasang Chezlot (CM, 25, Bay City United)
The most superstitious man on the team. He insists on wearing the number 13 "to uncurse the number", prays to Margaret before every game... oh, and picks out long passes better than anyone in the country, for good measure.
14. Shuke Cliriputed (RB/RM, 27, Bay City United)
While he plays right-back for his club, the presence of Ortega means his appearances for his country will almost certainly be in midfield. Unusually for a wide man, he's rarely seen dribbling - more usually, he'll win the ball and pass it straight to a team-mate before you can say his awkward Vephra name.
15. Alexis Aubin (CM, 29, FC Alaer)
A worker bee of a midfielder, similar to Hassani but more inclined to support the strikers. And not quite as energetic now he's almost 30, hence being on the bench.
16. Derek McIntyre (LF/CF/ST, 18, Aardswood United)
Nobody outside the top two clubs scored more than his twelve goals last season, and his attacking versatility makes him an obvious "supersub" for his country.
17. Alfie Nix (SW/CB, 21, Borlfield Town)
Much of Borlfield's success last season was attributed to the emergence of Nix mid-season. Usually playing as the last line of defence, he could also push forward and attack, and he even added three goals with his powerful left-footed shot, all from outside the box.
18. Dean Wickens (LB, 20, Bravin Rangers)
It was a season of struggle for the team from the garrison town of Bravin, but they found a young warrior in this left-back, who showed the fighting qualities and physical strength that the Rangers fans prize so much. He's a raw talent, but he's got all the tools to succeed.
19. Norbert Naugle (RM/AM, 21, Kartarak Wanderers)
Whether deployed down the middle or on the right, Naugle's array of passes and deft touches made him central to his team's attacking play. Tries too much at times, but an undoubted talent.
20. Torossud Sanani (CB/DM, 26, Cornham Town)
Not a lot he could do for a relegated side that had an aversion to scoring, but he impressed enough with his man-marking and tackling that he's in the national team squad. Probably won't play, though.
21. David Callow (CB, 21, Aardswood United)
Played in the Di Bradini Cup, without really standing out, but he's a mature central defender for his age.
22. Arthur Andresen (ST, 28, Capitolians)
An average striker at best, in the team because of a good run of recent form. Seen as overrated by most.
23. Josh Calveley (GK, 33, Borlfield Town)
The veteran goalkeeper was an important signing for Borlfield, and is in the team on club form, but he's not the future. He's there more to help the younger players feel at home.

Expected starting lineup (4-4-1-1): Joyce; Chappell, Duggan, Kennard, Ortega; Crawley, Hassani, Chezlot, Vandenbergh; Snyder; Upson.
Style modifier: -2
RP permissions: no godmodding, not too many injuries, and try and fit the player styles described in the roster. Anything else goes.

GK- #18 Jara
DF- #15 Xú
DF- #16 Ortozo
MF- #7 Enevoldsen
MF- #14 Ebondo
FW- #10 Palacious
FW- #11 Wölf

Roster: (Organized as a depth chart)
Starters are in bold

Goalkeepers:

#1 Gorduchev- Age 32- Draga Portamonense
The starting 'keeper since the national team's debut, he is a sturdy and reliable player, always playing well regardless of the rest of his team. Deserved vice captain.
#18 Jara- Age 28- Esporte Clube Porta
Starter for a top Ocel0ti club, Jara is on the bench simply because of Gorduchev's skill. Good handling and long passing, top-class sub.
#29 Gomiz- Age 28- Fiorentino Rigo
Also talented, Gomiz is still not quite up to his counterpart's skill. Starter for another top club nonetheless, he deserves better than a third-choice bench warmer.

Defenders:

#2 Marx-Bradley- Age 27- Draga Portamonense
Very experienced and level-headed, undoubted captain of defense. Good passing and marking, a big presence on the field.
#3 Luyindula- Age 26- Arro (Erathore)
The only member of the offence to play overseas, he has experience from it that no other of his colleagues have. He is more deep-lying, as he is not good going forward.
#5 Assou-Bassong- Age 27- Fiorentino Rigo
The lanky defender is till fighting to secure his place in the starting XI, but definitely deserves it with good marking and a beastly shot. Overpowers others with his size, but he still seems to be mastering his own body and gets booked more often than he should.
#15 Xú- Age 21- Draga Portamonense
#16 Ortozo- Age 20- Esporte Clube Porta
#17 Ortega- Age 26- Esporte Clube Albacera

Midfielders:

#4 Vrhovnek- Age 31- Charzzan (Erathore)
A true national team vet, Vrhovnek is team captain for a reason. Works his hardest in every game, and has great all-around skills. Age seems to be catching up with him, though, and he's not as fast as he used to be.
#20 Guarcouff- Age 24- Draga Portamonense
Seeming very experienced while he is still young, Guarcouff has amazing dribbling and passing skills, and is great at setting teammates up in front of goal. Probably considered the star of the national team, though his temper can sometimes get out of control, as he is still a cat.
#8 Cristian- Age 29- Esporte Clube Porta
Cristian is a slide-tackle expert, rarely getting booked while taking down even the most skilled forwards. He could be a defender as well, but his skills going forward as well make him a valuable part of the midfield.
#6 Yamamoto- Age 26- Draga Portamonense
A vital part of the national team, the speedy winger is excellent with crosses and shooting, and can be found anywhere on the field at any time. His small size can see him shut out by other players, but he makes up for that with an intelligent style of play.
#40 Touré- Age 24- Draga Portamonense
The skilled winger is still relatively inexperienced, but is great at crossing, passing, and shooting. He often makes his way into the middle of the field and ends up on the score sheet, but can also be caught out of position. He is very athletic, but does not have much defensive skills, focusing on all attack.
#7 Enevoldsen- Age 28- Fiorentino Rigo
#13 Silvo- Age 28- Fiorentno Rigo
#14 Ebondo- Age 22- Esporte Clube Porta
#26 Boateng- Age 23- Fiorentino Rigo

Forwards:

#28 Bilaydinetov- Age 30- Arsar (Erathore)
The dynamic forward plays as a supporting role to striker Fico, but often finds himself on the score sheet due to his great shooting and dribbling. Has good experience from the Erathi league, although sometimes has problems with injury.
#12 Fico- Age 22- Astillero (The Golden Tamarind)
The young striker is the future of Ocel0t's strike force, with amazing talent at a young age. He is still immature, however, and will look to veteran Bilaydinetov for guidance. With a great shot and an un-matched dribbling ability (at least on the Ocel0t national team,) his only weakness is that he goes for glory when others may be better positioned, and his passing may need improvement.
#10 Palacious- Age 23- Draga Portamonense
#11 Wölf- Age 22- Draga Portamonense
#35 Gonzalez- Age 28- Esporte Clube Porta

Goalkeepers:

1- Roberto BENNEDETTO (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 6’4’’ - Weight: 193lbs – Age: 21 years old
Roberto Bennedetto is is the best goalkeeper in Erathore. No doubts about that. He surpassed Galigilygano as the best keeper of the modern day when he put on a flawless display in the 55th World Cup. During his young career, he has won the Seria-A golden glove twice and has won it in the King’s Cup. With so many years in front of him, we could possibly see Bennedetto become the best keeper in the world.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A

Caps: 53, Goals 0

12- Alessio Affonso GALIGILYGANO (Team: Lilter United---Southern Cynocephali)
Height: 6'2'' - Weight: 191lbs – Age: 31 years old
Galigilygano has been considered one of the greatest keepers to play in Erathore for the majority of his professional career. Lately that title has been taken from him and bestowed upon the young Roberto Bennedetto. Galigilygano does not care; he is far too professional for that. He missed out on the majority of the 55th World Cup do to him having sustained a serious injury but he looks set to play in this one, albeit as a sub. Galigilygano pulls off saves that he deems to be comfortable and not too risky, but if a more spectacular save is necessary he will not hesitate to perform it. Galigilygano is reluctant to challenge an enemy offender due to him having broken 3 ribs in his first professional game that saw him missing a few games.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A
Caps: 30, Goals: 0

19- Hérion GALONLOTH (Team: Iturributa United--Astograth)--Elf
Height: 6'4’' – Weight: 179lbs – Age: 1114 years old
Looking not a day over the age of 20, Hérion Galonloth is one of the better keepers in Erathore. He looks set to make as big of an impression internationally as he has with Royal Vosaroni Anetenelli as he only conceded 24 goals as RVOA destroyed their Seria-C competition.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 7, Goals: 0

Defenders:

2-Fredrico MANLIO (Team: Manlio)
Height: 6' - Weight: 176 – Age: 24 years old
Fredrico Manlio is the great-grandson of Diauiditori Manlio, the great striker of Erathore and founder of the Manlio football club. However there are some on the team who resent him for his connection to Manlio. Despite the immense pressure that comes with this relationship, Fredrico performs very well, almost flawlessly.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A

