Corrupt Dictatorship

Postby Trans-Dniesters » Sun Mar 07, 2021 11:18 am

Due to a bureaucratic mess-up, both the Fleftic National Ice Hockey League (FNIHL) and the Pridnestrovia-based Koalition Hockey League (KHL) were unable to submit the entrants from their respective 2029-30 seasons in time for the 15th Hockey Champions League, meaning that the Port Thimpodopoulos Aliens and HC Traktor Bender, among others, would have to wait for another season before they could compete as Abanhfleft's and Pridnestrovia's representatives in the HCL. However, by sheer coincidence the collective bargaining agreements in both leagues expired just before the start of the 2030-31 season for both leagues, and no agreement was reached until January 2031. By that time, both leagues had announced their respective cancellations, meaning both leagues did not play out the 2030-31 season at all. This was widely believed to be the reason why all the FNIHL and KHL clubs that took part in the 16th Hockey Champions League underperformed. But now both the FNIHL and the KHL are back, and they're ready to check some foreigners into the sides.

Ice hockey is probably the least popular of the so-called 'major' team sports in Mytanija (i.e. football, basketball, handball, ice hockey and volleyball), with this mostly being due to its significantly restricted geographical range when compared to the others. This is mainly down to one of the key components of the sport - ice - not being in high supply in certain regions. Historically ice hockey teams were founded in cities that experience wintry conditions for longer periods of the year and often played on outdoor rinks, this ruled out lots of major cities from hosting teams in the SHLM Liga. Of course in the modern day this isn't as big an issue due to indoor ice rinks and the like, but the governing body are notoriously conservative and refuse to expand the league to feature teams from potentially lucrative markets such as Ebor, Tsrvena, Arsika or Severyan (indeed there are no teams in the league from Visoravna, Rauchnya or Nasto and Avnalia).

The sport's heartland within Mytanija is undoubtedly within the region of Thessia with teams from there having won the championship in just over half (15 out of 28) of SHLM Liga seasons. NK Thessia, Tekstil, Zavolja and Zeljeznicar are all strong outfits from the region and will usually be in the upper echelons of the league table come the end of the season. With this being said, the single strongest team in SHLM Liga history is HK Prizren who have won 7 championships down the years - but none since the 15/16 season. They're always a strong team due to the size of Prizren's population and they also draw players from throughout Vojovitica such is their reputation in ice hockey. The other Vojovitican teams (CDSA and HK Miago) cannot hold a candle to HK Prizren.

Outside of this Esca has a few teams (Akademija, BVK Dinamo, Dinamo and Zenit), but none of them have ever succeeded in winning the league title, perhaps accurately demonstrating the capital's preference for other sports. More widely in Zentria there is Hajerek and Torpedo who have both won the league title at one point or another, Obolon have surprised people a few times in recent seasons by finishing near the top of the table but they haven't managed to turn their good performances into a championship. KK Magevskaya are Magevskaya's sole representatives (perhaps unsurprisingly), and have a couple of championships which were won a long time apart. They often flatter to deceive, having good line-ups but also a tendency to self-destruct when it looks like they may be on their way to a title.

Let's see what happened this season:

Zavolja secure their fourth SHLM Liga title and the first since they went back-to-back in 17/18 so it has been a long time coming. Their title win was built on their brilliant attacking play, they were the league leaders for scoring and their gameplan was very much built upon the goal scoring contribution of their two wings Ismet Susic and Sergej Gisic. Both topped 20 goals over the course of the season, with Susic leading the league with 25 and Gisic managing 23 of his own. They were absolutely brilliant and it helped that they both stayed injury free for all 34 games of the campaign.

Their centre Beriz Kopanja is only 20 years old but he put in performances that belied his tender years, he wasn't the main contributor in terms of scoring but he acted as a facilitator for both Susic and Gisic. He managed 18 assists for the season in addition to 12 goals of his own, a fantastic statistical performance in addition to him very much passing the eye test with how he played. His size is extremely beneficial, he stands at 194cm and weighs in at a hefty 96kg too, presumably with some room to grow and bulk up further - Kopanja could turn into a real talent if he can continue to perform like this.

At the opposite end Zavolja were led by the veteran Rahim Samardzic but it was the performance of 25 year old Elvedin Grbic which impressed the most. Grbic is a real strong two-way defenseman, capable of being physical with opponents whilst retaining the technical ability to make a difference to his team's play at the other end of the ice. Grbic was key with his shooting ability from outside, the accuracy and precision meaning opponents had to keep an eye on him which created room for other players.

All in all a really complete team and deserved champions, ice hockey means so much to the people of Zavolja - a town in the mountains of western Thessia with a population of around 300,000 - with their team being the town's most high-profile sporting representatives. The only other sports team they have are in the fourth tier of Mytanar football, so the hockey team really puts Zavolja on the map and this success allows them to get one over their closest rivals Zeljeznicar from the town of Sigurno which is the next nearest big settlement. It also allows Zavolja to put one over the rest of Thessia, the region which has provided the most ice hockey champions of all. This is now the 16th SHLM Liga title to go to a team from the region of Thessia in 29 seasons, demonstrating the dominance the region has over the rest of the country in this sport. The top three of Zavolja, Tekstil and the aforementioned Zeljeznicar demonstrate this even further, the rest of Mytanija has some ways to go to catch-up.

