Do we have a CTE protocol in the World Bowl? I kept her in because her absence was explained and we weren't sure when she'd be back because of wedding things.

Usually we promote the next highest placed team from the group the CTE'd nations was in and adjust accordingly. But I don't think we have a protocol about it offically.

I assume the first tie-breaker for the Pools is head-to-head record between teams? I'm just trying to do the math for the RP, because if that's correct, I've already clinched a spot in the next round...as have Qazox and Karditan.

Yeah, it goes H2H, then PD, then PA. I'll work out quarterfinal berths after the next scorination.

Speaking of next scorination...I can't actually guarantee that I'll have Internet access over the next couple of nights, as my coaches have decided to spring a pre-regatta camp on us. So, if I can get Internet access, the cutoff will come back to 7/8pm NZDT (6/7am UTC), as I won't be able to be up so late, but if I can't, just watch the Everything Thread for details about an approaching cutoff.

Sorry about this guys, hopefully I'll be able to get some internet down there.

Incredibly sorry about the long delay between scores, but I'm back for good now. I was staying in a place without cellphone reception, let alone internet, so was unable to scorinate.

Will get back to regular schedule at about 10pm NZDT tonight (9am GMT).

You mean I spent the last week RPing about how Qazox was the only team left and therefore by default won the World Bowl for nothing???

ZING! :D

Glad you're back, M7.
Also, I believe I have now locked up the Pool D title. So MD5 for me is just going to be about seeding.

Whoops, thought my bye was on MD4. Oh well. Didn't affect all that much. (Finally got that elusive 3-0 win! Now to wait for a 2-0 win...)

I thought it'd be nice to try something different to last time I hosted the World Bowl. So I went with this format, at the very least it gives the RPers a bit more to do for a few more days.

With one exception, every playoff game since I got to the championship that one time has been an upset :p

If anything, at least when one loses in the normal format, it's done, here, it drags on. But my team has seen worse, (and other teams have seen worse), and at least I'm not the only team to lose it's perfect season to this round, so I'll shut up.

I'm honestly not a big fan of this format. I'm glad we tried it, but if I were to vote between this format and the more traditional one, I would vote for the latter.

I'm okay with it (I wouldn't object too much if it was used again) but I'd have to agree; in the future, I'm thinking the traditional format may be the better option.

That said, I'm glad we tried this. And you've done a very good job, M7.

Even in the realm of non-serious formats...that's going too far. Full double round-robin with a double-elimination tournament of the full entry pool should suffice.

Or just have the only team to have competed in every edition of the World Bowl win it! That's the fair thing to do.

That doesn't sound biased at all.
