I know, but I've seen the star logo, and compared it to the Olympic logo. The colours are meant to represent 5 continents, when we have 100's. Therefore after my tests, I suggest changing it to a torch.

Who said it wasn't a torch... from above? :p Logo is the logo.

That's why it's a star and not rings, the colors are just representing diversity in NS Sports, united under one star.

Cafundeu wrote:Alright... I promised to, so I'm doing it - Lasft's bid for the next Olympics:

Scorination and Schedule
Nothing new in this part. Xkoranate will be used, and for entries and sign-up process the same method of previous Olympics will be used, with the 0.5 average limit still on and the same limit on number of entries.

As for scorination, the idea is to scorinate only once per day, for an entire month. The competition will be long this way, but that's the necessity in order for me to guarantee a fine hosting process. The schedule will depend on when the announcement of Olympics' host will be released, but the plan is to have it as early as possible, early August as the worst deadline.

Stance on demonstration events
Practically any event that receives enough support will be transformed into a demonstration event, and they can be freely suggested as long as the one suggesting gives all the necessary data in order to the event to be held (set of scores, way of scorinating, competition format, etc.). The necessary support will be from 6-8 users, depending on the amount of sports being suggested.

Less-important part below:
The Country and the City
Cafundéu is a country fanatic for sports, and one with a remarkable history in the Olympic Games. Competing since the II Winter Olympics, right now Cafundéu has the status of being the nation with most gold medals and overall medals in the history of the Games, with the country's best performance being in the III Summer Olympics. The country has already hosted one Olympic Games, the V Winter Olympics in São Jorge, and it was only a matter of time before the COC - Comitê Olímpico Cafundelense decided to attempt to host the Summer Olympics. There was a long time of hesitation, but at last the awaited Lasft bid is being released.

Lasft is the second biggest city of Cafundéu, only behind the capital of the country Cafundó do Juta. Capital of one of the eight states of Cafundéu, one that is called Lasft too, it is the centre of business and economic activity of the country. The biggest companies investing in the country have their headquarters in Lasft, and the commerce is intense, attracting tourists by its own. But there is more in Lasft than just money and business: the city has some nice beaches, even though some are being affected by pollution. Located on the seaside, Lasft gets crowded, even more than usual, during the summer. But there is another specific characteristic of this huge metropolis that made it a natural choice for tentative host of the Olympic Games: Lasft is considered the sports capital of Cafundéu, and is always holding decisive events of national and international competition. Due to this, the city has a lot of facilities already built for an Olympics.

Facilities
Due to the intense sporting activity in Lasft, with the city hosting many competitions, most of the facilities intended to be used for the Olympic Games already exist. But, in order to provide the best experience for the athletes and supporters, many will be improved and a few will be built. Let's take a look on the main places:

Obelisco Monumental
The 300,000 capacity stadium is known worldwide, as it has already hosted three World Cup finals to date, and several other important matches in the footballing world's history. Home of Petardos S/A, Cafundéu's most famous domestic club, the stadium is always being improved, and no plans are being made to change its infrastructure for the Olympics. This stadium would host both the opening and closing ceremony, plus the final match of the association football events. It may also host one or another shooting event if necessary.

Estádio Anchieta
Home of SC Lasft, this 60,000 capacity stadium will host most of the association football's matches and can also be used in several athletics' events. In truth, it is already the most used venue for the national athletics' championships. In case demonstration events in football or rugby be held, it will also host these, with the organizators having to desperately paint the field and curse the ones asking for these events.

Arena Terrão
Although the Estádio Anchieta has all the necessary to host the athletics' events, the Arena Terrão will be built in order to receive the main athletics' competitions. Focused only in athletics, the construction of such an arena will greatly benefit the supporters and athletes, who may finally say that there is a place designed only for their favourite sport.

Ginásio Cavadinha
Used only for volleyball, the Ginásio Cavadinha is probably the most modern sports-related structure in Cafundéu. With a high maintenance cost, it is hardly used in Cafundéu, but the Olympic Games will be the perfect opportunity for the politicians to say that it will have some use.