A win for another small market team reinforces the idea that ice hockey is a bit of a provincial sport in Mytanija too, ten titles have now been won by teams from towns with populations of less than 300,000 people, though HK Prizren, NK Thessia, Tekstil and KK Magevskaya do provide a bit of a response to that with their combined 19 titles (all have populations of at least over a million people).

Greater Banijan Hockey League- HCL 17

Team Information
(Note to Grader: I did not re-write this in any way since I used it during my submission for the last HCL, and it has not been worked on since the HCL 16 submission. So do what you like, but my presumption is that it's already been used for a graded RP for HCL 16, and should not count for RP bonus for HCL 17.)

Teams play an 8 game round robin against divisional opponents only for 56 regular season games. 2 points for a win, there is no shootout for this season. All games are played until there is a sudden death winner. Regular Season Overtime periods are 3 on 3 for 10 minute periods.

Playoff Qualification for the GBHL has changed. The top team in each conference is declared the conference champion. They get a bye to the GBHL semifinals, and automatic bids to the HCL. The next four best teams by record(regardless of conference), will play in the HCL Qualifying Series. The #3 team will play the #6 team, and the #4 team will play the #5 team. Both shall be Best of 3, with all three games hosted by the higher seed. The winners shall advance to the GBHL Semifinals, with the highest seeded advancing team to play the conference champion with the worse record, while the other conference champion plays the other advancing team. Both of these series will be Best of 7(2-3-2). The two winners of the HCL Qualifying Series shall also clinch the last two GBHL berths in the HCL.

The winners of the semifinal series will play in a best of seven in the GBHL championship series(2-2-1-1-1), with home ice given to the team with more points in the regular season.

Mini Roundup
It was a very interesting season of the GBHL, where it shows how much has changed, and yet, how much has stayed the same. The Conference champions did not change- once again, the Quebec Grizzlies and St. Jakob Crusaders both showed their dominance in conference play, as both teams won their conference for the second straight seasons. The Golden Bears of Istria, the only GBHL team actually in Banija, also still stink.

But a lot has changed. The Rosaria Knights were hit with a raft of retirements, as the GBHL's last champions stunningly shocked the country and dropped from first to worst. From the champions of the Greater Banijan Hockey League, to last place in their conference. How far the mighty fall. Many questions will be asked of the Knights, but you saw teams that were willing to step up and take their place. Last season, Jaromirgrad, in Savojarna, won just one single game out of 56. This year, they won over 50% of their games and finished in 4th place in their Conference. The Schemerdrecht Caribou went from 7th to second in the North Conference, as behind the Quebec Grizzlies, there was a great re-shuffling in that conference.

Last season, the playoffs breeded chaos. The two conference champions were downed in the semifinals. The St. Jakob Crusaders were swept by Rosaria, while the Grizzlies lost an agonizing Game 7, on home ice, against the Stalliongrad Mountaineers. But both conference champions were ready for their challengers this time. The Grizzlies swept the Caribou, while the Crusaders had a more competitive series, but eventually won in six against Mansfield.

And that left us with a mouthwatering final- St. Jakob v. Quebec City. And it would be the Grizzlies who would win the series. With some road cooking, of course. THey won the opening two games in Teusland, downing St. Jakob by a stunning 9-5 in Game 1, and then winning in overtime in Game 2 to really take a stranglehold. While the Crusaders fought back in Game 3, a roaring home crowd witnessed the Grizzlies pitch a shutout in Game 4. While Game 5 was played in St. Jakob, the Grizzlies were able to jump to a 4-1 lead early in the third period, and then were barely able to hold on for their lives. St. Jakob made it 4-2 with 10:20 left, and made it 4-3 with 3:22 left. But the Grizzlies held those final 3 minutes and 22 seconds, and were able to lift that trophy.

Overall, another exciting season of the GBHL. The league seems to have stabilized at 16 teams. They have 16 markets they are committed to, and it seems to be going strong. Is HCL success on the horizon?

Changes 9 Mar: In original post, Chippewa Steel (DAR) was incorrectly advanced instead of Joeport Teapots (QOD) to face Sukwpel Gorillas (AFT) in the 2nd preliminary round. Scorinated correctly, Joeport Teapots won the 2nd prelim round tie and as a pot 4 team, was given the group stage spot originally drawn for Sukwpel Gorillas.
12 Mar: Due to a digit missing in tallying the aggregate score of Schoenwetter HC 3-10 JK Suranyi Solymok, the wrong team was advanced to face Seraai Icestronauts. This has now been fixed and the coefficients updated accordingly.

Again the Schoenwetter Scorpions made it into the group stage of the HCL, not champion Timesteam. The team celebrated and promised to challenge Timesteam in the KHL, too.
Three of the Top players pledging this later left the team towards the presidents championship team. "Money" and "love for the family" were claimed as reasons from the players.

