Summary

A few things to note. First, wtf Malla Gukjei? Your sponsors pour in a bunch of money, recruit some new players, promising talents, and even a new coach, and this is how you repay them? Lose all of your first 6 matches? Yi Cheonsu, he's supposed to be a really good striker, but thanks largely to his inability to even score goals, Malla Gukjei sits dead last. Of course, that's not blame poor defense, and any good defender of SLANI teams might say that they're just getting up some new chemistry under a new manager with new players, but that's BS at this point. They're sitting ducks in the league if they can't find that chemistry soon enough. On the converse, Seoan Gukjei might finally put their old demons to rest, after coming up just short twice in row. Ironically, the only tad bit that their drinkers (i.e. owners) offered the team was a little ray of happy hope that they'll actually win the league. And so far, that little ray of sunshine seems to have done more than a whole range of reshuffling did for Malla Gukjei.

And if you thought that Sanghae had learnt their lessons from last season... well, you're wrong. Whereas they were just bad last season, this season they've improved modestly to earn themselves 4 point from 6 attempts. That win against Gamsuk was just a poo example of how they're still going to struggle - a struggle that's really persisted ever since they sold Kim Daeeui away to Albrecht FC (and look at what wonders he's done over there! hmpf!). You could blame the lack of certain firepower, but with Yi Changdong and An Junggeun doing their fair share of work, you just have to cop the blame to their goalkeeping. Thank goodness, Bong Junho's stuck away at the World Cup! In the meantime, Cheonjin have managed to show off the legacy of Manual Padaria's work that has crafted an efficient machine - one that can win games and comfortably. That they're undefeated alongside Seoan Gukjei is a testament to their strength as a club.

And the randomness gods did choose an awkward way to start Hanseong and Hanseong Gukjei off, right with a derby match. Though HGK did manage to win the match, they've been slightly inconsistent, and thanks to that draw against Taehaeng (among other things), they're just 2 points behind Hanseong, who sit beside Hangyeong on the threshold for TQCC qualification for the Gaeshi-dae. That said, both Hanseong and HGK have made impressive wins, so you can expect that the race for the top between these two clubs will be hot. And you can largely thank the two derby teams for bringing as much excitement to this level - Hanseong and HGK, along with Taehaeng and Seoan GK. Of course, Taehaeng has been lagging in recent seasons, but as it seems to be with every club, there are lag periods. Take Shilla, for example. League winners, and Emperor's Cup champions, they're now sitting at 10th place, just barely above the midtable position and for the moment out of contention for any international or domestic honors. Sure, it's only matchday 6, but that's what they said last season about Sanghae! And look at where they are at now. Not that's it's been tough trying to keep up with their winning ways, but at least they lost away in Seoan - because the riots that would have ensued a Shilla win would have been ginormous. Considering as Seoan Gukjei is sponsored by a drinking company, every occasion involving Shilla tends to devolve into senseless madness which Hell's fury hath not seen.

Anyway, we're lacking in quibbling quibs to offer you, particularly since it's just early days, and I sincerely doubt that you'll get much more from me than this. So have a look instead at our lovely new Season rosters, with matching kits too! This is mostly to assure you that - yes - our players do have clothes, but more so because Hanseong Gukjei was busily annoying us with these calls to send them their kits on time. Some other news that will never come out - Pyeongyang Gukjei traded their star goalkeeper to Sanseo, and miraculously, Sanseo is leading the points in the Majestic Division! They're also leading the division with the least number of goals conceded. I wonder why... And Premier Division jaebeol club FC Samseong sold up their stocks to Hawks Sporting Academy, whereupon the Han Hawks were born. Yes, they're a club side sponsored by a foreign company that doesn't have that stupid Gukjei epithet thingy stuck next to it. Hopefully, this won't mean that Hanseong Gukjei will be opting to change their name to some weird thing about "Rangers" and Seoan Gukjei will decide that it's time to change colors to something more purpure; but it does set up a startling trend - with those jaebeol companies being forced out of the leagues in return for a general IEC compensation regarding sponsorship of the clubs and the leagues. Anyways, who knows how they're doing - Premier Division stuff rarely hits the attention of the masses.

Summary

Okay, so some quick notes. Those four lucky bastards who got the easy ride out were Shilla, Seoan Gukjei, Shimyang, and Hangyeong, all because they qualified for the TQCC. So they missed out the first round, which put up some impressive ties. Prime among those was the 5-0 mauling Seojang served to Seibu. By far, the fans' favorite would have been the Jangsa-Gangso fixtures, only because they don't know the difference between exciting football, and really poor football. In any case, 5-4 was exciting and Gangso fans will be happy to escape the first round. Hanseong uukjei and Pyeongyang Gukjei got their own private fixture, in which elves showed that they were perhaps better managers than Taeshanis. And Sanghae! HOLY CRAP - THEY WON A GAME! Convincingly at that, they mauled the Muslim kids of Muslim FC.

And then Round 2 - OMFG! Sanghae beat Shilla?!?!?! Surely, that's just a freak win, considering the team's domestic record. There's no possible way that Sanghae can actually except people to believe that they're competitive in this whole thing, especially after losing so many matches. Well, we'll see just how this goes out. In the meantime... OMFG! Malla Gukjei is in the Third Round?!? Hardly a surprise, though considering their competition, but it may be the one thing that gets Malla Gukjei a tad bit more confidence for the HD matches to come. Maybe they'll win one of those... maybe not. In any case, Hangyeong had a little scare against Goryeo University, with that match heading in PKs before anything was sorted out. They'll want to be careful with the way that they're playing. Otherwise, they might be inviting trouble down the road. As for Shimyang and Seoan Gukjei, the two of them skipped Round 2, and managed to pull out beginner's luck in facing each other. Yay. Shimyang won the round, thanks to winning the home fixture and scoring that pivotal goal in the away fixture. Round 3 will hopefully be more interesting though.

Summary

Quick notes: OMFG, Malla Gukjei actually won some games! More impressively, they beat out Hangyeong on MDD11 3-1! Of course, that only means that they've moved up two places from dead last to almost dead last. Still, it's encouraging news for the team as they seek to regain some lost honor in their future matches. Sanghae, on the other hand, have been to shoot back up the charts, having scored some important points against top teams. They still lost the city derby, but that's beside the point - Sanghae Gukjei is somehow the better team right now. Actually, what's more impressive is Jikyei - that upstart Majestic Division team that just promoted this season. Yeah, they're second place. How'd they do that? Well, they win, that's how. And although Seoan Gukjei managed a rare loss to Hanseong Gukjei (we really got to stop with this italics stuff), they're still in the lead with a good 5 point cushion from the rest of the lot. But one of the favorites of the round... Shingang managed a good win and 5 good draws. Now, we normally don't care about 0-0 draws (after all, what's the fun in reporting kicking a %$#^ ball?), but Shingang managed to run an impressive streak of almost wins and almost loses stuff, including that thrilling 4-3 win over Taehaeng at home. So how do they do it? Actually, more fittingly, why do they do it? Winning comfortably is certainly going to help retain your fans, but winning so close helps you earn your fans, and Shingang's been doing a lot of that in recent seasons. Watching them play footy is really like watching artists screw up a palette and spend the rest of the painting trying to make it look better, and that's more thrilling than watching a master-piece. After all, a bridge is a bridge; who cares if some Renoir dude drew it?

Anyway, we're nearing the end of the Gaeshi-dae (i.e. Apertura, for you non-Han-savvy people!), and that means people are going to be fighting over those four slots. Most assuredly, Seoan Gukjei will be making a return, but who will be joining them? Shimyang and Shilla, both last seasons top finishers, will be surprisingly missing out, down too far on the tables to have any real chance to try. In contention? Cheonjin and Gwangdong, for their first times in a long time (if ever). And Hanseong, incidentally, holds the record for best performance by a Han club internationally, but those days were back when Han clubs were really topsy-turvy (actually, they still are topsy-turvy quite a bit). Then we have Sanghae Gukjei and Hanseong Gukjei, both recent visitors; and there's almost always Hangyeong in that line-up. But regardless, we'll be watching out for who does qualify, because you know there are some people who'd love nothing more than for some silverware on their cabinets. After all, there's still the IFA Cup too, and there's a long line waiting to see what happens there.

