I withdraw my hosting bid. I will still sign up, however. We'll see how much I'm able to RP.

AOCAF XXXI
DELACLAVA BID

We are pleased to put forth a bid for the 31st AOCAF Cup. Delaclava has never done very well in AOCAF competition - shown by the fact that the world-#16 Delaclava are the seventh AO team in the world rankings yet are 36th in the regional rankings - but we are looking forward to changing that. And we happen to like the number 31.

Experience: Delaclava has hosted the 55th World Cup, 44th and 46th Cups of Harmony, 7th International Basketball Championships, 11th World Bowl, 4th Baptism of Iron, 2nd Quidditch World Cup, Valhalla Skating Grand Prix, six Scott Cups, Quinniville Carpet Championships (Tennis), Three Rivers Classic (Athletics), part of NSCAA 3, 5th Commonwealth Cup, and 1st Phoenix Cup.

Scorination: The scorinator will be Commerce Heights' xkoranate 0.3.2, using the NSFS formula with xkoranate-style modifiers. I have previously used version 0.3.0 IBC7, the VSGP, the 6th Scott Cup, the Three Rivers Classic, and NSCAA 3. I have chosen to use xkoranate and its modifiers rather than NSFS3 because of the revelation that NSFS3's style modifier factor always changes the margin of victory and favors more attacking teams in tiebreakers, whereas xkoranate's factor does so rarely. Scorination will occur at 10-11 PM Eastern Time.

Roleplay Bonuses: RP bonus will be cumulative, and RP bonus will be weighted quite heavily. An unranked team who reaches the maximum bonus consistently would be able to catch up with the top-ranked team (assuming that team didn't RP, of course). The body of work over a course of a matchday is considered, rather than individual RPs, and quality and originality is much more important than length.

Format: With 23 signups currently by my count, it looks like we'll be headed for 24 signups total. There will be four groups of six, and each team will play their groupmates once for a total of five games per team. The top four from each group will advance. After points, the tiebreakers are overall goal differential, head to head result(s), and then wins (note the absence of goals scored or goals allowed as a tiebreaker). If the tie is still not broken but must be to decide advancement to the knockout, one playoff game will be played. The sixteen teams will then be sorted according to points, then overall goal differential, head to head result(s) if applicable, wins, then coin flip. The sixteen teams will then participate in a single-elimination bracket to determine the champion. Preferably, groupmates will not rematch in the round of 16, and I will adjust the bracket so that this happens if the alterations can be minor. The bracket will stay fixed, and teams will not be reseeded after each round.

If you have any questions or comments, feel free to share them!

Is there a reason why there seems to be a discrepancy between the rankings you've calculated and the post-AOCAF 30 rankings Star calculated in this post? (I'm just going off the fact that you have me ranked 14th and Star's got me in 12th. For what it's worth, at first glance I don't see any mistakes on your spreadsheet so I'm guessing the error is on Star's side. Just want to check, though.)

I don't know for sure, but based on the specific discrepancies between Star and I, I'd venture a guess that perhaps it's how I count games that go to extra time in the knockouts. I'll take a closer look tomorrow morning.

Okay, I believe it's about time that we get this going. I have been advised by several AO nations that the vote can be skipped and a lone bidder can declare himself the host, so I am your host of AOCAF XXXI.

I'll be going with these 24:

Starblaydia
Krytenia
Sarzonia
Carpathia and Ruthenia
Bettia
Northern Bettia
Erathore
Delaclava
Dorian and Sonya
Valanora
Andossa Se Mitrin Vega
Bluth Corporation
Osarius
Kagdazka and Pazhujebu
Mantwenic
Tarrentum
Cafundéu
Sorthern Northland
The Bear Islands
Pacitalia
Scandonia
Indiarga
Sportgirls
Unitopolis

I have excluded Rebel Slaves from this list because they moved from Rushmore to Atlantian Oceania just ten days ago...and also signed up for this tournament just ten days ago. And it especially wouldn't be fair to Unitopolis, who's actually been a member of the region for some time. So sorry Mangolana, but your puppet's out.

An RP/roster/scores thread will be up soon.

Since Delaclava is the host by declaration, Sarzonia removes the conditional tag from its sign up and makes its entry official.