Timesteam defended the title, close second became the Crazy Cowards, who reinforced their squad with players from the World Cup Quarterfinalists National team of Kriegiersien, young talents and talents from the women's national team.
The Schoenwetter Scorpions at least stayed in the Top 4, stating that the KHL was only the qualification for the HCL anyway and the title of Kriegiersien champion worthless.

Vilitan Hockey Championship

A Summary of the results of the most recent Vilita & Turori Domestic Hockey Competition is included below:

Vilaye Domestic Hockey League :: Season 12

Western Conference Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Seraai Icestronauts 24 12 3 9 32 26 +6 27
2 Lonngeylin Storm Surge 24 11 4 9 34 33 +1 26
3 Marine Mammals 24 10 6 8 37 34 +3 26

4 Tivali River Sharks 24 10 6 8 44 38 +6 26
5 Arcticala Icetricity 24 8 8 8 30 31 −1 24
6 Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes 24 8 5 11 38 44 −6 21
7 Vilisorma Yutzies 24 5 8 11 33 42 −9 18

Eastern Conference Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Morata Valley Fog 24 14 4 6 47 36 +11 32
2 Lopinka Lynx 24 12 7 5 35 22 +13 31
3 Turoki Islanders 24 10 7 7 44 45 −1 27

4 Sile Crocodile 24 8 7 9 35 35 0 23
5 Eelandii Explorers 24 8 5 11 23 32 −9 21
6 Yeaddin HC 24 3 11 10 28 38 −10 17
7 Obaobai Bombers 24 5 7 12 34 38 −4 17

After an impressive run during VHL Season 11 that ended with a first round playoff exit at the hands of eventual runners up Obaobai Bombers, the Lopinka Lynx were optimistic about their chances of improving during VHL Season 12. However, very few could have expected their performance in the first half of the VHL Regular Season where the Lynx went unbeaten through the first 12 games of competition and opened up a commanding 7 point advantage atop the Eastern Conference over teh defending VHL Champion Morata Valley Fog.

As for the defending runners up, the Obaobai Bombers found themselves at the bottom of the league with just three wins from their opening twelve matches and last in the league with just 10 goals scored in that time period. Of course, some of that was due to the Bombers ultra defensive style of play with a shut down man zone that was also responsible for conceding the fewest amount of goals against in the league at the halfway mark. The only problem for Obaobai was that the Bombers were not scoring goals to turn ties into wins.

At the midway point in the Western Conference it was a virtual tossup with four teams separated by just 2 points and fighting for 3 spots in the playoffs. It had been an all or nothing season for the defending Western Conference champion Seraai Icetronauts who had just one tie and six wins to sit just outside the playoff zone.

It wouldn't be until the 14th game of the season that the Lopinka Lynx would finally take a loss doing so at the hands of the Sile Crocodile who were impressive early in the season as they looked to position themselves into the playoffs for the first time in team history. It would seemingly be the opening of the dam for the Lynx who saw their 7 point advantage atop the East and +16 Goals Differential quickly erased after subsequent defeats to the Turoki Islanders and Eelandii Explorers. After opening with a 13 match undefeated run the Lynx 3 straight defeats allowed the Morata Valley Fog to pull level on points with the Lynx headed into a head to head matchup atop the East at the Toys '4' All Arena in Lopinka. it was the 17th game of the season for Lopinka and 18th for the Fog who would take over the top spot in the East with a 1-0 victory at the Toy Box. The Lynx would use their game in hand to their advantage, however, defeating Yeaddin HC to pull back even with the Fog with Six games to play. The duo, fighting for Top spot in the East and a Bye in the first round of hte playoffs, held a 6 point edge over teh 4th place Sile Crocodile who were on the outside looking in for the playoffs at the time.

Over in the West the real surprise story were the Marine Mammals who were holding on strong to second place in the Conference looking to make some history of their own as they contended for a playoff position after finishing 1 point off the bottom of the table the season before. During Season 11, Marine had the fewest wins in the entire conference and second fewest in the league but with 8 wins in 18 matches and just five defeats the Mammals were contenders for the Western Conference playoffs. The Mammals picked up a huge 5-2 victory in Tivali against the Western Conference leading Tivali River Sharks in both sides 19th game of the season to solidify themselves as potential Conference title contenders and not just fighting for a chance in the playoffs. The Mammals would pull level with the River Sharks with a 1-0 victory over the Seraai Icetronauts when the River Sharks suffered an unexpected defeat to the Arcticala Electricity who were fighting hard to catch the Icestronauts for the last playoff spot in the West.

One of the highest scoring games came late in the season in the Eastern Conference when Obaobai defeated the Sile Crocodile by a 5-4 scoreline which also put a massive dent in Sile's hopes of advancing to the playoffs, leaving the team one point behind the Tuorki Islanders who also had a game in hand. Incredibly, after having scored and conceded the fewest goals in the league during the first half of the season, Obaobai's high scoring record would last just one match when they outdid themselves once more in a 6-6 tie with the Turoki Islanders on the penultimate matchday. While the Bombers were already out of Playoff Contention, surviving with a point was critical for the Turoki Islanders who were defending the final playoff spot in the East and extended their lead over the Sile Crocodile to two points heading into the final game of the regular season.