Summary

Okay, so if you thought Rounds 1 and 2 were surprising, wait until you hear who's in the final (like you even need me to say?). In any case, it was a time when Sanghae managed to get everything right at the right time and place, especially that thrilling semifinal tie back at home. Two swift goals in succession literally broke the camel's back, and Cheonjin were without a trophy to show off their impressive form. In the meantime, the other finalist - Hanseong Gukjei - are at the cusp of the chance to win their first major domestic trophy ever. I mean, who'd revel at the chance that these two teams would get into the IFA Cup Final? Oh, and don't mind that drubbing over Gamsuk - that's what comes with the territory (SLANI elves...). Gwangdong, on the other hand, had an impressive resume to show their strengths. Having beaten Hangyeong in the quarterfinals, they almost fell out in Round 3, and only nerves of steel kept them alive against MD-side Daebuk. And despite going down 3-0 in the home fixture, they managed a really impressive late rally thatt almost salvaged them the trophy chance.

But you can't change the facts - Sanghae and Hanseong Gukjei in the Final. Cheers.

Summary

So, we apologize that you're reading this because either you're really bored or you have no life; chances are that you're both bored and have no life. But regardless, we stop momentarily to say that we're very proud of what has happened - namely that we bored away so many people during MD17 and MD18 that MD19 was a really big surprise and a nice way to end the Gaeshi-dae (Apertura, for you non-IFL-savvy people). But thanks to all of those SLANI people changing their routines on us again, the IFA has released this quidbit of ICC qualification stuff out here. So the idea is that the top three finishers in the Heavenly Division get their TQCC slots (since the SLANI organizers got smart and thought that having fewer Han clubs playing in the ICC means less insanity - they may be onto something here...). For the Globe Cup, since they're taking three clubs now, we can now fit that fourth qualifier into the added slot, while the finalists compete over who goes up. Thankfully, those people at Samseong didn't change anything, so SBCC stuff stays the same.

But to bring us up to date. The biggest winner of the round is Seoan Gukjei, who is riding on some really good luck, thanks to Lii Chongsun and his fine brace of strikers. So far, they've been quite a prolific duo, and combined with the most miserly of defenses, they're riding a comfortable 25 GD on 47 points. Their nearest competitor - the protege of the recently departed Manuel Padaria, Cheonjin - have only 35 points, and even that is quite an impressive performance. But Seoan Gukjei really have quite the stalwart force, and they're probably in the best contention for the best showing by a Han club in the ICC. It's only a pity that they're owning by a Starblaydi cohort, largely responsible for the increase in sales of spirits and beverages in the venerable and ancient capital of Jin. Regardless, it's the sort of pomp and circumstance that enlivens a city - even an ancient one - to embrace some of the ignoble traditions of modern society, notably that of supporters' parades and the occasional stampeding of opponents and rivals all the same. Hopefully, we'll have none of that when foreign clubs to make their claim in the TQCC. Cheonjin, on the other hand, are on a good breakthrough, having qualified for the first time in a long time. And Padaria's successor, hardly chosen out yet, is looking to make a good name for himself there. To complete our round-up of TQCC qualifiers, we head south to Sanghae, where the other resident team managed an impressive streak and qualified third over Hangyeong. Indeed, a loss could have spelled a turn back to the Globe Cup, but a steady draw was the one big difference between the two sides, and so SLANI clubs will be heading to the SLANI club cup.

The Globe Cup turns our attention to the other Sanghae club - and the Vanorian outfits in Hanseong Gukjei. It was a memorable journey for both teams, hardly experts but flourishing with lost and seldom appreciated talent. But for Zeph Yan Yin, it's been long years of disappointment. But finally taking the driver's seat as an assistant coach and a player, he's helped Titenburg mold the team into a winning squad. Opposite them is Yi Minseong. Hardly influential, but in his heyday, he once had the team of the century. And then he sold it out to Samseong, practically giving up his talismanic striker, and putting on the widely acknowledged most SLANI goalkeeper to play on any team, Bong Junho. And thanks largely to the World Cup, Sanghae was without his "services" for the majority of the tour. But it seems that Yi's soft spot for the keeper put Bong Junho back into the box, where Hanseong Gukjei profited greatly from his "services", with Hwang Sunheon netting the first goal comfortably in the first half, while Ryo Nakamura managed a devilish turn that all but left the goal exposed. Sanghae's defense tried desperately to turn away the tide, but it was Yi Minseong's failure to recognize that Bong Junho really is a crappy keeper that cost them the final this day. Thankfully, it didn't cost him the Globe Cup spot. But as both Hanseong Gukjei and Sanghae are in the mid-table, Hangyeong is the only beneficiary to join them in the Globe Cup, with the return of Shin Ganyak from the World Cup itself.

And the SBCC... well, what else can we say? With Tad Montague in a relatively good team, Sanseo has a decent chance to progress out of the MD and into the front pages of the HD. They've got the most decent defense, although offense could use some help along the way. They'll qualify along with Hogwang, Armed Forces FC, and Christian FC. And in the limelight, the PD trudges on, with the foreign outfit Han Hawks largely out of contention for anything just yet. But a change of personnel is due, and perhaps a change of fortune too.

Season 11 ::: Pyeiswae-dae

A few managerial things to sort out; we've gotten some confirmations regarding league transfers and such:

Pak Yongho (DF): transferred to Petardos S/A from Gamsuk;
Han Seonseok (Manager): moved in with Atlantas Klaipaada to manage the club, from Hangyeong;
Ioshido Toki (Manager): moved in with Malla Gukjei to manage the club, from the NFT.

Yeah, so Banco Economico decide to pull some strings, and it turns out that long detested man won't be going home after almost winning the World Cup. But to be honest, Ioshido Toki has come a long way since he coached for the Cafundelense side Central United, and he's now considered one of the best coaches in the world for his feats. In other news, the seldom-reported Premier Division had a coach change, with Dmitri Natus coming on for the Han Hawks side that's not doing too shabby, but Somewhereistonian outfitters Hawks Academy felt that the team should be doing better. Anywho...

Summary

So we're in the mood to have a little bit of a surprise. For our part, we'll start at the bottom. Well, Malla Gukjei was the bottom-feeding piece of carp that was them, but then Ioshido Toki came in and... well, they haven't improved much, but they've scored some good wins against hard teams. More critically, Gamsuk is now sitting flat at the bottom, having given up one of their really good play-makers for Cafundelense-outfitters Petardos S/A, nevermind that they're one of the best clubs in the CCFM and they offered a lot of money to Gamsuk for Pak. And Jjambongga... well, they're just riding a bit of some really bad luck. Starting off with a 4-2 thriller, they went home to a 2-1 loss against Shilla before heading out to get WHOMPEd by Hangyeong. But if you were looking for RAWCRUSH, there was hardly any better example than...

Nope, not Seoan Gukjei. Yes, they're the home of RAWRCRUSH, but they weren't playing the part. It was a placid start for the team, despite leading the whole crew by an impressive 10 points still, they had several opportunities to put away the competition beyond all doubt and secure their first league in almost forever. And of course, they are still leading the league, Hangyeong's actually made a severe reverse of fortune - if not that 3-2 loss at home against Gwangdong, then that 1-0 humiliation against Malla Gukjei (losing 1-0 to carp is pretty humiliating for anyone) - only makes Seoan Gukjei's case for the league title stronger, and they're still the most miserly of all clubs in the league. Cheonjin, though, seem to have stolen away the march, with just one goal ahead of Seoan.

And for some more examples of teams falling through the cracks, Shilla seem to have reached their pinnacle as they're still sitting midtable. Dmitri Kim is not the potent goalkeeper/wall that he once was - that man who literally lead Shilla to a great number of championships. But more impressively if Shimyang's fall. Despite having won a number of honors, they've pretty much failed to capitalize on their "good" streaks, and are now scratching their heads trying to figure a way out of this "really bad" streak, before they get relegated. And Jonam... well, they've never really been that good, but then they're never really been that bad either. And this is the real conundrum - how do you manage to concede fewer goals than 50% of the teams in the Division, and still manage to find yourself behind in relegation? The simple answer is that you lack goalscorers, but then for a team that's almost insanely devoted to offense, how the %$#^ do you screw that up? In fact, they have the only Vephrese player not to play in any Gukjei club, and he's actually a decent striker! I'd blame the manager, but then again, they don't really have any other choice, do they?

Anywho, you can read about the Emperor's Cup qualifers, and we'll get started with Round 1 soon enough. Make up your own jokes in the meantime.

