The tournament now shifts venues to Capital Stadium in Charleston for third round pool play (OOC: Scorination Saturday, about 1100-1130 UTC).

Both Mariana and Southport have qualified for the match play next week. They play each other Saturday, with the winner clinching a bye into next Thursday's final. For Wasilla and Dagans, Saturday is a do-or-die match. The winner will survive to play the Tuesday semifinal against the loser of Mariana-Southport; the loser will be eliminated.

Voice #2: "Play defense?"

Voice #3: "Get drunk before the next one?"

Voice #1: "YOU were drunk before the last one!"

Katie Blanchard: Two and oh! Kickin’ ass and making money!

Trevor Moore: We’re not kicking ass as much as it might look, Katie.

Julie Fitzgerald (Trevor’s girlfriend, presently): Oh stop being a downer, I know you loved my two touchdowns. Sweet huh, baby?

Moore: Yeah, I guess.

Blanchard: Geez, Trevor, be a little more excited about the way you’re girlfriend is playing.

Moore: I still should be the quarterback.

Aaron Phillips (the quarterback): I’m so sick of you whining about that.

Moore: We chose our QB by beer pong for Pete’s sake!

Blanchard: Technically, beer pong isn’t a bad way to choose a quarterback. The quarterback needs to be accurate with his passes, and by demonstrating his ability at the beer pong table, Aaron was able to show he had good skill about that.

Tara Douglas: You know it was sweet to beat Cassadaigua too, they’re woman think they are so superior to women on other team.

Phillips: I’ve never heard a Cassadagan woman say that. They actually seem to be rather modest about things. Tara good job on your fumble recovery for a score. That swung some momentum for sure.

Douglas: Thanks it was fun to score!

Blanchard: Relax on the post-touchdown celebrations, this is Babbage Rules football, not actual gridiron.

Fitzgerald: Who says there’s no showboating in Babbage Rules? As a matter of fact, we can leave an impression as having the best touchdown celebrations.

Moore: We don’t need to be known for showmanship.

Fitzgerald: Trevor why are you such a downer about all this, this was all your idea in the first place.

Ken Houston: He’s gotten jealous because we are all actually having a fun time with it, and doing more then getting trashed after every game. I mean Katie and Julie, that was really great how you signed autographs for almost two hours after the game for the little girls that were at the game. Even though people here, not just Trevor, wanted you to stop so we get right to drinking.

Fitzgerald: Thanks Ken. I’m just trying to soak up this whole experience.

Blanchard: There’s so much more to life then drinking all the time. This kind of football might not be popular in Newmanistan, but here it is, and those kids looked up to us. I just thought that was really cool. To be looked up to by kids, and not just be looked at as a sex object by horny frat boys.

Fitzgerald: Amen to that.

Douglas: I agree.

Blanchard: As a matter of fact after our next game, we’re going to let some of the kids on the field and let them play with us for a while. Since we’re the second game, the organizers have given it their approval. Who wants to join me and Julie in this?

Blanchard: Not one guy?

Fitzgerald: Come on Trevor, it will be fun.

Moore: Not interested and come on Julie this isn’t what we planned on doing here.

Fitzgerald: Plans change. And maybe, nah, nevermind that can wait.

Wasilla Gunners, from SarahRed-n-BarryBlue, have been eliminated. The team takes home E:65 000 for its fourth-place finish.

The semifinal on Tuesday will pit Dagans from Cassadaigua against Mariana BCC from Delaclava. They come off dramatically different games, as Dagans scored 44 in cementing the last knockout slot while Mariana come off a defensive battle on the short end of a 5-0 result.

The Tuesday winners will then face top qualifiers Southport Tigers from Newmanistan on Thursday for the championship.

Both games are at Capital Stadium. First prize is E:250 000, with runners-up taking E:120 000 and third place E:90 000.

CHARLESTON, South Island (BPA) -- It will be Dagans against Southport Tigers for the Mcleod Cup in Babbage rules football.

Southport Tigers, from Newmanistan, advanced directly to the final by going undefeated in pool play. Dagans, from Cassadaigua, squeaked into the final qualifying spot in the last pool play round. But they then rose to the occasion in the semifinal with a 42-40 upset of Mariana BCC from Delaclava.

The Delaclava team received E:90 000 for their third-place finish. The finalists will divide E:370 000.

