The "normal" Olympic cycle of having the Summer Olympics in the northern hemisphere summer and the Winter Olympics in northern hemisphere winter is currently a bit out of whack. As it stands, I believe Free Republics is planning a mid-December to mid-January timeline for the Summer Olympics. It's possible the Winter Olympics could take place in perhaps April, and another Summer Olympics in say, August, to get the cycle back in order, but that will all be up to the bidders for those events. We'll get back to the "normal" cycle eventually. Maybe. Perhaps. NSSports hasn't been very good at doing things "on time" as of late.

No worries! I just hate missing out on the Winter Olympics in particular and I think I missed the past three

Just wanted to acknowledge that I've seen the results of the vote and want to thank all 16 voters.

The signup thread will be up sometime this week once the new Signup Creator is ready with all essential functionality (such as adding entries, removing entries, determining your delegation's average skill modifier and producing a final signup that you can copy and paste into the signup thread). Since it will be a web app, I will be able to update it with additional functionality as I have time to do so.

Once the signup thread goes up, you are strongly encouraged to read the instructions carefully before signing up. The event list has changed significantly from previous Olympics and there may be some other changes from previous editions of the Olympics as well.

That's correct regarding the timeline of the Summer Olympics.

As for the next Winter Olympics, if someone wishes to start it around early March or so and has their bid up by around the end of the year or so, I'd be willing to open a host vote immediately after I assume the Olympic Council presidency.

Question for Free Republics regarding Karate weight classes:
KUMITE
Men’s 67 kg (1)
Men’s 75 kg (1)
Men’s Over 84 kg (1)
Women’s 55 kg (1)
Women’s 68 kg (1)
Women’s Over 68 kg (1)
Should the largest Men's weight class not be Over 75 kg instead of 84 kg? Also, it appears the Women's weight classes will be 55 kg, 61 kg and Over 61 kg, rather than the 68 kg listed in the bid.

I'm not sure why I made typos like that, but the error is mine and I apologize for that. I will alter the extended list accordingly.

This does not really affect scorination, the only thing that changes is what the events are called.

Signups for the Games of the XIII Olympiad are now open!

I have requested that the entry limits not be removed or altered in any way because my goal is to create a program that will automate the task of checking signups and it will be significantly easier to write if it can expect that every line either contains an entry or an unmodified heading describing what event the next entry is for.

I believe the list of events with style modifiers is comprehensive though I need to doublecheck this at some point. If anyone finds errors in the signup thread or in the signup creator, please let me know ASAP.

Then you for creating a number of different programs to sign up with. As a mobile phone user, signs up took extra long.
This sign up sheet looks amazing. And I am testing it out now

Footy - Australian Football.

I guess this is not the biggest deal but...why wouldn't you call Australian rules football, y'know, Australian rules football?

Underwater hockey is a real sport so it might also be worth linking to the relevant Wikipedia page.

I've added a link to the Wikipedia article on underwater hockey.

The idea behind referring to Australian football as "footy", American football as "gridiron", Gaelic football as "caid", etc. is to avoid referencing RL nations.

Hey, FFR, I was testing the Signup Creator and I haven't found the option to create Unified Team. It's okay if I use this one (and make the Demonstration Events in a separated spreadsheet)?

There were a number of significant changes to the medal event list this year, so I wouldn't recommend using that.

There's no Unified Team option in the Signup Creator as of right now because adding it would have delayed the opening of signups.

That's the old Signup Creator from either the 10th or 11th Summer Olympics.

The new signup creator doesn't work with IE. Do you still have it in spreadsheet form anywhere?

IE? I doubt that any extensions would work on that old piece of junk to say the least. I use Firefox and I heard Chrome is pretty good (especially if you're on a Mac).

I'd like to add in unified team support but I'm not sure I'll have the time to do it since I need to prioritize the signup checking program and the new scorinators.

So w/ the NSCF over and AOCAFs not starting for a couple of weeks... A little bit of down time.

I shall take advantage of that to do the Banijan Olympic Trials. Largely a domestic thread thing, of course.

Of course, this will be a big time Bnaijan event. All kinds of athletes, participation in all kinds of individual events. And trials, of course, for select national teams.

During the event, there is an opportunity to showcase the national teams of Banija participating in the Olympiad. If anyone wants to send guest teams to the Olympic Trials to play any of the Banijan Olympic teams, please, send me a telegram.

Also- there's no hard timeline to this, as it will be RPed as I go and as I have time, of course, but it will be approximately within the next week or so is when it'll start.

Banijan teams that need opponents(each team needs 2-3).
