I watched as our beloved rugby team just lost to Buyan, those Buyanese don't even know what the score is, they are just a short way from being absolutely disgusting.
Then he had the nerve to come up to me! the idiot came up to me bragging about how superior Buyan is to our country in every way. I probably should have practice self control but screw it, I can't be bothered with BS. So I punched him bloodied his nose a bit and then his low-life friends come along and wanted to gang up on me so my fellow countrymen came in and boom it happened. We all started brawling, some were using beer bottle to stab people, I was swinging at anything I could, those things are not honorable people, they are more like the barbaric villains you so in movies and such only a bit more on the stupid side.

Great start for the Xadowia XV in this World Cup.
We defeated Gregoeysgodistan with a fierce score, leaving them just a penalty, we scored
5 tries : Garcia (Avenir), Lubanga (Gorillas), Lubanga, Lubanga, Mwami (Gorillas)
4 conversions (4x2 = 8 points to Isidore Kunakey, our kicker, fly half of the Gorillas)
3 penalties (3x3 = 9 points to Kunakey)

So the scorecard to Xadowia is:

Our guys in the scrum did their job in a nearly perfect way, it was a tough day for Gregoryisgodistan forwards, but we would like to underline a performance over the lineout which should be still improved.

Well, we know supporters in Xadowille and all over the country had parties with rivers of beer flowing out of the taps... but we should not feel so safe, because hard trials are waiting for our team in the near future: Ko-oren, Nova Anglicana and Patistan are frightening oponents, not to underestimate the unrated opponents: Jachaelter and Kernansquillec are as dangerous as mines floating beneath the water surface...

By the way we saw a great match by Nova Anglicana, while Patistan suffered a lot against Jachaelter. Mr. Lebarien should dedicate more attention to Jachaelter team to properly prepare next match.

Darmen made superb use of their kicking skills to gain territory on there way to scoring three tries. Rodney Wembley once again showed that he is one of the best Flyhalfs in Darmeni domestic rugby, keeping Nephara pinned back in their own half for much of the match. Nephara was able to score their three tries only by breaking through the Darmeni line for long runs. Kicking conversions was the difference in the match, as Wembley converted all three ties, while Nehparan Flyhalf Espen Caitliff missed the conversion on Nephara's second try.

Darmen also dominated in the scrum, with the much larger Darmeni pack causing several turnovers and penalties that gave Darmen possession of the ball more often than their opponents. Despite this, the Darmeni offensive attack was unable to score on several attempts, the Nepharan defense standing tall several times within 5 meters of the try line.

Darmen's next match will be against Uitbregen, the third ranked team in the multiverse. Darmen will need to play much better than they did against the semi-professional players of Nephara. Specifically, Darmen will need to capitalize on try scoring opportunities, and limit the amount of line breaks made by their opponents. It will certainly be a tough test for the Darmeni team.

R: Evening Bee! How've you been this week?
B: Well, I had a little run out for my local club...
R: And a run in with the ref?
B: You know it, speaking of extremely violent it's time for...Rug-bee's Rugby Pod!

