Artawan Failed to Shine

Beçonailles - The Beçonailles Slam have finished its first match day with the top half of single competition make the first cut. In Pemecutan side, only one single that was competing. He is Komang Agus Artawan. After his win in Electrum International, his moved is being watched. But unfortunately, he failed to performed in his best form when he face Lucas Parvash from Acastanha.

The match start with a tight setting with both players didn't back down. Artawan eventually win the set with 6-4. In the second set, Parvash change his playing style. The change was a shocked for Artawan. He was late to adjust himself and drown in Parvash way of play. Artawan unable to find his way out which makes him made numerous unforced errors. In the end, he was defeated by 6-3. Artawan try to turn the table in the third set. He break away from Parvash playing style and start to find his own style. The situation turn into a tight match. Both players win a point interchangeably. A rally of points happen until the match entered a tie-break after 5-5 setting was reached. During the tie-break, Artawan failed to hold on to his performance and Parvash take an advantage from it. Parvash end the set with a 7-5 win. The result really disappoint Artawan that he throw his racket on the field while screaming widely.

The umpire warned him for his lewd behavior. The incident seems to affected Artawan's performance in the fourth set. He seems to already give up when Parvash lead the match by 4-2. He managed to win the 8th game to halt Parvash. But it was not last as Parvash win the 9th game and secured a ticket to the second round. The fans surely disappointed with the result. And everyone gossiping about his sudden rage at the end of the third set.

I was so upset that I can't hold up my anger. So I lashed it out. I realize afterwards that what I've done is too much. Honestly, I just mad to myself. To my bad performance.

Komang Agus Artawan

Sport critics, Dwika Asmawan, feels sorry for his behavior and he's afraid that Artawan might get punishment from it.

Although it is okay to express your anger or euphoria in the field but throwing the racket can be seen as something offensive. And to noticed that the particles flying from the broken racket can harm someone else. I hope that he can take a lesson from this incident.

Dwika Asmawan

Artawan is now waiting for a decision from NSTT about his incident. He stated that he will abide whatever the decision is. While a fellow teammate, Dewa Ayu Cintya Dewi, expressed her shocked after seeing the incident. She who attend the match was very shocked.

He always looks so calm and quiet. I'm so shocked. It feels like it's not him.

Dewa Ayu Cintya Dewi

Artawan become one of the few seeded players that exit earlier in the competition. The others are Dioro Hansil (32nd), Jason Gordon (19th) and Hildebrandt Weisgerber (27th).

Another day, another tantrum

Carmichael Brown took his anger out at the crowd in a straight sets first round loss to Vladimir Mikhailov out on Court 3 (6-4, 6-0, 6-3). Brown was given a warning, then a point penalty and finally a game penalty for unsportsmanlike conduct with several smashed racquets and audible swearing (including at one point expressing his disdain for the clay) making the Electrumite lose favour with the crowd across the first two sets.

From then on it was a rough and tumble match for the Electrumite as Mikhailov served a bagel in the second set (one game courtesy of that game penalty). For Mikhailov it was a routine match that was all about staying focused and not interacting too much with Brown. It was a masterclass in clay court tennis with topspin, depth and court positioning all being demonstrated by Mikhailov. There was no need to push the envelope too much as the Electrumite all to predictably self destructed in front of a hostile crowd.

The Electrumite seemed well out of his element on the clay, and while at moments Brown managed to redirect his anger into some very good points, it was his inconsistent approach at the net and his desire to end points early (a no-no on the clay) which gave the win to Mikhailov. It wasn't all too bad for the Electrumite though, he did manage to keep his cool in the third and final set, although of course he was well aware that one more warning would mean an automatic default and a loss of prize money.

"Mate there's absolutely no respect here in Beconailles. I'm sure they're nice people but I've never had a good time here. They always shout when I'm about to serve and hearing the crowd's comments to me saying 'Just play the game' and 'Get on with it' is very annoying to deal with when I'm actually trying to play," Brown said.

One wonders how far the ELTA will tolerate Brown's behaviour. It is not a good look constantly selecting a player who is known to blow up and who has no coach to keep discipline. In the past he has been able to back up his volatility with good performances throughout the year, coming in the top thirty at the end of Season 6 but since then it has been a slow, steady decline. With no shortage of Electrumite talent on the domestic tour and no prospects for improvement from Brown, perhaps this year will be the end of the line of his international career.

Cursed Clay: Britonish No. 2 and 4 falters in Recuecn as Toli and Acharya continue campaign...

Image
The Britonish Number 2: Jason Gordon hoped to overtake Ricardo Toli in the YTD rankings to become the Britonish Number 1 in Beçonailles, but was shockingly defeated in Round 1.

Five Britonish players had their chance today in Beçonailles, but only two of them made it through further consolidating a terrible season on clay for Britonish tennis players. On a positive note, Acharya is likely to make it into the World Top 200 after beating higher-ranked André Bapako...

For some Britonish fans, yesterday was not fun to watch. Fans of Jason Gordon, the Britonish number 2, had their hearts in their hands after he lost against Tristan Delisle in the first set 2-6. Jason Gordon had said that he thought he was quite strong going into the competition, but the results of the match perhaps show otherwise. Delisle obviously had the crowd behind him, a benefit that Gordon is likely to receive when he plays at the Britonish Open later on during the year. Though, with double the points available here in Recuecn, he would have rather had the crowd behind him here. So far this year, this has been Gordon's worst appearance at a Grand Slam with him only scooping up ten NSTT points but Gordon can now put away the clay-court season and look at the preferential court surface for Britonish players - grass. However, before he focuses on grass, he is likely to be first in line to represent Britonisea at the upcoming 16th Summer Games (as Toli is unlikely to represent the country), with tennis being held in the National Electrum University - Prescott. This may distract his attention from the grass season, as Britonisea seeks for a medal in the male singles category that it did not receive last Olympics.

Derek Dubrovnik's clay campaign comes to an end after he lost to qualifier Reda Rahimi. During the first set, Rahimi took Dubrovnik to a tight tiebreaker where the Briton was able to push ahead in a fashion that was expected of him. The Briton was then blind-sighted by the powerful Reda he took the next three sets, including a tiebreak in the third. Dubrovnik will continue to struggle to reclaim his title as Britonish No.1 but is also very much likely to head to the Olympic Games, where he might be able to claim some glory. Dubrovnik now qualifies to for the upcoming Tier 2 tournaments and it's looking as though he will be seeded highly in that competition if he participates. Dubrovnik could use this as an opportunity to jump ahead of Ralph Newkarn, who will play tomorrow. Arthur Phoenix-Howard gave his competitor a run for his money in the first set. 23rd seed Jean van de Kloor from TJUN-ia must've been shocked after Phoenix-Howard won a break point early in the set. Though, it seemed too good to be true with van de Kloor winning the next three sets, including a bagel in the final set. Phoenix-Howard said that had stamina issues. This is Phoenix-Howard's second Grand Slam tournament after failing to make it through qualification at the Mercedinian Open and Cenian Open. As he moves into the grass-court season, Phoenix-Howard will be able to focus on those Tier 2 tournaments that will help him gain better match ups in the larger tournaments such as the Grand Slam.

For Toli, it wasn't a straightforward match and certainly not a scenario you would want during your debut at a Grand Slam. Toli had to battle through a best of five-setter, with TJUN-ia desperate to knock another Briton out of the competition. Everything seemed plain sailing during the first two sets, winning those 6-4, 6-4 but Toli's cool started to slip away in the 3rd and 4th set. You could see that Toli was becoming visibly upset at the result and increasingly tired with the match now going on for over two hours. After the fourth set, the two players were neck on neck, with Toli ready to fight fire with fire and qualify to the next round of the tournament. Ricardo only picked up 10 points (ie Round 1) in both the previous Grand Slams and thought, as he admitted in his press conference, that there was a chance he would have an early exit here in Recuecn. However, Toli was on top form during the final set only allowing his opponent two games to six meaning he makes it to round 2 - the furthest he's gotten in a Grand Slam since his fantastic grass-court win last year. In a shock, Kush Acharya beat André Bapako of Acastanha in four sets, finishing the final set in 6-2. Acharya's win means that he will jump ahead of Elizabeth Quehall in the NSTT rankings, but whether he will catch up to Aaliyah de León? Only time will tell.