Joseon 2-0 Malla
Hanseong 1-2 Haenam
Seojang 1-0 Sandong

Summary

Round 1 was hardly a surprise. Well, actually, there was one surprise. Shaolin FC of the PD won their match-up against Christian FC, and it seems that the two academies will have yet another debate coming about. In the meantime, that same Shaolin FC squad went out and played their hearts out - and beat Hangyeong. I will repeat that - Shaolin FC beat Hangyeong. And not just by a simple margin, but a convincing 2-0 win away. Just goes to prove that there is some certain slump at the big club, and it probably has something to do with the new management, but that's usually an excuse people reserve for something spanking new. Sure, Han Seonseok left the club to go Somewhere, but he's not entirely to blame. The club's been a bit lackluster lately, and it's only been bad news for the club management, as they're still looking to move out of the Gojong stadium and into something less pricey. In the meantime, there were a number of clear upsets in Round 2. Haenam beat Hanseong, thanks largely to a renewed interest in the club by the manager. Yes, miracles can happen. Unfortunately, Cheonjin doesn't get a miracle, losing 2-1 to Hogwang, a team that's not really on a resurgence, but just doing okay.

Now we head on to do our "duh" section. Seoan Gukjei managed a pall 2-1 win over Sanseo. Hardly their usual performance, but Lii Chong-sun's been under a bit of scrutiny ever since some idiot (i.e. n00b) released details somewhere (not in Somewhere) that he was going to coach the NFT. Who? Where? What? When? How? Why? Who knows... all that is certain is that he's looking to replicate Seoan Gukjei's success from last season. Sanghae Gukjei managed a similar pall 1-0 result over Armed Forces FC, and after running on several rounds in the TQCC Qualification, I fully expect Sanghae Gukjei to fall out in the penultimate round (although losing to a bunch of Nethertopians isn't that bad - okay, well, maybe it is). Continuing on, Jikyei couldn't finish the game in time and ended the match 4-2 in extra time against Daebuk. Yes, in the best of times, the ball did cross the line, but Mr. Hurst didn't get your hat-trick in this round. On that remark, it's not a cup final yet. Joseon was the only team to convincingly beat their opponent as a top seed, with a good 2-0 win over Malla. Of course, when you're playing second-rate players from Jonam, you hardly expect anything else. Our final tour takes us to Seojang, where the two-mile-high team beat Sandong simply because they ran out of oxygen. There really should be a rule against playing teams two-miles up, only because it's their main pitch. For crying out loud, they can move the pitch some few kilometers to the east and play in the steaming wet jungles (they'll still run out of oxygen, but for totally different reasons).

And that's Round 1 and Round 2. Next time, we'll see Seoan Gukje spank Hogwang, Shaolin FC realize that they're way in over their heads, and everyone else will be just dandy.

Summary

Ooh, this is precious. Malla Gukjei gets out of the relegation zone. Maybe Ioshido Toki still has some sparkle in him. In other news, Seoan Gukjei managed to break the previous best performance of a club the ICC by actually winning a Second Round fixture in the Globe Cup. Of course, comparatively, they're still no better than Hanseong against Parwood City, but it's still a nice improvement. In other news, Sanghae Gukjei kind blew out all expectations by actually winning all of their qualification and elimination fixtures - except the last one, which sent them to lose out in the Group Stages of the Globe Cup. Nonetheless, we're so proud of them that we decided to mention them. Hey, everyone else is doing it, why can't we? (because we suck at ICC, period)

Anyways, Malla Gukjei got out of relegation, and it was quite a good run. More impressively, Sanghae is just within the top 10. Hard to believe after a performance like last season, but they've made some modest improvements to their game. Hangyeong seemed to recover, and they showed it by besting Sanghae 4-0 and later losing out 1-0 to Gamsuk. Yesh, they'z is topsy-turvy. In any case, the top teams seemed to consolidate their position in an effort to try to unseat the standing winners of the league, who have sat there pretty much since day one of the league. Seoan Gukjei have indeed met some hurdles though, and their lead is back down to just five points now. Yeah, last time we left, they had a ten point cushion. And the time before that was a 12 point cushion. Who knows where they'll end up after 7 more matches?

What? You wanted more? You really want to hear/read my ramblings about non-sense clubs that you could care less about? Yeah, I thought so.

Round 3
Seoan Gukjei 2-2 Hogwang (3-3 AET) (Seoan Gukjei wins 3-0 on PK)
Sanghae Gukjei 0-3 Shaolin FC
Jikyei 0-2 Joseon

Round 4
Seoan Gukjei 1-1 Shaolin FC (AET 2-1)
Joseon 1-3 Seojang

Summary

Very nearly, it could have been the upset of all upsets. The ranking top team of the Heavenly Division against the lowly Shaolin team. I mean, it's been mighty impressive that they've had a wonderful season, but could they really pull off a majestic win against what is probably the best team so far this season? I mean, let's consider the options. Seoan Gukjei has been struggling as of the recent matches. Their Round 3 fixture against MD-side Hogwang was only encouraging in that they won it, nevermind the sloppy extra time affair that forced the PK shoot-out. They've steadily conceded the lead at the top, ranging from at best 12 points, now back to just 5 points. Meanwhile, Shaolin have been riding an excessively wonderful campaign, with their youngsters learning the ways of martial and football perfection. One person in particular - Go Songji - has been instrumental so far, generating a good number of attacks himself (from the back, at that). He scored twice in the encounter against Sanghae Gukjei and set up the assist for the third goal with Yun Jeongeun. And his antics against Hangyeong were equally sublime. But I suppose he still has much to learn - what, failing against the top ranked team in the league so far. I mean, it'll do wonders for him once he finds a really, really, really good team. And who knows, he might feature at the next DBC?

Anyway, Seoan Gukjei scrape on towards the Emperor's Cup Final, without either Shilla or Hangyeong to stop them. And they face a resilient Seojang side that has been convincing pundits that they might have a chance to win this thing. They've managed some good wins ahead of the Emperor's Cup Final, and so to speak, this will be their first real chance at getting silverware that really means a whole lot internationally (yes, they won the Majestic Division twice in a row, but can they really be all that good?). In any case, defeating a resurgent Joseon team was just one of the recent calls to attention. That they've fallen down in the tables is worth some concern.

Anyway, you'd be damned to give away the title to Seoan Gukjei right now...

Summary

This is going to be one those days, ain't it so? Anyways, it's a tale of two cities, and by two cities, I really mean three of them, but it's all the same in some twisted novel. The first two cities would have to be Seoan and Hanseong. As the only two cities with more than one representative in the Heavenly Division, they've got a lot to go on. And in years past, it was Hanseong that perhaps had the shinier star. True - Seoan was the historic, esteemed capital, with more devout followers, but Hanseong had the silverware (specifically in the outfit not owned by those Vanorians). But with Hanseong Gukjei's first piece of silverware, it seems inevitable that there will be much to fight for between those two teams. In any case, Hanseong - for all of its prior glory and galore - looks unconvincing compared to Dwier Titenberg's side. The latest in the humiliations was that MD31 fixture which saw the Vanorians steal away a 3-1 win, to pretty much keep Hanseong itself in the relegation-threat zone. Of course, who really believes that Hanseong will relegate anyway? On the other hand, Taehaeng has seen its fair share of triumphs over their international partners, despite perennially failing to impress in the League at large. In fact, it was MD36 when the frequently-termed other team from Seoan managed a rout 3-0 win over their city rivals. But quite like their Hanseong friends, they sit low in the tables, hardly a threat to anyone.

The next two cities in the countdown - Seoan and Cheonjin. Yes. Manuel Padaria might be gone, but his influence has left the club with some star-studded performances this season, and they've been catching up on the block, left and right. And finally, it came to MD37. It really shouldn't have come down to this, but with Cheonjin really catching up on the block, it really did matter. What made matters worse was the fact that Cheonjin was visiting Seoan. Yeah, that's right. A critical match involving a booze-selling conglomerate and its sponsored club, facing against that very reason the fans are so unnerved these past few weeks. It hurt fellow Seoan-folk when they played just one match prior against Taehaeng and lost, but they really should have had the edge. That edge was seriously missing, as Lii Hyo-jin, Nakamura, and Gang Inseok really failed to impress many people at home. And Lii Chong-sun really failed to flatter the fans, as the team fell out 2-1 losers to Cheonjin. And suddenly, Cheonjin were at the top.

At this point, we'd love to do that CMSC thingy where they do the last matchday live, but seeing as the matches have come and gone already, it'd be really insulting to our international viewers to pretend it was live. Of course, nothing stops us from actually trying, so here goes...