So we're playing this thing called the McLeod Cup, and my teammates have been shouting at me that I should write a blog to record what goes on out here in The Babbage Islands. Why I had to be the one I am still trying to figure out because who really gives a damn about the safety in Babbage Rules, right? Well, it's been quite an experience, and I cannot lie and tell you that we are mainly motivated by the money. The format of the tournament was pretty easy, with us just needing to place in the top three out of four teams, thereby enabling us time to work out the kinks before we felt as though we were hitting our peak. That's probably why we lost those first two games, but now we feel comfortable and ready to play for the championship against Newmanistan's Southport Tigers team. We jumped on Mariana a little bit in this game, but found ourselves down 40-32 with just six minutes remaining in the game, and we had absolutely no momentum. But then Kaitlyn Nicholson found her grove and moved us down the field for a clutch score. She's done pretty well, and now it's us versus Newmanistan's University of Southport students for the title. One of their players, a guy of course, told us that he felt as though Babbage Rules were unfair for a team like us, since in Cassadaigua the female athlete is superior to the male, and that gender reversal roles should have to apply to us. But they can't make such a change mid-tournament. If we were to come back, then maybe they would think about that. Hopefully there will be some people watching us, I know there is a lot of competition out there in the world of sports, but we are playing for a championship and we'd like to have a lot of support.

Julie Fitzgerald: Trevor, what the hell is wrong with you? You never showed up to the dinner I arranged for the local schoolkids.

Trevor Moore: Oh snap! That was yesterday? (Trying to keep a straight face)

Keith Vinsen: Trevor was pretty shit-faced last night, Jules. You wouldn’t have wanted him near kids. No one would have.

Katie Blanchard: It was really a wonderful experience. It’d be great if everyone here realized that Babbage Rules football actually is big in the Babbage Islands. Just because we’re doing this for money to pay our tuition doesn’t mean the people here look at it so lightly. The kids have loved having us talk to them.

Trevor: That just makes (fakes a sniffle) so happy.

Julie: Why do I date you?

Tara Douglas: Why would anyone date him?

Trevor: Because you love me! And when you count your money after we finish this thing you better thank me for this being my idea. Those little kiddies had nothing to do with it.

Julie: Yeah well, all you do is drink when we don’t play.

Trevor: That is not true!

Julie: Yeah, what else have you done?

Trevor: I’ve played pool, played video games, slept, you name it! Hey, I have been faithful unlike Aaron. How many you up to now, Aaron?

Julie: Aaron is single. He can be more free with things.

Aaron Phillips: That’s right! Being single right now kicks ass! I think I’m up to about six. But two of them were at once.

Julie: But not that free!

Tara: You are sick, really. This whole thing was supposed to bring men and women together and all it’s doing is making us think you are a bunch of idiots.

Katie: Pigs. Losers.

Trevor: Don’t get all Cassadagan with that female superiority bit. When we get back to Southport we’ll forget everything that happened here other then the money we won. And besides, we have been doing something meaningful while you have been gone playing with the kiddies. We’re not just a bunch of good for nothing morons. Right, Aaron?

Aaron: Exactly. Trevor, myself, and a bunch of us men (emphasizing the word) have written a formal letter of complaint to the organizers that the extra points in which female players attain should not pertain to Cassadaigua.

Trevor: As we know, Cassadaigua treats their men like second class citizens. Therefore, the gender roles need to be reversed. Their orange back should have to be a male. They should not be allowed to complete two passes in a row to a woman. When they do, it’s when they should enter code orange. We worked very hard on this letter all night.

Katie: Let me see that.

Julie: Oh my God!

Katie: Wow!

Trevor: Hahaha! You ladies are impressed huh? So Jules how about we celebrate?

Aaron: Hell yeah (hi-fives Trevor)

Julie: This is just.... just.....

Trevor: Say it baby!

Katie: It’s PATHETIC! You guys can’t spell for shit! How the hell did you get into Southport? And stop whining about the rules.

Julie: This letter is embarrassing. (Rips it up)

Trevor: I guess that means no...

Julie (interrupting): I guess so.

CHARLESTON, South Island (BPA) -- The Southport Tigers, an informal university team from Newmanistan, have captured the first Mcleod Cup international club competition for Babbage rules football. The Tigers defeated the Dagans team from Cassadaigua in the final 38-35 at Capital Stadium.

Babbage Football International commissioner Julianne Phillips presented the trophy to the Newmanistan squad along with a cheque for E:250 000. Teams from Cassadaigua, Delaclava, and SarahRed-n-BarryBlue all received cheques as well at the final ceremony. The final was a sellout, as were about two-thirds of the games in the series.

Scouts from at least four NABC Premier League teams were observed at the final, as were representatives of other Babbage Islands sports federations. Rumours of international signings and future sporting events were flying almost as fast as commentary about a well-played game.