Tomorrow, three Britons will be in action. Ralph Newkarn will begin his campaign to become the Britonish No.2 after Gordon's shock defeat, while the Britonish girls -Aaliyah de Léon and Leone Na will also make an appearance. Tomorrow will also see the campaign begin for the doubles, with the Toli and Quehall hoping for grand slam glory, alongside the other Britonish players who have been making very strong appearances in the doubles.

Britonish matchings of Beçonailles will be shown on BITC 1 with full coverage of the Grand Slam on BITC 2 and BITC Sport...

Romanescu Ponders Meaning of Life

By Elymur Amwan

BEÇONAILLES, REÇUEÇN – Adabian tennis star Emily Romanescu is in a reflective mood heading to her first-round match at Les Championnats against Isis Dimpal, telling journalists at her pre-tournament press conference that she is at peace “whatever the result is” and inviting them to discover what the meaning of life is.

“I’m in a good state of mind,” Romanescu stated cheerfully at the beginning of the press conference when asked regarding her preparations for the Dimpal match. “I feel happy and ready and I can’t wait to get on the court.

“You know, I’ve been training pretty hard with my coach Petros [Samp], and with Foger [Rederer] and Amarsin [Gandas], trying to improve all aspects of my game. And now the next thing for me is to go out there and prove myself.”

Romanescu praised fellow Adabian players Rederer and Gandas, noting how she had been inspired by their “hard work and dedication”, and stated her belief that she can make it far in the tournament. “If I just stay cool and believe In myself, take control of the big moments, I think I can do very well here. I definitely am confident in myself.”

As the press conference progressed, Romanescu grew more pensive, reflecting on how even a Grand Slam title seems worthless “in the grander scheme of things” and bemoaning the scale of poverty and economic inequality in the multiverse.

“I was watching the news the other day and they were talking about people starving, homeless people, those who live in the streets and have to beg for food,” Romanescu recalled. “It really makes you wonder just how greatly some people in this multiverse suffer and sacrifice just to survive on a day-to-day basis, and it certainly made me more grateful for the things that I have.”

After urging viewers “anywhere in the world, but especially in Adab” to donate to charities catering to people living below the poverty line, Romanescu proceeded to contemplate the meaning of life, noting that there have been “various views” regarding this subject and that she herself “doesn’t really have the answer to that”.

“It would be great if we could all, you know, try to work out what the meaning of life really is. If we all share the same view of what life truly means and what our purpose here is, maybe we can have peace,” Romanescu said. “I don’t know if it’s ever gonna happen though.”

BBC OFFICIAL REPORT: Doubles Troubles Outshined by Singles Successes

By Tennis Correspondent Amy X. Bama

Beçonailles, Reçueçn - West Barack and East Obama's complete elimination from the Beçonailles doubles was mostly ignored as Obamen across the country gathered to celebrate the triumphs of its singles players, with three out of the four remaining Obamen proceeding to the next round. Most notably, one of the lowest ranked Obamen Michelle Obama knocked out World #88 player Marcus Hathwar, in a giant slaying that will certainly boost the morale of the players.

Ildonyan Jason Argo once again faced off against an Obaman, but could not grab a second successive victory as he was defeated by the GOAT, Lily Lobamas. The fantastic Lobamas lobbed the ball all over the court, with Argo unable to keep up with her unconventional serving. While this cost Lobamas the 2nd and 4th set, forcing the match to extend to six sets, her determination (and pure skill) paid off as she finally defeated her opponent 6-3 in the final set. To no surprise at all of course, as she's the best player on the team. Objectively.

Anyways, Michelle Obama delivered Electrumite Marcus Hathwar a surprise exit from the Grand Slam by defeating him 6-1, 6-3 and 6-3. Hathwar struggled with Obama's strong, powerful serves, with his returning serves flying all over the court and hitting a few spectators. While he did pull back some wins in the latter two sets, he was no match for Obama's dominance. Her deserved succession in the next round has prompted widespread applause from the Obamen, and keen interest into how she approaches her next few matches.

In another court, debutant Christine Obama defeated Britonisea's Aaliyah de León in a thrilling match with both players at the top of their games. Obama initially defeated a daydreaming de León 6-1 in the first set in spite of some sloppy serves from Obama, de León focused and managed to eke out a 7-5 victory over Obama in the second set. However, this was followed by Obama's narrow 7-6 and 6-4 victories, but both players put in performances in the final three sets that they could be proud of.

However, the clay is not always as green on the other courts. Despite the hype surrounding Natalie Obamad, the Obamad genes showed as Natalie followed in Nicole's footsteps to bottle a lead. With many excited at the prospect of yet another Obaman defeating an Electrumite following a 6-3 victory in the first set, Livinia Moore proved her worth by smashing Obamad 6-2 in all of the next three sets. Obamad proved particularly incompetent on defence, missing several easy responses to Moore's firecracker serves, and will definitely be an area of training that Arnold Obamazomovich will focus on when the competition ends.

Unfortunately, no redemption was on the cards for Obamad despite being paired up with the most skilled player in the competition, the one and only Lobamas. The nail-biting match against the United Adaikes dul Indigo Crawford and Dale Carman was full of twists and turns - the Obamen took the lead with a convincing 6-2 victory in the first set, followed by 6-4 and 7-5 defeats in the next two sets in spite of Lobamas' best efforts in securing consolation points. The Obamen managed to prolong the game and steal a 6-4 victory in the fourth set to set up a tiebreaker. However, the tired Obamen could not cope anymore, and the Adaikesians destroyed the pair 6-0 in the final set, a humiliation that didn't properly represent their previous efforts in the match.

Finally, Emily Barock and Amy H. Bama (not related) were sent home as they crashed out against the Cenian combo of Liam Penderyn and Jac Iegis. They were defeated 6-4, 7-5 and 6-4 again, but considering that the pair only had an outside chance of progressing further against players from the tennis titans, their performance was actually more impressive than the scoreline suggested, particularly with the chemistry between Barock and Bama which frequently frustrated the Cenians.

With three more Obamen remaining in the competition, people across the nation are eager to see where their next matches take them. While complete victory in the singles is a pipe dream, a good run by any of the three will certainly remain in Obamen's memories for a long time.
Sonnel is the place.

New PTA Tour Confirm

Pemecutan Puri - It took nearly 3 weeks for the PTA to regulated the new domestic tour for Pemecutanian amateur and junior players. Although they have created a tour before and have run for 2 seasons, the tour was freeze after protest from the tennis clubs over representation.

The clubs ask the association to increase the number of tournaments to cover the representation. The clubs are also pointing out about regulation to separate amateur and junior competition or held an age base competition for younger players. The idea however where very much welcome by the association. Although further regulation is needed such age division and who will held the event for them. With 30 tennis clubs in the country and only 7 of them with a decent facility, the association try to find compromise.

The hardest one is finding another clay and grass court venue. We have a very limited club with these 2 court options. There are only 4 clay clubs and 3 grass clubs. So if the plan is run, the schedule have to carefully placed these venues.

PTA spokesperson

The PTA also stated that the previous tour will continue to held for the amateur players as they are not affected with the new regulation. For junior players, it will be divided into 3 age divisions, U-18, U-15, U-12. There will be fewer events for them and it will be held simultaneously to cut the cost for the host. It is also to ease scheduling especially for clay and grass court.

