After the first CHL season draws to a close. Season Two is up and ready to go. four more teams have been added to the league and now six whole teams will make it to the play offs. Only domestic transactions have been made to accomadate the new new teams. The new teams are as follows:

THE CUP

The Cup was bought by Charles Daniel and donated it to the league. Daniel was the founder of the Compolis Cats and the Port Kostas Mates to form the CHL. The most huble part was he did it out of love for hockey. The cup it's self is 25 lbs (11.33 kg).

THE ROAD

The tournament to win the cup is a single elimination tournament. The first and second teams get a quarter final bye. There are best of five series.

Things get ever more internationastatal in this, the next season of Plutonian ice hockey! Or should I say, outside it?

We got to see some of the diversity of team names, for one thing. If you weren't aware (it always helps to clarify), the East Anteaters are not, in fact, anteaters. Nor are the North Minotaurs Minotaurs, the West Dragons Dragons, or the Outskirts Octopi Octopi. Now, in the Open Division, things are a little bit more straightforward--the Giants are on the large side, the Demons do draw more than their fair share of fouls, the Divers are pretty diverse. Still, meeting the "Darmenians" and "Canucks" (okay, maybe not so tautological) was a nice change of pace.

The Combatants had better luck against the Mt Ceabring Stormchasers than the Anteaters had had (away goals, eh? Good to know. Not that it matters), but eventually lost to the Montréal Cotdelapomais. No hard feelings, though; in fact, Rodney Klapper (of the Exurbia Humanizts) transferred into the Outremont Owls of the Cotdelapomais. (Although since Montréal beat Outremont for the championship, maybe there are hard feelings. On the other handlike appendage, the Combatants and Humanizts have an awkward dynamic going. In case you've forgotten, the Humanizts don't mind the Combatants (and considering their feelings for most of the rest of the division, "don't mind" is high praise), but the Combatants look down on the Humanizts. It's complicated.)

Okay. Could it be...some vestige of consistency? Two of these are returning playoff teams, the other two were fifth and seventh respectively. The Giants have dropped off rather dramatically, which is bad when their coach is supposedly in charge of the national team, but we can always fire it.

The Superstars beat the Combatants 2-1 to open their semifinal; it was the highest-scoring game, although the Combatants used the same scoreline to win a penalty shootout after a scoreless game three. They eventually won in five games. In the battle of the outsiders, the Monks were shut out, although they also took game three in a 2-1 shootout.

The Combatants got some offense when they started the final with a 5-2 win, and it wouldn't even be their highest-scoring game; game 6 went 4-4 before the Superstars won a shootout. The Combatants would have their revenge in game seven, though, winning by a single goal to defend their title. Hooray!

AHL 2011.1 Season Comes to an End

With the conclusion of last nights game, the 2011.1 AHL season has drawn to a close, with impressive battles happening on every facet of the game. It was a hard fought series, however, it would be the Itakawai Lightning who would one again reign supreme over Avatarian Hockey; for the third time in a row, the Lightning have hoisted Avatar Kuruk's chalice in the air victoriously and now, they shall be granted an even more impressive stage to perform upon.

Following the Presentation of the Cup, AHL Chairman Wen Jiabao announced that the four top teams in the AHL --- the four teams which advanced into the Conference Semi-Finals --- shall be travelling abroad in the coming weeks to take part in the Champions League of Hockey, hosted by Cotdelapoms. This event shall pit the four Avatarian teams against the Champion teams from nations far and wide.