Caps: 60, Goals: 2

3-NERO Romo (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 5'8'' - Weight: 167 – Age: 26 years old
Nero has been trained to be a top footballer since his youth, participating in most of the youth high level club teams of the country. Even though he had the misfortune of always landing on a losing team during that age, as a professional he toke Elidoro FC into Seria-A before transferring to the Erathi powerhouse team FC Mildrid.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 61, Goals: 0

4-Barino DINO (Team: FC Mildrid) - THIRD-CAPTAIN
Height: 5'9'' - Weight: 166 - Age: 26 years old
Barino Dino is definitely the best defender in Erathore as exemplified by him being named Defender of the Year two seasons in a row. He had a good world cup 2 years ago and hopes are high for him to have another good one. Dino is a speed demon that packs a deadly punch in the form of his tackling ability.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 39, Goals: 1

13-Tom Lathan (Team: Arsar)
Height: 5'9'' – Weight: 160lbs – Age: 28 years old
A versatile center back, Lathan's main is his speed and his wonderful tackling ability. He also has good technical ability, allowing him to push up the field during important parts of the game.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 7, Goals: 0

14-Vanni DEL NARAN (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 5'7'' – Weight: 161 – Age: 22 years old
Since being placed on the national team, Naran has found that his domestic and international game have improved immensely. He has crisp passing, good heading, good standing tackles, good speed, just an all around good player.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A
Caps: 33, Goals: 1

16- Mariano ALBERICO (Team: Vincanto)
Height: 6'3'' - Weight: 181 – Age: 30 years old
Alberico is not a clean footballer. Given his brief stint in the military, he likes to argue with officials and players from the other team. A lot. This has resulted in many a yellow and the occasional red. However he produces results so he is kept on the team. He plays hard and plays to win.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: B - Form: A
Caps: 42, Goals: 0

Midfielders:

5-NARAZO Del Pietro (Team: Charzzan)
Height: 5'7''– Weight: 163lbs – Age: 28 years old
Narazo Del Pietro is a player who can play both sides of the field, although he prefers to play on the right side. His passing has improved immensely and this results in a better game for him and the team. He is pretty good at distributing the ball, but his real strength comes from his slide tackles and his speed.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: B – Form: A
Caps: 61, Goals: 16

7-Alexio Del Nieran (Team: Cafundéu do Juta---Cafundéu) -CAPTAIN
Height: 6'1'' – Weight: 165lbs – Age: 23 years old
Alexio Del Nieran is back playing for la furia azule after playing for Swartaz in the 56th World Cup do to disagreements between him and the recent actions of Erathore's government. We sympathize with him and welcome him back with open arms. He has already been reinstated as Captain and he will be looking to regain his status as Erathore's most capped player. His record, 53 caps, has been surpassed by several players. The current record is 62 with Narazo Del Pietro, who won't be a starter due to him having sustained a medium injury in practice. In his first season in Cafundéu, playing with Dunboor FC, scored 57 goals in 80 appearances and won the Dunboor State Championship, Emperor's Cup, and the Cygnus Cup, for which he was the top goalscorer in the first two and probably was for the Cygnus. (OOC: I cannot make the claim that he won the golden boot do to other nations having competed. However, as he was the top scorer for Dunboor, who won the tournament, it is safe to say that he won it). He looks to regain the faith of the Erathi people, and it is expected that he will have no problem doing that.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 55, Goals: 43

20-Espen Úpaddol ROLODEL (Team: FC Mildrid) --Elf
Height: 6' - Weight: 153lbs - Age: 3255 years old
The first non-human player in Erathore, Rolodel has proved that you don't have to be human to be good at footy. In 47 appearences for FC Mildrid, he found net 37 times, earning him the golden boot and several other awards. He is looking to nab his first few caps and goals in this tournament. Rolodel blends speed, power, and skill together to form a weapon that he uses to deadly effect.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale A - Form: A
Caps: 24, Goals: 9

6-Julio LANZIANO (Team: Valengren Kickers-QPEMA)
Height: 5'7'' - Weight: 159lbs - Age: 24 years old
Another player making his debut, Julio Lanizano is one of the premier midfielders in Erathore. He might be small but Julio makes up for it with speed, a sublime left foot, wonderful technical ability, and pure skill. He knows when to pass, when to carry the ball, and when to shoot. Despite numerous offers, Lanziano has admirably stuck with Nicostrato, although rumors are that he would like to move internationally. It will be interesting to see how this affects his play.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 23, Goals: 5

8-Elrohir CULNÁMO (Team: Tinuviel FC)-----Elf----VICE-CAPTAIN
Height: 6’ – Weight: 140lbs – Age: 3219 years old
Elrohir is an assister. He is also a goal scorer. He is also a striker, winger, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, withdrawn midfielder, anything. He is a complete attacking package. He sets up goals with his remarkable long passing ability. He scores from 30 yards away with rocket shots and he uses intricate dribbling skills to slip by his defender. He scores of free kicks, he scores off corners, he scores off open play. He is a wonderful asset to the team.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 15, Goals: 6

14-Marcello ALONSO Defon (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 6’ – Weight: 179lbs – Age: 19 years old
Alonso is the man you want in midfield to start attacks. No one his age passes better then him. No one can hit a player with a long pass with his level of accuracy. No one can predict his teammates runs as well as he can. He is the passing master. He also boasts a wickedly powerful and accurate shot, especially from long ranges. He has average footskills, which is fine, as he prefers to pass the ball along to a teammate.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 12, Goals: 1

17-ANTONIO Casento (Team: Athens Town-Civil Citizenry)
Height: 5'11'' - Weight: 173lbs - Age: 24 years old
Antonio Casento almost singlehandedly delivered back to back promotions to Astria Yaburi and this has resulted in AY playing in Seria-A for the first time in their history. He is widely praised for his sheer speed and skill throughout Erathore. He will most likely continue his role as a substitute.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: B+ - Morale A+ - Form: A
Caps: 14, Goals: 2

22- EMLIO Fredrico(Team: CR Submiria-Churchma)
Height: 170cm – Weight: 72kg – Age: 30 years old
Emlio is a player that loves to play the game. He trains everyday, wears his jersey around the house and has been known to sleep in it from time to time. As a player, he works as a second defensive midfielder, with more freedom to go to the attacks, mostly due to his ability in controlling the ball and making precise passes. His favored and most classic move is performing a backwards pass with his heel after catching the ball on a bounce.
Rating: B – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: B
Caps: 54, Goals: 2

18-Isidoro NAO (Team: Litala '93-Mytannion)
Height: 5’10’’ – Weight: 160lbs – Age: 19 years old
Nao is another of one of the stand out players on this DBC team. He won the golden boot in hiw first season with Litala '93 and is expected to do big things for the club. Isidoro is know for his technical ability, creativity, pace, and ability to read the game. He has been described as a player whose vision and imagination make him an unpredictable opponent.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: B – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 16, Goals: 8

Forwards:

21-Camthalio RINGËRIL (Team: Royal Vosaroni Anetenellli)
Height: 5'9'' - Weight: 139lbs - Age: 3330
Two years ago he was no one. An elf who was about to have his professional debut in the Erathore Seria-C. He scored 48 goals in 38 games and finished first in Seria-C. 'Easy competition.' 'One time wonder.' That's what what people said. Those sayings have been put to rest. 101 goals in 76 Seria-B appearances.11 goals in the King's Cup including a hat trick against FC Mildrid in the final. 11 goals in 5 games in the Copa Del Era including a hat trick against Juvillian Martinax in the final. Seria-B Champion, King's Cup Champion, Copa Del Era Champion, winner of the Palla dell'oro, Golden Tree, Golden Boot, and Forward of the Year awards. His speed is unmatched. His shots are the strongest, fastest, and most accurate I have seen in my lifetime. He has wonderful dribbling and passing skills. He can talk to the ball, ask it to do things it wouldn’t normally do. He is a free kick master. He can bend the ball over and around the wall, as well as knuckle ball it. He is perfectly adept at using the left or right foot. He is also capable of striking the ball powerfully and accurately with his instep and outsole, enabling him to score from just about anywhere. He only has a year left on his contract with Royal Vosaroni Antenelli and rumors are he wants to depart overseas.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form A
Caps: 0, Goals: 0

10-Gaspare MALVOLIO (Team: A.F.F.----Cafundéu)
Height: 5'8'' – Weight: 163lbs – Age: 27 years old
Malvolio is incredibly quick and agile with impressive dribbling skills to match that speed as well. He also has a massively powerful and fast shot that can go from ground to goal faster then the keepers reflexes.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A– Morale: A – Form: A