R: Well, we've got a lot to discuss this week - the World Cup kicks off in Electrum, and Uitbregen are looking to go one better than last time...
B: And the time before that...
R: Ahh-ah Bee, what's the first rule about the Pod?
B: *sigh* Thou Shalt not talk about Final losses...
R: You called it, but anyway, Uitbregen head to Rushmore on a wave of optimism following a number of changes and a strong pre-tournament showing. The biggest story, as I'm sure you will all have heard, is that rugby league wrecking-ball Lambert Aikema has switched codes and has instantly been gobbled up by Anders Clemensen, who practically wet himself when he heard the news that the Xkarai-descended Aikema had fallen out with his paymasters with the Drattenburg Wasps and expressed his desire to play Union.
B: That's right Rug, with just 5 months to the World Cup, the 6ft 3", 17 stone try-scoring machine dropped the end-over-end passing and five-phases for contested scrums, line-outs and rucks. He played the last four games of the season for Gelk, who signed him the second he announced his code-shift, and scored two very impressive tries, as well as recording a staggering 17 lines breaks.
R: I tell you, those defences for Klub Amslewijk and Kerjissen Noord RC, the last two matches they played, were not prepared for the onslaught which Aikema provided. In the game against Kerjissen, he came up against Kerjissen Full-back Arend Cloeten after breaking the line, and he thinks, do I go left, or do I go right? Nah, just go straight through him. Cloeten was flattened!
B: Face-full of boot, ah?
R: More so, several boots. But Aikema is not the only to be excited about - several new, young, exciting players are making the debuts in the World Cup.
B: That's right, on the left wing comes, well, not young, but bloody exciting, Danyal Truer. He burst onto the scene this season after a quiet few seasons with Kerjissen, bagging 16 tries in 24 games, and generally making defences look a bit silly. He's got the two things a winger needs: awesome pace and a great step, and he's strong - 6 foot 5 and there's plenty of him - international defences beware! The right wing gets a makeover too, and although the guy is from Wray, he's mighty fast. Brendon Kaïn, of Varde.
R: Trains with the Uitbregeni Athletics team, I hear, sub-11 100m.
B: Well, he's crazy fast. Not as tall or as strong as Aikema or Truer, but he's got great hands and can accelerate in the blink of an eye. Got all the agility that a winger should have, steps, chips, jumps, and loves to celebrate a try.
R: The back-row powerhouse gets a new recruit also, with Gelk flanker Timon van der Lugten, an awesome scrumager and an absolute killer around the breakdown - he's like a wind-up toy around the ruck, just set him off and watch him jackal all day long.
B: A handy attacker too, he loves to get forward and run with the ball, 7 tries last season attest that.
R: Nik Schouw comes into scrum-half, and he's probably been the best scrummie this season, being decisive to Kerjissen's recovery from a shaky early season. He controls the backs very well, and having played three seasons with Gabriel Simonis at Niuestaad, he knows the fly-half very well.
B: But let's not forget the tough old guard who'll try to guide the young guns to World Cup glory - Captain Johannes Tholberg has come off a commanding season-winning season with Gelk Niuestaad, and despite being 32, has been knocking defenders over all over the country. His leadership abilities will be key to the team's success.

R: Before we wrap it up today Bee, who's gonna win the World Cup? Us? Rhodesiah? Engollon? Someone entirely different?
B: You know, I really hate to jinx it, but I think it could be our year. It just could be. Anyway, we'll be back on Sunday with the review of Uitbregen's opening game against Darmen. Bee out!

Rugby has long played second fiddle to football in Apox. The crowds, the clubs, the players - not as famous. Henry Monteforth, captain and now coach of the national side and George Lockwood, the key player in the early years of Apoxian rugby were the only two players really becoming famous to the casual viewer. The introduction of the Super Sixteen, adding a little spice to the league with the introduction of Licentian teams, helped raise the sports profile a bit, but not as much as other events.

Events like the Rugby World Cup.

Last time, where the Apoxian national squad reached the quarter finals, the nation has suddenly sat up and taken interest. The Quarter-Final, against Nova Anglicana, was not only shown on live TV, but actually garnered some viewers, 1.2 million to be precise. A significant proportion of the Apoxian population, and for once in these kind of things, the interest stayed up. Interest in the Super Sixteen grew, as did interest in the Seasogs competition. The Lockwood Cup, the season opener between the best Apoxian and Licentian team from the previous season was actually viewed on live TV, a benchmark for the game.

Demand for watching teams has also risen. JK Memorial Squad, one of the bigger teams in Apox, actually underwent a stadium expansion, to a capacity of 20,000, by far the biggest domestic tally in Apox. Things were looking up.

However, now Apox has entered it's third World Cup, there are big hopes for the team. This could be our year, as shown by the early statement of intent in game one of the group stage, where the national side steamrollered the unknown Forthanu, 44-6. James Lidgley, the new captain of the side, was critical once more, scoring a try and making a number of line breaks throughout the game, injecting life and energy into our play, much needed as he is now one of the more experienced elder statesmen of the side. The other tries were scored by Wilfried Puskas, Allan Beggar and Tim Harrikeh, with Iphitos Horne having a good game from a kicking perspective, converting three of those four tries and also securing points from all 5 of Apox's kicked penalties during the game.