UFC (Universidade Federal Cafundelense)'s Facilities
The Lasft campus of the UFC, Cafundéu's main university, has many facilities for use in sports. The sports that are lesser known in Cafundéu and do not have other facilities available in the city will be held at the university, as well as others for which the university has the best place. Some examples include Badminton, Rowing and Gymnastics.

Complexo Aquático Peixe-Boi
Place of the swimming events and other water-related competitions, this complex is already top class and won't be changed for the Olympics. All the pools have the requested sizes and have their water temperature controlled. Also, the water used does not come from the sewers, like what happens in smaller cities of Cafundéu.

Praia do Farofeiro
The selected beach where usually Beach Volleyball arenas are built on, and the same will happen for the Olympic Games. It is a very, very, but very crowded beach, but security strategies will be implemented to not let this harm the quality of the games. The sea, of course, is where Sailing events will be held. Also, the aquatic marathon will start in this beach, and the organizators are making sure that no sharks will be around.

Jóquei Clube Sangue Azul
An elite club for the lovers of Equestrian and Archery, it will be where these two competitions will be held. Expect very expensive tickets for these events, since the administrators of the club will be responsible for charging the prices. Shooting events are also planned to be in the club.

Clube de Campo Irmãos Metralha
A more popular club, it is the top place in all Cafundéu for Tennis, even Table Tennis. The courts are perfect, and the main Cafundelense athletes train there. As the club has many other facilities, it may even host another event, but no one is sure... it will depend on the state of the other existing places in Lasft, or if it'll be cheaper to host there.

Cassino Bons Investimentos
If boxing is a Olympic sport, then the Cassino Bons Investimentos has to be the place for the fights to take place. This way the fans can lose money... erm, I mean, entertain themselves before the fights and watch them in a place designed for it. Wrestling events will be also done in the cassino.

AREHSCA (Associação da Rede Hoteleira do Sul Cafundelense)
The main hotels of Lasft are part of the AREHSCA, the association of hotels of Cafundéu's southern part, in which the Lasft state is located. Since Lasft is a huge metropolis and a common destination for tourists during all year, it is believed that the city has the necessary infrastructure to receive the media, athletes and supporters.

Olympic Village
Unfortunately for the athletes and many other people, the Olympic Village in Lasft will have to be built away from the main sites of the city and of the most used facilities in the Games. This because there isn't any more space for a Village close to the facilities! Sorry guys.

Will you suspend taxes for olympic visitors or will we once again have to go through the whole Taxgate ordeal...

Is it really necessary for people to quote host bids in their entirety?

Anyway from the Official event list for the Games of the Olympiad...

Olympic Council wrote:Events in bold are part of the base list, and must be included in any Games of the Olympiad. Other events are on the extended list, and may be included at the hosts’ discretion. Other medal events may be included only if explicitly stated in the hosting bid.

A number of track cycling events (individual pursuits, kierin and points races) have been taken off the base list in favour of the omnium and excluded from the extended list, would any of the prospective hosts be prepared to have those events as additional medal events?

A Co-Host Bid for the Games of the VI Summer Olympiad in Queenstown, Carasatoga and Horuk, Bergnovinaia

Image

Scorination
Xkoronate will be used, as usual, and the same sign up methods, number of sign ups and the limit of .5 will still be in use for these games as in the previous games. Nations will be allowed no more than 500 competitors per delegation, and only 1 puppet nation is allowed per nation that has previously competed in the Olympic games. All puppet delegations must not have more than 250 competitors.

Experience
Both Carasatoga and Bergnovinaia have hosted international sporting competitions, as well as been heavily involved members and RPers in others. Carasatoga has hosted the World Volleyball Expo (v.1 and v.2), as well as an indoor soccer championship and domestic soccer league. Bergnovinaia has hosted numerous tennis championships, some ITA sanctioned, others not. Bergnovinaia also created the International Tennis Association (now taken over by Civil Citizenry) and still remains an active member and serves on the ITA board. Bergnovinaia also created the Nationstates International Volleyball League (NIVL) which died to do a lack of interest at the time by member nations for inagural tournaments.