MD38... err... thingy...

Pre-match stuff. Just to get you guys in the spirit of reading cheap imitations, you'll be watching Shimyang at Sanghae, Hangyeong at Gwangdong, Gamsuk at Hanseong, Joseon at Shingang, Seojang at Jikyei, Shilla at Hanseong (Gukjei), Seoan (do I really have to say it?) at Malla (Gukjei), Taehaeng at Sanghae (Gukjei), Wunnam at Cheonjin, and Jjambongga at Jonam. For those of you lacking any sense of geography, Hanseong and Sanghae will both be traffic nightmares as really big clubs take to the streets. Fortunately, Sanghae can probably handle the load - Hanseong, I would rather doubt it. Malnira - shortened for us Han folk, Malla - will be playing out one half of a interesting set-up, although Cheonjin are really in the driving seat. They currently hold a 2 point cushion over Seoan Gukjei, with 70 and 68 points respectively. In other matches, Hanseong will be hoping for an escape from relegation danger against Gamsuk, but with their opponents already in the hole, this really is a matter of pride. And Gamsuk have been known to play for pride on previous occasions. Anyways... you'd be crazy to call anything at this point... and... woops, matches already out and running...

3' - Chance for Cheonjin to put this whole numbers game beyond doubt goes wide, as Insaki Roma blasts a shot wide by Jang Yanggyu. And in Bojeong, Jikyei have taken the pivotal lead against Seojang - 1-0 thanks to a superb effort by Kim Juseong.

5' - This is going to get boring after a while.

6' - Either boring or really really hectic, depending on the number of goals scored.

10' - Thankfully, not to many minutes wasted before Jikyei send up the scoreline 2-0. At least someone's got their game face. Dorian Sonja, that fossil from Demot (or rather) manages to score the second goal, and Kim Jiwun might have this game out beyond all doubt.

11' - Didn't have to wait much longer before Sanghae got on the scoreboard. Yi Haksaeng really had no answer for An Junggeun, who played a great pass up from Kim Daegeon. It was in the back of the net before he knew it.

12' - WTF? Who told these kids that now was a good time to start scoring goals? Anyways, I'll try to do this in as economic a time I can afford. Gamsuk make out with a surprise start, with Pak Gyuseon scoring the first in a long time. Elsewhere in the Daebo affair, Jonam scores their first goal, coming straight off a corner. It was a well-deserved goal for Jonam, who'd owned the ball certainly, and played for pretty much every single chance on goal. Finally, the Rennidan striker - Selet Loek - managed to pull a great header up and over the goalkeeper. By rare chance, it hit the goalpost - as if it was a tradition now - but Loek had the equally (if not more so) rare chance to get the rebound in the net. Meanwhile, Joseon openings the scoring game with a sweet shot from outside the box by Kim Yongshim. Once hailed as the next Kim Eunjung, he's been burdened by a relatively flat period in his life that managed to correspond to some relatively flat periods for Joseon at large. And to top off the list of goal scorers this turn around, Shimyang scores a tying goal. And before you ask questions - I only have one thing to say - Bong Junho. Not to suggest that Mark Powell's shot wasn't worth the effort, but an infant could score on Bong Junho.

13' - OOH, that would have been a killer. Seoan Gukjei are playing for dear life, and Juscysk nearly capitalizes on a break in the defensive line. And if you had binoculars, you'd probably see every vein popping on Lii Chong-sun's head. Boy, that was scary.

16' - Just a reminder for youz people, we're still goalless in Gwangju, Cheonjin, Malnira, as well as for the HSGK - Shilla, SGGK - Taehaeng matches. Oh wait, nvm...

17' - Seol Gihyeon just scored for Taehaeng. Figures...

24' - zOmFG!!! These kids really know how to pick a time to be prolific.... you know what, I GIVE UP!!!

Emperor's Cup Final
Round 5
Seoan Gukjei 1-0 Seojang
64' - Nakamura GOAL!

And with an emotional cup final, coming off the boot of veteran Starblaydii Batou Nakamura, it's the first ever double for Seoan Gukjei, not to mention the first time actually winning the League as well as their second time winning the Emperor's Cup. Who'd thought that they'd have the resilience to hold out? Well, they didn't really have the resilience to hold out, but once behind, they made up by making a relatively extraordinary ordeal out of their final chance to actually the whole damned thing, and thanks to Cheonjin's final slip-up against Wunnam, the trophy goes to Seoan for the first time of potentially many times to come. Sure, Taehaeng might be the better club in the city, but Seoan Gukjei has that big cup thingy sitting in their stadium. Anyways, it's been a big season for Seoan Gukjei, who now bid good-bye and farewell to their long-time coach/manager/father-like-figure as he goes off to coach the Han NFT. Yes, that's right - the IFA have hired a Starblaydii, and it's all downhill from here. At least he does press conferences though...

Anyways, it's an unconfirmed rumor saying that Cha Beomgeun can be bugged out of retirement and coach Seoan Gukjei. And you all know how rumors run...

Anyways, it Group Draw time!

This is yet another reminder to all those folks interested in the IFL for their own reasons whatsoever, Season 13 is expected to start up on time by Jan 1st, so if you have players/clubs that you would like to manage (another reminder that all foreign players from Season 12 either returned home or simply died/retired), please email (daehanjeiguk@gmail.com) or contact me on IRC (tgs not preferred but if you gotta talk...) to validate your information. All IFL clubs can be fitted with 11 starters (duh), 7 reserve, and up to 30 random other players, a handsome staff of some 8 coaches (I'm on the phone so I can't validate that info precisely now), stadium info (only for clubs owned/sponsored by foreigb corporate entities), and club staff (again, for foreign owned clubs only).

This little disclaimer: this thread for domestic results for the Han Empire (because I have a super-inflated ego and need my own thread to pile on this junk somewhere...); all other domestic results should be posted in your own thread or the International Domestic Soccer Newswires thread. If you post here with your own domestic results, I will hunt your heads for Christmas, Kwanza, and some random bloodthirsty Aztec holiday. Don't tell me I didn't warn you.

Just so I can post this in one place and be done with it:

I need the following information from people who own/support/something clubs in the IFL:

11 starters, 7 bench, 6 coaches (manager, assist, gk, df, mf, st), 4 chairpeople (chairman, d FA, d Pub, Scout), 20 reserves, and stadium information (name, capacity).

Also, please contact me via email (daehanjeiguk@gmail.com), IRC (#nssport), or TG for any updates; please avoid to the utmost posting in this thread, as I try to keep it as clean as possible.

Season 13 finally begins and there's been a lot of activity to get things finally underway. As many of you should know by now, things have been a little troublesome in the land of the Han, so the fact that we're getting anything done is quite a marvelous achievement. And whereas I'd normally be inclined to add in a few tidbits about the League in general, I'm not feeling very well, so here's your wonderful Season Preview.

And with this post, Transfers and Sales are now Closed for the IFL Apertura (with some exceptions).

Transfers

Agin Kal from Fedala Imperials (MAC) to Cheonjin FC.
Aldir from União Trabalhadora to Haegu Taepung.

Stadium: Director Santa Stadium [cap. 80000] Malnira, Jonam
Manager: Ioshido Toki (CAF)
Chairman: Cerva Pinguço
Sponsor: Banco Economico
History: Kapundae FC come around as the heirs of the Banco Economico-owned outfit Malla Gukjei, despite neither Banco Economico accepting this claim nor the locals being particularly "Cafundelense". Notwithstanding the even longer connection to their history, they've won only one trophy - the HD Promotional Play-off - and they'd really like to add more.
Last Season: This prrrace rrreserrrrrrrrved forrr rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrent.
Expectations: To surrrvive imminent rawsuits frrrom the rrrorrrrrring arrrrr's, and maybe the reague too.

Gohan Monggol 高汗蒙古 - 고한몽골
Line-up: Choe Min-Dae; Wang Dong-Eun, Kim Dae-Gyu, Yi Han-In, Choe Seok-Gi; Song Jin-Jong, Wang Min-Song, Shin Jang-Gi, Kim Yeol-Gyeong; Jang Gi-Min, Go Cheon-Jae
Bench: Kim Gwang-Yeon; Han Hwan-Seung, Wang Nam-Bae; Kim Hyeon-Jin, Hui Yeom-Su; Pak Yang-Man
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Hwateuk, Monggol
Manager: Kim Sam-Mi (HAN)
Chairman: Yi Il-Hwan
Sponsor:
History: Gohan Monggol began as NFL-founding members Monggol FC; after the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity, the club emerged with an intent to break into a new mold and casting off old expectations to promote out of the 2nd and 3rd tiers of football. The club has yet to win any significant trophies.
Last Season: Considering as this is the first season since the Gyeimyo Calamity, you shouldn't be reading this section. Move on.
Expectations: With an unimpressive team history, Gohan Monggol will be looking to make due with this opportunity to establish themselves firmly in the top flight. A win would be nice too.