Henry Monteforth has been working hard to produce a team which can compete at this level, and, based off only one game it must be said, he looks to have created a tight knit, constructive unit which looks capable of going deep into this tournament. And by god, that would do wonders for the game domestically.

Lions Open RUWC XXII With Win

Playing a former world champion in one's first group stage game is a difficult task to ask of anyone. Fortunately for the Lions, Kernansquillec hasn't played in a Rugby World Cup since their victory in World Cup 17, and their rustiness showed. The Lions weren't actually sure against whom specifically they were taking the field in Prescott, as the official roster had yet to be released. When Kernansquillec scored on their opening possession, with their outside centre crashing through the line for a try, one thing was apparent: they knew their opponents could play.

Down a quick 7-0, the Lions responded admirably. The speedster Eric Clark managed to strip the opposing wing of the ball in Kernansquillec territory, and Garrett Morgan atoned for his poor defense on the try by scooping up the ball and scooting down to the opponents' 5-metre line. The Lions' pack arrived in force, and Dan Bridges was mauled across the try line by his teammates. Quentin Foray knocked the conversion home and early on, it was 7-7. The two sides spent the next twenty-five minutes attempting to take the measure of each other. There was a lot of cautious phase play, and Kernansquillec missed a drop goal while Tim Poole knocked on what looked like a sure try. Finally, late in the half, the Lions won a scrum and Julian Lee took it up the weak side, surprising the entire Kernansquillec team. The wing was virtually the only defender, and when he missed the tackle, it looked like Lee was home free. Unfortunately, the fullback tracked back and made a heroic tackle. A couple of forward runs later, Lee tossed it out to Foray, and he muscled his way across the line and then nailed the conversion. The Lions led 14-7, but it was a hard-earned lead.

In the second half, Kernansquillec seemed to wear down a bit. The Lions were able to control play with their forwards a bit more, and Foray added a penalty to go with Myles Sheffield's try off of a lineout fifteen minutes in. Substitute wing Nate Jefferson gained the edge late in the half, and added a fourth try to extend the Lions' lead to 31-7. Overall, it was a solid performance. Kernansquillec did not threaten much in the second half, and indeed little after their first try. Despite their overall advantage in possession, the Lions only managed to score four tries and so missed out on the bonus point. Xadowia crushed Gregoryisgodistan 41-3, earning the bonus point to put themselves in the driver's seat. The Lions will have to be more ruthless and efficient in their other games to make up for it.

The Lions' next game will also be against a world champion, but this time it will be the current world champion, Ko-oren. The Greenblues defeated Rhodesiah 20-16 to end the Sables' run, and they will be itching to start their World Cup off right, especially by defeating a top-10 side like the Lions. Ko-oren are very stingy with points, so expect Errol Flynn to urge Julian Lee and Quentin Foray to take the points whenever possible, forgoing possible tries that the Greenblues could stuff in favor of surer drop goals or penalties. Points will be at a premium tomorrow, so let's hope the Lions come out on top.

PS: I know I said I'd be very surprised if Jachaelter won a single game, so of course what do they do? They beat Patistan 24-16. For Patistan, this might be worse than their awful start to RUWC XXI. Jachaelter takes on Xadowia, so hopefully those rugby enthusiasts will send them packing.

CLOSE CALL BUT JECKLAND EDGE THROUGH

Jeckland edged out a definat Vintrotver side today in an entertaining game that was closer than they might have liked. The Spuds kicked off, but it looked like a shock could be on the cards right from the start, with a missed tackle from Dobson allowing Yartosros to surge through and touch down under the posts with 5 minutes on the clock. With Urobne inevitably kicking the conversion, Jeckland were suddenly 7-0 down. The Spuds started to attack, but a resilient defence allowed no scores in the next 10 minutes before fianlly letting up a penalty, which Miller converted on 16 minutes. Vinrotver missed a wide attempt of their own two minutes later, and on 24 minutes the Spuds struck, with a lovely passing move finished by Stevens on the left wing. Miller's conversion skimmed the post but went wide. Jeckland were 8-7 up, and dominated play for the rest of the half, especially set pieces in which the forwards excelled. But they couldn't convert untl the dying second, where Miller tucked away a drop goal to make the scoreline 11-7 at the break.