The tennis club managers are agree with the plan and fully support the PTA for the success of the plan. The next step is to regulated and scheduling the events for the age division junior tours. There is still a lot of time to decide the schedule. There are Olympic next and of course the Pekan Olahraga Pemecutan which is schedule in mid-September. The association focused might be divided for both competition aside from NSTT that is held continuously. Currently, Pemecutanian players are competing at the Beçonailles Slam in Reçueçn which just finished it's single and double first round competition.

The Turnip: I, Sweet-T, Will Spill The Tea On Beconailles
by Sweet-T, blogger

It's that time of the year where tennis players rub themselves in dirt as they compete fora motherfuckin 2,000 points at Recuecn. However, the organisers of Beconailles have tried desperately behind the scenes to suppress this article which contains three controversies that they have been covering up. In other words, I, Sweet-T, the sweetest beverage of them all, will slice open my entire body and throw all of my innards everywhere and in so doing spilling the tea on this tournament.

1. Brown calls clay BULLSHIT

In that tennis game that Carmichael Brown was in, he called the Beconailles clay as being BS. Leaving aside the fact that I prefer saying the word 'game' to refer to the entirety of a tennis 'match', we naturally had to investigate this accusation. Of course, when we asked the tournament organisers as to whether the surface was BULLSHIT, they said 'of course not.' But a denial is not proof. We don't know if a cow had squeezed red dirt out of its behind. We simply don't know. But what we can do is ask whether this surface has similar properties to BULLSHIT. Well. It smells. It can be used as a building material. It's pretty brown. Those are the three distinct properties of BULLSHIT and on these three conclusions we are ready to fact check Carmichael Brown as one hundred percent the truth. It's disgusting that the Beconailles organisers allow tennis players to play on this filthy surface.

2. Kid's mudcake selling like hotcakes

In other news, in a remote corner of the Grand Slam park, an entrepreneurial kid has gathered the dust from around the grounds to make some of the world's most delicious mudcake. Amalgams of dirt, clay and water, these have been selling like hot cakes because as many tennis players know, the Recuecn crowd sure love to voice their displeasure by booing and flinging mudcakes at whomever they dislike. We sent our intern Ezekiel Starlight to sample the wares but instead of throwing the cakes he ate them, despite him full well knowing that they were made partly from BULLSHIT. Surprisingly, he said that the mudcakes were like crack, which is exactly what a person who has clearly never had crack before would say. Anyways for his journalistic malfeasance, we have decided to not take him out on assignment anymore -- he shall be forever stuck in a cubicle writing inane listicles.

3. The tournament was actually renamed to avoid association with an actual racist

Yes that's right. The tournament only names itself Beconailles because its old name, Les Championnats referred to the famous Recuecnian racist named Leslie "Les" Championnats. Leslie was an old batty fool but unfortunately he was the first person to introduce tennis in Recuecn, advertising the sport as a way to hit Electrumite people in the face with very fast green balls, which was all the rage at the time. After the ELTA constantly complained about the name of the tournament, the Recuecnian Tennis Association renamed the tournament to be Beconailles. Of course, Berconailles is named after the town whose name came from a slightly less racist person named Phillip Beconailles.

Fortunate Farra get's to Second Round in Dramatic fashion

Within the first round of Beconailles, it seemed like an impossible task for every Babylonian player. Although it was a shock to see 3 Babylonians enter the first round, it was an even bigger shock to see Akbar Farra, currently 29 years old, defeat Leonora Gaditas, ranked number 28 in the world, in a 5-set classic. Although expectations were low for Farra, fans across Babylonia got to watch the match on TV for free, and saw Babylonia's historically greatest player get a second round spot. The other 2 first round players in the Singles were defeated, although Harith Tamer's performance was a noble effort, bringing his opposition to 5 sets.

Farra was expected to see defeat, however, shocked not just the domestic fans, but those watching it at the court stadium, when Farra saw victory in the first 2 sets, winning 6-3 and 6-3. However, Farra's age got to him by Set 3, seeing defeat to Gaditas in set 4 and 5, bringing to the 5th and final set. It was projected by Babylonia TV that Farra had a 23% of victory before the 5th set, however, in blockbuster fashion, Farra saw a 7-5 victory to claim a second round game.

Rederer Denies Speculating in Stocks

By Elymur Amwan

BEÇONAILLES, REÇUEÇN – Adabian tennis star Foger Rederer took a few minutes off his training session today to deny reports by online tabloids that he has been taking part in “wild and reckless speculation” in the stock market.

Addressing a crowd of supporters and journalists who had gathered outside the court where he was training, Rederer made it clear that, while he does invest in the stock market, he tries to “choose [his] investments wisely” and does not “randomly choose stocks like a blind man”.

“I do invest, yes, but I am not a trader,” Rederer declared. “I don’t look at graphs and decide to put my money in and then sell like 30 seconds later. I’ve always believed in the wisdom of making long-term investments.

“I don’t know why the tabloids came out with strange and misleading reports like that. I don’t know who and where they got their information from. All I can say, honestly, is that I think they need to check their sources.”

Rederer’s clarification came after The Adab City Herald published an article, based on information from a source named only as “S” who claimed to be a “close associate of Rederer”, stating that the Adabian number one was “throwing his money away on a bunch of reckless investments” and that he nearly considered declaring bankruptcy “earlier this year”.

“I would definitely never do those things,” Rederer said. “To each their own, but I believe in value investing. Basically you look for companies which are below their ideal value and you invest in them. It’s a long-term strategy and requires patience.

“On that note, I’d love to see more kids invest. Teach them financial literacy and all that. I think it can a whole world of difference in more than a few people’s lives.”

The Britonish girls are OUT but our Ralphie stays in...

Ralph Newkarn beats Kika Dovan from Ceni: The Britonish No.3 continues his campaign to catch up to Jason Gordon after his premature exit from Recuecn yesterday...

It was another mixed day for Britonish tennis as half of the doubles Britonish pairings lost their matches, and both Britonish women in the singles are out. However, wins appeared where we expected them...

Focusing on Ralph Newkarn, the young six-foot-one rising star of Britonish tennis has shown his worth over the past year, jumping over 80 places in the NSTT rankings to now place just outside of the top 50 - though it is expected that after his win at the clay-court grand slam yesterday, finishing in the top 50 is looking highly likely. Jason Gordon's shock defeat yesterday must've inspired Ralph to remain cool, calm and collected during his match against Kika Dovan, who ranks literally one place ahead of Ralph in the rankings - only ten points ahead of him. If we focus on their rankings alone, we would be able to say that it was a 50/50 match and no one could be sure who would qualify for the next round. However, on paper, it was expected that Kika Dovan might have had the edge as Kika reached the Round of 16 of Beçonailles last season, suggesting that Kika might have had a bit more experience than Ralph may have had going into this tournament. At the Tier 2 tournament, Electrum International, Kika reached the Semi-Finals after being seeded fifth and so came into this competition very strong. However, it was Ralph Newkarn with the upper hand in this match. Ralph started off with a fire in his stomach, wrapping up the first set in 40 minutes - only allowing Kika Dovan to have two games to his six, breaking twice during the set. Ralph Newkarn walked over to his bench after the first set very calm as he mentally prepared himself for the rest of the match. There was some resistance from Kika during the second set as we were treated to Dovan's experience on the clay court. The match was forced into a tiebreak, which was a hotly contested one where we could have seen either tennis player win the set. However, the Briton managed to hold on, letting a cutesy "come on" as he won the second set. He was two up and it would take Dovan a lot to win the match from here. The next set started off quite well for Ralph again, with the set being not too dissimilar from the first one. As Ralph started to pull away, Kika was determined to cause some disruption to Ralph's plan, breaking back during the third set. Ralph gave Kika a stern look as he was stunned by a volley on break point. As Ralph walked to his bench, you could see how positively calculated he is, with him lost in thought about his next steps to ensure he would win this set. On Dovan's serve, Ralph managed to break back, playing similar tactics as Kika, and exposing any weaknesses that he could find. In the end, Ralph won that final set, joining Ricardo Toli and Kush Acharya into the next round of Beçonailles. With under 50% of Britonis left in the draw this early into the competition, it's fair to say that Beçonailles is proving to be a tough gig for Britonish people.