Gwangju FC 廣州FC - 광주FC
Line-up: Jang Hwan-In; Shin Seung-Gwang, Wang Hwan-Gwang, Choe Gi-Hong, Gi Su-Sei; Petros Zaimis, Pak Sang-Nam, Yi Ah-Hi, Yi Bae-Hwa; Kim Gihyeon, Go Gyu-Dong
Bench: Kim Hun-Il; Kim Yeong-Yang, Yim Dok-Beom; Jang Kwan-Kwan, Kim Min-Hwa; Jang Hwa-Gang
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Gwangju, Gwangjeon
Manager: Yi Cheol-Sei (HAN)
Chairman: Pak Ha-Gang
Sponsor:
History: Gwangju FC began as NFL-founding members Gwangdong FC; although their first years were celebrated as unprecedented and historic, the team has failed since to win any major trophies. It's really a matter of time before they get themselves stamped on another cup, but for the past 8 years, it's been heartbreaks. You'd be a fool to expect anything else.
Last Season: Ditto. Move along.
Expectations: With a storied (though ancient) history, they'll hope for a top spot in the league. Otherwise, the heartbreak might be a bit too much to ask.

Malla Yeonhap 馬拉聯合 - 말라연합
Line-up: Yi Mi-Tae; Wang Yeom-Gang, Choe Shin-Dok, Choe Gyo-Chang, Wang Ho-Hyei; Yi Nam-Hun, Jang Gi-Dong, Pak Gyeong-Il, Go Deok-Shin; Choe Chang-Man, Son Jun-Il
Bench: Yeom Cheon-Gil; Jang Jin-Yong, Choe Hwan-Hun; Jeong Il-Gi, Wang Dae-Gang; Pak Hwan-Gyo
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Malnira, Jonam
Manager: Yi Yong-Gil (HAN)
Chairman: Kim Jin-Sei
Sponsor:
History: Malla Yeonhap began as NFL-founding members Malla FC; like so many others, the club has failed to win any major trophies.
Last Season: Why are you even reading this?
Expectations: Stayin' Alive! Stayin' Alive!

Sanghae Yeonhap 上海聯合 - 상해연합
Line-up: Go Shin-Cha; Yi Seung-Seong, Pak Chang-Ha, Choe Man-Sun, Yi Gang-Yeom; Pak Hyei-Ah, Wang Yeong-Sam, Yi Son-Shin, Son Hwan-Han; Pak Sang-Gil, Wang Bae-Jang
Bench: Gang Gyu-Dong; Kim Dae-Sang, Yi Mi-Weon; Kim Seung-Dae, Shin Yong-Seok; Song Ji-Suk
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Sanghae, Gangso
Manager: Shin Gyu-San (HAN)
Chairman: Choe Sei-Ae
Sponsor:
History: Sanghae Yeonhap began as NFL-founding members Sanghae FC; the club has emerged from the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity with every expectation to add to their storied trophy cabinet (not unlike the Sorthern trophy cabinet, mind you - unless they've added another one since we've been away). Despite this "poor" showing, Sanghae had been a perennially threatening club (minus the utter incompetence of Bong Junho), and Sanghae Yeonhap hopes to fulfill in some part this grand tradition.
Last Season: If you read this, teacups will rain from the sky.
Expectations: Win another trophy, %$#^

Sanghae Haetae 上海獬豸 - 상해해태
Line-up: Dorothea Obermaie; Matthew Ellis, Yûn Gûn-suŋ, Roy Smith; LeRoy Franklin, Hoŋ Hoŋ-hyi, Gwaŋ Gwon-san, Cwe Il-pil, Im Sug-myuŋ; Jason Bailey, Giorgos Malamas
Bench: Lyû Son-gĭn; Christiane Schenke, Son Si-sam; Rosemary Turner, Euaggelos Turner; Gaŋ Hoŋ-hûn
Stadium: C4 Stadium Sanghae [cap. 64984] Sanghae, Gangso
Manager: Hoŋ Si-gûn (HAN)
Chairman: Jeanne English
Sponsor: C4
History: Sanghae Haetae continue as previously (or not) C-4 owned club. The truth is that we don't know if this will work out (read others below), but this club claims to be the product of the Sanghae Gukjei club, and for their part, they'll hope to add a trophy to their collection of interesting cobwebs and evil dust bunnies (who conveniently sit next to the silver medal for that Emperor's Cup that wasn't).
Last Season: This place for rent.
Expectations: Survive the possible lawsuits from freaky business suits with people (maybe?) inside of them, and maybe the league as well.

Seoan Bulsajo 西安不死鳥 - 서안불사조
Line-up: Yi Gyeong-Sun; Shin In-Cha, Yi Min-Sang, Go Jin-Cheol, Son Tae-Gyeong; Pak Seong-Yeong, Tritor Maníac, Yi Gil-Hong, Han Su-Ha; Jung Ji-Young, Jang Ju-Kwan
Bench: Kim Hong-Dae; Kim Dok-Gwang, Yi Sei-Uk; Song Ah-Du, Song Hyeon-Il; Shin Seong-Su
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Seoan, Jungjeon
Manager: Yi Yeong-Pyo (HAN)
Chairman: Kim Yi-Eun
Sponsor:
History: Seoan Bulsajo began as NFL-founding members Taehaeng FC; taking inspiration from the ancient and storied city, the club has vowed to outdo their drunken adversaries from across town by actually winning the IFA Cup (among others). They have yet to do so.
Last Season: Stop reading this!
Expectations: To outdo their cross-town rivals.

Seoan Cheonma 西安天馬 - 서안천마
Line-up: This person chose not to submit a roster
Bench:This person chose not to submit a roster
Stadium: ??? [cap. ###] Seoan, Jungjeon
Manager: This person chose not to submit a roster
Chairman: This person chose not to submit a roster
Sponsor: This person chose not to submit a roster
History: Seoan Cheonma are the heirs of Orcinus-owned outfit Seoan Gukjei, who were among the most successful new clubs to join the league before the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity. Pending declarations from Orcinus and Starblaydia at large, the club hopes to add to the success by winning a domestic treble one day (damned IFA Cup, losing the final twice!), but they've got a nice trophy cabinet otherwise.
Last Season: Have a drink!
Expectations: To win something.

Shilla FC 新羅FC - 신라FC
Line-up: Kim Yang-Du; Yi Shin-Chan, Choe Nam-Yeom, Seo Myeong-Ha, Shawn Loughran; Shin Mi-Deok, Yi Seung-Yang, Wang In-Dong, Kim Cha-Tae; Kim Dong-Suk, Jeong Seung-Suk
Bench: Yi Sun-Myeong; Choe Sun-Il, Sang Cha-Gyo; Andy Durham, Yi In-Jin; Yeom Chang-Shik
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Busan, Joseon
Manager: Shin Eun-Gyeong (HAN)
Chairman: Pak Sang-Du
Sponsor:
History: Shilla FC is one of the few clubs to emerge from the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity unscathed, both in name and in prestige. They are one of two teams to have won the domestic double, and will be hoping to continue their HD campaign flawlessly.
Last Season: Season 12 was so long ago, and I'm pretty sure they're willing to forget about it.
Expectations: To win something. Or at least beat Seoan Cheonma into the dirt.

Shimyang FC 瀋陽FC - 심양FC
Line-up: Wang Kwan-Yeol; Escória, Song Gang-Cheon, Pak Jae-Myeong, Yi Hyeon-Kwan; Yi Tae-Eun, Praxis Nikolaidis, Yi Man-Su, Choe Yun-Wan; Song Su-Jung, Jeong Seok-Hwa
Bench: Gi Hwa-Seok; Song Gang-Yeong, Seo Weon-In; Song Son-Hwang, Kim Han-Hi; Song Seong-Jae
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Shimyang, Manju
Manager: Yi Gil-Sam (HAN)
Chairman: Yi Gang-Mi
Sponsor:
History: Shimyang FC is one of the few clubs to emerge unscathed from the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity unscathed, both in name and in prestige. They have won the IFA Cup only once, but they have an impressive history nonetheless, as one of the few newer teams with outstanding records in the IFL.
Last Season: Season 12 was so long ago, and I'm pretty sure they're willing to forget about it.
Expectations: Stay in the league, and win something maybe.