The second half was more exciting than the first, and witihin three minute Vinrotver had already scored a penalty to make it 11-10. Then Jeckland got their second try on 48 minutes, with Walton bundling over from close range in the 11th phase of the attack. Miller converted to make it 18-10. Vinrotver then enjoyed a 10 minute spell of attacking, but hard tackling from the likes of Shaw and Hamilton kept them at bay. It took a cheeky dummy and some sharp footwork from Daeviron to outfox the defence and touch down, with Urobne converting again to leave the opposition one point behind with 20 minutes left. The next ten minutes were enthralling rugby, with both sides gunning for that all important try that could win the game. A penalty apiece meant that the score 21-20, and on 72 minutes Jeckland got the breakthrough, with substitute scrum half Allen dodging two tackles to put down between the posts. Fellow sub Savage made no mistake, and Jeckland closed out the game to start the Rugby World Cup with a win.

It was tougher than they'd have liked against spirited opposition, but the players and coaching staff were pleased that the team had gritted their teeth and got the result. The next game is also a potential banana peel, with Jeckland facing New Gillingham. You can watch the game, with pre and post match coverage, on Jeckland Sports 1.

The second match of the group stage delivered to our boys a second victory, we were worried about Jachaelter, the team which stressed Patistan in the previous match.
The task revealed to be far easier than we imagined, Lebarien set up the touche mechanisms that this time worked very well. Scrum and playing strategies worked well enough, the group is getting more and more cohesive and this is a great thing in perspective towards the hard matches we have on the horizon. We should be prepared to face less satisfying results and to react to higher pressure from our opponents. In the match we want to underline Lubanga's performance, the Gorillas Inside Centre is in perfect shape. Lebarien replaced him after 20 minutes in the second half with Luc Maga (Rangers) to save him energies for the following engagements. Good performance also for Kunakey who has missed just a kick so far.

The Borderlandian fans were out full force in the Western Borderlands 39-3 win over Greater Lombardy, throwing bottles at the pitch, chanting "YOU SUCK" to the greater Lombardy fans and even a scuffle or two in the stands as many of the Borderlandian fans were being obnoxious to the Greater Lombardy fans. All of the chanting plus, cheering for when Greater Lombardy failed. They even started singing "Greater Lombardy is not so great, it's in fact really terrible like it's flag" over and over until many of the Greater lombardy fans left due to the blowout of a game occuring right in front of them. Overall though, a very good day for anyone Borderlandian.

What a beautiful amosphere yesterday in Hamilton after the match, the two teams joined for a high class dinner in the most elegant restaurant of the town.
The Xadowian Union organized the meal and financed the event.
In the pub of the town, all around the stadium the supporters of the two teams joined in singing and drinking and exchanging information about each other style of life, traditions and food, while enjoying the good pub food in the Electrum tradition.
I was there and saw it all, went to sleep in my hotel at 3;00 am and this morning believe me, it was hard to wake up!

SECOND WIN OVER NEW GILLINGHAM

Jeckland achieved a comfortable 31-14 win over New Gillingham today. The opposition players were unknown, due to a decision to not publish the squad. The Spuds started brightly, with some sharp passing and creativity caused the Gillingham defence some problems. They got the first try on 12 minutes, with Wright finishing on the right wing as the extra man in an overlap. A difficult kick for Miller, and he narrowly hit it wide. He compensated by tucking away two penalties in the next ten minutes, 11-0, and the Spuds were looking strong. However in the last ten minutes of the first half, some poor defending allowed Gillingham two penalty attempts, one of which was converted. 11-3 at the break.

Jeckland came out in th second half looking to score, and score they did jut 3 minutes in. Woodward offloaded to Miller, who threw a long pass to Campbell, who charged home. Miller converted to make it 18-3. Gillingham kicked another penalty, but by this stage the Spuds were comfortable. Another try came on 57 minutes, the best of the game. A sloppy pass was intercepted by Lees just inside the Jeckland half, and he sprinted all the way to put the ball between the sticks. Miller duly converted to make it 25-6. Jeckland continued the onslaught for the next ten minutes, coming agonisingly close on several occasions. Miller did manage a penalty, as did the Gillingham fly-half. Then Gillingham scored a consolation try, their winger bundling over after a long build-up. The conversion was missed. With the final kick of the game, Miller put away yet another penalty to make the final score 31-14.