Leone Na has had a terrible day, losing both her singles match and doubles match. Leone Na's loss in the doubles with Abi Forrest was shocking for the XV Olympiad champions. Queenie Matadora/Xander Spailla from Illdonya caused issues for the Olympic champions from the get-go, winning the first set. It seemed that, during the first set, even though the Britonish pair were trying hard to spice the match up with an experimental range of different playing styles, it just was not working for them. They managed to claw it back during the second set, 6-3 in the fastest set of the match but the third set saw it swing in favour of the pair from Illdonya. Leone Na also lost her singles match, with her place on the Britonish tennis delegation in doubt. While she has made some improvements, she will be hoping to be in the Top 100 before the Mercedinian Open which is still possible. The only thing stopping her is the XVI Olympiad with Leone Na expected to represent Britonisea in two categories there.

In other news, winners of the Gergary Invitational, Jaguar Zenteanite/Zeke Newham, showed top form in their Round 1 match to make it to the Round of 32 against Waisnor duo, Jan Turovets/Vitaly Rakov. The pair don't have an easy match next as they play (10) Bartolo Sabanero/Qualo Tabos from Aqual. Ricardo Toli will be playing twice tomorrow, playing alongside the amazing Elizabeth Quehall against Cenians, Liam Penderyn/Jac Iegis (CEN) while in the singles, he plays Paula Suárez of Aqual. How many Britons will make it through to Round 3? We couldn't possibly tell you...

Britonish matchings of Beçonailles will be shown on BITC 1 with full coverage of the Grand Slam on BITC 2 and BITC Sport...

BBC OFFICIAL REPORT: Plucky Obamen Hold Firm to Deny Top Ranked Players Round of 32 Spot

By Tennis Correspondent Amy X. Bama

Beçonailles, Reçueçn - Obamen watching today's round of Beçonailles matches can breathe a quick sigh of relief as the nerve-racking games have resulted in two Obamen securing places in the round of 32.

Officially branded "Giant Slayer" Michelle Obama faced an even tougher opponent this round, with World #25 Gaëlle Sellier playing on home clay against her. Michelle Obama once again exhibited her strength and prowess, serving bullet-like balls right into Sellier's territory, causing her to win the first two sets 7-5 and 6-4, with only one set to go to confirm yet another surprise victory. However, her stamina was her downfall, with Sellier striking back in an inspired comeback to force the game into a tiebreaker with 6-2 and 6-4 victories in the next two sets. With those rooting for the underdog worried that she'd just thrown away the victory, Michelle Obama pulled through with a very close 8-6 victory in the final set, sealing the victory with one of the best games she's played this season.

Christine Obama faced an even bigger hurdle, with the youngster plunged right into the deep end against World #11 Joe Katsi from TJUN-ia. Like Michelle Obama, Christine Obama also went up in the first two sets 6-4 and 7-6, with the bookies increasingly worried at the unexpected wins. And once again like Michelle Obama, she lost both of the next two sets 6-4, and looked set to be sent home when Katsi went 3-1 up in the fifth set. However, Christine Obama suddenly gained absolute dominance over her opponent, and went on to win 6-3 in the last and very intense set.

Unfortunately, the best player in the world Lily Lobamas had to settle for a defeat against World #20 Lucija Bagarić, being soundly defeated 6-2, 6-2 and 6-1. This was the real shock result of the night, but it was clear that Lobamas was giving minnows like Bagarić a chance to progress further, and in real life definitely doesn't play as bad. This is facts.
Sonnel is the place.

The Turnip: Simmons Suffers Existential Crisis After Learning That Rederer Is Both Younger And Ranked Higher In Tennis, Not To Mention Hotter
by Billiam Maskey, chief-editor-in-chief

Relatable! Andrew Simmons broke down in tears today in his exclusive interview with us after we informed him that Foger Rederer, the new tennis sensation from a country named jointly for an indefinite article and a dance move, was younger, hotter and ranked higher than him in tennis.

The interview started just like any other interview. He gave us a peck on both cheeks, and on the nose, as in the Recuecn manner and lounged on a sofa. Our first question was: "What do you make of the fact that Foger Rederer is basically a younger, hotter version than you and that he is also ranked higher than you right now in the NSTT."

"Seriously? Who does Rederer think he is?" asked Simmons. "Because there's no way someone can be all three of those things. You can either be younger and hotter than me, younger and ranked higher or hotter and ranked higher, but not all three. To do so defies the laws of physics." When we told him he was an auto-biographer, part-time philosopher, amateur investor and tennis wunderkind, Simmons' mind just about exploded.

There were only a few moments of silence. We didn't know if he was catatonic or silently processing his thoughts. We let him stand as still as a gargoyle for ten days. When we returned he looked at us despairingly. We did all we could to shake him from his stupor before finally he broke his silence.

"Oh. My. God. What a waste of time tennis turned out to be. He's won a gold medal at the Olympics and he's younger than me! What the hell. When I was his age I was nowhere near as high in the rankings, nor was I high on life compared to him. Because that means I could have won a gold medal at his age but I couldn't. Who knows where he'll be when he's my age, he'll probably win like several Grand Slams and have at least one more ab than me. Plus he's an investor and he's already writing his own book. Why can't everyone else be as lazy as I was when I was young? Stop making us look bad."

Simmons continued. "And that's not mentioning the fact that he's unnaturally hot. I mean the symmetry of his face fits both the rule of thirds and Euler's golden ratio. Gee you really can't beat that. Anywho, because of these undeniable facts I have no choice but to resign from tennis. What's the point spending your whole life on a pursuit that someone younger than you can be better than you at it. It sickens me to the core. Good bye."

Strong words from Simmons. We're just happy that Simmons didn't appear to have any long-term implications from sitting like a gargoyle for ten days -- we don't even know how he went to the bathroom and quite frankly we don't want to know.

Beçonailles Slam

BAD PERFOMANCESS BY ŠPIRIČIĆ AND ŠTIMAC!

BY

IVAN JURLINA

Dear viewers, welcome to the show "IT'S TENNIS TIME!"
Although we expected better results from our two best players, that still did not happen. štimac had big problems with the young Dora Klemenčić in the first round and today Mary Manza of Illdonya was better than him. The debutant made a big surprise and came to a well-deserved celebration. Štimac seemed sluggish, slow and made an incredible amount of mistakes. It remains for him to make preparations for the continuation of the season, and the Olympic Games are coming first.

Mary Manza (ILD) 7 6 7 6 7
Ivan Štimac (10) (SRE) 6 7 5 7 5

TENA ŠPIRIČIĆ
Tena Špiričić after this year's two finals, one Grand Slam in individual competition and Tier1 in double competition but with no any title for now. But Tena will not win anything in this tournament either. She finished the competition in the second round of the single and double competition.
In singles, better than our tennis player was Minna Dawn, a debutant from Illdony. Unbelievable but it happened that our two best players dropped out of the debutants.

Minna Dawn (ILD) 1 6 6 6
Tena Špiričić (12) (SRE) 6 3 0 1

LUCIJA BAGARIĆ
Lucija Bagarić continues her ascent to the top of the NSTT. Lucija is playing very well this season. She does a great job with her's team. The stylle is still very aggressive, offensive. Her strokes are powerful but also precise. Her service is still great and the fastest in today's match was 217kmh.
Lucija was more successful today than Lily Lobamas. Lobamas passed the qualifiers but in this match the players from West Barack and East Obama had no chances against the playful Lucija.