Both Carastaoga and Bergnovinaia have been active RPers at other international competitions they have taken part in, and I (Bergnovinaia) have created a successful radio program--the Bergnovinaia Sports Radio Network (BSRN)--which broadcasts sporting news to the whole world on a fairly regular basis.

Schedule
The schedule will be the same as in previous games, with perhaps two to three more days added to make the load somewhat easier. It would begin as soon as possible and it would last through most of August, perhaps into September. I (Bergnovinaia) may scorinate twice a day early on in the games to make the load lighter near the end of the games.

Demonstration Sports
The view on demonstration events is that they are welcome to be proposed, but there must be a sign-up of at least 8 nations before it will be considered. Also, if there are more than 4 nations that oppose the demonstration event, it will NOT be played in Queenstown or Horuk. The Olympic hosts are, however, willing to allow scorination of demonstration events that are not included in the games in other nations if there is the sign-up of 8 nations.

An Exact List of Which Sports Will be Played Where

The list of Summer Olympic sports have been divided by the co-hosts, Carasatoga and Bergnovinaia, and have generated the list below:

City Information

Queenstown, Carasatoga (Some information may not apply because the break up of sports between co-hosts):

Queenstown is a city of about 32,000 year-round residents set in the center of Carasatoga on the Plains of Glory. Within the city limits is Queenstown International Airport (QNT) and CR-2 and CR-7, an interstate highway that leads North to the capital city of Caroga and South to Edmonton and Alexander. The Apoka Nation Reserve is also only three miles from downtown, home to many gambling institutions and cultural centers. The city center wraps around Lower Lake Queens, trisected by the North and South Queens Rivers, North Lake Queens also lies in the metropolitan area in Northern Queenstown. It has been named the most beautiful town in Carasatoga nine times, second only to Port Victoria's record twelve titles. Queenstown is home to the Carasatogan Olympic training complexes for all summer events, and also the Carasatogan youth sports academy. It is home to the Commonwealth's largest sports complex, spanning larger than the city itself, that is divided into four districts including:
South District

Queenstown International Speedway-More than likely will not be used in the VI Olympic Games, this is the largest speedway in Carasatoga housing a super speedway and a road track. It is so large that it itself makes up almost the entire South District.

Fusion Park-The facilities for Queenstown University's Baseball and Softball teams is here. Last year, the school allowed the complex to be taken over by the Carasatoga Olympic Council for these games, and as a result they have been renovated beautifully, able to house both sports with a capacity of 108,773. This complex also includes a training park next door with 5 fields and spectator space available.

East District
This is where most events would take place.

Olympic Stadium-Home to the American Football, Lacrosse, Clayball and Track and Field facilities, the only one which may be of use being the Track and Field facilities. This would also host the opening and closing ceremonies, as it is the largest outdoor stadium in Carasatoga, holding a maximum capacity of 321,628. It's unique shape has also given it the title of Carasatoga's Most Beautiful Building Award in 2009, when it was constructed.

Galaxy Field-Unusual for most Olympic venues, Galaxy Field was made for, and specifically houses the facilities for Association Football. All soccer matches will be played here, with a capacity of 98,253.

Giants Arena-With a seating of 65,000, this will hold the Basketball competition.

V Place-With a seating of 44,522 and four courts, this would hold the Volleyball competition.

Sand Sports Center-This stadium is floored with sand and is the home to both Beach Soccer and Volleyball with capacities of 35,900 and 26,226 respectively.

Glory Range-This would hold all shooting and other outdoor skills competitions. Spectator space will hold 3,700.

Queenstown Gardens-This complex is home to Carasatoga's most beautiful Tennis courts and Golf course, along with separate facilities for Fencing, Badminton, Table Tennis, Boxing and Wrestling.

North District
This is home to all water competitions, sometimes called the Queen's Crown because it lies upon Upper Lake Queens.

Upper Lake Queens-Home to the Rowing and Sailing competitions.

The Crown Pools-A beautiful, state of the art facility that is home to the Swimming and Diving facilities, newly built in 2020 for the Commonwealth Games. Capacities for both centers is 34,100.

West District
This is the only District that does not house any athletics complexes.

North Star Center-This is a training grounds and gymnasium for the Olympic athletes.