Yeonseong FC 燕城FC - 연성FC
Line-up: Wang Yeol-Ha; Yi Jung-Deok, Han Han-In, Wang Gyeong-Ji, Jang Hun-Dong; Kim Yong-Jae, Choe In-Jong, Shin Seok-Gyo, Go Shin-Dong; Sang Gi-Min, Choe Weon-Yun
Bench: Yi Beom-Hyei; Wang Nam-Dong, Shin Su-Su; Kim Gang-Hyei, Choe Gyo-Cheon; Wang Gyeong-Ae
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Yeonseong, Jungjeon
Manager: Choe Sei-Hi (HAN)
Chairman: Yi Nam-Yun
Sponsor:
History: Yeonseong FC began as NFL-founding members Hangyeong FC. After the virtual destruction of Hangyeong during the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity, the city was abandoned as the capital and renamed as Yeonseong, recalling its status as the capital of the Yeon Kingdom (from a long time ago). Despite the sudden and drastic loss of club resources, history is enough to show that the club is in its own right very successful and renowned, having won 7 major trophies, and at a time looked to be the best internationally performing club (only because they were always playing internationally). But only time will tell if Yeonseong is able to replicate its historic successes.
Last Season: Last year, there was a crater at their stadium. This year, they've moved out and are now looking for a bigger and better-looking crater.
Expectations: Do something miraculous.

Yeiseong Yeonhap 禮城聯合 - 예성연합
Line-up: Pak Hyeon-Kwan; Wang Oh-Han, Kim Jeong-Yeong, Yang Jang-Man, Yi Hwan-Ok; Yim In-Gyeong, Kim Son-Wan, Shin Yong-Jin, Wang Min-Gil; Bong Seung-Seok, Sang Deok-Yeol
Bench: Yang Yeol-Ju; Kim Deok-Gang, Yi Hyei-Gyu; Shin Cha-Hi, Yi Cha-Beom; Go Jong-Gyu
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Yeiseong, Joseon
Manager: Yi Hwan-Jung (HAN)
Chairman: Pak Jeong-Yun
Sponsor:
History: Yeiseong Yeonhap began as NFL-founding members Hanseong FC. While Hanseong was one of the city left unharmed in the Gyeimyo (4720) Calamity, the reshuffling of the government forced the new ministers to rename Hanseong as Yeiseong (from the "Han" city to the "Virtuous" City). As a result, the club owners decided to follow suit with their own name change. And with just one trophy in their cabinet, they'll be hoping that there's some luck going with that.
Last Season: Last season, Jimmy picked boogers from his nose. We'll see if he can do one better this season.
Expectations: Survive long enough to become established once again.

Yongsan FC 龍山FC - 용산FC
Line-up: Areyon Faelandaerl; Melglirdornen, Aerwelelon Orvathar, Merimoran Orvathar; Yi Gil-Yeol, Velerithdil, Hérion Lanlithdar , Seo Gyeong-Ju, Mádhudil Aerasumé; Suiawë Feldireth , Yi Kwan-Wan
Bench: Vandiriel Runerethor; Adandur Narendseer, Bellbellaon Aldvathar; Pak Son-Du, Neurthal Toraloththir, Thanadhamnen Rundilinseer
Stadium: [cap. 10000] Yeiseong, Joseon
Manager: Zeph Yan Yin (VAL)
Chairman: Nessana Runtathina
Sponsor: Viella
History: Yongsan FC are the unconfirmed heirs of the Vanorian Viella-owned outfit Hanseong Gukjei, and unlike their cross-town rivals, they opted to name themselves for the name of their location (incidentally, Yongsan). With that said, they'll be looking add another trophy to their cabinet this season, after a rather successful Season 12 (so long ago).
Last Season: Season 12 was such a great thing - why did it have to end?

Expectations: To survive.

Majestic Division

Jonam Jigante 朝南支幹台 - 조남지간태
History: Some of you probably forgot that FC LG sold their club to some chap from the Candelarias to make up a new club Jonam Jigante; the only reason we know is because we forgot. And with a fresh club in the market, you can best that things will fly.
Last Season: Maybe they'll do something special and fly away home?
Expectations: Survive the new league and maybe make a name for themselves.

Goguryeo FC 高句麗 FC - 고구려 FC
History: Goguryeo FC, formerly Pyeongyang Gukjei, still owned by SLANI Tae-Mart, and not looking anywhere happy. They've got a roster filled with Taeshani people, and so it's going to be interesting to see just exactly how the fans react to this team (again).
Last Season: Carrots and Peas!
Expectations: To get some enthusiastic fans by perhaps winning some silverware.

Seobanya FC 西班牙 FC - 서반야 FC
History: Seobanya FC - now that riles up some harsh memories of the Spanish Empire way back in the 45th century, but to be fair, everyone from that era is now dead. And with that, some people feel obliged to honor their ancestry by creating a club in their name. Let's just hope that they don't go about making a Taegalog FC in the future...
Last Season: DNE
Expectations: Not to CTE

Seoan Eumyang 西安陰陽 - 서안음양
History: Does Seoan really need another club? Apparently these people do, as they've created yet another ambitious creation - the Eumyang… whatever that is supposed to be (Eum-yang is the Han Yin-Yang). And now that they've done it, they're going to want to revolutionize the face of the IFL. Not bloody likely.
Last Season: Come on, this is a new club? What do you need? SEX?
Expectations: To be as balanced on the field as they are in name.

Gohan Toki 高汗土其 - 고한토기
History: Well %$#^ that, the Turks made their own club now. And they're calling themselves "Gohan" too.
Last Season: They used to be a great snooker team.
Expectations: To be a great football team too.

Yonghae Seulaba 龍海瑟喇巴 - 용해슬라바
History: Yonghae Seulaba (i.e. Yonghae Slava) are made up of those random Russkie people living in Manju province (nevermind how they got there in the first place), and they decided that they deserved their own team. Well bloody good for them.
Last Season: They used to be a great snorkeling team. Honest.
Expectations: To be better than the Turks.

Gohan Weonguk 高汗元國 - 고한원국
History: WTF? The non-Han-now-Han-once-more Weonguk Monggols want their own club? Just because they join the Empire doesn't mean that they get to do whatever the blooming hell they'd like! And just to prove it, they'll have their little club, but they won't win anything.
Last Season: They used to be a part of their own country before the Mujeongbu took it all away. Now… they're part of our country :P.
Expectations: To be the best in our country.

Daejeon FC 大田 FC - 대전 FC
History: Daejeon FC - one of those clubs not to change their name - are a really SLANI club. And I'm not saying that they're owned by those Capitalizt SLANI - they're just horrible. And they still want to be the best professional club around?
Last Season: Last time they were straddling that fine line between mediocrity and uber-mediocrity.
Expectations: To straddline some other line of mediocrity.

Hapbin FC 哈濱 FC - 합빈 FC
History: They used to be Manju FC - then Manju Province got reformed, and now they have to change their name (just like all of those other Provincial teams). The good news is that they can focus on being good for their respective city and hope that everyone else still likes them (not likely).
Last Season: SLANI
Expectations: To be better than SLANI.

Bokju FC 福州 FC - 복주 FC
History: They used to be Bokgeon - then Bokgeon got merged with Gangso to make some super province, but they still have to change their name. Now the "Lucky Region" is the "Lucky Land", but they're still in need of plenty more luck.
Last Season: %$#^
Expectations: To be better than %$#^.

Daebuk FC 臺北 FC - 대북 FC
History: The two Daeman clubs have not changed one bit. Except who's on the club and whatnot.
Last Season: They were better than Daenam.
Expectations: To stay better than Daenam.

Daenam FC 臺南 FC - 대남 FC
History: The two Daeman clubs have not changed one bit. Except who's on the club and whatnot.
Last Season: They were worse than Daebuk.
Expectations: To become better than Daebuk.

Namgyeong Songhan 南京宋漢 - 남경송한
History: We were going to form our own little club, but those Nethertopians decided to spoil the party and buy the club. And now they're forcing us to wear these ugly green and orange jerseys (made in Nethertopia no doubt)! Is there no justice in the world? Ooh, money? Sure!
Last Season: They were once nothing; they are now more than just nothing.
Expectations: To become even more than nothing.

