Voting time!

So this is way late. My apologies. With WBC 57 now in the books, it’s time to proceed to Council and amendment voting.

These nations were a part of the Council after WBC 56:
Abanhfleft
Banija
Barnettsville
Cassadaigua
Chromatika
Drawkland
Eshialand
Loyo
Ko-oren
Milchama
Nova Anglicana
Quebec and Shingoryeo
Quintessence of Dust
Ranoria
South Americanastan
South Newlandia
Super-Llamaland
TJUN-ia
The Greater Nordics
The Sherpa Empire
Tikariot
Zwangzug

Failing to Provide a Roster & RP in WBC 56 and 57, and thus removed from the council:
Quintessence of Dust, The Greater Nordics

Not Providing a Roster & RP in WBC 56, and will be removed if they do the same in WBC 57:
The Sherpa Empire, Tikariot

The following new/returning nation posted a roster and RP in 56 & 57, and will be voted upon at this time:
Dod Rava, The Star Enpire, Atheara (al though currently CTEd, met criteria), (Benjium entered, but did not roster/RP and are therefore not eligible)

The following new/returning nations posted a roster and RP in 57, and will be eligible to be voted upon after 58 if they do the same:
Magnus Phoenicia, Liventia, The Jovannic, Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer, Shieldstan, Montaña Verde

Therefore, the below nations are eligible to vote on the induction of Dod Rava, The Star Enpire, and Atheara to the WBC Council:
Abanhfleft
Banija
Barnettsville
Cassadaigua
Chromatika
Drawkland
Eshialand
Milchama
Nova Anglicana
Quebec and Shingoryeo
Ranoria
South Americanastan
South Newlandia
Super-Llamaland
TJUN-ia
The Sherpa Empire
Tikariot
Zwangzug

Nations may vote YES, NO, or ABSTAIN.

Both nations must receive a majority of votes cast to be inducted (not 50%+1 of Council members, as reflected in the most recent amendment).

HALL OF FAME VOTE:

In the absence of nations having been nominated, there is no need for a vote. The HoF spreadsheet has been updated to include the results of WBC 57. The HoF spreadsheet can be viewed here.

So, WBC Council, it's time to vote. Please vote on new Council members by 23:59 EST (UTC-5) on the 13th of November to this nation, World Baseball Classic. Thank you!

Due to RL becoming busier, I have decided to stop my involvement with NSSport baseball. It's been a lot of fun - baseball was, after all, where I won my first major international title. Developing the Amateurs into the Outliers and hosting many a tournament was a lot of fun. I want to thank South Newlandia, Super-Llamaland, and Ko-oren for the seasons with the LPB, and for other users that I have hosted with/collaborated with.

IC'ly, the collapse of the funding for the Chromatik portion of the LPB, coupled with the recent Abyssal invasion of the eastern half of Myana Island, has had a profoundly negative impact on most Chromatik sports (save the Red League, which is way too powerful and has enough money to absorb the hit). Chromatik amateur baseball still exists, but there won't be any efforts to have a professional baseball scene for a while.

All Chromatik players that have existed are considered free agents at this time. If you want inquire to have them on your team, please feel free to TG or DM me. I will show preference to those whom I've worked with in the past, but it may be worth a shot.

I may return to NSSport baseball someday, but I wish you all the best for now.

A reminder that votes for Saint-Jean-Jacques-sur-Mer for Council and nominations for President are due Monday, so get those in!

Secondly, how are people feeling about the IBS? It has become kind of the mid-cycle tournament, but participation, etc has fallen off. I also don’t know if I’m the person to keep it running. Do we want to keep it going, and if so, is there anyone willing to pick it up?

(My opinion only): The IBS is a potentially interesting tournament that falls victim to the fact that there are too many tournaments going on especially between World Cup cycles. Since it's low on the totem pole, offers no ranks, and doesn't have the prestige of the junior soccer tournaments so doesn't get the same focus. Personally, I've tried a few times to participate in the IBS but never RP'd. Knowing that trend of mine, I stopped signing up for it.

Having said that, I see no problem with keeping it going as a smaller niche tournament knowing that it won't get much participation though personally I would not want to be the one running it. I wouldn't lose sleep over it if it was discontinued.

Part of the challenge with IBS has been on the scheduling. From time to time, the IBS don't run early enough on the calendar that by the time it finishes, and the WBC gets host votes done and competition gets running, we are very close to having the end of a combined baseball cycle conflict with World Cups. The latter is important to mention, as the playoff scorinations are done on daily basis, meaning that there does exist a possibility of burnout for quite a few RPers if inching too close to it.

Srednjaci wrote:Winter Olympics are started, soon the WC cyclus will begin... don't know should be too much of everything.

I would argue on the contrary that the lack of competitions happening on the same time as World Cup cycle proper is part of the activity issue on the NSS we hear now and then.

It contributes both to the perception of RP arms race in World Cup, and the lack of tournaments one can participate besides the WC for a third to a half of a 3-4 month sporting cycle. While I do not agree with former one bit, latter is a clear issue with only the International Basketball Championships (IBC) consistently happening within that half of the sporting cycle. Having competitions, those with relatively less pressure, scheduled into it is not an issue.

Hosting the IBS was a miserable experience, which probably colours my view against it continuing. It seems harmless for it to do so, people don't have to enter it if they don't want to.

IDK if I'm the target audience, but I'm not really sure what OOC role the IBS serves. I definitely don't think it needs to run under WBC auspices, or regularly. I'm not opposed to keeping the name around for an occasional tournament run if someone wants to get hosting experience or whatever.

So I'm not particularly enthused about taking initiative/herding cats/being social/basically any of the duties of the president. On the other hand I also recognize it could be a situation where the same few people just rotate around the same few responsibilities because no one else wants to do it and then they all burn out, so I'm willing to run if it's my turn to be volunteered.