Lily Lobamas (Q) (WBO) 2 2 1

ALINA KORELEVA
Alina Koreleva is also playing very well this season and seems to have cemented her position on the Olympic team. Alina has won a tournament this season, her first and so far the only one in her career. Although she won this tournament in the second round, Alina was in big trouble.
Her opponent in the second round, Aaren Seabrooke of Adab provided a great game and Alina had to work hard to win this match.

Aaren Seabrooke (UAD) 6 4 5 7 5

LEONID AND GORAN IN THIRD ROUND!

After a series of bad results for them, Leo and Goran faced a series of criticisms from fans and the tennis profession. The guys have often been criticized for being too preoccupied with activities out of tennis courts such as filming commercials, music videos, sitcoms and appearing at many events and completely neglecting tennis with these activities.
Guys, on the other hand, justify that their great popularity makes them vulnerable and that they cannot concentrate on tennis when they are accompanied to training by an army of fans and paparazzi.
They are even considering moving to another country for a few months so they can dedicate themselves to training and tennis. Either way, the guys aren’t at last season’s levels and we have a long tennis calendar ahead of us and there are the Olympics where they are defending a silver medal.
In the duel of the second round, Leo and Goran had our rising teenage stars, Dora and Petra, as opponents.
The boys didn’t have any big problems and won that match 2-0 in sets.

Leonid Farkaš/Goran Ibrahimović (7) (SRE) 6 6
Dora Klemenčić/Petra Mačinković (SRE) 3 4

Adrian Lost His Touch?

Beçonailles - In the continuation of Beçonailles Slam, a shocking result was happening. Adrian Putra, the 16th seed of the competition lost to Selina Favreau, a 241st ranked player. The match today's was a total mess for Adrian Putra. Started with a wrong start in the first set. Adrian losing his pace as Favreau lead the match. He often made errors and losing focus. Adrian was deeply under pressure. He eventually defeated by 6-2.

The second set, Adrian was still not recover. Favreau win each points quite easily as Adrian made numerous errors. No one knows what happen to him. In the match, it looks not like him. When Favreau lead 4-1, Adrian ask for a break. The situation turn into something concerning after the umpire find out that Adrian has caught a fever. His body is burning up. The umpire ask if Adrian wants to walkout from the match. But Adrian refuse. After getting permission to take some medication, Adrian was back in action. He was able to catched up although he lose again in the end.

Adrian pushed himself to the limit in the third set. The medication seems to take effect and he was back to his performance. Although it was still not his best. Favreau still able to give difficulties to him. In the end, Adrian turn the table and win the set by 6-1. But the side effect took control of him. As he forced himself, he find himself out of power. He often failed to pass the net. His lob failed. His backhands widden. His forehand fall out of the line. Adrian finally give up with 6-1 defeat.

After the match, Adrian fell unconscious at the changing room. He was rushed to nearby hospital for further treatment.

He (read: Adrian) is still in recovery. He has a high fever and lose a lot of fluids. But he is okay now. And if his stats are getting better, he can be release in two or three days.

Adrian lose was very unfortunate for him and might hurting his position in the rank. Although point-wise, Adrian finished better this season rather than last season where he lost in the first round. While in Beçonailles, Pemecutan still have several players left. In single, there are 3 players left. 3rd seed Ngurah Putra Muliawan is still strong after defeating Adaikes player, Dale Carman in a tight 5-sets match. Then we have Dewa Ayu Cintya Dewi who surprisingly defeats 8th seed, Ardil Navsal of Ceni in a tie-break streak match. And the last, 30th seed, Indah Susanti who win against another Adaikes player, Teagan Cantrell also in 5-sets match. Beside Adrian Putra, Ayu Ratih Kemalasari is another player who defeated in this round.

While in double, only 2 Pemecutanian pairs that left. They are 9th seed, Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani who defeat Beepeean pair, Gethin Syde/Phillip Mabbott in 3-sets match. And of course, Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati. The 14th seed pair, win in a straight set match against TJUN-ia pair, Valentina Spetsova/Austin McDanielson. In this round, Jayadi Ahmad/Luh Putu Yundari and mixed pair, Leanne Stewart/Ilham Nugraha who are ended their campaign in the tournament.

Tennis

”Other things fun, but tennis still nr. 1 sport,” Union agrees.
By: Runa Laurvig

After a hectic period of the Union competing internationally in a wide array of different sports, a newly conducted poll shows that tennis is still the most popular sport amongst Union citizens.

International sports seems to be everywhere you look these days. The World Cup Qualifications and Cup of Harmony campaigns inspired an intense football frenzy during those frantic weeks and months, and the surprising triumph in the International Baseball Slam by an amateur Segeltorp team has really elevated the sport of baseball, especially amongst kids. The ongoing cracquet GCF ODI Trophy has perhaps not reached quite the same heights of popular appeal, but the extensive government drive to make cracquet a Union game might very well bear fruit in times to come.

Still, despite all this, Union fans continue to point to tennis when asked what their favorite sport is.

“Football and baseball is alright, but I’ve never been a big fan of team sports,” one respondent elaborated in the free text section of the questionnaire. “I enjoy the dignity of tennis,” another respondent said, continuing, “There is something honorable and timeless about two champions engaged on those courts. I do not care for doubles, it is too messy.” Others pointed to the fact that tennis has a long history in the Union, with one respondent claiming evidence for the game being played on the slopes of the Interior as way back as the early 7th century. A fair few also highlighted the fact of Union prowess on the international circuit as a deciding factor of popularity. “I am the best player in the world. It’s a fact, because I’m ranked at number 1. So of course tennis is the most popular sport,” one respondent reasoned.

Tangeus Falk, head of the GTF, commented on the results of the poll earlier today, saying, “I find it spiriting that so many within the Union continue to see the strength of the One Ball. Because there are many balls, and balls of different kinds. All while they are all the One Ball, there can of course only be One Ball.”

So while tennis is no longer the only Union game, it still seems to occupy a privileged place amongst the populace, and we can expect many to tune in to the broadasts from Recuecn and Beçonailles as Les Championnats continues. The Union is still represented by top seed Georg Heraklit and NSTT nr. 1 Dorotea Granit in the singles competition, while the aforementioned Heraklit and his partner Arne Oxwald remain in the doubles. In this bracket we also find all-Union team Sibylla Naess and Timaeus Andersson, who have surprised many with the advancement, alongside Augusta Björnstjärna and her Electrumite partner Anthony Kawasaki.

Perceived win actually loss – 3 out of 4 not able to comprehend cracquet scoring system.

”Cup of Harmony good lesson in managing expectations,” says Dandelion Coach Bjørnstjerne Eriksen.

”We’ve got a real shot at winning the whole shebang,” Dandelion fans asserts ahead of Copa Rushmori.

CONFIRMED: The Britonish players who have booked their spot for XVI Olympiad in Prescott

Image
Kush Acharya heads to the third round: Kush stuns all as he qualifies to the Round of 32 in Beçonailles but still has not booked his place for the Olympics...