Over in the West, the Marine Mammals chance at topping the conference ended with a 4-2 defeat to the Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes on the penultimate matchday of the season and they would stand by and wait to see if scores on the final Matchday would see them through to the playoffs for the first time or not. With a 2 point advantage over the Lonngeylin Storm Surge, Marine were hoping their rivals would fail to win their final game to leave any doubt about their advancement behind. At the same time, the Seraai Icestrounauts had snuck through to the top of the conference standings by a single point over the Tivali River Sharks and the River Sharks would be playing their local rivals Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes needing a point to assure a place in the playoffs and two points to have a chance at the Conference Title if the Icestronauts were held by the Arcticala Electricity.

It was a bad day all around for teams who needed a result in the West and the Tivali River Sharks would get the worst end of the deal after a 2-1 defeat at the hands of the Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes. Coupled with a victory by the Lonngeylin Storm Surge over the Vilisorma Yutzies, the River Sharks were stuck in a three way tie on 26 points for 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the West behind the Champion Seraai Icestronauts. Despite having the Highest Goals scored in the conference overall, the tiebreak among the three teams would only consider the matches they played against each other and in those matches the River Sharks performed the worst with the two playoff spots instead going to the Lonngeylin Storm Surge and Marine Mammals.

In the Eastern Conference all the focus was on the Turoki Coliseum where the Sile Crocodile had the chance to join the Marine Mammals as first time playoff competitors if they could defeat the Turoki Islanders on their home ice. In a thrilling match, the Islanders prevailed 3-2 to secure the final playoff spot in the East behind the Morata Valley Fog, earning the bye for topping the regular season standings, and the Lopinka Lynx.

Conference 'Wild Card' Playoffs:

Lonngeylin Storm Surge 4–3 Marine Mammals (2OT)
Marine Mammals 3–5 Lonngeylin Storm Surge

:: Lonngeylin Storm Surge Advance 2-0 ::

Lopinka Lynx 3–2 Turoki Islanders
Turoki Islanders 3–4 Lopinka Lynx (OT)

:: Lopinka Lynx Advance 2-0 ::

For the first time since being introduced to the Vilitan Hockey League Playoff system, each of the two Conference Wild Card Playoff matchups were won in a sweep by the higher seeded team as the 2nd place team in the East, the Lonngeylin Storm Surge, defeated the debutant playoff side the Marine Mammals while the Lopinka Lynx made up for their early exit one season prior by defeating the Turoki Islanders over two games.

Of course, it wasn't for a lack of competition as all four games were thrilling with three periods of overtime played and the only game which was settled by more than a single goal was the Storm Surge's clincher over the Mammals that saw Lonngeylin net a late empty net goal to secure the 5-3 victory to move on to the Inter-Conference round.

Inter-Conference Playoffs:

Seraai Icestronauts 0–1 Lopinka Lynx
Lopinka Lynx 4–2 Seraai Icestronauts
Seraai Icestronauts 4–3 Lopinka Lynx
Lopinka Lynx 1–0 Seraai Icestronauts (2OT)
Seraai Icestronauts 3–4 Lopinka Lynx

:: Lopinka Lynx Advance 4-1 ::

Morata Valley Fog 3–2 Lonngeylin Storm Surge
Lonngeylin Storm Surge 1–3 Morata Valley Fog
Morata Valley Fog 0–3 Lonngeylin Storm Surge
Lonngeylin Storm Surge 1–0 Morata Valley Fog (2OT)
Morata Valley Fog 4–2 Lonngeylin Storm Surge
Lonngeylin Storm Surge 3–2 Morata Valley Fog
Morata Valley Fog 2–1 Lonngeylin Storm Surge

:: Morata Valley Fog Advance 4-3 ::

For the second straight season after earning the bye through the Inter-Conference Playoff Round, the Western Conference champion Seraai Icestronauts were handily defeated by the Eastern Conference Wild Card qualifier. While it was the Obaobai Bombers who ended the Icestronauts Vilitan Hockey League playoff run early during VHL Season 11, this time it would be the Lopinka Lynx. The Lynx took control of the series right from the start gutting out a 1-0 victory in Seraai to steal home ice advantage. In the end, it wouldn't be necessary as the Lynx would win 3 of the next four games including a double-overtime chess match in Lopinka in order to advance to their first ever Vilitan Hockey Championship.

It was quite the contrast to the other Inter-conference playoff which would go the distance a full seven games in a back-and forth series that the Morata Valely Fog always seemed to be half a step ahead. After opening the series with two straight victories it appeared the Fog might be able to roll straight on through the Storm Surge in a rare battle of weather phenomenon on the Ice. The Storm Surge would strike back in a big way however with a 3-0 thrashing over the Fog in Morata Valley before pulling level with their own double-overtime victory on home ice to tie the series at two. From then, Home Ice advantage would prevail as the teams exchanged victories before the Fog took game seven in Morata Valley to return to the Vilitan Hockey Championship for teh third straight season as they would look to become the first team in VHL history to win three straight championships.