Caps: 60, Goals: 29

11-CESC Celestino (Team: Eldorado-Cafundéu)
Height: 5'7'' – Weight: 159lbs – Age: 20 years old
Cesc Celestino is a wonderful forward who, at the age of 18, was the subject to a $21 Million deal to the best league in the world. With 6 goals in 5 U-21 games and 8 goals in 11 appearances for the senior team, Cesc is undoubtly the most accomplished player of his age. A product of the FC Mildrid Youth Academy and a promising striker FCM slipped him into the senior squad at age 17. He was named player of the week during his professional debut game against Drago de Celio. He finished the season with several awards and 38 appearances and 23 goals. This attracted the attention of Eldorado from Cafundéu, who signed him on a $23 million contract.
Rating: A - Team Relationship: A - Morale: A - Form: A
Caps: 29, Goals: 15

9-Erurcion NARYAIEL (Team: Vincanto)---Elf
Height: 5'10'' – Weight: 149lbs – Age: 8962 years old
Another elf to add to the team. And just like the other one, he is up to the task. Naryaiel is fast, good with the ball, and has a natural talent for getting goals. Just like any striker. But what sets Naryaiel apart is his wonderful passing/opportunity making. He was praised this season, not only for scoring goals, but for his inventive play and long passing. He has a vast array of tricks to use and will not hesitate to make new ones. Naryaiel is also a set piece expert, scoring and setting up multiple goals on them during this past season.
Caps: 17, Goals: 5

15-Lucifer ANDREA (Krevetka-KDZ)
Height: 6'2'' – Weight: 176lbs – Age: 27 years old
Lucifer is a jack of all trades, master of none. He is also damn good at those trades. He's fast, he's strong, he's good. What more must be said?
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 35, Goals: 16

23-Ricardo VILLA (Team: FC Mildrid)
Height: 175cm – Weight: 71kg – Age: 19 years old
Nicknamed Le Bambino Dorato (The Golden Kid), Villa is expected to be the next big thing in Erathore football. With loads of goals to his name whilst playing for the FCM Youth Squad and a solid performance in the DBC, World Cup, and in the ongoing Olympics, it's only a matter of time before he becomes a starter.
Rating: A – Team Relationship: A – Morale: A – Form: A
Caps: 13, Goals: 13

Kazzorian National side

The Kazzorian national team consists Entirely now of Eygptian gods. The last squad was removed after science proved that they were non-existant and just a figment of some refugees imagination. Ra the king of gods will take his poistion as manager, although he is trapped in another realm so will have to skype in. Meanwhile Nut the godess of the sky will also have to skype is as she is trapped in the clouds. Geb meanwhile will be the coach as he is the only one able to be on the ground, literally. Meanwhile Osiris will be the captain as the new king of the gods with Horus as the vice-captain. There are only eleven other gods plus two monsters (Ammit and Apep) Here then is the squad:

Starters in Bold

Goalkeepers

1. Anubis: God of the Dead/Embalming (Will be hoping to kill of the opositions attacks)

Defenders

2. Osiris: Old god of dead and new king of gods (Can stop attacks dead in their tracks with his skills).
3. Ma'at: Godess of justice (Will be giving the strikers their Comeuppance with her solid defending).
4. Horus: God of Pahroahs (Can use his leadership skills to get the defence together to stop offsides)

5. Apep: Snake of evil (Stopped Ra on the odd occasion and might be able to stop defenders if they let him out of the duat)

Midfielders

6. Hathor: Goddess of music (Will be hoping to make sweet music in midfield with good through play)
7. Isis: Goddess of Magic (Her magic always helps making something in attack)
8. Thoth: God of Wisdom (His wisdom is always great in orginising the attacks, plus he has a spell that makes chicken tikka)
9. Amun: God of Creation (Hopefully he'll be able to create something in midfield for the strikers)

Strikers

10. Bastet: Goddess of cats (With feline reflexes she can surely give the defence a beating.)
11. Sekhmet: God of destruction (Will be looking to destroy the opposition's defences this cup.)
12. Set: God of chaos (Can cause some chaos in defence with his attacks)

13. Ammit the destroyer: Eater of evil souls (If it escapes the world of the dead then it might make an appearance).

*Due to the odd federal nature of Nieuwe Sleeswijk, all states are meant to be represented in international events of all kinds, however it is generally agreed that the best people should be in any team and there should be no selection restrictions put on coachs, thus states not representated in the actual squad will have a player selected by the coach to represent their state in a non-playing capacity in the squad. Inter-state rivalry and different cultures still present a difficult political matter in all realms of life in Nieuwe Sleeswijk.

In depth chart form
Keepers:

Clayton Sellman, Aged 31, Arskanskigrad United
Though not as good as he once was, past performances prove that he has been more than able to perform for club in country. His age poses a question though, especially with younger replacements like Austin just waiting to take over.

Harley Austin, Aged 23, Riesberg City
The obvious replacement for Sellman, Austin is one of the many young Riesberg phenoms that have been taking the league by force. A very athletic keeper who is only going to improve from here on out.

Defenders:

Tad Abston (CB), Aged 27, Riesberg City
After coming in the top 3 for the MVP Award, Abston has never looked better: and that is saying something. Look for him to dominate any attacks down the middle with apparent ease.

Robert Anderson (LB), Aged 24, Hartville SC
Many, many people will be wondering who Anderson is. Anderson is one of the two reasons that Hartville managed their miraculous top-10 finish despite having an overall beater squad. The fastest defender on the team, look for him to push up a lot when the team needs it.

Linda Deguzman (Female, CB), Aged 18, Homestead Raiders
By far the youngest player on the team, she has a lot to prove to the country at this tournament. Coming from a less than glorious squad, Deguzman will also be looking to attract the attention of the big six in Albundania as well. She tends to use a lot of brute strength in her defending.

Michael Saenz (RB), Aged 27, Liszeograd CF
Close to beating a record for being the oldest Albundanian to get their first international cap, Saenz really stepped up his game for Liszeograd this last season keeping them at 14th despite the other major problems in the squad. He, like Deguzman, uses pure strength and good vision to stop most advances up the wing.

Brian Johnson, Aged 23, Albundia City United
A real future prospect for Albundania, look for him to get subbed on at some point so he can prove himself to Simpson. One of the key aspects in Albundaia City United's top-class defense, look to him if you need a man with superb vision and blinding speed.

Jesse Wiley, Aged 32, Chicago Nuevo SC
Thought to only be on the team because of his past world cup experiences with Albundania, one of the few players who was also on the squad back in WC 55. He has a decent all around game, but nothing superb here.

Midfielders:

Captain Lisa Jacoby (Female, CM), Aged 29, Chicago Nuevo SC
She truly deserves the captains armband. Often compared to Q Inieta at his prime for good reasons. Her pass is sublime, she has brilliant vision on and off the ball, and her shots are nearly always on-target at the least. One of the best Albundanian players to come around in a long time.

Evan Liszeo (CM), Aged 26, Albundia City United
Liszeo utilizes all of his strength in his game. His brutal and somehow mostly legal tackles leave no one safe on the ball, and he is almost impossible to force of the ball. Combine that with some real chemistry working in the middle with Jacoby and the fact that he is a sniper at long range, and you have the perfect partner for Jacoby in the middle.

Richard Brooks (LM), Aged 25, FC Hollandstile
A solid and quick winger who plays for Hollandstile, another youth oriented team who have been playing really good footy of late. Brooks has a pretty decent shot, and some blinding speed. Admittedly, his passing has been a bit spotty.

Jürgen Freytag (RM), Aged 28, Royal Egaigus
A surprise inclusion and potential weakness at the right side of the field. He isn't a bad player, necessarily, but he isn't quite of the same caliber as the rest of the team. No outstanding strengths from this Egaigus winger, but no particularly huge weaknesses either.

Eva Smith (Female), Aged 28, Catal FC
There was some discussion over whether or not Liszeo or Smith would get the starting job. Apparently Liszeo has, but look for Eva to start a game or two anyways. She has a brilliant pass and leadership ability.

George Evans, Aged 25, Royal Egaigus
A total surprise, not much is known about Evans since he's only played on season in the AMFL. Seems to be a decent all-arounder with some creativity.

Strikers:

Aaron Louis, Aged 23, FC Hollandstile
A phenomenal young striker, he stands relatively short at 5 feet 8 inches, but he has some of the best dribbles ever seen from an Albundanian. He proved this in the AMFL by scoring a remarkable 28 goals to win the league's Golden Boot. If he ever gets anything even somewhat resembling an open lane, look for him to slot it into the net.

Aaron O'Donell, Aged 27, Hartville SC
Though he is never particularly brilliant for his club, he certainly plays well for his country, always averaging around a goal per game. He is a strong striker with a brilliant ability to finish from long distance. If Louis can't get it in for an easy goal, look for O'Donell to get it and destroy the net from long range.