Olympic Village-This is where the athletes competing in the games will be housed, with adequate security and more than adequate amenities for the visitors.

Olympic Center-This is the center of the games, where the flame will be housed for the duration of the games, and is also on a 1,500 acre park newly made for these games that sits atop the banks of the Northern part of Lower Lake Queens.

Not in Queenstown
The only event not held in the city of Queenstown would be the Equestrian Competition, which will be held at the Apoka Nation Country Club, on the Apoka Nation Reservation. This is the home to Carasatoga's most beautiful, most prestigious and largest horse show, Equestrian competition, and is also home to the Apoka Grand Prix, the most watched Horse Race in Carasatoga. Because this facility is less than five miles away from the city center, the Olympic Council believed it was good fashion to allow the Apoka Nation to host an event, as they will be considered a co-host nation at the opening ceremonies.

Horuk, Bergnovinaia (Copied from National Website):

Situated on the coast of Vandana Bay and streching far into the Sanchika Heights, the city of Horuk and its suburbs make up one of the largest cities in Bergnovinaia. The City of Horuk has 28,976,347 people in it (2011 census) and counting the surrounding suburbs the population easily exceeds 38 million people. Four main highways run through Horuk. The bay highway (I-17) Runs north-south and crosses over the bay at the Majestic Bridge. The Majestic Bridge and I-17 help connect the North most tip of the bay, the suburb of Luz del Mar, to the Southmost tip of the bay, the suburb of Golan. The I-10 runs south to northeast starting in the suburb of Red Plains and ending in the suburbs in the Northern Sanchika Heights. Branching out of the I-10, the Loop 110 meets with the I-10 in downtown Bergnovinaia, runs through the oldtown district, and meets up with the I-10 again in the Sanchika Heights. Also, branching out of the I-10, the I-57 runs west-east and takes drivers out of Horuk, through the Frandata Pass in the Sanchika Heights in the east.

Horuk, Bergnovinaia is known across the world for its devotion and expertise and devising one of the most effiencient mass transit systems in the world. Aside from a plethora of bus and ferry stops--traditionally old methods of mass transit around Horuk, Horukian govnerment officials have been convinced in recent years to develop the costly, but magnificent Bay Area Subway and Monorail System (abbreviated BASMS). Although a coslty porject to take up, costing Bergnovinaian tax payers nearly 300 million euros, BASMS has already paid for itself and raked in a two-fold increase in revenue, as well as easing transport around Horuk and bringing the city some international acclaim. The BASMS has stops approximately every 4 blocks and at all sites considered to be important either to tourists or city dwellers on a day-to-day basis. BASMS consists primarily of subway systems, however, monorail systems are used where the ground is unable to tilled easily or where the terrain is too unlevel (i.e. the Sanchika Heights).

Oldtown Horuk--"An Addict's Dream":

Bergnovinaia's famous Oldtown district, nicknamed the "Green Light" district for all its dazzling lights and thrills, attracts tourists from all over the world. The district is famous not only for its flashing lights and spectacular feats in advertising, but also for prostitution, gambling, drug use, and partying. Not consequentially, the Green Light district has been nicknamed the "Addict's Dream" by many of Bergnovinaia's more conservative citizens.

Although not directly outlawed, Bergnovinaia's stance on gambling, sex in the form of prostitution, drug usage, and excessive partying are all frowned upon by Bergnovinaian authorities and government officials. However, despite all the finger wagging by Bergnovinaian authorities, the Green Light district has been a popular inner-city getaway for celebrities and government officials alike. The main street that runs thorugh the Green Light district is Mill Avenue. The Green Light district bans unsupervised minors from walking through the district, and this is strictly enforced by security personnel at various checkpoints around Oldtown.

Downtown Bergnovinaia:

On the edge of the Vandana Bay on the west most point of Horuk lies downtown Horuk. The downtown district is home to many of the Bergnovinaian financial, government, and coporate buildings, as well as a variety of sporting complexes and a spacious marina.

Located on Central avenue and Coastline parkway lies "Estacion Central," the primary subway changing station in the BASMS. From Estacion Central, communters can transfer trains to any direction on the BASMS, including long commuting trains that go out of Horuk.