Muhan Yeonhap 武漢聯合 - 무한연합
History: Formerly Hogwang FC, the capital city has created a "United" club, and good for them. Because they'll need some sense of unity (if only in name) to get through the 2nd tier.
Last Season: They were once in the 3rd tier. Now they're in the 2nd tier by grace of whoever wrote these divisions.
Expectations: To stay in the 2nd tier. Hopefully. Maybe. Possibly. Probably not.

CD Sungsan 嵩山体育 - 숭산체육
History: Officially Clube Deportivo de Sungsan, they're the start-up Sports club of the Han Empire, essentially the descendant club of the original Academy club Shaolin FC (they still have that, tbh). And with the Shaolin monks going out to become the dominant force in sports, it's virtually impossible to figure out their club tactics, especially as they all share pretty much the same names.
Last Season: Clube Deportivo? Are they trying to turn Spanish?
Expectations: To be the best of the best of the best of the best, before they reach enlightenment.

Hayan Horangi - 하양 호랑이
History: Ousevale started up a "feeder" club sometime last season, buying up one of those jaebeol clubs (btw, jaebeol are prohibited from sponsoring any one club, but they're entitled to equally sponsor them through the league :P). And as a result, we really don't know what those crazy Krytenians will do. In the meantime, have some rib stew.
Last Season: Erm… yeah, you go ahead and write this section for me.
Expectations: To avoid become a white paper tiger.

Jangsa FC 長沙 FC - 장사 FC
History: Jangsa FC, one of those clubs not to change names, is still down in the dumps, but they've done better in the past. Nothing in their trophy cabinet to show it (they don't even have a cabinet).
Last Season: You shouldn't want to look in here.
Expectations: To win something.

Seibu FC 世夫 FC - 세부 FC
History: Seibu FC - one of those clubs not to change their names (and why should they? they're some SLANI club off way on their other side of the Empire, stuck on their own metropolitan island with not even a tropical paradise to claim for themselves…) - has clearly seen better days. And to be fair, they won't see them anytime in the near future.
Last Season: Last time, they weren't in the second division.
Expectations: They'll want to stay here.

Daebo FC 大報 FC - 대보 FC
History: Daebo FC - another of those clubs not to change their name (and why should they? they're some SLANI club stuck on the bottom of the Empire, stuck on their tropical paradise island with but one major city to claim for some sense of civilization…) - has also seen better days. And to be fair, they'll probably do better than Seibu FC (they're regional rivals, y'know).
Last Season: They've had better days.
Expectations: To do one better than Seibu FC - whatever that might be.

Han Hawks FC 韓鷹FC - 한응FC
History: Han Hawks are a relatively new team; they had a line-up for Season 13 before the Calamity, but it seems that they all returned back to Somewhereistonia for a wonderful time there. Time will tell if the new incarnation is just as good as the old one.
Last Season: #N/A
Expectations: To get something on their last season sticker besides a fancy XLS error sign.

MD1

With nothing better to do, we've decided to do the one thing that makes us happy: getting custard pie. When that failed, we tried scorinating IFL results and that seems to do the job much better. Reviewing our latest Season 13 line-up, we noticed many tpyoes, notably the one where virtually every team is playing 10,000 capacity stadia around the country when they're clearly not (you might have noticed that last of the bench players was cut-off from each of the rosters). Lest you be alarmed, these have been fixed (to the malaise of some of our plucky correspondents). Nonetheless, we've also had a run at some 1093 editions of the first matchday before figuring out that these scores are really out of whack (the average score being a plucky 7-5 and the lowest draw on average being a thrilling 4-4 encounter). So fixing all of those problems with out goalkeepers, we're now ready to show you really happened on MD1.

And so, a number of things started up. First of all, you have that wonderful Seoan Gukjei-Hanseong Gukjei rivalry up and running on the first match, with the predecessor Yongsan FC taking the first prize. With a line-up stacked with elves against a line-up that... isn't quite complete yet... you could be sure that the result would be out of doubt, but it took an hour for the Vanorians to pick away at the stocky defense being put up. And in general, it wasn't a good day for Seoan, as both of their teams lost at home. Seoan Bulsajo, taking stock with a bunch of foreigners, failed to impress against Oreum FC, who brought precisely no one. Still, the contest was fair enough that everything finished in the first 45 minutes, with enough time to spare for an afternoon nap.

Speaking of afternoon nap, a trip over to Joseon and Manju would reveal a brace of tidy 0-0 draws that seemed to lack the sort of character expected of either Shilla FC (who are still Shilla FC) or Hangyeong FC (who are now Yeonseong FC, because they nuked the capital, remember? oh right, you don't know that yet...). In any case, those were in fact thrilling 0-0 draws that would have brought tears to a Yaforite. Fortunately, we don't have Yaforites playing in the league, so no tears need apply.

To be fair, it's still early in the season (it's only the first day!), so results like these will hardly matter, unless you're one of those unlucky teams to lose something on a fraction of a point lost today. But regardless, you can say that the playing was well played today, with many teams putting on comfortable performances despite the slender scorelines (1-0 is very popular now...). The one other match that ended 2-1 was in Malnira, where Cafundelense side Kapundae pushed away in the final minutes. It was perhaps unbecoming of a team devoted to offensive power, but that they pulled away with a win at all against a stocky defense was impressive in any case.

We'll skip around some more to our solitary 1-1 draw at Sanghae, where the SLANI conglomerate took forever trying to email their updated club rosters, after threatening to sue the club into bankruptcy and to ensure otherwise that the club would never again play in any tournament beyond the Han Empire (UICA, they mentioned). In the end, they managed to get a 1-1 draw with Joseon, thanks to a goal in the final 10 minutes. But for our other winning clubs, it's Cheonjin that steals away the biggest prize for the latest goal, scoring one in the very dying moments to snatch all three points from Malla Yeonhap (all of this while they're facing hostile attention from the home crowd). It was probably a good day to be a Cafundelense.

Oh boy, we've written too much.

If we've gotten everything all right, this should be the only thing that separates us from the lazy bastards and the rich posh-like characters who sit up in their own estates and watch their vastless minions slave over their work. In this case, our sense of the commonality of work done by "average" folk is quite trivial, hence why the notion of us mentioning it should provoke you as baffling, especially as the past two sentences (including this one) should make absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Success!

But just in case you came to read something sensible, it's the second match, and yes - our moon does 12 perfect revolutions in 360 perfect days, making 12 perfect months of 30 perfect days each, which also means that our perfect sun permits our perfect earth to complete a perfect year in just 360 perfect days, as it so says on NSwiki page, so stop bugging us! The reason why we comment on that is because it's been one week since our first matches, and right now you can just see the wonderful tension emerge on the fields as teams compete for the top few spots in the first few matches. Not that it's going to matter much, with Han teams almost perennially sucking at them UICA (weren't ICC a few years back? right...) competitions and whatnot - it seems that one distinction that our clubs do get is worst group stage record (enter Hangyeong FC), and we're not even the best at being the worst. *sigh*

But one can dream.

Anyway, it was a goal fest in Yeiseong (formerly Hanseong... hopefully you chaps learn quickly), where the local "United" team managed a thrilling but disappointing 3-2 loss to visiting Shimyang. After taking the lead at half-time, Sang Deok-Yeol looked give his club manager a welcome equalizer, only for Song to practically steal back the points at the last minute. And a bummer too for that, that would have been priceless. The other match in Yeiseong pitted Vanorian-outfits Yongsan against their regional archnemesis Shilla FC, with to goals, no doubt from Han players (and no doubt that'll spice up some fan happiness, 'specially since them elves aren't the only ones scoring the goals...). The fact that Shilla failed to return the favor seems to set up an uncomfortable setting for the return fixture. And despite this roster-fix-up-nightmare going on at Seoan Cheonma, they managed to win it late away in Oreum, even as the home side left it late to equalize (seems to be a popular theme...).

In fact, it was a good day to be from Seoan, because both teams managed to win away (in contrast to last week's home debacle). Jung Ji-Young, that stocky Shivat (no, not Han) international bought up in the recent World Cup Qualifiers, managed to score the only goal in the first ten minutes in Pyeongyang. And another stocky purchase from overseas - Kim Gihyeon, although he doesn't play for C&M internationally for some obvious reasons (if you came here hoping to play on the national team, get real) - managed to score a neat brace for Gwangju, who really needed it. Facing tough opponents away in Lasa, this game was all over in the first half-hour, but that didn't stop the crazy people from chanting all night long. Cheonjin also had a nice day for its international acquisition - although Rosário is seemingly a more capable international player than Kim is; we'll be cheering for that kid one day, you know - and they went up a comfortable 2-nil in front of the home fans, one of two clubs on the night to emerge with three points.