Evan Lawson, Aged 27, Chicago Nuevo SC
He plays with the same style as O'Donell except that he does a bit better for club than country. He is also a bit injury prone, which could be the main reason he isn't starting.

Michel Carbonnier's squad for Copa Rushmori VI keeps in the tradition of "transitional" squads selected for the tournament. Whilst not quite the "A" squad, many of the big stars are present- but a handful of first timers will make their first important caps for Cotdelapoms. The team will also be outfitted in a brand new "retro" kit that is as simple and elegant as possible- a truly excellent new shirt.

Image

Copa Rushmori VI Squad

(Starters in Bold)

GOALKEEPERS
Romain Frederiksson, Worcester Hearts
Timothée Riopel, SK Franz Josef City (Polar Islandstates)
Nicolas Painchaud, Étoile Rouge

Notable for his absence is Yannick Latendresse, who will almost certainly have to fight for the #1 shirt in the next World Cup but will, Carbonnier has assured us, be back with the national team then. We are unsure as to whether or not the non-Frederiksson keepers will get playing time in such a short tournament. Riopel has been very impressive in the Polarian league, which has assured his jump in the pecking order over Painchaud and earning him starting spots in recent friendlies with Ocaterra and Tamarindia.

DEFENDERS
CB- Loïk Mailhot, Atlético Jutense (Cafundéu)
CB-Dermot O'Brien, Montréal
LB- Einar Sigurdsson, Ridgemont Town (QPeMA)
RB- Alexandre Grainger, Montréal

Alessandro Battistuzzi, Sparta
Guillaume Leblanc, Hochelaga
Salvatore Eagle III, Cosmopolitan

Barrie and Dubé take a tournament off, although Dubé may not factor in to the future plans of the national team. Jonathan Barrie definitely has at least one more tournament in him. First major tournament for O'Brien and debuts in general for Leblanc (who had a sterling Série A season) and Battistuzzi (who has been developing into one of the most no-nonsense defenders in the league). This is a much more defensive group than normal for Cotdelapoms, with only Grainger as a player who has any interest in bombing forward.

MIDFIELDERS
LW- Jesper Jensen, Montréal
AM- René Boisbriand, Nacional (Valladares)
DM- Pascal-Luc Brillant, Worcester Hearts
RW-Renato Jefferson, Canalave Dragons (Valladares)

Pierre-Alexandre Séguin, Worcester Hearts
Jean Bédard, Montréal
Yoann X'Arc'Tx, Cosmopolitan
Felicio Proença, Sparta

Nothing particularly notable in the four men who will likely start- all got extended time during the World Cup run, but the bench contains four players with two Cotdelapomais caps between them. Séguin plays at forward for Worcester, but we all know that their "Christmas Tree" formation doesn't allow too many attacking players and he's more comfortable as an attacking midfielder. Bédard has shown fits of genius and also occasionally absolutely disappears and seems distracted, as often comes with youth. Proença is a talented creator who has earned a reputation for complaining about contact that comes his way, and X'Arc'Tx is very tough.

FORWARDS
Jackson Diawara, FKM (Kagdazka & Pazhujebu)
James Hunt, Montréal

Frédéric Bilodeau, Stephen of August (Nova Cambria)
Erubiel Navarro, Tout-Puissant Outremont
Christophe Charlebois, Baltimore

Peculiar group of strikers without Johansson-Bakvis, which means Jackson Diawara gets to show that this is his team in the future. A lot of trust is being put in Bilodeau and the very surprising Navarro, who has heaps of potential but has not shown very much so far as a professional. Rumours have Bilodeau joining a Série A team next season, which should help, and Navarro may find himself as the man at a club other than Outremont next year, which will give him much needed experience. Charlebois is obviously being rewarded for his club form.

My opponent, if they RP first, may do the following:
Choose my goalscorers Yes
Godmod scoring events Yes
RP injuries to my players Yes
Godmod injuries to my players No
Hand out yellow cards to my players Yes
Hand out red cards to my players Yes
Godmod other events Yes

Your Guide to Moncton, Whirl Islands

With the recent break up of Sirain, Whirl Islands share a border with us to the south and in that territory lies the city of Moncton, where you will conveniently find that Cotdelapoms will be playing all of their group stage matches for Copa Rushmori VI. With such easy proximity for us, and with heavy security discouraging "anti-social" (read: typical Mytanar) behaviour it will be easy to picture the first matchday contest with Mytannion as a home game for the Apples. Here are some helpful tips for you, the Cotdelapomais tourist to make yourself feel at home in Moncton.

 • There are actual police everywhere! Back home, there are just police stations where mountains of paperwork get filed and stored.
 • Their primary tourist attraction is a nearby optical illusion hill that makes it appear as though your car is being pulled forward. Nova Cambria has one of these too, and we mock them for it- we didn't know about this one the whole time it belonged to Sirain but the Whirl Islanders seem quite proud of it. Let's let them have their fun for now.
 • This city is full of small town sorts of people, even if it's a semi-metropolitan area. You will be looked at strange for being from out of town. Just imagine you are in Sainte-Catherine if you're from Marianne, or Portsmouth if you are from Chênederven.
 • This is a developing area- just flash some money at them and they will be happy to do what you want.
 • If anyone here is antagonistic towards you, remind them of Cotdelapoms' long legacy of footballing victories over Valladares. That will certainly endear you at least temporarily.
 • Once Cotdelapoms beats Mytannion, it'll feel just like home. Or Thessia.

Let's make our fans a tour de force in Ayacucho!

(Busy: I'll post The Hidden Paw's roster & RP permissions as soon as I have time, probably on Saturday, but if anybody actually needs them before that then you can take it that the roster is basically -- and the permissions are exactly -- the same as last time around.)

'Team delayed in Mytannion.'

by Vladimir Hyralov

The national team has been delayed from travelling to Moncton - where the first Group D game will be played. The game is against our arch rivals, Cotdelapoms - and it is a game upon which a whole load of honour lies. Our fans have been known to trash stadia and the surrounding areas after winning games, never mind losing to the nation who have people almost everywhere in our own nation and can goad us until the next time we meet. The fact that their people are so intertwined with our own lives means that it is truly a terrible thing whe we lose to them, they may be our bestfriends and be a part of our families or whatever - but whether they are best mate, husband, wife or parent - they can goad the living daylights out of you after their team beats us in something.

The fact we're playing them so close to home and the fact that the Whirl Islands (the part of the nation we're playing in isn't even an island), are apparently clever enough not to allow our fans into their stadiums and so their has been a ban on Mytanars going to Ayacucho and supporting the teams in Moncton and Hoxvathor - although when our team do finally arrive, they will be staying and training in the city of Arica. The problems which the team have encountered and have caused them to be delayed - I shall explain later. However, I'm going to talk about the ban on Mytanars travelling to Ayacucho, where the games will be played, first.

Ayacucho is very close-by, to mainland Mytannion - it'd be quick enough for some fans to hop on a plane from Esca, Thessia, Ebor, Miago - any of the airports in fact, and just travel there as if they were travelling to Cotdelapoms; the two places share a border. However, the Whirl Islander authorities have announced that they will not allow Mytanars to travel to games on account of the trouble our fans have caused in the past. We think this is a bit unfair - which we would of course, but if our fans have decided to be non-violent and more considerate to the locals in recent times (which they haven't, bu that is beside the point), then they would just be missing out on a chance to travel to a massive tournament just on what the minority of fans have done in the past - which is very unfair and is tarring all Mytanar fans with the same brush.

One Whirl Islander official said, "And as for those Mytanar hooligans...no. They will not be allowed entry to the Whirl Islands. If we find any of them in our nation, we'll make sure they get a one-way ticket back to that 'youthful rebellion paradise'."

Sure, we have had our problems in the past with both football hooliganism and crime - mainly youth crime - and sure, we still do - but mostly within our own nation. The crime will not be happening abroad, and surely if it does - they can just be arrested or whatever they do over there. Of course, if they were Mytanars - they wouldn't be doing anything wrong unless they were directly hurting a non-consenting person in whatever they were doing, whether it be drugs, youths drinking alcohol or smoking - obviously that makes theft, murder, rape etc - all crimes, unless someone is being assisted in suicide or whatever, but vandalism isn't a crime, curiously - as it happens enough in Mytannion, maybe we've just learned to accept it.

The crimes happen on our own soil, we do give people the responsibility to try and at least comply with the rules of the country they're in but they should just be extradited back and dealt with here. What happened to that Mika kid when he hurt some police officers in Valanora was terrible. It has been described, but we've not seen the poor kid since then.

Anyway, it is once again the pesky snow and tundra of our nation which is keeping the team grounded in Mytannion, and it certainly will be a race against time for our team to actually manage to fly into Ayacucho before the game tomorrow, rumour is that they're training in Thessia still - after all, it is where the best facilities in Mytannion are, for sports anyway - but that will not be anywhere near the conditions in Moncton, where we expect it will be a whole lot warmer, although they are pretty close to Cotdelapoms which is also very cold.

