Mauroren rugby looks at a low point with their clubs in 9th, 10th, and 11th, and their State Rugby team in fourth. Even the West Coast looks to be doing better, with two clubs in 5th and 8th but unprecedented levels of regional pride powering them to first in State Rugby. Though as far as the clubs go, it's all between the two big cities (Galaxy, Foxes) and the southwestern triangle of teams (Comets, Andromeda, and, given previous reputation, the Swans). We're going towards a more forward-dominated game in lieu of any other tactical improvements - and it's the West Coast that develops those like no one else, but then they end up playing for those big five teams.

The regional championships, running through the season (made up of the regular season games, as an in-season tournament), crown the Bears champion of the Maur - for what it's worth - and the Comets edge out the Andromeda for the most tightly contested (and most respected) tournament among them - the Poninoren Championship. The Wuritharanau Championship is the Eaglebury Aquila's, producing likely the most entertaining rugby of the four, though the quality is probably the highest in the Championship of Cities, won by the Foxes, despite the Galaxy's domination in the regular season.

AMI Stadium (Unsponsored: BCCU Oval) is the home venue of Bay City Cricket Union, the oldest and more traditional sports unions in Alice Bay. It also receives Rugby Union and Union Football (aka Aussie Rules). Being a massive stadium, it can receive near 100,000 fans, however, its format makes the field too far for those in the upper levels. ABRU usually practices low prices for those seats.

Procedural Notes

• 34 teams from 10 associations were submitted for entry into RUCT 43. 4 teams will contest a preliminary round, while the remaining 30 will qualify directly to the group stage.
• The teams advancing straight to the group stage will be
  1. Raging Hornets of Hanalia, as reigning champions.
  2. Each nation's league winner or otherwise designated champion, and second-placing qualifier.
  3. The highest ranking third- and fourth-placing teams of the remaining 13 entrants.
• That is, the preliminary round will be contested by the lowest ranking of each association's lowest qualifying club. These are

Final site selection
The RUCT organising committee received only one bid to host the final of the 43^rd edition of the Rugby Union Champions' Trophy. This was from the AMI Stadium in Bay City, Alice Bay, and after a brief discussion regarding non-affiliated RUCT sponsorship, the BCCU Oval in Bay City, Alice Bay was thusly declared to be the host venue for the 43^rd RUCT final.

On a third consecutive final to feature a Ko-orenite team, Greencaster Galaxy manage to do what previous league-mates hadn't and claim their first RUCT championship. They claim a fifth title for the nation of Ko-oren, and repeat what Idyllwild Coronae managed in RUCT 38 over the same opposition. The Metro Saracens in their valiant defeat gain the unenviable distinction of being the team with the most RUCT final losses now with four final defeats to edge ahead of the three of Citizens RFC, Montbenoit Old Boys, Northbrook Harlequins, and Muskulchi'tirhia Sparrowhawks.

Rankings & Procedural Notes

You may notice on the rankings that some of your ranking scores from previous tournaments look a little different than previously.

This is because they might well be.

In compiling the ranks for RUCT 43, I noticed that teams that reached the latter stages of the tournament were scoring higher than in previous iterations. As such, I did some investigation into whether this was just a curious quirk of this edition, or whether there was ineptitude upon my part. It turned out to be the latter.

What had happened was that I had being treating the preliminary rounds as two separate matches, but treating the knock-out rounds as one single result. This meant that the teams running deep into the competition were being a bit 'short changed' by the rankings once they hit the knock-outs. As such, I have been back and completely re-ranked RUCTs 40, 41, and 42.

Thankfully, this seems to have had only a relatively minor effect upon the overall rankings and whilst the numbers may have been slightly skewed, the placings within the nation ranking table (the one that is used alongside RP bonus and order of entry to generate your team's scorination rank for the tournament) are mostly unchanged and no-one has missed out on their correct entry quota because of this.

The differences apparent in the previous ranking sheet:

• Post RUCT 43: Paradystopia 5th, Moladea 6th
• Post RUCT 42: Darmen 2nd, Hanalia 3rd, APOC Coalition 4th
• Post RUCT 41: Kriegiersien 10th, Kelssek 11th
• Post RUCT 40: Port Ember 4th, Kriegiersien 5th, Moladea 6th

Obviously, I offer my sincerest of apologies for taking a mere 4 editions of the RUCT to realise I've been messing things up when compiling the rankings. This is what you get entrusting penguins with admin tasks. Be assured that each and every one (as well as myself) have been beaten soundly with the Spoiled Salmon of Stupidity^TM.

On the plus side, in investigating this I did build a little thing to show how much your teams/association have climbed/fallen since the previous edition and this now features to the left of your positioning in the ranking table.

• Greencaster Galaxy (KOR) as champions will be automatically entered into the group stage for RUCT 44. Should Greencaster Galaxy not qualify as one of the top four teams from Ko-oren, then they and the top three teams from Ko-oren will compete in RUCT 44.
• The top eight associations (Ko-oren, Darmen, Hanalia, APOC Coalition, Moladea, Paradystopia, Hundredstar & Lisander) are entitled to enter four teams into RUCT 44.
• All other associations currently ranked (Qyzzyxzyan Draconic Territories, Calgasia, Abanhfleft, Port Ember, Kelssek, Alice Bay, Kita-Hinode, Kriegiersien, Nova Calania, Libesia) will be able to enter three teams into RUCT 44.
• New and unranked associations will be eligible to enter two teams into RUCT 44.
• Additionally, associations are invited to present host bids for the final of RUCT 44. If no bids are received, Cheapside Rugby Stadium, New Newetoun, Paradystopia (31,093 capacity) will host the final.
• The provisional deadline for entrance into RUCT 44 is hereby set to 9:00pm UTC on Sunday, December 6^th, 2026, or approximately ten weeks from today. A definitive deadline will be posted two weeks prior to the cut-off.
• Associations are kindly asked to submit their teams using the submission box shown below in order to make the collection of submitted teams easier. The necessary code is also provided for ease of use.
