How to read the scores
Knockout rounds are contested in two legs. The team listed first plays the first leg at home, and the scores follow the order teams are listed in. Thus, Mereti Colts won 2-1 at home and lost 1-0 away to JK Pasi Darazsak. With the score tied 2-2 on aggregate, JK Pasi Darazsak advances as they scored 1 away goal and Mereti Colts 0. A tie on away goals after the second game is broken by playing sudden-death overtime.

Byes are granted to teams based on 1) a number of slots based on their association’s coefficient ranking, 2) their placement in domestic league competition as submitted to the HCL administration. The draw for each round is seeded based on club coefficients. Higher-seeded teams play the first game at home. This is randomly decided if teams have the same coefficient.

Ice hockey is only played in certain parts of Kriegiersien and the main competitions are played in amateur leagues below the KHL. Most fans prefer to watch hockey there.

The only professional ice hockey league in Kriegiersien (KHL) now provides the starting places for the champions league, what is the only reason to pay the huge sums to be allowed to play there, as the presidents pet club has overtaken the competition with preemptive right to acquire every player his club wants. Only a few rich investors have taken the challenge to get a desired place to play in the Champions League for their franchise, to make some more money, play international games and maybe beat the national 'champion' Timesteam there.

2044-45 Darmeni Ice Hockey League Season

The duopoly that the Eau Claire Jets IF and Chuckio HC have held over the DIHL for the past five seasons has finally been broken. It started in the first round of the playoffs, when the 8th seeded Mansfield Maroons promptly dispatched the top seeded Jets in just four games. The defending champions never had a chance. Chuckio HC and Rogerton AIK meanwhile have met for the past four seasons in the Southern Conference Finals, with Chuckio HC winning all four times. In fact, Chuckio HC has been the Southern Conference's representative in the Lyons Cup Finals for all eight season of the DIHL's existence. So when Rogerton AIK forced a Game 7 and then won it 2-0, observers and pundits perked up at the first Lyons Cup Finals that wouldn't have Chuckio HC participating. With the Brady City Darmenians winning the North, the DIHL would crown a first time champion to conclude its 2044-45 season.

Brady City's only bright spot in the Finals was Game 1, where two Lamprecht Foerstner goals gave them the advantage they needed to go one up in the series. But it was all downhill from there as Rogerton won all four of the next four to win the series, 4-1. With the exception of Game 4, Rogerton's goal mined, Emilio Hernandez, played exceptionally well, allowing just seven goals in four games. Winger Arminius Rice led the way offensively, scoring five of Rogerton's thirteen goals and assisting on another five.
