Because hosting the NS Olympics is such a monumental task, they're held annually (unlike most of the other major competitions held in NS Sports); one winter games and one summer games each year. The winter games are usually in January/February, while the summer games are held any time between June and September (the VI Summer Olympiad concluded in September).

At least it's not every two years. :p

The actual Olympics are held every four years. I look forward to the NS Olympics each year, so if they weren't annual then I'd be pretty upset.

No, I meant olympics in general. There was one in 2008, one in 2010, one in 2012, and there will be one in 2014.

Oh, I see.

As I've said before, I'd like to host the Olympics one year but I just simply do not have the time.

Are you just looking for Olympic-Style Games, Multi-Sport Medal Games, or the actual Olympics?

Because we had the First Winter Paralympic Games organized by Liventia, the Winter-X Games and Summer-X organized by Qazox, the First World Games organized by Commerce Heights, etc.

What other multi-sport events do we have, which aren't limited to certain regions?

Water World Championships hosted by Civil Citizenry is the only one I can think of at the moment.

#1- We're having the winter games come up in February, if you're still around then, then you'd be more than welcome.

#2- Sign-up for the winter games, post a roster, and RP, and i think you'd be in.

There's also the Games of the Water Rose (something like that) and the International Sports League.

After reading all these jumbled ideas, it occurred to me that we could significantly shorten this by adding a UN-style General Assembley every month or so. All members of the council would meet and discuss ideas brought up by others and their own members. During this Assembley, host nations could also be appointed.

I don't think we need to introduce this. Currently, there's no problem with the way things are working and I don't see why to change that. If it ain't broken, why fix it?

I'm not sure you quite understand just how we work here — so it would be a good idea for you to actually find out, before trying to propose amendments to the way we work.

See, thing is, we only want experienced people to vote, so we require that you participate in an event, before you can vote on it. Once you participate in an event, like the Olympic Games, you get to vote for whomever gets to host the next Olympic Games, which is a pretty damn big power. Granted, I haven't used mine yet, I'm still getting the hang of it, but I might in the future :D

Thank you guys :D

The Water Rose is the new one, which I'm following with great interest, but I won't add it to my list just yet, I want to see it's successful completion. Who knows, I might even post a roster for the First Water Rose Games, (since I have until August 30th,) but right now, I gotta finish up mine for the Fourth Water World Championships :P

If you want to get the feel of the Olympic Games, sign up for any multi-sport event. Mine was the Paralympics. That way, if you mess up, it won't be in the Olympics :P

I'm just saying cause I kinda messed up, posted my entry late, (thankfully Liventia didn't punish me,) and forgot about the whole Cross-Country-Biathlon Paralympic Rule :P

Oh, don't worry- I'm not getting ahead of myself- I don't wish to join the council anytime soon , until I have much higher prestige. What I'm saying is that you guys could turn a 74 page discussion thread into a neater, more orderly process.

Until you realise that these 74 pages of discussion stretch out over three years. Unless you have something more constructive to contribute, there's nothing more to be discussed here.

Now, I realize, even though I'm a returning veteran of Nationstates, that I am, especially in NS Sports, very unexperienced. I'm not trying to shift the sands of your organization, nor am I trying to act big and powerful. A simple, casual, poorly-thought out idea on my part shouldn't lead to me being labeled as a Non-constructive try hard. I would certainly expect more from such a great organization.

It's more about the fact that someone who's had zero experience with how we work suddenly showing up and telling us we're doing it all wrong… I don't think that you should expect anyone to take kindly to that in any scenario.

Still, we've worked just fine for the last three years on this forum (and seven years overall) and we'll continue to do so.

And in no way do I deny you haven't worked well. I would never be able to lead such an organization- and I absolutely applaud you on all forms of management. However, you're over thinking this. By suggesting an idea to be discussed, an idea I truly didn't think would be met with success anyway, somehow in your eyes I am infiltrating your traditions and acting like I'm important. In no way am I doing either- a simple idea should remain a simple idea. I'm not criticizing you-just trying to put something out there.

I'm participating in Summer 2013. Can't wait!

Here's a dumb and probably frequently asked question; when are bids opening for the VIII Winter games?