The Spuds have now won both their games, and lie second in the table behind Hutantija, who managed to beat Polar Islandstates in the big game of Group F. Vintrotver also recorded their first win over the Serbian Empire. Next up for Jeckland are the top seeds Polar Islandstates in what will be a tough contest. Start the engines! Uitbregen get their World Cup campaign under way

The Kale Memorial Ground played host to Uitbregen's opening game in 22nd Rugby Union World Cup. Hymne van Het Land, played for the first time in a significant time, boomed out around the 7,500 capacity crowd, with over 2,000 travelling Uitbregenis making the region-hop to make the far stand a sea of blue and white.

Uitbregen came with a side packed full of exciting new talent: Truer, Kain, Rugby-League convert Lambert Aikema, Schouw & van der Lugten all making their full caps in this game against Darmen. Kicking off from left to right, Uitbregen instantly made their presence known in defence, when a bone-shattering early hit from captain Tholberg shut down a Darmeni move.

Darmen's early phases were poor, but rustiness and an inability to execute cost Uitbregen on a number of occasions in the opening exchanges, most notably when Full-Back van der Viel was 1v1 against the last Darmeni defender, and a simple pass out to Truer would have run him in for the first try, but instead the pass was poor and the ball landed two yards behind him and bobbled out of touch for a Darmeni line-out.

The first points came in the 12th minute, when Darmeni lock Douglass Janson came into a ruck from the side and the referee awarded Uitbregen a penalty. From 28 yards out and almost dead straight on the posts, Gabriel Simonis had no problem in slotting the ball between the posts to get his, and Uitbregen's, account open for the competition.

From 3-0, Uitbregen began to crank up the speed of the game, the lightning-fast back three of Truer, Kain and van der Viel regularly causing problems for the Darmeni defence. In the 19th minute, a smart inside ball from Kain released Lambert Aikema, who crashed through Darmeni winger Nash Kerr, and gaining 20 yards before the combined efforts of Courtney & Myers brought him down.

Simonis made it 6-0 5 minutes later, when an offside from a ruck - Darmen's ruck discipline was a real hindrance to their progress - led to another simple penalty for the fly-half. Simonis looked in sublime touch in the opening 25 minutes, landing several kicks to the touchline and remaining 100% with his goalkicking.

Uitbregen then landed the first killer blow, when another slick move ended up with a short pass from Tholberg to an on-rushing Lambert Aikema, coming off a 20-yard run-up. Aikema crunched through a weak tackle from scrum-half Boveri, before taking on Darmeni full-back Dario Courtney. Aikema took Courtney on, at first using his pace to try and round him, but then just resorting to brute strength, fending the full-back off and scoring in the right hand corner. Simonis once again was right on target as he slotted the conversion for 2 more points. 13-0 to Uitbregen after 26 minutes.

Darmen were strong in the next 10 minutes, making several attacking forays into the Uitbregeni half. On 32 minutes, only a very good last-ditch tackle from Brendon Kain prevented Tristan Wilbur from scoring in the corner, although the Darmenis did not come away from their attack without some reward - an offside gave a penalty to Rodney Wembley, who did not miss.

Darmen came back again with renewed vigour, driving a scrum to within 3 metres of the Uitbregen line, before they shifted it down the line, where Wilbur once again caused problems for the Darmen defence, this time skipping inside and causing a maul which drove right up to the line. Defence from the Uitbregenis only lasted for three phases, when openside flanker Adam Balboni slipped under a tackle and wriggled his way over the line. The TMO was called, but after a few replays it was clear that Balboni had crossed the line, and the ref awarded the try. 13-10.

Uitbregen consolidated in the centre of the park, exerting their physical dominance in the pack - the tight five had an exemplary half, winning the scrum against the head twice. This scrum dominance led to another penalty as the clock went red, and Simonis converted his third kick to ensure that UItbregen were at least a score ahead going into the break. 16-10.

