There is no timeline; bids can be made at any time. Depending on when Kry feels like it, a host vote will occur. Then signups will open.

Cheers Liv. I'm not planning on bidding, I was just curious.

I'm thinking of a host vote in middish December. So just four months or so to go!

masochism would be hosting both the Summer and Winter games in the same year. CH is the only one crazy/stupid/brave/ballsy enough to have done so, so far.

Winter Olympics has less events, therefore theoretically taking less time (I may draw a laugh for that). So I think I'd be willing to make a Winter bid if the time allows me to.

I think we should have a way for people who miss the cutoff date for registration to be able to participate, within reasonable limits. They still can submit as many athletes as they can, but instead of having a limit of an average of 50, they have to have an average of oh say 35. In addition, there should be two cutoff dates:

A normal one, like the one we already have.

And the second one being for those who missed the regular cutoff (like what happened to me during this year's Summer Olympics, where I missed the deadline due to personal issues such as my sister getting in a wreck, problems at work, difficulty finding a new job, etc. I missed the deadline by a couple of days, and didn't realize I had missed it until about two days after the cutoff).

However, once the opening ceremony starts, no one can submit a roster after that.

That sounds fair right?

No. It has always been up to the hosts to set their own dates, and they are the only ones who should decide if late entries are acceptable. We should not be opening up a Pandora's Box where we could get an avalanche of "late-but-not-quite-late" entries.

Just my own opinion as someone who takes part in the Games, and not as Council VP.

I second Liv's opinion, even though my involvement in actually hosting the games is zero (besides that failed co-host bid... yeah).

Anyways, the chaos that would be created if there were two deadlines, but a penalty, would just be crazy... I, personally, would probably mix up the deadlines, knowing my organization skills.

Well, it was a thought on how to make things more fair that's all.

However, if possible we need to make sure people are aware of when the cutoff dates are. Maybe in addition to posting here, the cutoff dates can be sent to various region websites (like TEP's site for example).

Again, I see no reason to legislate a requirement for doing so unless each individual host wishes to.

I think the current system is totally, to use your terminology, "fair". Because you (or anyone else) misses the cutoff due to RL incidents does not make the current system "unfair".

I'd just like to enquire rules about Min-Maxing, whereby nations enter primarily athletes with 100 & 0 athletes as opposed to any other numbers. I appreciate it is at the host disgression, but I I'd just like clarification overall.

Exactly that— host discretion. Potential hosts are expected to clarify rules on min-maxing in their bids; if it is not mentioned then the assumption is that the host will allow it.

Out of curiosity, are Rugby Sevens and Golf going to be added to the NS Olympics, in the same way they are being added in RL ??

I would assume so, but I think in the end, it's all up to whoever hosting? Needs some clarification on that myself.

I do not expect it to be formally added to the official "base list" until it actually takes place in 2016 (the same way we did not add new events at Vancouver when they were first announced). A prospective host may, if he declares such in his bid, include both sports as medal events.

Another question related to that, out of curiosity. Does the same happen with the events that were not contested in Vancouver 2010 but will be in Sochi 2014?