Also in downtown is Zunkowsky International Airport (ZIX) which is Hourk's primary international airport. Zunkowsky International Airport handles upwards of 3 million passangers a day, on both domestic and international flights.

Luz del Mar--Bergnovinaia's Most Affluent Suburb:

Situated at the Northwest corner of the city and the bay on the Ingles Peninsula, Luz del Mar is, by far, Horuk's most wealthy and affluent suburb. Famous for its peace and tranquility, the suburb has become a popular spot for Bergnovinaian elites to purchase a second home, as well as wealthy people abroad. Luz del Mar has only 60% full-time residents of the potentital 3 million, and has tough ordinacnes on cigaretee smoking, drug usage, and excess partying (through a noise ordinace). However, Luz del Mar is a popular site for celebrities and elites to host parties, just of a more subtle nature.

Venue Information:

**Olympic Village--Situated in Luz del Mar, the Olympic village has been especially constructed in hope of hosting this or a future Olympics. The village has numerous luxury housing units for all the competitors, and modest housing quarters for Olympic staff and journalists. Security will be provided via the District 3 police station, just a block down from the Olympic village, as well as "Keepsafe," a private owned and operated security company. Elogant and luxurious meals will be provided and catered through three of Bergnovinaia's finest restaraunts: Lovanne's (Lead by Head Chef Micheal Grandeur), Pesto Gondola (Lead by Head Chef, Leonardo Vanncianno), and Toratno's (Lead by Head Chef, Julia Tortano).**

**Olympic Stadium--Located on 3rd Avenue in downtown Horuk, the Olympic Stadium, "El Estadio de Gloria", will be the site of opening and closing ceremonies (so in conjunction with Carasatogan NOC authorities). This stadium can seat upwards of 360,000 people, including extra seating on the field for Olympic delegations. Aside from being used for the opening and closing ceremonies, the stadium will also be used for both Association Football matches, as well as Field Hockey matches. There are 7 other soccer/field hockey pithces surround the main stadium that can all seat upwards of 20,000 people at a time.

**Flocking Meadows Park--Located in the Horukian suburb of Golan, Flocking Meadows Park is a large, open park that can be used easily for the archery competition.**

**Rotnanda Complex--Located just northeast of the Green Light district in Bergnovinaia, the Rotanda Complex on Grand Parkway North will be the site of the Badminton competitions. Aside from 18 side courts that can each hold 1,400 spectators a piece, there are two center courts that can hold 15,000 spectators.**

**Paul Sabac Track--Located on the bay on Coastline Parkway, the Paul Sabac Track, named after famous Bergnovinaina BMX competitor Paul Sabac, will be the site of the BMX competitions. The track can suit up to 30,000 spectators and offers a variety of different courses for competition.**

**La Trifecta Edeficia--Located just north of the Paul Sabac Track on Coastline Parkway is the La Trifecta Edificia, a Bergnovinaian site that will be used for the indoor track cycling events. This facility boasts of 3 spacious tracks, each able to seat 20,000 spectators.**

**Mt. Dankar--Located in the Sanchika Heights on the Eastern outskirts of Hourk is Mt. Dankar, the site of the mountain biking events.**

**Road Cycling events will be held all acorss Horuk, and the city has spacious roads and many potentital plans ready for races. Upon winning the bid, the Bergnovinaia NOC shall release the race routes.**

**The Cubicle--Located just five blocks east of the eastern most part of the Luz del Mar suburb, the Cubicle will be the site of the Fencing, Judo, Taekwando, and Weightlifting competitions. This facility boasts of upwards of forty rooms with adequate padding for these competitions, and each can seat about 1,000 people. There is one main competition room that can seat 15,000 spectators.**

**The Bergnovinaian Institue for Culutural and Historical Studies (BICHS)--This local Horuk college will be the hosting site of the gymnastic competitions. BICHS boasts of one of the best gymnastic 1,stadiums in the nation, with all the adequate equipment and padding, as well as seating for 36,542 spectators.**