Uitbregen came charging out of the blocks in the second half, with Johannes Tholberg and Lukas Varden making breaks in the opening minutes, and only strong covering defence from Darmen's backs prevented any early damage. But from the outset, it looked like Uitbregen were going to make the first mark on the second half, and they did on 51 minutes. A line-out off a penalty in Darmen's 22 opened up the pitch for Uitbregen's backs to run, and they made the most of the opportunity, utilising the scissor-switch move which sliced open the Darmeni defence, which allowed Lukas Varden to ease through and score under the posts. The conversion was no issue. 23-10.

Uitbregen began to dictate the play more as the Darmenis began to tire - Simonis tormented the back three of Darmen with his precision kicking, whilst the pack, noted for their legendary stamina, began to cause mistakes in the opposition pack. But Uitbregen came unstuck during an attacking phase, when lazy positioning and a lazy pass from Lambert Aikema allowed Emmanuel Spencer to intercept the ball. After juggling the ball once, twice, he managed to take hold and sped to the Uitbregeni line 60m away. Uitbregen's 'blitz' attack tactic meant that full-back van der Viel was in no place to cut the Darmeni centre off. Spencer dropped the conversion himself*, allowing for a quick changeover, and the scores were once again tight at 23-17.

But Uitbregen didn't let it slip, when it so easily could have. The pack blunted the renewed spirit of the Darmenis, whilst substitutions at fly-half and inside centre increased the durability of the back-line. Marinus Thorn kicked a 66th minute penalty to bring the led up to 26-17, and Uitbregen continued to apply pressure, meaning Darmen couldn't strike back.

Uitbregen closed out the game in the 74th minute when several phases of Uitbregen bashing away at the tiring Darmeni defence, before space opened up for the giant second-row Terenti Arntenzuis to cross over. Thorn couldn't emulate Simonis with his conversion rate, pushing the kick slightly wide, but the result was already in the bag - Uitbregen were off to a winning start.

Gideon Patrick walks into the press room after the 24-16 loss to Estope. The Toucans are now 0-1 and the path past the group stage is now much more difficult. He takes a sip of water, sits down and the reporters hands start flying.

"Coach, Jack Anderson, Vis Vires Times, Is this a sign that the Toucans need a major roster overhaul?"

"No. It was a downpour out there. That combined with sloppy, over confident play led to our defeat.

"Coach, Samantha Jones, Republic Reader, You guys were leading 16-10 at half time, the only difference was in the final 15 minutes when Estope scored 2 tries. what was the difference between the 1st half and the 2nd half?"

"Estope went on the attack. In the 1st half they played back preventing and tries and focusing on holding us to drop kicks. They went all out on the attack and we just didn't have the energy to hold them off. That's my fault for not making substitutions when I started to notice that the boys were getting tired.

"Coach, Adam Cantor, Electrum Examiner. You guys face Buyan next. How key is it to win that game.'

"In my opinion its the biggest game of the group stage now. If we lose the game we don't have any tiebreaker against out 2 toughest competitors. Our chances for advancing will be slim to none. This is a must win game for us. No more questions."

Lions Throttled by Greenblues, Look to Bounce Back Against Patistan

We knew that points would be hard to come by in this game, and although the Lions managed to score thirteen against the notoriously stingy Ko-oren side, it seemed like they were rarely in contention. The Lions did not score a point in the first half, en route to dropping a twelve-point decision to the #2 team in the world and current world champion.

From the start, Ko-oren made it a priority to pin the Lions back in their own end and not allow them to advance. The Greenblues surrendered possession almost immediately after the opening kick, sending it booming down the pitch and bouncing out inside the five-metre line. While the Lions won the ensuing lineout (fortunately), they had little choice but to punt it away, since they were operating out of their own try zone. The Ko-orenite fullback caught it just behind midfield and began to weave his way up the pitch. The Lions stood firm, but they could not break through the enemy rucks, and so it was only a matter of time before Sergio Santos dove across the try line to open up an early lead. With the conversion, the Lions once again trailed 7-0. Unlike the Kernansquillec game, they were unable to counterpunch. Time and again, the Lions would advance the ball some small distance up the pitch, only to lose it on a ruck. Then the entire team would turn their heads as some Ko-orenite back punted the ball an enormous distance down the pitch, pinning the Lions deep in their own end. The Lions won ten of eleven lineouts in the first half, and it's a good thing they did, because all but two were within ten metres of the Lions' try line and Ko-oren could have blown the game open by winning a few more. As it was, the Lions trailed 19-0 after one half, courtesy of tries by Ryan Savage and Flávio Pereira. Pereira's try just snuck inside the corner flag, and Savage missed the conversion attempt. The closest our boys got to the try line was a scrum at the 22 metre line, won by Ko-oren.