While the Fog were searching for their own piece of history there was another piece of history already made as the Lopinka Lynx would become the second consecutive team to advance from the Wild Card rounds to make their first ever appearance in the Vilitan Hockey Championship. Of course, the Fog would have Home Ice advantage but that disadvantage did not stop the Lynx in their take down of the Seraai Icestronauts in the Inter-Conference Playoff Round. There was no road magic for the Lynx in Morata Valley to kick off the Vilitan Hockey Championship but they got their own back in Game 2 at home to tie the series at 1. It was also just the second time throughout the playoffs thus far that back-to-back games were won by two or more goals by different teams with the Fog taking the opener 4-2 and the Lynx winning at home 2-0.

The momentum of the series took a turn in Game 3 when the Lynx stunned the Fog with three goals in the third period to run out with a 5-4 victory taking a 2-1 lead in the series and control of Home Ice advantage. The Fog nearly got back into things forcing overtime in Game 4 but the Lynx would get the winner in the extra session to move within one game of their first ever Vilitan Hockey Championship. They would get the win they needed on the road after shutting down the Fog in Game five - with a 1-0 victory that would deny the Fog the chance to become the first ever three-peat winners of the Vilitan Hockey Championship and instead bring the Trophy back to the Toy Box in Lopinka for the first time in history.

Vilitan Hockey Championship

Morata Valley Fog 4–2 Lopinka Lynx
Lopinka Lynx 2–0 Morata Valley Fog
Morata Valley Fog 4–5 Lopinka Lynx
Lopinka Lynx 1–0 Morata Valley Fog (OT)
Morata Valley Fog 0–1 Lopinka Lynx

:: Lopinka Lynx Win 4-1 ::

With the title the Lynx became the Sixth different team to win the Vilitan Hockey Championship all time with Yeaddin HC (4) the Seraai Icestronauts (3) and the Morata Valley Fog (2) as the only repeat winners. Each of the Six championships have come from the Original 10 VHL Franchises and no team from the Expansion era has won the Vilitan Hockey Championship, with only the Obaobai Bombers during Season 11 advancing to the Final. With the Lynx having advanced to and won the Vilitan Hockey Championship, it leaves only the Tivali River Sharks among Original 10 franchises who have yet to contest a Vilitan Hockey Championship series.

2047-48 Darmeni Ice Hockey Season
DIHL-Part 1 | DIHL-Part 2 | EDIHA

The 2047-48 Darmeni ice hockey season delivered plenty of surprises, such as perennial playoff contender Tim City Orcas missing out altogether, or typically bottom feeding Buckingham Blue Arrows suddenly deciding to win their division. Chuckio HC, who have won the Southern Conference West Division in each of the five years since its inception, could manage only third place this time around. This was also the first 82 game season to not feature at least one team having scored more than 280 goals and just the second season to feature every team having at least 30 wins over the course of the season. Conclusion: the parity between teams is closer than its ever been, the competition being so fierce that the usual suspects for playoff contention are no longer safe bets at the bookies.

The Lyons Cup Finals featured two familiar teams however, as a rematch of the 2045-46 finals took place between the Darmen City Flames and Rogerton AIK. Two seasons ago, it was the southern team that whitewashed their northern opponents, but this time fortunes were reversed even though the Flames had a tougher time of it. With a 3-1 lead after the first four games of the finals series, Rogerton AIK won games five and six to bring the series level at 3-3. Game seven was scheduled for Rogerton and the 4,100 capacity Rogerton Ice Arena was filled to the brim with local fans expecting their team's third DIHL title. Flames winger Glaw Langer turned those dreams into nightmares as he scored two goals early in the second period to give the Flames a 2-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Team captain Lambert Roscoe would lift Darmen City's second Lyons Cup and first since the 2038-39 season as many young Rogerton fans sobbed in the stands.

Next season, DIHL fans can look forward to something new, as the league has awarded an expansion franchise to what will be its 32nd club: the Metro ERC 96 club located in Aissurop, Esportivan Darmen. The club has some amount of pedigree even before entering the DIHL: not only has it won this season's Esportivan Darmen Ice Hockey Association title handsomely (losing only two games over the course of a 52 game schedule), but the club (or perhaps more correctly one of its predecessors) also finished as runner-up in the second edition of the Hockey Champions League some three decades ago. The Raynor City Raptors of Valanora emerged victorious, 4-3, over the surprise finalists and despite the loss, the game is still remembered well by Aissuropian hockey fans.

The sport's heartland within Mytanija is undoubtedly within the region of Thessia with teams from there having won the championship in just over half (16 out of 29) of SHLM Liga seasons.

