Coach Hugo Caillett gave his final press interview before departing home to Tamarindia, and with great pride praised his young team for their magnificent achievement. What a lovely bowl, he said, so bright and shiny. He was looking forward to getting home and beginning his project to inspire a nation to love babbalo.

After giving due credit to all the opposition his team had encountered in the tournament, he congratulated mighty Darmen for their historic Mcleod Cup victory, stating that he would dedicate his next invented play to them by calling it the

Darmenicanian Something Or Other,

depending on what it actually was. And then he humbly thanked The Babbage Islands for being perfect hosts and organising a hugely enjoyable tournament, and for maintaining something which he called the Mcleod Cup IV for Babbage rules football (complete) NS Sports thread, though no-one at the press conference knew quite what he was talking about and assumed it must have been lost in translation.

Finally he declared that with great impatience he looked forward to Mcleod Cup V.

OOC: Congratulations mighty Darmen for your historic Mcleod Cup victory, and thanks to TBI for organising a hugely enjoyable tournament. Looking forward to Mcleod Cup V!

Congratulations to the new champions and to all who took part.

Expected schedule for Mcleod Cup V:

  • Thread opens for entries and rosters on Friday, September 2.
  • Entries close on Friday, September 9, or sooner if 32 entries have been reached. Draw follows.
  • MD1 scorinates on Tuesday, September 13.
  • Finals day (after three rounds of pool play plus knockouts) is Friday, September 23.

As previously announced, all master nations that competed in Mcleod Cup IV will be entered into Mcleod Cup V without further action unless they have CTEd or opt out. Once we get to a cup of 32 then future Cups will have a provision for dropping automatic re-entry for nations that have not RPed or posted a roster for a certain period of time. The philosophy is still to keep this series low-maintenance, with just six match days per tournament on an every-other-day basis, consistent scheduling, and a high tolerance for the ebb-and-flow of activity.

WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD!

So Darmen was able to defeat Andossa Se Mitrin Vega, 39-19, in the Mcleod Cup IV Final. The Darmen team showed great poise going into the second half, holding ASMV to 0 points in the half. Darmen is now ranked 4th in the world, an improvement over the 6th place ranking we got after our Mcleod Cup III performance. The Darmen Babbage Rules team was welcomed home at Scott City International Airport, and is set to meet with Duke Lyons himself sometime in September. The Darmeni Babbage Rules Federation also announced that starting sometime in 2012, a four or six team Babbage Rules League would be established to help garner more attention to the sport, as well as developing new any young talent. All we can say is that Darmeni Babbage Rules is looking up.