On the day which saw all three Britonish singles still left in the draw qualify for the next round, the official tennis page for Britonisea confirmed the list of names who will make their way to the National Electrum University in Prescott for the Games of the XVI Olympiad

For the most part, today's matches at Beçonailles seemed to be very much in favour in our Britonish players with all three singles tennis players going through to the Round of 32. To put this into perspective, in the Electrum Slam only Jason Gordon made it that far out of eight players, and in Ceni at the start of the year, again only Jason Gordon had made it making this the most successful tournament for Britonish players so far this year. However, there is still a long way to go before any of these players start to earn big points in the competition. All three players; Ricardo Toli, Ralph Newkärn and Kush Acharya are only guaranteed 6.25% of the total points that they could win in Beçonailles - with only 130 points bagged. All of them, especially Ricardo Toli, will be hoping to make it as far as possible with Ricardo now being the highest seed in his section of the tournament thanks to Valery Ushakov of Waisnor beating fifth seed and winner of the Britonish Open, Lonus Varalin of Ceni. Though, Toli doesn't have an easy match on his hands as he plays Jean van de Kloor of TJUN-ia after his easy straight-set victory over Reda Rahimi. Jean van de Kloor will be looking to knock out yet another Briton after knocking out poor Arthur Phoenix-Howard in the first round earlier in the championships. For Ralph, we are starting to see the power and grit that he had during the grass-court grand slam - the Mercedinian Open where he made it to the quarterfinal to play fellow Briton Ricardo Toli who went on to win in Mercedini. Ralph will be playing against Selina Favreau, ranked 241st in the world. While on paper this is Ralph's match to lose, Selina took out the sixteenth seed, Adrian Putra from Pemecutan which does not bode well for the Briton. Kush Acharya's victory comes as a welcome surprise, as he beats Eva Sarvan in a massive five-setter to make it through to the Round of 32 which most certainly will help him if he were to enter Tier 2 tournaments now. However, he will be nervous ahead of his upcoming match as he plays World No. 3 and Olympic Champion, Foger Rederer - who took out his last opponent in straight sets. It would be a massive achievement in Kush were to overcome the Adabian, and while he will have the whole nation behind him, he most certainly will need to be at the best of his game to win against Federer.

It is unfortunate that Kush will be playing such a huge player as the match he is about to play will help decide whether he has qualified to the Olympic Games or not. Due to Britonisea's form in men's tennis, the nation has been given 4 spots to fill as part of the ABEN Delegation for the games. Kush will be battling Derek Dubrovnik who is sitting on the sidelines hoping that Kush doesn't get far enough to steal his spot and plane to Electrum. Today we will focus on the men's before tomorrow we will address the women's players.

Image
Team Britonisea: There's only one space on the Britonish team left, with either Derek Dubrovnik or Kush Acharya vying for that spot...

Firstly, the fourth male player is set to be Britonish, but it is not yet confirmed who exactly that will be. Derek Dubrovnik is currently ranked 77th in the world, but barely showed up to the Grand Slam putting the ABEN Olympic Committee's trust that he will do well into jeopardy. They have announced that while they are happy for Jason Gordon, Ralph Newkarn and newbie Lukas Valerio to head to Electrum from their Olympic Games, they were not sure about Derek's progress in the NSTT. With Kush only two rounds away from overtaking Derek, the Olympic Committee will decide between him and Derek, with their choice being the final representative for the country at next month's Games. The elephant in the room is grand slam champion Ricardo Toli missing out on the Olympics once again. Ricardo did represent team Britonisea in two disciplines last year, but was expected to be in the Men's singles. However, Toli decided to miss out on that and focus on the Britonish and Mercedinian Open which did him very well. Ricardo now ranks in the top 10 for the first time in years. He has adopted that theory again for this year as well, passing the baton down to Jason Gordon who will lead the team to Olympic glory. Alongside Gordon will be Ralph Newkarn. Ralph managed to get to the Round of 16 in the Mercedinian Open which impressed the ABEN Olympic Committee. Ralph wasn't a part of the Olympic delegation last year and so it will be a nice surprise to him that he is one of the first to be selected. Finally, Lukas Valerio will be a part of the Olympic team. Now, Lukas has not debuted in the NSTT but will debuting at the upcoming Tabeira International after a very successful Britonish Tennis Tour throughout the year. The young 23-year-old, 6ft1 right-handed player is expected to be one of the new highlights of Britonish tennis stars. He has been fast tracked to the Olympics to give him international exposure which the Britonish Tennis Tour does not offer. It will be interesting how Lukas handles the pressure, but only time will tell.

Tomorrow we will address the female players. It is expected that either Nightom or Estogium will provide a female player for the singles to fill up the fourth position.

Britonish matchings of Beçonailles will be shown on BITC 1 with full coverage of the Grand Slam on BITC 2 and BITC Sport...

Arthur Leloup had never been Reçuecian tennis's brightest star, so the last year of tournaments, over the course of which he began to climb up the rankings again and refine his performance, came as a mild surprise to many--not least of whom was Arthur himself. His coaches and friends who got to spend time with him as he prepared for the clay grand slam had noticed he seemed to be of two minds. Sometimes he was happy and upbeat, grateful just to have made it to where he was now. Other times he was cross and sullen, sulking and almost angry with himself as the stress of the new expectations weighed on him.

"If I'm here now, this is my chance," he explained to one of his childhood friends, who had come to visit him between matches at Beçonailles. "If I blow this, I'll never forgive myself."

That morning, when they had first met (their first time seeing each other in several years), Arthur had seemed happy and cheerful, excited for his match later in the day against TJUN-ia's Harold Crawley. But now, after a brunch downtown before a return to the courts, his mood had soured. His friend could tell he was feeling the pressure to perform, as someone who had suddenly become Reçueçn's favorite to win its grand slam at home, but Arthur didn't appear to have figured out where his emotions were coming from. Instead, he took it out on himself.

"I've been playing tennis for years, and in the NSTT ever since Reçuecian players first joined. People thought I was washed up then. I've finally started to prove myself--not enough, and far too late, but at least a little--but now if I lose this match I'll just be a laughingstock again. If I don't win this, maybe it's time to just quit the game."

His friend tried to comfort him, but Arthur's depression was shutting out any attempt at logic.

The match that afternoon, of course, was a loss in the end. Arthur started out well, fumbling in the first set but with an overall strong performance and maintaining control to win the second. But it all fell apart after that. His coach described it later in a news conference:

"Unfortunately, I think he got in his own head again. In my opinion, and with all due respect to Crawley, who's a great player in his own right, Arthur could have won that match. But he's not used to the pressure from his own fans. Typically at Beçonailles someone else is drawing the local focus--Fontana, or some other up-and-coming star--and Arthur can play his game without having to worry about how it looks. But now that he's in the limelight, the pressure is hard for him: not the external pressure, but the internal pressure, his own inner monologue. He's convinced himself that he's not good enough and that this is his only chance at something great, a chance that he was destined to throw away. And I think that became a self-fulfilling prophecy. We all saw the moment in the third set wen his attitude changed, and he stiffened up, and although I tried to talk to him after the set, you saw how awful that last set was--he was totally in his own head."

"I'm hoping we'll be able to take some time and regroup before the next swing, and hopefully when he feels a bit less pressure he can get back into his own game and we'll be working on that mental aspect of the game moving forward so that we're ready to win this, next time we come back."

The Reversal
After a spectacular first round, most Aqualias sent packing in Beçonailles
BEÇONAILLES, Rçn.—The unprecedented, near-universal early success of the eight Aqualian singles entrants and four doubles teams at the clay Grand Slam was bound to run out soon. However, many in Aqual were certainly hoping that it would persist at least a little longer than the second round. However, higher-ranked opponents and later rounds have already proven to be too much for a national delegation still getting back into the swing of things after yet another inexplicable hiatus from the international tour. A recap of the first and second round matches below.

Singles

Matéu Virxiliu (AQL) 6 7 7
Liam Penderyn (CEN) 4 6 6

Although the young Virxiliu won his opening round match in straight sets, it was by no means an easy win, with the first set decided only after fifty minutes and by a single break, and the last two sets forced to a tiebreak with his Cenian opponent. Ultimately, though, it was the Aqualia who prevailed, seemingly through sheer force of will at times, over Liam Penderyn, 6-4, 7-6(5), 7-6(6).

Georg Heraklit (1) (PUG) 6 6 6
Matéu Virxiliu (AQL) 2 4 3

However, as noted in our tournament preview, Virxiliu's early success would be short-lived, facing the top seed in the next round. Although the Aqualia made Heraklit work for the second set, he never truly garnered enough momentum to pose a real challenge, and was defeated relatively clinically in straight sets, 6-2, 6-4, 6-3.