## SHLM Liga Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
01 Zavolja 34 24 5 5 74 26 +48 77 C, HCL

10 Slovan 34 13 5 16 43 55 −12 44
11 Obolon 34 13 4 17 54 61 −7 43
12 Torpedo 34 11 7 16 48 54 −6 40
13 Dinamo 34 11 7 16 34 53 −19 40
14 Atletik 34 7 8 19 42 65 −23 29
15 BVK Dinamo 34 3 12 19 34 69 −35 21
16 Olympic 34 4 8 22 26 66 −40 20
17 Zenit 34 5 5 24 26 74 −48 20
18 Akademija 34 2 6 26 21 74 −53 12

Only two clubs have ever retained the SHLM Liga title before, HK Prizren - on two occasions - and Zavolja, who have now also done it on two separate occasions. They were not quite as good as they were last season, finishing four points worse off overall, but that mattered little in the end as their mean defensive performances made sure that they were the best in the competition. Jusuf Kapic might be the best goaltender in the country at the moment and Elvedin Grbic has really developed into a top-class defenseman over the past few years, he was ably partnered by the veteran Rahim Samardzic in Zavolja's first choice defensive partnership. Beriz Kopanja is only 21 years of age and is already bullying much older players, he is improving at a rate not seen since when Andrei Yeryomin initially burst onto the scene. Ismet Susic and Sergej Gisic are two of the most incisive wing players in Mytanija and their play off of Kopanja creates plenty of scoring opportunities as they misdirect their opponents. All in all this was a well deserved title for Zavolja, they were not quite as good as their title-winning team from last season but they are still the best Mytanija has to offer and they will go into the Champions' League full of belief. Everybody else has a job on their hands to catch them domestically, this allowed them to move level with NK Thessia and Tekstil on five SHLM Liga titles, the Thessian dominance of the sport does not seem to be changing any time soon.

Hajerek have done well to break into the top four, they were left on the outside looking in last season as they finished 5th, just outside the Champions' League positions. They were in the running for the title for much of the season, but slightly faded towards the end as Zavolja's greater star power carried them to the championship. It was a breakout year for right-wing Tihomir Milosevic, the 21 year old will surely be on Ivica Takac's radar for the national team ahead of the next World Cup of Hockey. Hajerek will point at their 10 drawn games as missed opportunities as they were actually the hardest team in the SHLM Liga to beat during the 29/30 season, only losing three times in total. They will take heart from finishing in the top four, to be consistently towards the top of the league every year despite hailing from a town of only 200,000 people is quite impressive given that they're regularly out-competing teams from much larger cities like Prizren and Thessia. Much credit has to go to the likes of Hajerek - as well as champions Zavolja and Zeljeznicar, both from towns of around 300,000 people - for doing so well on much lower budgets and sticking it to the big boys so often.

Speaking of clubs from much larger cities, Tekstil and HK Prizren rounded out the top four and qualified for the Champions' League as a result. They will both want to close the gap to the top two and actual compete for the title next year, with Tekstil wanting to repeat their success from the 27/28 season and HK Prizren wanting to win their first title since 15/16. They might be the most successful team in Mytanar ice hockey but they have gone through one hell of a championship drought since then. NK Thessia and CDSA both finished level on points with HK Prizren but were beaten by their superior goal differential. NK Thessia signed Andrei Yeryomin from KK Magevskaya prior to the season for a record fee but the national team starter didn't enjoy the best of debut seasons, he still scored 19 goals but he didn't have the same dominant effect that he had for his hometown club and it may be a case of him taking some time to adjust to his new environment in Thessia as they try to build a championship team around him. Young players like Lakic, Suljic, Jusufovic and especially Zejnil Akanovic can learn from Yeryomin and few would be surprised if they are major challengers for the SHLM Liga title next year.

Vilitan Hockey Championship

A Summary of the results of the most recent Vilita & Turori Domestic Hockey Competition is included below:

Vilaye Domestic Hockey League :: Season 13

Western Conference Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Lonngeylin Storm Surge 24 12 6 6 57 53 +4 30
2 Vilisorma Yutzies 24 12 5 7 44 38 +6 29
3 Seraai Icestronauts 24 11 3 10 47 46 +1 25

4 Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes 24 8 6 10 31 40 −9 22
5 Marine Mammals 24 8 5 11 34 36 −2 21
6 Tivali River Sharks 24 9 3 12 34 32 +2 21
7 Arcticala Icetricity 24 8 4 12 42 44 −2 20

Eastern Conference Pld W D L GF GA GD Pts
1 Lopinka Lynx 24 11 8 5 52 40 +12 30
2 Turoki Islanders 24 9 8 7 34 33 +1 26
3 Sile Crocodile 24 9 7 8 35 38 −3 25

4 Morata Valley Fog 24 8 8 8 30 27 +3 24
5 Obaobai Bombers 24 7 8 9 35 41 −6 22
6 Eelandii Explorers 24 7 8 9 26 27 −1 22
7 Yeaddin HC 24 6 7 11 40 46 −6 19

Of the four Vilitan Hockey League Teams competing in the 18th Hockey Champions League - only the Champion team, the Lopinka Lynx, failed to advance from the Group Stage. It was a best ever showing for Vilitan Teams with three teams advantaging to the Quarter-Finals where the Lonngeylin Storm Surge defeated the Morata Valley Fog and the Seraai Icestronauts advanced over the Raynor City Raptors of Valanora. The two remaining Vilitan sides avoided each other in the Semi-Finals with just one surviving: The Seraai Icestronauts. After home-and-away victories over Rogerton AIK of Darmen, the Icestronauts would head East to the Toys '4' All Arena in Lopinka for the first ever Hockey Champions League final played in Vilita. Unfortunately, the Icestronauts could not get the job down in front of a largely pro-Vilitan crowd as they were defeated in a close game 4-2 by the Reynea Monsoons of Taeshan. The Icestronauts were pushing for a late equalizer until the Monsoons blasted one into the empty net to secure the title.