**The Zunkowsky Tennis Center--Located just off the I-10 in downtown Horuk is the Zunkowsky Tennis Center. Named after the late Prime Minister and tennis player, Micheal Zunkowsky, this facility has been the host of numerous ITA sanctioned and non-sanctioned tennis championships. This facility boasts of 34 courts that can each seat about 1,475 spectators and three center courts that can each hold 41,000 spectators.**

**La Universidad de Horuk--This will be the site of the Table Tennnis competition in Hourk. La Universidad de Horuk is Horuk's largest college with 72,345 students, and the main gymnasiums facility will be used for this competition. The gymnasium can hold up to 42 tables at a time, and can seat about 8,760 people. Additional seating will be provided on the main floor beginning at the round of 16 for each event.**

You may wish to review the base events list so that your bid will actually be eligible for consideration.

Edit: Also, you must state which of you is to become president of the Olympic Council if you successfully complete the Games.

Thanks for all the help! :) We'll work on who become the president whenever Carasatoga comes back online. Until then, I think I have successfully revised the events list to include accurate weights, events, etc. We kind of used the events from the previous Olympics as our base group. Whoops.

Questions for Carasatoga and Bergnovinaia. Why do you want to host the Summer Olympics? What hosting experience do either of you have with multi-sport events on NS? Why do you intend to take on the largest single sports event possible on NS as your maiden entry into "mainstream" hosting?

Although I, myself, have no experience hosting multi-sports events, I want to host because I know I can do it, and I am really excited to finally get Carasatoga on the world stage, and so maybe people will spell it right. :p Everyone always says that they have trouble keeping schedule (and I know in my tournaments I have too, but that's out of my hands) but as I would be scorinating my events during the day, and because Bergnovinaia graciously offered to co-host, I have no problem, no conflicts in my time for the rest of the summer because I am home from school. I have become more and more involved the past month or so, because I have had so much extra time, and NS Sports have pretty much become my life. The culmination of this would be to host the Olympic Games. I feel I am ready and more than eager to do so.

It's just... my IC nation is so involved in sports, and has already hosted Olympic-like games, and it, I, just need a chance to show that on the 'real' stage of the NS Summer Olympiad... please. :)

With all due respect, that's not a very convincing argument. I wish your bid the best but at this point I feel Cafundéu presents the better option of an established host who is less likely to mess up at such a level as he's already done a Winter Olympics.

At this rate, unless something bad happens or another great bidder comes along, I'm sure Cafendu will win.

That is really my main reason... because I have no major conflicting things this summer... in fact, I'll be on vacation for 6 weeks with a lot of free time.

The Confrederated Clans (and other Confrederated Bodys) of the Free Bears of Bears Armed
(includes The Ursine NorthLands) Demonym = Bear[s]; adjective = ‘Urrsish’.
Population = just under 20 million. Economy = only Thriving. Average Life expectancy = c.60 years. If the nation is classified as 'Anarchy' there still is a [strictly limited] national government... and those aren't "biker gangs", they're traditional cross-Clan 'Warrior Societies', generally respected rather than feared.

Erm, according to my research, Carasatoga is in the region of Gay, and Bergnovina is not. If the regions are next door, I don't know.

Uhm, no... What we worked out is that each nation will only send their athletes to the nation in which they are competing, but no, the nations are actually not that far from each other. if this was RL, Bergnovinaia would be Northern Italy, and Carasatoga would be like Connecticut, and we will make sure those events are not near each other on the schedule, making it a little bit easier for your fans to travel between the two. Plus, air fare will be included in tickets, it is sort of like a really big shuttle service between the two.

Why does it matter what regions we're in, I don't RP my region, I RP my own planet on which Carasatoga lies.

OOC: Really, what does it matter if our naitons are willing to cover transport expenses and reservations?

ICly it makes sure that the games are run smoothly and theres not any major problems for the fans and participants. OOCly, nothing.

Well, I'll have to talk to Carasatoga, but I'm sure we can probably work something out where ICly our nations are next to each other.

A Co-Host Bid for the Games of the VI Summer Olympiad in Queenstown, Carasatoga and Horuk, Bergnovinaia

Carasatoga is in RED, while Bergnovinaia is in blue... even though they are both spoiled. :p