It is no good for the team though if the plane attempts to take-off and crashes or something and then we lose some of our best players to the air crash or whatever - which has happened overseas - then it would be no good, we would lose Mytanar people, people with families - and that would be terrible. Of course, we'd be losing our greatest footballing generation ever, too - bu that is very selfish, really.

Another problem which has come out of this delay is the fact that Theo Wekkler has not released his 23-man team yet, which is quite annoying - this is pretty much because he hasn't known whether he was coming or going, and also because of how unorganised our press have been recently - what with the troubles in Ebor and the attempted attack on the Queen. Life has been hard recently, but we'll leave you now - good luck to the team, hope they get to Ayacucho in time, hope they manage to beat the Cotdelapomais, although we've had a poor record against them recently. I'm going to rip off another famous sports' reporter by ending with:

Smile!

The Astograth National Football Team

Style: +1
Colours

Manager - Image Powell Pieran (a.k.a. Poridogax Pinerat)
Following Astograth's Round of 16 exit at Cup of Harmony 48, Pieran has a pretty good idea of what the national team can do and already has a team in mind for the World Cup 57 qualifiers. He sees the Copa Rushmori as a secondary tournament in which he can try out the more untested players, though his decision to call up a squad featuring no regular starters hasn't been a popular one. Pieran himself is a rather arrogant 47 year-old manager who enjoyed some success with Citiz side Eastern Chase before being hired by the FAF to replace the retired Gartzen Treko. Irascible and capricious, he is nonetheless a sound tactician.

Starting XI:

#1 - GK - Cheru Larretape (C) - Age 24 - Royal Rumiatzi – 17 caps, 32 goals against, 4 clean sheets
Larretape has been given a chance over Zernin Aira this time around, and even been handed the captain's armband virtue of having been on every single roster since the national team's formation. His leadership and communication skills may be called into question, much like his aerial ability due to his low height. He makes up for it with great agility, positioning, reflexes and speed, though. Doesn't quite have the same composure and concentration as Aira, which costs him dearly sometimes.

#7 - LB - Urtzi Galard - Age 21 - Royal Rumiatzi – Uncapped
A veteran of three Di Bradini Cups, his quick, offensive runs down the wing are a constant threat. Tireless for the full ninety and an expert crosser, he can seamlessly swap positions with the less mobile Dicharry. Frequently pushes up too much, but runs right back when he notices the flank has been exposed.

#2 - CB – Iturri Aginaga - Age 29 – Image Alianza Ciruelas – 5 caps
Part of the Iturributa United side that won two leagues, two domestic cups and two Ides of March Cups, Aginaga always stuck out more for his determination and concentration than any particularly great defensive talents. Left the comfort of United for the money and prestige of the Liga Aguazuleña, his performances at the Cup of Harmony satisfied Pieran.

#4 - CB - Sotil Burruchaga - Age 23 - Sporting Iturributa – 7 caps
Pinched from Royal Association and perfected at Sporting's prolific school of defenders, he has adapted to the Chevrons' first team without a problem and makes his presence felt with size and grit. He's not fast at all, but he often doesn't need to be.

#14 - RB - Artizar Medrano - Age 27 - Image Cap Nordique – Uncapped
Fast and tireless, but suffers from a lack of concentration and determination. A rather inconsistent performer whose morale plummets to the point where he can barely play when goals come due to a mistake of his.

#17 - LM – Eneko Dicharry - Age 28 – Image Worcester Hearts – 10 caps, 1 goal
Dicharry is, at long last, content with himself. No amount of trophies won with Iturributa United helped his condition as perennial substitute, nor did the Royal Cup triumph or the national team call-up lighten up his miserable relationship with the Ituraitz Victory manager. Now he is a star in the Série A, and finally feels his career is turning up following a solid Cup of Harmony performance that saw him score his first international goal. As far as footballing skill goes, he isn't very fast but passes exceptionally well, and is also remarkably good at defending.

#8 - CM - Oskitz Gerrikabeitia - Age 23 - Image Kimini United – Uncapped
A good passer and even better tackler, Gerrikabeitia dominates the centre of the pitch. Though a bit of a hard-hitter, when he wins the ball he has enough skill to hold onto it before handing it over to someone else. Not very tall nor good at shooting, so doesn't venture forwards very often.

#12 - RM – Lukar Mendikoa - Age 23 - Ituraitz FC – 3 caps
Mendikoa is incredibly speedy, and hits the ball surprisingly hard for a little man like him. His crossing and ball recovery leave much to be desired, though, which will probably see him brought on as an inside forward in the later minutes of the game.

#10 - AM - Otz Lasuen - Age 22 - Iturributa United – 8 caps, 1 goal
Despite being the youngest squad member, Lasuen has already gathered plenty of experience following two Di Bradini Cups and several seasons in the first teams of Victory and Echegoyan FC. In the eyes of many he has consolidated as a viable alternative to the ageing Bularte, exhibiting the same playmaking ability and the same calm demeanor. Recently been transferred to Iturributa United with views to replacing Bularte at club level.

#20 - CF – Tipi Nanklares - Age 22 - Iturributa United – 12 caps, 3 goals
Provocative. If there is one word to describe Nanklares, that would be it. He's taken a liking to riling up the opposing fans and players on the back of his great scoring ability, which has earned him a good few needless red cards. Not overly tall, but jumps surprisingly high and posseses quick enough feet to try to go past the keeper at every chance.

#9 - CF – Artzeiz Zornoza - Age 26 – Image Marinos Metropolis – 3 caps
An exceptional first touch propelled Zornoza from the Astograthian Second Division to Marinos Metropolis of the highly-rated Valladar Super League. Though not given a chance by Treko, his performances caught the eye of Pieran, who took him to the Cup of Harmony and wants to try him out some more in the Copa Rushmori.

Substitutes:
#13 - GK – Mikelatz Elizalde - Age 26 - Image Bugny FC – Uncapped
Elizalde's leap from the promoted Ibarbe Polo Club to one of Saugeais' top teams was so great that all the Internet columnists and TV pundits now assert that of course he's always been an excellent keeper and how didn't you notice earlier. Regardless, he'll have a tough time dethroning Rumiatzi golden boy Larretape as second choice, nevermind Zernin Aira. At the Copa Rushmori he at least has a chance at earning his first cap.

#23 - GK – Astigar Barrueta - Age 25 - Ituraitz FC – Uncapped
Brought along for the experience of being in an international competition, really, as he has nearly no chances of playing. Played a match at Di Bradini Cup 17 several years back and then spent two seasons on loan at Ibarbe Polo Club before taking over from Lapurdi Abaitua at Ituraitz FC. Hasn't done badly so far, though he is a far cry away from the best Astograthian goalies.

#3 - LB - Cherran Zarranz - Age 24 - Sporting Iturributa – Uncapped
Slowly earned a place as a starter at league champions Sporting Iturributa due to his grit and usefulness as a utility player. He is most comfortable as a left-back, but can also be deployed as a centre-back, defensive midfielder or left winger. There is a downside to this; the lack of specialization means he can't carry out any of these roles as well as the ones dedicated to them.

#6 - CB – Erruki Echardi - Age 32 – Image FC Cape Saint Paul – 5 caps
Four years out in the cold, and now called-up for the Copa Rushmori following his inspired performances in the Polarian league. How's that for a comeback? Though on the wrong side of thirty, Pieran thinks he might still be a viable alternative for the World Cup 57 qualifiers. Tall, strong and very, very slow. Crossing the ball to him during corners is a sure way of getting at least one shot on goal, though.

#15 - CB - Tartalo Maruri - Age 24 - Iturributa United – Uncapped
A small man who can play precise passes at any distance and anticipate excellently. Always keep a cool head but prefers to stand off opponents rather than going in for the tackle, which gets him in trouble sometimes.

#5 - RB - Eneko Dorregaray - Age 29 - Sporting Iturributa – 12 caps
Returning to the squad he was dropped from following World Cup 55, Dorregaray manages to be tough without sacrificing speed. His usefulness is rather limited in this formation, however, as the full-backs also need to be profficient at passing and crossing.

#22 - LM – Zuzen Barta - Age 21 – Iturributa United – Uncapped
Having played three Di Bradini Cups, the last one as captain, and several seasons in United's first team, Barta is no stranger to international tournaments. He plays seamless football, weaving together dribbles and passes with tremendous skill. Isn't afraid to shoot at goal either, which is something goalkeepers tend to learn a fraction of a second too late.