Beaten up from playing defense the entire half, it's a wonder the Lions managed thirteen second half points. They received the kick, but lost it back. Thankfully, Jonathan Grimault was called for obstruction, giving them the ball about 24 metres out. Errol Anderson called for the tee, and Quentin Foray nailed the penalty to make it 19-3. Perhaps not the most efficient use of the penalty, but it gave the Lions a much-needed morale boost. After about fifteen minutes of slogging back and forth, Eric Clark got loose and sprinted nearly forty metres for the try. When he touched it down, he let out a primal scream, as if releasing all of the pent-up frustration that had consumed him for sixty minutes. At 19-10, it looked like the Lions might have a comeback left in them. Ko-oren would control the match from then on, adding a penalty and a drop goal to make it 25-10 before Cole Fair hit a drop goal with a minute to go in relief of Foray, making the final score 25-13.

Bruised and exhausted, the Lions exited the pitch after congratulating the Greenblues on thoroughly defeating them. They will look to rebound against Patistan in their next match. Patistan, who dropped a surprising 24-16 decision to Jachaelter, defeated Kernansquillec 36-10 to improve to 1-0-1, while Xadowia moved to 2-0-0 by crushing Jachaelter 31-7. The Lions will have to recover fast, and we may see a few normal substitutes start to give the starters a little rest. They should be fine against Patistan, but stranger things have happened.

That's right, Neu Engollon, I'm Magda Wertauer and I am coming to you live from Electrum, host of the Rugby Union World Cup, the Twenty-second Edition. Neu Engollon have two tough opponents in their group and they fought a close one in this first match to bring down probably the most challenging team they will be up against...Apox. 24 to 18 was the score, and the Goats took Apox to the line each time, with many current club team mates taking the pitch against each other. Marcel Donette, when not playing for the Neu Engollon national team, plays for Northern Urbanista in Apox, and the Burgunden Brawlers lay claim to Apoxian hooker, David Jones; while Apox's fullback, Wilfried Puskas, calls Telleursville home most of the year, bringing the Gargoyles back on track and in sight of the Seasogs again. So it was old home week as the two squads faced off and dug in, rucking their way across a center line that was unrecognizable by the end of the fierce match. Puskas racked in a try, as did Alex Jones, not to be confused with Richard or the afore mentioned David. Then, with the Goats answering with Renvier, Lichtmann and a surprise try from lock, Dino Sobaccia, it came down to drop goals and penalties as the two sides tore up the sod. Ultimately, as the highlights will show for those of you who didn't forestall everything else in life to watch this match, the Goats came out triumphant, with as much blood spilt onto the pitch as the Apoxians.

Next, we will cover the other predictably tough match for the Goats against Super Llama Land, where we hope this epic match hasn't drained them too much that they may be able to face down the super charged Llamalanders who are not only competing for their rugger honor, but for attention to their land which has been over run by the tyrannical Gregoryisgodistanis. HAMILTON, ELECTRUM - Abanhfleft recovered from a sound trashing from Super Llamaland yesterday by doing the same to the Miley World national rugby union team. In classic Fleftic fashion, the Democratic Republic's fifteen scored a whopping seven tries and seven conversions to give them the win. Team captain Archie Wigglesworth scored four tries, while Dev Nasuggi and Dixon Cochabamba scored three tries each. Nawwaz Shareef Wahhab, the national side's designated kicker, converted all seven opportunities to give Abanhfleft 35 points in this contest. Meanwhile, for the opponents, Brian van Zyl scored a try, and Jean-Charles Durand scored the conversion to give the Smilers 7 points, and keep Miley World from being shut out of the scoreboard by Abanhfleft.

