a Limey bid for Campionato Esportiva 39
LOCATION AND HISTORY
The Fiefdom of Limey George consists the entirety of the Isle of Albion, directly south of Apox. Known globally for its gargantuan merchant navy -- to facilitate the mass export of limes, and... some other things, I guess -- the Isle is a single fiefdom under the leadership of His Georgeousness, George XLVII.
Some have expressed concerns over such trivial things as "political freedom", "civil rights", and "human rights". His Limeyness gives his personal guarantee that the
Notably, the annual lime harvest will largely take place during the suggested tournament period (summer), meaning the majority of the
The concerns raised by a World Assembly observer last year, regarding the treatment of migrant workers, have also been addressed already. His Georgeness has decreed that no migrant workers will be permitted to take part in the construction of any part of the infrastructure associated with this bid. Similarly, the vile accusations of institutional discrimination on the basis of sexuality in the Fiefdom have been thoroughly disproven: there is no legislation which would restrict any action based on a person's sexuality. The Lord of the Orchards, His Limeocity George XLVII hath decreed "The Rejector of Crosses cares not who you choose to diddle", and "those who discriminate in such a way to negatively impact the productivity of the Isle shall be punished accordingly."
The details of the bid, in terms of locations and stadia, will be finalised at a later date, should the Isle be chosen as host. Along with that information, we will provide guidance for travellers, detailing some relevant history and the culture of the Isle to better equip them for their time here.
FORMAT & TIEBREAKERS
A single round-robin group stage -- with groups of 4 ideally, and certainly not larger than 5 -- with group winners and a selection of runners up (and possibly third placed teams if necessary) progressing to the knockout rounds.
Actual details will vary based on entry numbers, but no playoff will take place between the group stage and knockout rounds, and no more than 16 teams will progress to the knockout rounds. The actual number progressing will be a number such that all teams yet to be eliminated will play in any given round, so no byes will be afforded.
Group stage classification tiebreakers will be, in the following order:
- points (3 for a win, 1 for a draw),
- head to head points,
- head to head goal difference,
- wins
- goal difference,
- and the drawing of lots (OOC: a one-off match scorinated with RP bonus only)
The knockout rounds will not be "seeded", but pre-determined spots will be assigned based on group and finish position within the group (i.e. A1 v C2, etc). The bracket will be fixed in this manner and will remain unchanged.
Each knockout tie will be a single game, with extra time and penalty kicks employed if necessary to determine a winner when scores are level at the end of ninety minutes, or extra time respectively.
SCORINATION
All matches will be scorinated using xkoranate 0.3.3. The SQIS paradigm will be used, with additive style modifiers.
Style modifiers will be rounded to two decimal places, with any value greater than 5 capped at 5, and any value smaller than -5 capped at -5.
Scorination will take place roughly every 48 hours, depending on availability. Effort will be made to ensure that no two matchdays are cut off any closer together than 40 hours, and ample warning will be provided for any change in schedule.
ROLEPLAY BONUS
Initial ranks will be the latest available Campionato Esportiva ranks as provided by the current rankings custodian.
RP bonus will be added directly to initial rank, on a cumulative basis throughout the tournament. There will be no degradation.
All RPs posted by a nation between matchdays will be counted toward their RP bonus awarded for the next matchday.
The maximum available bonus for each matchday will be unaffected by the number of RPs posted.
An additional roster bonus will be awarded to a maximum value of a one and a half matchday's maximum RP bonus.
This will be applied at the point the roster is posted, in the same way any regular RP bonus would be.
Teams without rosters will not be eligible to accrue RP bonus at all until a roster is posted, though RPs will still be graded.
At the point a roster is posted, previously graded RPs will count toward their RP bonus.
The maximum available RP bonus per matchday will be calibrated in such a way that the median ranked team in the competition (before matchday 1, no roster bonus applied) can equal the highest ranked team (without RP bonus) at the mid-point of the tournament.
I feel this approach should provide significant incentive for the majority of teams to actively RP throughout the tournament, while not harshly negating any advantage a higher ranked side may possess.
Prompts may be provided at various points of the competition, though there is no obligation to engage, and there will be no impact on RP bonus as a result of that decision. They will serve simply as an assist for those who would like to roleplay off something.
HOSTING EXPERIENCE
The user behind Limey George has hosted other events of a varying nature, including parts of FLAGS on two occasions (as Cobrio/Osarius), the U-18 World Cup (Sporting World Cup 3), and Rabastor Unity Trophy 54 (both as Osarius). They have also previously been the NSCF Commissioner for multiple seasons -- which involved co-ordinating between multiple hosts, alongside scorinating various conferences as well as the playoffs at times -- and is the current organiser of CAFA LigAnaia (since its formation).
In addition, this user has been directly involved in the development and maintenance of numerous scorinators, including the IFCF scorinator and CAFA LigAnaia scorinator -- both of which were adapted for purpose from existing files -- and is currently leading efforts to port xkoranate into Python for future development. As a result, their understanding of the scorinator is likely significantly above average.
Questions are welcomed, and I'll answer as best I can.