The defending Vilitan Hockey Champion Lopinka Lynx raised their first ever championship banner at the very same arena just weeks later against the Obaobai Bombers to kick off Season 13 of the Vilitan Hockey League. It was a perfect celebration for all the fans in Vilita's Colonial Capital as the Lynx raised the banner in style with a 4-2 victory that put them on top the Eastern Conference Table once more to kick off the season. The Lynx would have an up and down start to the season however, being both the first team to achieve double digits in goals scored - and in goals against. After a 3-4 defeat to the Eelandii Explorers on Matchday 4 the Lynx had 11 goals scored and 11 conceded in four games to start the season.

Excitement was abound in the Western Conference on Matchday 2 when two games accounted for a total of 20 goals with The Arcticala Icetricity energizing the fans at the Electric Box with a 6-4 victory over the Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes while the Lonngeylin Storm Surge were victories on the road against the Seraai Icestronauts by the same scoreline. It was a stark contrast to the results in the West on Matchday 4 when all three games ended in a 1-0 scoreline.

Big results would become the norm in the West as only one team - the Marine Mammals - seemed to have any clue how to play Defense. Marine, however, would finally come undone on Matchday 5 conceding four of their six goals against on the season in a 4-3 defeat to the Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes. It was nothing compared with the goal fest in Seraai when a new season record was established as the lamp was lit twelve times as Seraai defeated the Vilisorma Yutzies 7-5.

At the halfway point in the season, things were becoming clear in the East as the Morata Valley Fog and Eelandii Explorers lagged behind as the only teams in the league still stuck on single-digit points. The Turoki Islanders held the top spot with the best Defense in the league conceding just five goals in 12 games - the only team averaging less than one goal conceded per game. Defending champion Lopinka Lynx had righted the ship after an up and down start to climb back into the playoff zone two points clear of the 4th place Yeaddin HC.

In the Western Conference there was nothing between any of the 7 teams with just four points and nine goals separating the leaders Arcticala Icetricity from bottom side Alikk-Corra Aye-Ayes. While no club in the East had conceded twenty goals and just one team had scored twenty (Defending champion Lopinka Lynx), three teams in the West had conceded twenty and four had scored twenty or more goals including the Seraai Icertonauts who led the league in both categories with 23 goals scored and 28 goals conceded.

The Lopinka Lynx rode their momentum in the East back to the top of the standings with a massive 6-3 victory over fellow playoff contenders the Sile Crocodile on Matchday fourteen. It propped the Lynx five points clear of the playoff cutoff as they became the first team on the season to achieve a double-digit positive goal differential.

With six games to play, the Lynx were caught by the Turoki Islanders and the two sides would seem prepared to duke it out for the Eastern Conference Title and first round bye. Four points behind them, the Sile Crocodile searched for a spot in the playoffs but had Yeaddin HC hot on their heels looking to take that spot away. In the West, the Lonngeylin Storm Surge had separated themselves from the pack with five wins from six games to put five points between them and the fourth place Tivali River Sharks.

The Lynx would all but secure the Eastern Conference title with a 6-4 victory at the Turoki Coliseum over the Islanders amidst a four match winning streak that would separate them from the competition. The Islanders had an opportunity to get back in the fight on Matchday 23 when the Morata Valley Fog upset the Lynx but the Islanders could not take advantage dropping a 6-3 result on the road to the Obaobai Bombers which allowed the Bombers to stay narrowly in playoff contention while securing the Eastern Conference title for the Lynx.

In the Western Conference the most critical matchup came on Matchday 22 with the Seraai Icestronauts coming in with a 1 point lead over in a four-way battle for the last playoff spot with the Tivali River Sharks, Arcticala Icetricity and Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes all level just one point behind them. The Icestronauts would complete a critical 1-0 victory over the River Sharks to provide some breathing room in the battle with the Icetricity also suffering defeat on the day to the Vilisorma Yutzies.

Heading into the final day of competition, the Eastern Conference was riding on the result of the Sile Crocodile and Obaobai Bombers. The Crocodile could shut out the Morata Valley Fog and advanced to the playoffs by securing at least a point in their final match. The Turoki Islanders were already assured a playoff spot while the Lopinka Lynx had already clinched the Conference Title.

In the West, the Vilisorma Yutzies and Lonngeylin Storm Surge were separated by a single point for the top spot with a bye on the line on the final matchday. The Seraai Icestronauts were in a comfortable position two poitns clear of the Alikki-Corra Aye-Ayes but could still technically drop out of the playoff zone.

The most exciting conclusion to a regular season in recent memory came when the Lonngeylin Storm Surge collected a late 3-2 victory to defeat the Vilisorma Yutzies and come from behind to clinch the Western Conference title. The Storm Surge earned it as the top scoring team in the regular season and would be joined by the Yutzies and Icetronauts in the playoffs. In the Eastern Conference, the Sile Crocodile and Turoki Islanders played out their final match as a goalless draw - a result that suited both teams just fine as neither was looking to concede much information as they prepared for a best of three playoff series between them.