Oh, and several others went off and got boring Yafoties. Brilliant.

Matchday 2: 4722년 8월 7일

Yongsan FC (Yi Kwan-Wan 41', Pak Son-Du 87') 2-0 Shilla FC

w00t! Two days done! and ... seventeen more to go ... *sigh*

This is going to be a long trip.

Well, we'll start in Seoan, since that's where a lot of people will want to start. Seoan Cheonma continued their winning form, with goals from STARBLAYDIA and GIVE ME A ROSTER put the Horses 2-0 over visiting Joseon Dangun. That result also gives Joseon some reasonable worries, as they've gotten one solitary point from their first three matches - generally not a road well-traversed by most teams. The other result was a thrilling 3-2 win for the other Seoan club, who'd just managed to score the winning goal over Jjambongga before José Santos pulled it back just two minutes later. Clearly, defense is a foreign concept to these teams.

Sanghae Haetae managed an impressive comeback win against Cheonjin, with all goals coming within ten minutes in the second half. In fact, it was really Cwe Il-pil who surprised everyone by scoring straight from the reset after Yi Ae-Hwa had just sent Cheonjin ahead with a sublime kick. Cwe (which is Choe for you non-Paripana SLANI people) took up the ball with a neatly peeled shot that the goalkeeper had every right to expect go over the crossbar (except it went through his %$#^ legs...). Jason Bailey helped finish the scoring ten minutes later. The other match in Sanghae did not go the way that the hosts wanted, in fact, terribly, after wasting a half-time lead 2-1, Wang Gyu-Il managed to pull off the first ever hat-trick in Season 13 for Taeweon, to give them their first victory on the road. Hats off to Wang, who still remains virtually unknown in the Han Empire.

However, if you wanted genuine thrill matches, we're sorry to disappoint you. How about a rain check?

Well, that tense match between Malla Yeonhap and Toban Bulgyo did create some excitement, but that was more because someone from the home stand managed to lose his cock, and some other men wanted to have a fight with it. It seems that the bird managed to win too as the police had to escort the man and his pet downtown. Nonetheless, the home side did not go home happy, after leading the whole match on possession; they failed to get the one stat that really matters to the league coordinators. Gwangju and Shilla also pulled off 1-0 wins over their rivals, although to considerably less fanfare and less controversy. And Yeonseong picked up a win as well, although at this stage, it is clear that they are not the same Hangyeong team of yore.

Speaking of yore, it's time for the Yafotie hour!

Matchday 3: 4722년 8월 13일
Gohan Monggol 0-0 Haegu Taepung
Gwangju FC (Go Gyu-Dong 58') 1-0 Kapundae FC

Well, you know how the Han are... superstitious and all. MD4 does not exist.

So some of the stunning things that happened on MD5.

Network outages forced people to telegraph the entirety of 10 matches simultaneously to other people hoping to broadcast it. It fails miserably.

The few things that were linked in the broadcast was the fact that despite a whopping 6 goals scored in Malla, no one managed to emerge as victor in the contest. Well, there wasn't anyone named Victor playing in the first place, but no one won the match either, as it ended a good 3-3 draw, with no one clearly getting the upper-hand for long stretches. Cheonjin managed to rescue a point, owing to that last gasp goal from Kim Chan-Na - lucky girl to score against the confusedly rosterless Starblaydi outfit (are we sure that they're owned by Starblaydi owners?). Yeonseong pulled out another win in as many matches and they're suddenly on the right track once again, while teams from the South managed to pull off some "upsets" against favored homes sides Gwangju and Shilla. And as for Yongsan FC - another Yafotie?

Matchday 4: 4722년 8월 19일
Haegu Taepung (Wang Ho-Oh 19') 1-1 (Bong Seung-Seok 2') Yeiseong Yeonhap

Okay, so we're getting the hang of this thing here, and while it's quite unfortunate that C&M doesn't have any interns for export, we do have some strapping young Dancougarite intern who claims to be just as good as the real deal, so we'll see how that works out. In the meantime, it's matchday 6 and we're getting hot.

We'll go straight to Yongsan FC, who for the past three weeks have been horrible. And to be fair, they're still horrible, but they managed to win. After giving up a 2 goal lead, just ten minutes after the break, Shin Jong-Shik equalized for home side Taepung, and you can bet that the elves had their arses tightly pinched. And luckily they found a rescue with some time to spare, but close calls like these are not very well handled by the fans. Sure, it's an away win, but it's a close away win after squandering such a precious lead (sounds like someone we know).

Nonetheless, it was a day that seemed to celebrate close games, with only Taeweon storming out on top comfortably over Seoan Cheonma (hopefully we'll get their rosters updated someday if not so well or but because and done). For the most part, it was a close call, with goals sparse and few in between. Oreum managed a 1-0 win over Yeiseong Yeonhap, thanks to a goal within the first ten minutes, while Joseon Dangun managed their 1-0 win over Yeonseong with a goal in the last ten minutes.

Fortunately for us, there was one Yafotie to satisfy the WCC VP. Hooray.

Well, we're finally out of the World Cup, so we're finally gifted the opportunity to give you more coverage of the human anatomy, starting with a clear cut dissection of a nice ball-in-socket joint, complete with ligaments and tendons. And as we peel away the dermal layers - this patient seems to have a lot of fat... erm... - well, as we peel away the dermal layers, we can find the muscles of the deltoid, the biceps, the triceps, the supraspinatus, and the rotator cuff. Starting with the deltoids, which you'd probably need to be a goalkeeper in that thrilling 3-1 match between Malla Yeonhap and Haegu Taepung. Those deltoids were probably well-off and running as keepers were blocking shots left and right, with Son Jun-Il getting no less than 5 chances on goal. He was on fire all match, despite the early goal concession.

And to get past the muscles, we'll have to tear through the fibres here. And you can surely tell the difference here between the squamous smooth type muscle cells, largely devoted to those organs designed to squeeze and glurp, versus those slender striated type muscles cells, largely devoted to contraction and relaxation to move joints. On closer examination, we can note the zones of these poly-nucleated tissues (it's nearly impossible to tell apart individual cells, separated perhaps by an arbitary septate membrane, similar to those found in hyphoid organisms, such as oomycetes and fungi). And here you can find the two general bands as the muscle fibers contract and relax according to the molecular conformation of tryponin and actin-myosin threads. And in the presence of Ca+ ions, the tryponin shifts conformation to permit the myosin heads to contact and connect to the action fibers and begin ATP-induced contraction of the muscle fibril, much like those SLANI goaltenders connected and contracted the ball into the net against Gohan Monggol. The fact that Choe Hong-Gun scored twice in a minute of two minutes shows much to the active powers of the actin-myosin connections in his legs.

Going on now to the actual joint, peeling back the tendons, we can see a perfect example of a ball-in-socket, with the humerus fitting neatly into a gelatinous mold (the bursa) in between the clavicle and scapula, in particular the latter. The cumulation of the shoulder joint is in fact the glenohumeral joint, which takes its names from the glenoid fossa of the scapula and the head of the humerous. And let's take a quick look at this bursa, which is actually composed almost exclusively of water. In fact, it has the appearance of a bag, which helps hold the water inside and acts like a little floatation device upon which the bones "float" over one another. When the bursa breaks, the water spills out, leaving nothing behind to hold the bones from crashing into one another. Kind of like what happened in Shimyang, against regional rival Cheonjin - with those last two goals pretty much killing the mood of the whole match; or in Sanghae, where Gwangju similarly snatched away the three points late...

Oh wait... now you tell me that the anatomy lesson is three doors down? Not up? Good grief... and here I thought I was the crazy one...

Well, in any case, the rest of the league was as sloppy as that anatomy lesson there, with Yeiseong failing to win, as Yi Ok-Gil stole back the win for Joseon Dangun in the regional rivalry (there's a lot of those, aren't there?). Seoan was a very happy city, as both home sides managed to pull out impressive wins, even though Kapundae never really was out of that match until Hwang pulled off a stunning killer goal that proved even more importent when Marino scored what could have been the equalizer. Tough luck. And Yeonseong continued to make progress with a solitary goal from Hong Gang-Jeong proving enough in this contest.

And hooray for Yafotie!
