That's... not quite how it works. First, you sign up in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=226926
Then, the host will post a thread for you to post a roster and roleplays in, the tournament is played out over the course of the next few weeks, then there's a break before the sign-up thread for the next World Bowl starts.

End point: No, you can't join the assembly RIGHT NOW. You'll have to be patient. But you can join the World Bowl itself and participate in it.

I'd also suggest making a bigger roster once the rp thread is started. As that's not a full team. :ugeek:

Hey. Sorry about not cutting off the votes and posting the results earlier; I was unexpectedly unable to access NS and the internet for any lengthy amount of time this weekend.

That said, I'm finally cutting off votes now. I'll post results from World Bowl shortly.

Okay, so...-drumroll-

Host Bid of World Bowl
- Karditan's bid is APPROVED by a vote of 6 (FOR), 0 (AGAINST), 1 (ABSTAIN)

Host Bid of Baptism of Iron
- New West Guiana's bid is APPROVED by a vote of 7 (FOR), 0 (AGAINST), 0 (ABSTAIN).

Seven World Bowl Assembly members submitted votes. Thank you for those who voted, and a wag of the finger for those members who did not.

congrats to Karditan for winning the WB20 bid *mutters something about ponies*

So for the BoI there are 27 BoI eligible, i'll keep the BoI sign-ups open for at lest two-three more days, as I want as many newer teams before i'd add puppets. My aim is for 32 teams.

Thanks to everyone who voted for me, and congratulations to NWG. I'm somewhat doubting that we're going to get five more BoI-eligible nations in three days at this point, but that would be fine with me as it would bring us to 66 entrants, one of the numbers I was aiming for. If the BoI goes underway with less, I'll cut off signups when it hits 64, as that's the nearest nice number.

If we don't get 5 more, for the BoI i'll just add puppets, first come first serve bias. Regardless i'm waiting until the 28th, plus this would put us on par with the heightened activity on the forum with the WCQ well underway.

Just noticed that Consigahria is listed in the Baptism of Iron instead of Chunnan. I was just about to RP and noticed that, so I figured that needed to be brought up quickly.

Also my country name has been spelled wrongly as "Suramani" instead of "Subramani" in BOI thread.

You are very correct, I had and within minutes posted the right, results. I had accidently posted the wrong results which follows up with the question above. I do apologize.

Yours however, is more of fault of reading properly anyways it happens, i'll try to remember when posting the days results to change it. Will forget though.

I'm currently close to being finished with the rankings for the next World Bowl (minus the current BoI of course), and have a couple questions:

1. A few pages back, NWG posted two formulas for calculating final ranks. Which should I use?
2. How should I treat the last WB's playoff structure. Should I count it as a seperate playoff round or what?

TBI Foreign Service wrote:
There's no problem here. Unlike the WCC-cycle events and the World Baseball Classic, the revised World Bowl formula doesn't care about how many games everyone else played; it uses straight winning percentage, multiplied by 10 for non-playoff teams and 15 for teams that advanced. (And yes, I treat ties as 1/2 win and 1/2 loss, just as the NFL did back in the day.)

The Babbage Islands wrote:
After giving the situation some more thought, I put forward the following modest proposal. It keeps ratings within the bounds of a familiar scale, remedies the perception of injustice with the not infrequent situation ASMV described (I outpointed Tocrowkia in the WB where I lost to them in the final), and preserves the ease of computation that is the hallmark of Arroza's design.

Proposal for revised World Bowl rankings

The champion of the World Bowl receives 15 ranking points.
Other teams that attain the knockout stage of the World Bowl receive (Winning Percentage) x 15 ranking points.
Teams that played in the World Bowl preliminary stage but failed to reach the knockouts receive (Winning Percentage) x 10 ranking points.
Participants in the Baptism of Iron receive 1/10 of the ranking points that would be earned for a corresponding World Bowl performance. These Baptism of Iron ranking points are used for an initial rank in the associated World Bowl. They are also included with the ranking points earned in that World Bowl in future calculations as outlined below.
A team's full World Bowl ranking is then equal to the sum of:
a. Ranking points earned in the last World Bowl.
b. One-half of ranking points earned in the next-to-last World Bowl.
c. One-quarter of ranking points earned in the second-from-last World Bowl.

As far as I know there is only one ranking formula and it is the above, the same one Qaz used for post-WB18.

#1- which ever one gives me the highest rank... TBIs formula should be enough.

#2- each round as its own.

New West Guiana, what times can we expect cutoffs? I was surprised to see when we were cutoff for MD2 earlier today, two hours earlier then when MD1 was cutoff on Saturday? Surprised you would do that on Easter morning, particularly.

Thanks!

So guys, what is the legality of zombies playing football? I fear many of us once the wb starts may have no living left to play.

I for one support an amendment showing support for zombie players, and special rules to help accommodate for that fact that they are kind of sorta dead. 8)