Conference 'Wild Card' Playoffs:

It was a party in the Coliseum as the Sile Crocodile came in for their franchises first ever playoff game and won on the road against the Turoki Islanders to take a 1-0 lead in the series. Unfortunately for the Crocs, it would be as close as they would get to the Inter-Conference Playoff round, losing 5-4 in overtime in their first ever home playoff game then dropping the deciding game to the Islanders who would advance to the Semi-Finals.

The Western Conference Wild Card matchup was a thriller with the home team winning each match giving the advantage to the Vilisorma Yutzies. However, it was perhaps against the form of the series as for stretches the Seraai Icestronauts looked the better side. Both games that the Yutzies won at home were done so in Overtime while the Icestronauts had an impressive 7-3 victory for their lone win in front of their home fans.

In an incredible Inter-Conference Playoff round, both series would go a full seven games and one would require overtime before things were all said and done. The Western Conference Champion Lonngeylin Storm Surge would square off against the Turoki Islanders in a series that would see the Home Team get the advantage in every game. The Storm Surge set the tone with a 3-2 victory in the opener and would need the home ice advantage to get back to the Vilitan Hockey Championship. The home team would win each of the first six games leading to game seven back in Lonngeylin. There was no winner in regulation but the home crowd erupted when the winning goal was scored just three minutes into the overtime period sending the Storm Surge to the title round for the first time in modern history.

Unlike the other Semi-Final matchup, there was seemingly no home ice advantage to be had in the series between the defending champion Lopinka Lynx and the Vilisorma Yutzies. The Vilaye Energy Drink backed team would seemingly steal all the momentum opening up the series with a 3-0 victory on the road in Lopinka but saw all the momentum leak away in Vilisorma when the Lynx re-claimed home ice advantage with a 3-2 result. It wouldn't be until Game 4 that a team would finally claim victory on home ice with the Yutzies winning 5-3 over the Lynx. That would send the series back to Lopinka where the Lynx had not only failed to win - but failed to score a single goal on home ice yet in the series. That would change with five goals by the Lynx who kept the series going with their first home win. The Lynx would then head to Vilisorma and force game seven with a 2-1 victory. Their championship rein would come to an end in front of their home fans when the Lynx were upended 0-2 in Game Seven sending the Yutzies back to the Vilitan Hockey Championship. For the defending champions, it was a conclusion to the season that left more questions than asnwers as they were shutout in three out of four home games in the Semi-Final Round.

While the Championship would be the first attempt for the Long Island Storm Surge, the Yutzies would be getting their fourth shot after winning their first and only title during VHL Season 3. After out-gunning the Yutzies on the final day of the Regular Season, the Storm Surge would maintain home ice advantage for the Finals.

As they had done in the Semi-Finals, however, the Yutzies made a statement in the opening match of the series securing a 3-0 victory on the road to steal home ice from the Storm Surge. The Yutzies would then make the best of it winning in front of their own fans to take a 2-0 lead in the series.

The Storm Surge would finally earn their first ever Championship Series victory and did so on home ice with an exciting 4-3 victory in Game 3 to restore the competitiveness in the matchup. After a series of high scoring games the Yutzies took a 3-1 lead into Lonngeylin. The tone of the match changed completely with the championship on the line until the Storm Surge took the lead eight minutes into the third period, defending and holding on until the end to extend the series to a sixth game. Like Game five, Game six was a low scoring affair which was tied at one goal a piece at the end of regulation, sending the series to Overtime for the first time. The Yutzies would make the best of it getting the memorable Overtime Game Winner to clinch their second ever Vilitan Hockey Championship on home ice.

:: Vilisorma Yutzies Win 4-2 ::

With the title the Vilisorma Yutzies became the Fourth different team to win the Vilitan Hockey Championship at least twice all time with Yeaddin HC (4) the Seraai Icestronauts (3) and the Morata Valley Fog (2) the other repeat winners. Every Vilitan Hockey Champion has come from the Original 10 VHL Franchises and no team from the Expansion era has won the Vilitan Hockey Championship, with only the Obaobai Bombers during Season 11 advancing to the Final. The Sile Crocodile appearing in the playoffs for the first time ensures every VHL team has made the playoffs at least once. The runners-up Lonngeylin Storm Surge participated in the championship for the first time leaving only the Tivali River Sharks among Original 10 franchises who have yet to contest a Vilitan Hockey Championship series.

Again not much change in the league. Timesteam celebrated their title with a parade in the city, that no one was interested in, except the people who got angry because of the traffic jam. The Schoenwetter Scorpions were back on second place, promising to make it into the Play Offs of the HCL next time, after ending in the group stage last time, still being the best Kriegiersien team in international tournaments. The crazy cowards immediately rejuvenated their squad again, getting new talents, while the Scorpion City Scorpions got the last spot for the HCL, after The Pirates stole a decisive point from the Schoenwetter HC in the last match and were rewarded with a joint party on an Party Island from the Sponsor of the Scorpion City Scorpions for that. An Island the Pirates after that took over.