Carles Puig (AQL) 6 7 4 7 6
Zuhayr Maroun (Q) (EBO) 7 6 6 5 4

It was guaranteed to be an exciting match for Carles Puig since it was, after all, his first-ever appearance in a Grand Slam tournament. However, not even he could have expected just how thrilling this match would be. The first two sets by themselves took more than two hours and went the distance to tiebreaks, which Puig and his qualifier opponent traded before trading breaks to begin the third set, which Maroun would narrowly carry 6-4. Puig was faced with two match points while receiving down 5-4 in the fourth set, but miraculously avoided being sent home with back-to-back winners before managing to equalize with a break and carry the set 7-5. Despite having the momentum going into the decider, his East Babylonian opponent refused to give him any breathing room until it was all over, with Puig advancing, 6(4)-7, 7-6(3), 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

Dorotea Granit (18) (PUG) 7 6 6
Carles Puig (AQL) 5 3 4

It was a bit of cruel irony which undid Carles Puig, however, as Virxiliu's defeat repeated itself as the Casolenyan player went down in straight sets to a seed from Gnejs. To his credit, he put up a valiant fight in all three sets, but lacked the necessary "killer instinct" and seasoned maturity on clutch points to perform when it mattered most. Puig's first Grand Slam tourney ended with this 7-5, 6-3, 6-4 defeat.

Martin Khalizniakov (BPE) 6 0 6 5
Lara Navarro (AQL) 7 6 4 7

Lara Navarro and Martin Khalizniakov seemed almost perfectly evenly matched to start this first round match, with neither seeming to give up an inch of ground to their opponent. Ultimately, however, it was the Beepee player who blinked first, losing the first set tiebreak 10-8. Buoyed by this momentum, Navarro stormed to a bagel set over Khalizniakov, who seemed dejected at having lost the first set after having fought so hard for it. However, the script flipped again in the third set, with Navarro being broken twice early; although she recovered one of them, it was not enough, and she dropped the set 6-4. The fiercely close competition of the opener returned in the final set, with Navarro eking out a victory to secure her spot in the second round.

Andrew Simmons (4) (ETM) 4 6 7 4 8
Lara Navarro (AQL) 6 4 5 6 6

There, she would soon encounter the recurring theme of the day: seeded opponents taking out the Aqualian lineup one by one. Unlike Virxiliu and Puig, however, Navarro actually took the first set and forced a decider, which she only narrowly lost after defending several match points. She should take much pride in her strong performance against this top-tier player, and great comfort in the fact that she is both younger and prettier than him regardless.

Gethin Syde (BPE) 5 2 2
Sílvia García (AQL) 7 6 6

Despite her quiet nature, Sílvia García was explosive in her first round, carrying the match in straight sets. She came back from an early double break disadvantage in the first set to go on an impressive 19-5 game streak to advance 7-5, 6-2, 6-2. When asked in her post-match interview about what changed in the first set for her to dominate the rest of the match, we received an inaudible, mumbled response very characteristic of her.

Lucas Parvash (ACS) 3 6 3 6
Sílvia García (AQL) 6 3 6 7

What was uncharacteristic, given the trends of this tournament, was the fact that an Aqualia advanced past the second round when García did so in four sets over Lucas Parvash of Acastanha. She seemed perfectly cool and collected on court throughout the entire match, totally emotionally disconnected from any perception of "winning," "losing" or "momentum" which oftentimes dictates the play of many tenistas (Virxiliu comes to mind immediately), instead being remarkably consistent in her 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6(3) victory to advance to the Round of 32, where she will seek to avenge Navarro's loss against Andrew Simmons. Or, more likely, she will play exactly as if it were any other opponent, unfazed by the drama and theatrics of the tennis world as always.

Garbiñe Flor (Q) (AQL) 3 5 7 6 4
Ivan Belosorochko (WSN) 6 7 6 1 6

Someone who loves tennis theatrics was caught up right in the midst of it after she captured Aqual's attention by advancing through both of her qualifying matches in singles and doubles before playing an epic five-setter in the opening round. However, she did not respond well to losing the spotlight so soon with her defeat, 6-3, 7-5, 6(2)-7, 1-6, 6-4.

Sandra Mae (DOT) 2 2 2
Paula Suárez (AQL) 6 6 6

Paula Suárez is often overlooked by Aqualian tennis fans and media alike, but she is always quick to prove herself again on the court as she did with this commanding victory over Sandra Mae, winning her opening round match in just over ninety minutes, 6-2, 6-2, 6-2.

Ricardo Toli (9) (BRI) 5 6 7 6
Paula Suárez (AQL) 7 2 6 3

If there were any doubters left to her merit as a tenista, she would prove them wrong again by carrying the first set in her match against ninth-seeded Ricardo Toli and putting up a strong effort throughout the rest of the match, which she ultimately lost but will no doubt grow much from.

Maddison Scott (22) (ETM) 1 6 4
Bartolo Sabanero (AQL) 6 7 6

If anyone was concerned about Sabanero's ability to replicate his successes of earlier seasons this year after having disappeared from the international tennis scene (again), he quickly corrected that erroneous train of thought with his dominant 6-1 first set victory over the twenty-two seed from Electrum, before backing it up by closing out the match 7-6(4), 6-4, to assuage the doubts that he was ill-prepared to return to the highest level of play in this tournament.

Bartolo Sabanero (AQL) 6 6 4 4 6
Goran Bogdanovich (BPE) 3 3 6 6 1

However, perhaps this boost of confidence fared poorly for Sabanero, as he seemed complacent after cruising to a 6-3, 6-3, two sets to none lead over Goran Bogdanovich, before dropping two consecutive sets himself. Despite the clear margin in the fifth set, this will hopefully serve as a reminder not to get too comfortable at any stage of a match or tournament. This advice will surely be useful in the next round, where he faces another seed in Dotivija's Dijana Jukić.

Carla Tormo (AQL) 6 6 6
Timaeus Andersson (PUG) 3 3 3

Akbar Farra (Q) (EBO) 3 3 3
Carla Tormo (AQL) 6 6 6

Presumably Carla Tormo is an avid reader of this publication and, upon seeing our prediction that she might focus on the doubles side of things in this tournament given her predisposition in favor of grass rather than clay surfaces, she immediately set out to prove us wrong. And we are glad she did, as she swept aside first Timaeus Andersson and then qualifier Akbar Farra without any delay or fanfare, duplicating identical 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 scorelines in both matches. We certainly hope she continues this almost machine-like precision with yet another 6-3, 6-3, 6-3 victory over third seed Ngurah Putrah Muliawan in the next round!

Although many Aqualias have already exited the tournament, those who remain are sure to provide much entertainment for tennis fans throughout the country, which you can keep up with on our website in real-time and in tomorrow's print edition of the Toboso Chronicle as always.

Atmaja Seen in Beçonailles

Beçonailles - It's the fifth days of Beçonailles. The single finished their Round 32 match while the double finished the Round 16. The result is 4 Pemecutanian players advancing to the next round where 2 of them are a pair in double competition. They are Ngurah Putra Muliawan, Indah Susanti and the pair Putu Listya Dewi/Putu Ayu Maherani. All of them are seeded players. The unfortunate however was the lost of Komang Antari/Kadek Andreawati from the Xal's sisters. Listya/Maherani on the other hand defeat another Cenian pair, Darlcheri/Rianor in straight set, 6-3, 7-6.

However, it's not just the win of Pemecutanian players that highlighted yesterday's match. But there is also another thing that steal the day. Surya Kusuma Atmaja, Pemecutanian amateur tennis player was seen amongs the crowd. He was seen watching the match of Ngurah Putra Muliawan against Carla Tormo of Aqual. The match was won by Muliawan in 3-sets of 6-3, 6-1 and 7-6. But what is his doing here?