#16 - CM – Artzeiz Uhalt - Age 30 - Ituraitz FC – Uncapped
Another comeback tale, Uhalt was included in Astograth's first ever national team...and was the only one to not make a single appearance before being unceremoniously dropped for the next tournament. He's been itching to set the record straight for four years and finally earned his chance after spending several seasons as a deep-lying playmaker at Ituraitz FC, where he is also the vice-captain.

#19 - RM – Lore Echebarne - Age 26 - South Factory – Uncapped
Likes to do all the fancy tricks and dribbles while completely lacking the skill to execute them. Rather slow as well, but his tendency to be in the right place at the right time means he can still be useful granted he doesn't do something stupid.

#21 - AM - Iratze Zarazua - Age 27 - Ituraitz Victory – 4 caps
A competent playmaker who tends to fade in and out of the match, making him an inconsistent player at best. His skill at playing those vital passes and his commanding demeanor mean he is still worth having on the team, though.

#18 - CF – Beremando Aldoaga - Age 24 – Royal Rumiatzi – Uncapped
A giant of a player, Aldoaga's 1.97m make him first choice when heading of any kind needs to be done. He can tower over and power his way through any defense, though his comparative lack of pace often hinders him. Played at Blue Mountain Range before spending two relatively successful seasons at Erathore's AF Mildrid. Now at Royal Rumiatzi, where he hopes to end the team's enduring title drought.

#11 - CF - Itzaina Erreka - Age 22 - South Factory – 3 caps
Not very technically gifted but posseses an incredible sense of positioning, always knowing exactly where to stand in order to recieve the ball. His heading isn't anything out of this world either, however his shots are thunderous and fired without hesitation.

COPA RUSHMORI VI - THE START

By: Jairo Meluk,
Sports Editor,
Navel Island

NAVEL ISLAND (WIP) - Within hours of the start of the sixth Copa Rushmori edition, the first one to be held in the Whirl Islands, The Navel Post in its webpage (http://www.navelpost.wi) decided to organize for its users and readers all over the nation a chat with a member of the Organizing Committee (name not given due to confidentiality) about some controversy unleashed during the previous days and other important information, such as allocation of tickets for local and foreign fans, and other things.

The Navel Post: Thanks for answering our call, let us open this chat with this question: What will be the conditions for journalists (both local and foreign) to cover this tournament?

Organizing Committee Member: Thanks for your question. All journalists and media interested in covering the tournament will have to fill an application for an accreditation (you can find the link on the tournament's webpage). After that, we will consider your requests and we will decide whether we approve your application or not. If we do, you will be given an accreditation card which you will be required to show at the stadium's entrance in order to be allowed entry to the press zone. If we do not, it is because all the accreditations available have been awarded. We will limit that number to 30 per participating nation (50 more will go exclusively to local media).

lindab90: why did you decide to ban mytanar fans from entering the nation for the tournament?

OCM: Let's make this clear, we did not decide to ban all Mytanar fans. The ban was directed at the Mytanar "hooligans", which are known by their destructive and antisocial behaviour. We do not care if they only riot and cause destruction in their own nation, but recent reports (the most recent World Cup finals) speak badly about their behavior in and outside football grounds. That football culture does not exist in our country, and we do not want it to exist, either. We want to protect all those peaceful fans travelling to here from all over Rushmore, and we expect they (the hooligans) abide our ban. Our national Police will be ready to deal them with harshly if they need to.

lindab90: and what about if all those fans are hooligans?

OCM: The answer is simple. No hooligans will be allowed entry. If they are all hooligans, none of them will enter.

LukasLagoon: I heard some Civil Citizenry delegates criticized Lagoon Road the day after the draw, due to it being "too small". What are your thoughts on that?

OCM: We do not have that information, in fact, we did not know about it until you mentioned it, so we abstain of making any comments on the matter. Lagoon Road's local government should provide further explanations, after all, they were the ones who refused to make any reforms to the stadium.

ruudygonotredame: i'm from Civil Citizenry and i've got a question with regards to the allocation of tickets. How will that work for foreign fans?

OCM: WIFA will try to contact the other 35 participating FAs in order to know their interest in selling tickets for the event in their nations. For example, Cotdelapoms's football association and WIFA reached an agreement and the FFC will sell tickets to Cotdelapomais people in Cotdelapoms. WIFA will allocate a total of 20,000 tickets per association only for group stage matches. Although foreign fans can also buy their tickets in Whirl Islands, if they wish to. Tickets for matches from the play-off round onwards will only be sold in Whirl Islands and the cheapest ones will cost $10 (OOC: $10 in NS standard dollars).

Johan_Ruud: Will local fans have priority to buy tickets?

OCM: Yes. There will be one ticket booth in every host stadium selling tickets to local fans only, with their Whirl-Islander ID.

PeterShark: How will the teams be transported through the islands and Ayacucho?

OCM: WhirlAir is one of the tournament's local supporters and will serve as official transport of all the teams while they are competing in the tournament. For teams in Ayacucho, LíneaBus (a bus corporation) will offer its services to the teams competing there.

RedNavel: Why was Jamestown chosen as venue of the final and not Portomar Field? After all, Portomar will host more matches...

OCM: Waterfront Stadium was chosen as host because it is newer, is able to seat more people and is more modern. Navel Sharks also lodged to us their request to consider Waterfront Stadium offering us the chance to host the final match there as the first official match ever played at the stadium. As for Portomar, as you said, it will host more matches and it will also host the National Team for at least the group stage...

The Navel Post: And with that, we finish this chat with our readers and the member from the Organizing Committee. Thanks to everyone who participated, have a nice day and enjoy within some hours the first match of the Copa Rushmori!

FULL ROSTER:
(Caps in brackets indicate appearances from the bench)

Coach: Sol Kirkkegaard, 51
Sol Kirkkegaard was the hero of the hour, and the name on everyone's lips as he lead the Terns to a completely unexpected fourth place at the 56th World Cup. Qualifying from a group they weren't expected to from after a playoff match in which they were the underdogs, the Terns were treated to a phenomenally tough draw featuring Bostopia, The Archregimancy, and The Babbage Islands. Rousing team talks is one thing, setting up a team to draw against the Archregimancy and only lose to The Babbage Islands 1-0 is another entirely. In squad selection, man management, and team tactics, Sol excels. He was aware that the group may go to goal difference, and saw Bostopia's all-out attacking formation as the best chance to counter-attack with speed, and as a result ran out 5-1 victors, a result that saw the Terns proceed on goal difference at the expense of The Archregimancy. An extra time win and a penalty win later, and the Terns were in the the third placed play off after a defeat by Sorthern Northland. Defeat to Aguazul surely followed, but for taking the team that far, Sol can only be admired.

He has been outspoken recently on the subject of 'Sol's Boys'. Rather than favouritism, this is a term used by the Polarian press to describe the core of players that Sol had taken to relying on during the last two World Cup campaigns. Sol has come to agree with the press, and the retirement from international football of Maarten Berg following the World Cup has brought the issue home even harder. To combat the detrimental effect that more retirements would have on the squad in future, Sol has made the decision to axe all players aged twenty-nine or over from this Copa Rushmori. Obviously this gets rid of a host of big names, and with the U-21s training in anticipation of an invitation to the Draggonnii Inviyatti, this Copa will surely test the middle order of Polarian stars.

Assistant: Morten Yarbin, 66
The megaphone to Kirkkegaard's computer. The pair have worked together for coming up to twenty years, and in many cases Morten is able to start shouting a specific instruction onto the pitch with only a knowing glance from Sol. Loud, abrasive, fierce, and dogged, Morten is a master at motivating his players to do their best, walking the fine line between aggravating them and complementing them with a fine skill. Health problems have begun to tarnish his professional career, and we may well be seeing a new number two in the dugout in future tournaments. For now, though, expect Morten to be there, loud and proud.

#1 - GK - Lars Hegg Gammel - Age 26 - Saint-Urbain (Cotdelapoms) - 19 Caps
Lars moved abroad to Cotdelapoms in order to try and win a place in the Terns squad, fearing he'd never get the chance if he stayed stuck behind Atle Andreasson at SK. The move appears to have paid off, replacing Atle on the bench in the qualification campaign before stepping in following Karlsson's injury. Karlsson's place is by no means assured once the Copa is over, so expect to see this name for a long time yet.

#2 - DR - Sergey Makarov - Age 28 - Skyline City (Mangolana) - 62(3) Caps, 2 Assists
Devastated to miss out on the WC56 campaign through injury, Makarov has returned to the right-back position he left behind. At 28 years of age he is exactly the kind of player Sol wants to see lead at this Copa, where his 65 caps make him one of the most experienced members of the group. Fierce and tough to get past, he carries a strong and sensible head on his shoulders.