Wigglesworth opened the scoring by landing a try in just thirteen minutes into the first half, and giving Abanhfleft the early lead. But just three minutes later, van Zyl also scored a try and Durand got the conversion to put Miley World back on the level. And then after that came what can only be described as a storm of Abanhfleft tries rained down on the field in Hamilton, and by the time the referee blew the final whistle, Abanhfleft had triumphed 35-7. During the post-game press conference, Wigglesworth attributed his team's desire to recover from yesterday's loss to Super Llamaland, and the pros of playing for a sports-mad nation, as the keys to their victory today. "We were saddened by our loss to Super Llamaland yesterday, that we can say for sure," he told reporters during the press conference. "But we didn't let our emotions get the best of us. We came out of that first game as losers, but when we came into this game against Miley World, we had the mentality of winners; people out to get that World Cup. And that was what we gave everyone who was watching the game."

As for how the nation's citizens helped in their winning drive, Wigglesworth said, "We are playing for national pride. Our country is a country of people mad with sports; whenever a national team plays in the international stage, everything stops; goes to a standstill. That means that everyone's watching, and wanting their country to win. And we wanted to give them a win after our performance against Super Llamaland, and that's one more factor in our motivation to win."

Abanhfleft, being an unranked country in the rugby union stage, is commonly regarded as one of many teams whom favorites like Neu Engollon, Apox, and Super Llamaland are expected to walk over in their fight to the round of 24. But Abanhfleft's rebound after losing to the national team ranked 26th in rugby union has got everyone looking at this newcomer. Already Abanhfleft is making waves after winning 2nd place in the International Baseball Slam VI, and third place in the World Lacrosse Championship XIX. And while the Revolution's performance in the World Baseball Classic 31 is dismal to say the least, the national American football side is already through to the quarterfinals of the Baptism of Iron XVI in Gregoryisgodistan. Abanhfleft may prove to be this tournament's X-factor, if they continue to play the way they played against Miley World.

Rude and Arrogant Fans need to go!

Electrumite authorities are concerned about the antisocial behaviour exhibited by Western Borderland fans after they were spotted multiple times throwing punching and being all out assaulting to other members of the community. CCTV footage from Burnton and Centralis has shown these rude grunts not respecting Electrumite laws on assault and physical violence as well as indiscriminately brawling on those who had nothing to do with the rugby match which just finished.

There have been reports filed by the Centralis Police after several arrests were made by the CPA (Centralis Police Authority) in connection to a brawl at the end of the Buyan-Western Borderlands match which saw beer bottles and punches being thrown around. There were even reports about assaults on police officers being hit by these fans -- with two officers sent to hospital as a result. At the end of that match, Electrum officers arrested ten fans. Then, the fans were more obnoxious in the match against Greater Lombardy, again showing unsportmanslike behaviour and more.

I call upon the Electrum Rugby Association to ban these louts from the competition, or penalise the team for allowing these fans to continue these reckless behaviours. It is impossible to keep order at such a large event when these hooligans decide to ruin the sporting competition to the majority that want to enjoy them. They need to respect the rule of law and social etiquette here, and if need be, I am willing to pay the money for the taxi to the airport so they can leave. Clean up your act or leave.

The fans of the Western Borderlands stuck to annoying but still offensive chants today, chanting "Britonisea needs a facelift" and "Why are you here?" due to the massive blowout the game was it got louder and louder as the game progressed and some of Britonisea's fans started throw things at the Western Borderlands fans, but the real news here is the statement the Western Borderlands' Rugby Association made about the past two games.

Here is the excerpt of it:
The WBRA is not responsible for its own fans' actions thus no penalties should be instituted against the WBRNT, also the WBRA questions the investigation done on the Buyan-Western Borderlands game as it seems all of the investigation's blame seems to be on the Western Borderlands fans when Buyanese fans were a part of it as well. As for the Greater Lombardy game, it was nothing compared to the Buyan-Western Borderlands. We can not control our fans' actions, we can not make them obey us like school teachers reprimanding students. If you want to enforce the rules your country has instituted you need to have more security and a tougher skin.

It also seems like the WBRA are sending it's own investigation team into Electrum due to these two games and reports coming from Electrum. More details will be available as the tournament progresses.