It is a great experience to watch these great players in live. When I was a kid, I only can see them from television and now here I am. It's like a dream come true. The amateur tour in the last 3 years also makes it difficult for me to watch it live. Thank God I'm free this year. So yeah, this is a great experience. The atmosphere. The playmatch. Everything is surreal.

Surya Kusuma Atmaja

Atmaja is known in the past years as one of Pemecutanian best amateur players. He is selected as Pemecutan tennis Olympic team at the XVI Games of the Olympiad which will be held in Twin Cities and Prescott. He is replacing Ngurah Putra Muliawan who decided not to compete in the Olympic. Atmaja is one of the few amateur players that are included in the Pemecutanian squad.

Atmaja said that he was just arrive yesterday and feeling so excited to see the match. He also added that seeing the match is a great way to know how the professionals play. Seeing from TV and seeing live is very much different, he said. He said that he will be in the city until the final day.

…and the sun was a magical amalgamation of red and yellow as it slowly descended over the rooftops of beautiful Beçonailles when the little square between those rickety buildings started filling up with laughter and young people seeking joy and excitement in this city of love and adventure; this was a place to come to fall in love or to rekindle a love that one had thought forgone and lost in the eons, and while the wine was flowing and the girls had flowers in their hair a small group of people - two of them to be honest - stood fidgeting with lighting and recording equipment smack in the middle of that old courtyard that had serviced as a gathering place for generations, and as the young girl with the freckles kissed that boy with the crooked smile, and his friend kissed that other boy with the ginger beard, a familiar tune filled the square and everyone quickly turned to silence.

The man with the dreadlocks silently counted to three, and as the music died down he pointed at the other man, who proceeded to look into the camera and say

“Hey there dudes and dudettes, I’m beloved international tennis star extraordinaire, Georg Heraklit. You know what I like to do to get some motion to those loins after a few Reçuecian fivers? I cook awesome meals. That’s right. Today I’m here at the Carré d’amour perdu to cook you an orgasmic Chicken à la Georg, and if you’re not mouthwatering already, you will be soon enough.

You need a couple of chicken breasts, no matter the brand really, but if you’re anything like me you’ll pick something local and sustainable and not the kind of mass-produced drivel like those Valhall Chicken products, because you want that bird to have been alright and aligned when you dig in; it’ll taste better, trust me.

You don’t need much, it’s a simple recipe, but that’s the way the gods of old liked it, right? Crème fraîche is one, and a lot of it, at least three box loads of goodness, and then some mustard - the kind you’ll find here down in Beçonailles does the trick real nice, but whatever you do don’t go for standard shelf mustard your kids put on their hotdogs; keep that poison out - and an ample filling of soy sauce, coupled with a generous amount of garlic and Parmesan.

Mix the fraîche with the mustard and the soy sauce in a big bowl, getting that nice beige color, and then throw some minced garlic in there. Put your chicken breasts in an oven form and drizzle all that lovely mustard-soy-garlic induced fraîche all over, grab your Parmesan and grate a thick layer on top, like a cheesy crown of grated gold! Mmmmm, goddamn this is good stuff!! Pop it in the oven for a good 35-40 minutes and enjoy with a healthy serving of basmati. It’s totally fine to lick the fraîche bowl as you’re waiting; I always do. And that’s it guys, a simple, but godly delicious treat for lovers on a hot summer night. Now, come on boys and girls and gather around, me and Arne here pre-made enough for everyone! So just dig in and stay cool!”

As the Reçuecian sun set, there was much rejoicing.

Kush STUNS Rederer to qualify to his first ever Grand Slam Round of Sixteen, while Toli and Newkärn follow...

Slipping and sliding: Acharya wins against Olympic champion Rederer to secure a spot in the Beçonailles round of sixteen...

In an unexpected turn of events, for the first time ever, three Britonish players qualify to the Round of 16 at a Grand Slam tournament, with Acharya chasing down Olympic spot...

As reported yesterday, Acharya - of all the Britonish players - has the most to lose if he were to not qualify to the quarterfinals of the prestigious clay-court grand slam, Beçonailles. Acharya dreams to be a part of the Britonish delegation for the Olympic Games, but must try and either overtake Derek Dubrovnik or prove to the Britonish Olympic Committee that he has got what it takes to play on an Olympic level. However, his match for the Round of 32 was one most Britons and those that are close to Acharya especially was worried about as he would play Foger Rederer - the winner of the previous Olympic Games and seed 6 going into this competition. For Acharya, ranked outside of the Top 250, all the bookies wrote him off, suggested that Rederer would beat the Briton easily. For Acharya, it meant that inevitably, he would lose his fight to be on the Olympic delegation but he knew that if he could put up a fight, perhaps he could at least show the stern officials that he had what it takes to play on that field. The match started off in favour of Acharya, with the man swiftly beating his Adabian opponent, 6-2. We know that Rederer has a temper on him, and will not let things go easy, but the older Acharya is one of the most level-headed Britonish players on the tour. He knew that Rederer would unleash carnage on him, which he did in the second set, with Rederer winning an early break point and another to force Acharya to play catch up for the rest of the set. Acharya had to let go as Foger Rederer had three set points. It looked inevitable that the highly esteemed tennis player was coming back with a vengeance. Though, after a cute little sit down and a squirt of a protein syrup, Acharya knew that he had to be fearless in his approach with Rederer. The next two sets happened at the blink of an eye as Acharya's serves helped him win a lot of the points. While Acharya is average height on the men's tour - or probably a bit shorter as he's only six foot (and yes, we say only six foot!), he has a way of generating a lot of power on his serve making him sometimes very invincible but we have not been able to see him with his full prowess yet - he hasn't been pushed, he didn't need to have the drive. Though, the Beçonailles audience backed the underdog as opposed to the loud-mouthed and sometimes brute Rederer, it spurred Acharya to move on in the game, playing on Rederer's weaknesses. Before you know it, it was game, set and match - the Briton made it through. He would now expect a really bad press conference coming out of Rederer but he's been allegedly heard to say that he doesn't care and won't be tuning in.

]Nations left in the draw:
BRI (3) [9] Toli, Acharya, Newkärn
PUG (2) [1] Heraklit, [18] Granit
PCU (2) [3] Muliawan, [30] Susanti
ETM (2) [7] Riley, [21] Ho
DOT (1) [15] Jukić
ADB (1) [17] Romanescu
AQL (1) García
ILD (1) Dawn
RCN (1) [31] Le Floch
TJU (1) Pollock
WSN (1) Ushakov

Elsewhere, Ricardo Toli knocked out van de Kloor of TJUN-ia in four sets, after losing the third due to a tiebreak. Ricardo looked fine on the court and definitely had most of the match, especially the final set under control. While he did slip up in the tiebreak during the third, he was able to quickly recover to scupper any chances for van de Kloor to crawl his way back into the match. Toli is now set to play Ushakov of Waisnor. Newkärn also made it to his second Round of 16 in a grand slam in a year after beating Favreau of Electrum in four sets, after losing the first set after a tiebreak. Newkärn has a challenge on his hands tomorrow as he plays 3rd seed Ngurah Putra Muliawan from Pemecutan who beat their opponent in straight sets. Though, one must live in the moment. For the first time ever, three Britons have qualified to the round of 16, meaning there are currently more Britonish players left in the draw than any other nation. While that could all change tomorrow, this definitely shows the strengths of the new format that Britonish Tennis has put in place since season 7, showing that it is very much working.

In the doubles, Jaguar Zenteanite/Zeke Newham made it to the Round of 16, but there are not due to play tomorrow due to an off-day. They are set to play the amazing Xal sisters from Ceni for a match that is expected to be tantalising.

Britonish matchings of Beçonailles will be shown on BITC 1 with full coverage of the Grand Slam on BITC 2 and BITC Sport...

The women's singles qualifiers for the Olympic Games will be spoken about at the next cut-off as I've been travelling today.