#3 - DC - Sander Ljungberg - Age 23 - SK Franz Josef City - 8(9) Caps
Vice captain at the DBC, Sander is expected to prove to Sol Kirkkegaard just how good a natural replacement for Maarten Berg he will be. Unbelievably, he will be the only capped central defender in central defence during this competition, and a lot may fall on his head as a result. Watch out for his movement, dependability, and extravagant tackling.

#4 - DC - Jan Kowalski - Age 26 - East Franz Athletic - Uncapped
Being thrown in at the deep end is as good a way to start off your international career as any I suppose, and Jan Kowalski is having to do just that. An imposing presence at the centre of the park for East Franz, he was a key component of their title winning campaign last league cycle and will be relied on to do a similar job here. Almost a sweeper, he will hang back and mop up any spillages before the keeper is needed, using his quick burst of pace to surprise attackers.

#5 - DL - Petter Marveau-Kahn - Age 25 - East Franz Athletic - Uncapped
Marveau-Kahn lines up alongside Kowalski for East Franz Athletic, and so the pair should be a reliable choice on the left side of defence, not needing to gel as much as other new players might do so. A wing-back in everything but the name, Marveau-Kahn will bomb forwards to display his wicked driven crosses as often as possible. Has dual Cotdelapomais-Polarian nationality, but chose to play for his country of birth.

#6 - DMC - Jorgen Hauge - Age 23 - Battle (Zarbli) - 31(2) Caps, 6 Assists, 4 Goals - VICE-CAPTAIN
A regular starter during the WC56 campaign, Hauge was a thorn in the side of many an opposition thoughout, and was instrumental in the Terns' overall performance. Hauge was the captain for the U21s in the Tern's most recent Di Bradini Cup appearance and has been handed the vice-captainy here. A bright future awaits this young lad, who is impressively large even by Polarian standards, and this chance to lead the Tern midfield for a whole competition is likely to improve further the reputation that brought him a move to Zarblese giants Battle. He is fast, can run non-stop for 90 minutes, can pick a pass at will, is a fierce tackler and nigh-on unbeatable in the air, as well as possessing a wicked long shot. This guy can change matches on his own and will be one of the standout performers for the Terns this competition.

#7 - RM - Steffan Hastings - Age 27 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 1(1) Caps, 1 Assist
It would appear than Sol is breaking his traditional 'Iceberg' formation to try something new. Whether or not he plans on being around that long, he nonetheless can't have ignored the vast swathes of talented wingers currently working their way through the ranks of the U-17s,-18s, and -21s, and so perhaps this is a tactical move to adjust the team to playing with wide midfielders, something he usually avoids. Steffan Hastings is one of the nation's most decorated players, winning a host of trophies with Jan Mayen, and now has the chance to test himself on a bigger scale. His pace and accuracy will be key.

#8 - DMC - Pol Sundstrom - Age 28 - Miago City (Mytannion) - 13(15) Caps, 3 Assists, 1 Goal
Hard as nails and solid as a rock, Pol Sundstrom and Jorgen Hauge playing in the same midfield is a truly intimidating prospect for opposition. Solid in the tackle and excellent at keeping the ball and slowing down the play, Pol could come on to seal games against feisty attacking opposition searching for equalisers, and has a solid header from corners and free-kicks.

#9 - ST - Patrick Ackermann-Finn - Age 28 - A.F.F. (Cafundéu) - 78(10) Caps, 13 Assists, 28 Goals - CAPTAIN
Ackermann-Finn is a tall and wiry striker, who excels at holding up the ball for his strike partner, or heading in from tight angles. Recently moved abroad to Cafundéu in order to try and learn from one of the highest ranked leagues in the world, Patrick has returned a more learned and experienced player, and he will leap at this chance to play as the lone striker in the absence of usual spotlight-grabber Timo Skye. Expect to see plenty of darting feet to tap in at the near post, and lots of heading down for an approaching Demarchelier. Simple, perhaps, but the simplest plans are often the best executed.

#10 - AMC - Luc Demarchelier - Age 26 - Parr City (Mytannion) - 38(27) Caps, 17 Assists, 4 Goals
More of a driving attacking midfielder than playmaker van Jendrisen, Demarchelier is one of a handful of Polarian midfielders playing in Mytannion. His powerful runs with the ball seemingly glued to his feet are a regular sight during the closing parts of many matches, as his stamina allows him to terrify tiring defenders. Still plenty young enough to make a massive impact on this side, this chance to start without the presence of Ole van Jendrisen, much of the creative direction for the team will come through this relatively young man.

#11 - LM - Petter Fjorrisen - Age 28 - SK Franz Josef City - 1(1) Caps, 1 Assist
Alongside Hastings, Fjorrisen is a beneficiary of Sol's new tactical direction, and at least during the group stage matches we should expect to see Fjorrisen and Hastings darting down the wings and whipping in the crosses for Ackermann-Finn. With a long history of tormenting defenders in his time at SK, opposition managers will have to ensure their players are well clued up on this dangerous attacker, otherwise goals will be flying in.

#12 - GK - Ole Gorrachategi - Age 27 - FC Torshavn - Uncapped
Wearing the number twelve shirt for the Terns this Copa will be the half-Astograthi Gorrachategi. He probably won't be expecting to get any game time out there, but the experience is sure to be a good thing for this tall and lanky goalkeeper. His distribution is excellent, even if his positioning can leave something to be desired, but he is very reliable and very rarely spills a shot. A favourite at FC Torshavn, he now has the chance to show himself on a wider stage.

#13 - GK - Mathias Marek - Age 28 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 2(4) Caps
Younger brother of captain Niko, penalty shoot-out specialist Mathias was the hero of the Burchadinger Cup, coming on to both score and save penalties as a last minute substitution on two occasions. He then repeated this feat against none other than Bears Armed in the World Cup, and helped propel the Terns into the semi-finals. Is in the squad again, he is a dependable keeper for Jan Mayen and his hunger for success drives him onwards at all times.

#14 - MC - Henning Tir - Age 27 - East Franz Athletic - 10(13) Caps
A well heeled utility midfielder that can play in almost any position across the midfield range. May be a little light on experience so far, but with the ageing starting lineup, Henning will surely get his chance on a more permanent level sooner or later, and with his outstanding start to his East Franz career, more than deserves his call up but is unfortunate that Sol's new formation doesn't call for a utility midfielder from the off.

#15 - MC - Artur Rochemback - Age 22 - Jan Mayen Islanders - 0(2) Caps
One of the younger members of the squad, Rochemback is finding it hard to break through to the first team at Jan Mayen due to the pure strength of the other players there. Despite this, Sol is confident that he has seen enough of this hardworkign player to merit his inclusion here, just edging out Hans van Ellson, who now earns a living in Swartaz. This confidence boost could be just what Rochemback needs, and if cards are played right he could be a force for the future.

#16 - AMC - Marcel Sanderskye - Age 23 - Miago City (Mytannion) - 1 Cap
Sanderskye is the second player from Miago City to make the 23 this time around, and his time in Mytannion seems to have turned his career around. Once suffereing from the same problem as Rochemback at Jan Mayen, Sanderskye moved to ply his trade in Mytannion, making an instant impact, and winning back a spot in the nation team as a result. He is fast, highly intelligent with his passing, and can shoot a wicked shot from anywhere up to 30yards. Nor is he averse to dropping back and helping out in defence.

#17 - ST - Henning Blonqvist - Age 28 - East Franz Athletic - 24(25) Caps, 2 Assists, 22 Goals
East Franz striker Blonqvist has sealed an almost telepathic relationship with new strike partner Berghoff at club level, but has been unable to nail down a starting position for his country. Despite this, he has made the number 17 shirt his own, and will be game-changing if brought on from the bench, which he surely will be. A stocky and physical striker, he looks to battle his way into poaching positions, and his leap makes him very competitive in the air for his height. Is hitting his physical and technical peak at the moment, and will be a formidable foe on the day.

#18 - ST - Jens Forgrossand - Age 25 - FC1. Bjarnarey Flotilla - Uncapped
With an impressive run of stats since helping Bjarnarey to the top tier, Fogrossand has proved to everyone what he already knew, that he can perform and win at top level football, influencing Sol to call him up today no doubt. He can also excel as a lone striker if given support, and would be a natural replacement for Ackermann-Finn should any injury befall the national captain.

#19 - DR - Oscar Egeberg - Age 25 - FC Axel Heiburg - Uncapped
Not one of the more celebrated products of the Haapa-Mechelin youth academy, Egeberg has nonetheless worked his way into the first team through hard work and much effort. He has put a string of good performances together for his team so far this season, and finds himself called up as a result of both that and the lack of 29+ players here. Not a natural attacker, he is a central defender moved across really, he stills finds time to drive the ball upfield when the chance presents itself.

