As we now have a bid and we need to be able to move quickly, the deadline for further bids will be noon UTC on Saturday, September 21st 2019. This is approximately 1 week from the time of this post. As I may be unavailable for several days at the start of the voting period, the Vice President (Electrum) will be running the vote.

Perhaps just two questions to kick us off:

Will we know the cumulative degrading formula (e.g. how many days will count)?

For what sports will new scorination files be built for and will we have access to them?

If we're elected, I will update all sports files for the Winter Olympics as per Pyeongchang 2018 results, and make them available.

We intend for every single day to count in terms of degrading, so a Day 1 RP will never count as 0 in the formula.

I probably will not be able to participate this year, but I was amused to see that the issue option "oh yeah we should totally host the regional Olympics and promise to reward all the athletes, what could possibly go wrong" unlocked the "gain a good economy without free markets" banner for me. Sure, we may have totally delegated our economy to AI, but at least those AI care about the important things like downhill skiing!

There is no wriggle room for signups. Both hosts have our own RL things to face, and cannot afford to extend.

That said, it shouldn't take too long to just copy and paste your entries from last year into the signup creator for this year's Games. I helped Electrum do it and it took about half an hour.

Btw, I have a bit of an OOC question. I was planning on doing a murder mystery story arc at a hotel where the MNM athletes are planning on staying near the Olympic Village. Do I have permission to do so? No other athlete from any other nation is going to be harmed. It's just going to be one murder victim.

To the best of my knowledge, there is a bid in the works and the earliest start date they'd be aiming for would be around the time when the Tokyo Olympics were originally scheduled to start. I'm less confident in planned start dates for a potential bid than I am in the fact that a bid is in the works.

Hello, being a member of the Olympic council I would like to propose a change to the charter. Seeing the work that users like FFR and many others have been required to put in I think that this amendment is long overdue. The Summer Games is gaining a reputation of driving hosts away from NSS which usually isn’t something we want happening.

The original charter stated:

2.3.1. Bid submission
Any person may submit a bid to host an Olympic Games. If more than one person is involved in the bid, a single person must be nominated as the host for the purposes of this Charter, in determining the President or Vice President, and membership in the Executive Committee.

The change would be the Following:

Any person may submit a bid to host an Olympic Games. The Summer Games must have 2 or more hosts, The Winter Games may be hosted by a single user but the preferred format is 2. This would require summer games to have 2 hosts but the winter games can still be hosted by 1 host.

I mean...it's got good intentions, but if someone feels capable of pulling off an Olympics, and the participants have confidence in them, I don't see why they should have to have someone else involved if they don't want to. It requires quite a lot of trust as it will reflect badly on both hosts if the games go tits up.

People who bid to host know full well what is expected of them. That's why people don't bid to host it. It is not "gaining a reputation of driving hosts away from NSS", because no one bids unless they know what is expected. It had that reputation maybe four Olympic cycles ago, but not now.

I see it as completely unnecessary. If I, a proven host of past Olympic Games both alone and as a co-host, want to bid alone to host the Summer Games, knowing I can pull it off, I should be allowed to. This is a solution in search of a problem. We already don't have people who want to host, what makes you think requiring two hosts would improve things? I am also annoyed you would propose this without any prior consultation with the people who actually host.