#20 - ST - Amadeus Irndtor - Age 24 - SK Franz Josef City - 7(12) Caps, 1 Assist, 3 Goals.
With a lethal left boot and a sixpence turning circle, this speedy youngster is just waiting for his big chance, which he may get here. Hasn't exactly made a sparkling start to his career with the Terns since his goals at the Brotherhood Cup, but is out there to prove his doubters wrong.

#21 - DL - Jon Birk Pettersen - Age 27 - Bondage Safe (Civil Citizenry) - 2 Caps
Pettersen is a fully fledged part of the team at Bondage Safe now, having moved from Melville Celtic many years ago, and some in the Federation had forgotten about this dependable figure. Only has two caps, but if the untested Marveau-Kahn turns out to be a it ropey, expect this excellent tackler of the ball to take his place in the team.

#22 - DC - Bergen Oledatter - Age 28 - Vincanto FC (Erathore) - Uncapped
Moved away from SK to Erathore after being frustrated at the lack of time spent in the first team. Has found things more to his liking in Erathore but still probably wasn't expecting this call-up. His headers are powerful and he is a nigh-on unbeatable force in the air, meaning goals will fly in the opposition penalty box should he come up for corners. Is also faster than he looks, and attackers should not take him at face value.

#23 - DC - Piotr Nordin - Age 25 - Red Star Severny - Uncapped
Sneaking into the roster last but not least here then is Piotr Nordin. Partner to Ryan Ginn at Red Star, Nordin has crammed a lot into his career so far, with Globe Cup appearances under his belt. Will be looking to gain some experience from the trip as he expects to be nothing but a dependable backup to the national team in the future.

STARTING LINE-UP
3-3-3-1
------------------------------- Kielberg -------------------------------
--------------- Broberg - Friðfinnursson - Tommisen ---------------
-- Ragnarsson -------------- Eygenroy -------------- Ljótursson --
---------- Ragnarsson --- Sigurhelgason --- Jóhannsson ----------
----------------------------- Rosenmeyer -----------------------------
Happy to allow their opponents 60% possession or even more as a normality, Bleak Rock will be playing counter-attacking football this tournament. Looking to draw the attackers from the other team into a frustrating war of attrition in the defence, then lauching swift and devastating counterattacks that strike hard and fast at the opposition goal. This is guerilla football.
Modification: -5

The Protectorate of Bleak Rock, following their independence from the Federation of Polar Islandstates, is delighted to be able to submit their international team for entry into its first ever Copa Rushmori. After an uninspiring debut on the international football scene, including an 8-0 humiliation at the hands of Polar Islandstates, the Dukes picked themselves up and went on to storm to the runners-up spot in the recent Baptism of Fire. The confidence brought by this soon disappated however, after the Dukes took over half the qualification campaign to score any goals. Things picked up, but fans felt disappointed by what could have been.

Ljótur Friðfinnursson was tempted away by the bright lights of the assistant post at Swartaz, and so the BRFA was left trying to find a boss to take the Dukes forwards. With no applicants for the job from within Rushmore, the net was cast wider. Still, no applicants. Running out of options, the BRFA finally started sending letters of job offers to manager who had been out of the game for a while, and then finally, in inward looking Yafor 2, they got a response.

Shaan Magerin, the legendary Yaforite manager, will be taking the reigns for this Copa Rushmori, and presumably at least the World Cup campaign following it. Known for his unusual formations and his uncompromising attitude towards players who aren't performing as they should, Magerin will subsitute a badly performing star player within twenty minutes if the system doesn't fit the way he wants to unlock the opposing team. With Bleak Rock he will have his work cutout, these players are firmly set in their defensive 4-4-2, but if anyone can breathe new tactical life into Bleak Rock's unpredictable game, Shaan Magerin can. Aided by his Blockhead assistants, Oddur Eidergaard and Finnur Aagard, he will have to gel with them quickly if Bleak Rock are to progress in this tournament.

FULL ROSTER:
GOALKEEPERS
#1 - GK - Hallvarður Kielberg - Age 29 - Dominion (Cotdelapoms) - Hús Hreindýr
#12 - GK - Petter Sivertsson - Age 23 - Atammik Zenith FK (Polar Islandstates) - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#13 - GK - Jónas Magnússson - Age 28 - Glidi Hreindýrsal - Hús Hreindýr
Kielberg is the starter in what is a strong goalkeeping contingent in the squad, perhaps the best represented position of them all in fact. Sivertsson is one of a handful of representatives from the Polarian league, and one of only a couple from amongst them to not make the starting lineup, kept out by the impressive form of Kielberg, so impressive that it secured him a move to Cotdelapomais side Dominion.

BACKLINE
#3 - DC - Hafliði Broberg - Age 30 - Náhvarðvíkur Bæ IF - Hús Náhvalur
#4 - DC - Gull Tommisen - Age 30 - FK Grise Fiord (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hrafninn - VICE-CAPTAIN
#22 - DC - Hallvarð Friðfinnursson - Age 26 - VB Vatn Höfninflói - Hús Náhvalur

#20 - DC - Benedikt Aagard - Age 29 - FK Hámarvik - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#23 - DC - Óskar Jóhannsson - Age 31 - K85 Járn Virkaroy - Hús Hreindýr
In a defence that will be keen on avoiding another humiliation like they received against Polar Islandstates, vice-captain Tommisen will look to lead the line and hold steady in the face of attacking waves. Aggressive and not ashamed of getting stuck in, even with each other, this speedy defence will look to irritate, frustrate, and close down quickly, and their tall imposing frames with an average height of 5'11" will not make it easy for any attackers.

MIDDLE LINE
#2 - DR - Guðjón Ragnarsson - Age 27 - FF Berafjörðinn - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#5 - DL - Jens Ljótursson - Age 29 - Norðurmýrar 87 - Hús Hrafninn
#8 - DMC - Dietar Eygenroy - Age 26 - Jan Mayen Islanders (Polar Islandstates) - Hvítabjörninn Hús - CAPTAIN

#17 - DR - Steingrímur Aagard - Age 29 - Glidi Hreindýrsal - Hús Hreindýr
#18 - DL - Eyvindur Náhvalursson - Age 27 - Náhvarðvíkur Bæ IF - Hús Náhvalur
The key figure of Dietar Eygenroy will lead the way from the centre of the park for the Dukes, having both top flight Polarian football experience, as well as experience playing in the TQCC for Jan Mayen Islanders, and will surely be instrumental in any victories the Dukes manage to get under their belt. This central line of 'the back nine' will serve as a way of mopping up any attackers attempting to find space between the midfield and defence.

WINGERS
#7 - MR - Karl Justinussen - Age 29 - Leiknir Reykjanesur - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#16 - ML - Ragnar Guðmundursson - Age 26 - Hrafninn Knattspyrnufélag - Hús Hrafninn
Here for the option of having wide midfielders rather than making the first team, Justinussen and Guðmundursson are not the fastest winger in the world, but still have a good cross and are tough to get past on the wing provided they're not pushed too far forwards. Which, knowing Magerin, I can't see happening all too often unless a counter-attack is in full swing.

FRONT LINE
#6 - MC - Jón Ragnarsson - Age 28 - Juvapanam (Kagdazka and Pazhujebu) - Hús Hrafninn
#11 - AMC - Ingvar Sigurhelgason - Age 18 - FC Cape St Paul (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Náhvalur
#21 - MC - Skarphéðinn Jóhannsson - Age 30 - RKA Hvalabátum - Hús Náhvalur

#14 - AMC - Oddi Jónatan - Age 26 - Leiknir Reykjanesur - Hvítabjörninn Hús
#15 - MC - Arnljótur Rosenmeyersson - Age 24 - Hreindýrsal Stríðsmaður - Hús Hreindýr
With no wide attackers in the starting lineup, Magerin has opted to play the quick and full of tricks Siguerhelgason through the middle, well away from his favoured left wing. The ever dependable Ragnarsson will harry and dictate pace in the centre of the park, showing the kind of form that caused Juvapanam to sign him up at the start of the other season. Jóhannsson is promoted to the starting lineup as a quirk of formation, whilst Rosenmeyersson is another winger adopted to the centre of the park for the prurpose of counter attack.

STRIKERS
#9 - ST - Vagn Rosenmeyer - Age 22 - Resolute Storm 1913 FC (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hreindýr
#10 - ST - Gunnar Mackenzie - Age 22 - FC Cape St Paul (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Hrafninn
#19 - ST - Jon Dahl Pettersen - Age 27 - FC Fetlar (Polar Islandstates) - Hús Náhvalur
The attack for Bleak Rock is a strong and young one, with new Resolute signing Rosenmeyer the key outlet for attacks and the frequent hero of the side, and young starlet Gunnar Mackenzie - having chosen his Blockhead nationality over his Polarian one after independence was granted - will be looking to show the Terns exactly what they're missing should he have the chance to come on to either partner Rosenmeyer or replace him to us his slightly superior pace to fit into Magerin's masterplan.
