Filindostan 4-4 Cassadaigua: Three takeaways from the pivotal Group 14 match
SAN MARCO - Ethel Toh will be the happier of the two managers from the 4-4 draw between her side and Stephanie Sweeney's Cassadaigua side, having failed to take any points against the two-time champions of the multiverse in the past two meetings between the teams. The result left both teams deadlock at the top of Group 14 on points, though Sweeney's Fillies have a better goal difference against the Pula Garudas.
Let's look back and see what FSNA Berita Filindo can take away from the scintillating match that had happened last night.
Toh shows us why she doesn't need the players she axed... at the moment
The Filindostani squad who faced the Fillies at the Filindostan National Stadium was a very different one from the one who lost to the same team at Concord Heights Stadium. Only the three substitutes from the Matchday Four squad played in the match, with Sutikno, Mordecai, and Ina all getting their caps for the reverse fixture in Filindostan.Abram (6.5)
Graci (7.5) -- Braham (5.5) -- Buknoy (6) -- Dwi (7)
Sutikno (7)
Shiloh (7.5) -- Mordecai (6.5) -- Ryan (6.5)
Bienvenido (6) -- Ina (9)
Subs used: Deddy Lie (7) for Sutikno (64')
Seto (5) for Bienvenido (71')
Kadek (-) for Braham (87')
Aside from Ryan who filled in for Bilhah, and Sutikno, for Deddy Lie, the lineup is what is deemed as Ethel's ideal lineup. At the moment, the squad at the disposal has been working wonders for her, despite the notable absences of the Weici twins, Yish, and the Empress of Defence. But everything has a honeymoon period which we know does not last forever, and we should see the aforementioned players be back in the setup, whether Toh keeps her job permanently, or another manager take her reins at the end of the qualifying campaign.
The decision rests solely on Toh's shoulders, and should she relinquish it to say, his assistant Xavier Rinoso, the players she froze out of the setup might find their way back to the lineup soon. But while the FFF board member is there, the status quo would remain.
We also had a 'wonderkid' in our ranks: Ina
The conversation at Group 14's media outlets regarding the next generation of the multiverse's best players point to two people - Starblaydia's Sutter McCloud, and Cassadaigua's Rachel Schanke, the latter scoring Cassadaigua's two goals which allowed them back to the game after being two goals down at the 70th minute. But Ina's contribution in the match, being involved in the buildup of all the Filindostani goals, should also give the Perokojak forward a say in that conversation as well, though she'll turn 24 next year*, when the World Cup finals and the Cup of Harmony kicks off.
Starting in the Filindostan's Under-18 and Under-21 teams, it was a matter of time before Ina broke out of the international scene, after the Jakulta club signed her from UTP-J to pair up with another of their youngsters in Bienvenido, and the partnership was translated as well to the national team after Toh froze out the usual starters and some of her competition for the substitutes in the match. And when the opportunity was provided to her, she duly took advantage, particularly at the Sherpa Empire match where she scored all the goals in their 4-2 win which inched them closer to a top 2 spot back then.
Should her development continue past the qualifiers, she will be a regular fixture in the Pula Garuda lineup even if the other players do return.
Filindostan should be relentless in their last five matches of the campaign
It was an entertaining match at the Gelora Nasional Pilindostan**, in which Filindostan opened the scoring with Ina Teterissa scoring the opening goal at the fifth minute. Good passing between Sutikno Suparmanputra and Mordecai Sitindaon culminated to a better lob to a running forward who then lobbed the ball past Kristen Speller to give the Filindos the lead, which did not last long. Six minutes later, the match was dead level again, with Caitlyn Mayer scoring for the Fillies, taking advantage of a miscommunication between Braham Luiz and Buknoy Salcedo, scoring with a volley at the near post which flew into the top corner, giving Abram Jampang no chance. Sweeney's team eventually took the lead just after twelve minutes, as Braham brought down Mayer outside the box, and the ensuing free kick sequence led to Hannah Ranucci giving the lead to the Rushmori nation. They though, did not have the lead coming to the halftime break, as Filindostan scored two quickfire goals in the 31st and 39th minute, with Ina scoring her second, a flick which rolled past Speller, and providing her strike partner a share of the goals as well as he received a square ball from her to make a well-placed shot to give back the lead to the Esportivans.
The Baptism of Fire 66 winners extended the lead 25 minutes after the halftime break, as a counter-attack ensued catching the Fillies off-guard, and Ina putting a great through ball to Mordecai to score again past the Cassadagan keeper once again. It was this time when Sweeney brought on the young Schanke to replace Mayer, and within two minutes of her in the pitch, she was able to get one goal back for the World Cup 50 and 51 champions. It was a perfect link up play between her and the experienced Ranucci, with a shot enough to sway the ball away from Abram. She didn't have to wait long to double her tally, as she completed an unassisted run to score impressively past a helpless keeper from Venividicci, and level the match again, 4-4. Both teams tried to get a late winner through Ina and Schanke, but the spoils had to be shared between the two leading teams in Group 14.
Filindostan have to remain relentless in front of the net, if they want to keep their four point lead towards an automatic qualification spot, and will face Abristan in a tricky away match. Any slipups from this point on will have big implications in the Group 14 table, with the five-time World Cup champions ready to pounce.

Now is the summer to show forth content
And win glory beneath the sun of fate.
For all the clouds that o'er the mountains loomed
Have cast down snow, and wait to send the rain.
Now do we quest to wave victorious flags,
Our arms unused (except for a few kooks),
Our stern feet race to every merry stadium,
Our dreadful anthem stirs delighted fans.
Bitter defeat has masked her ancient face
And now, instead of catching local trains
To pierce our souls, as do our adversaries,
She brightly flirts with other slumping squads
To the droning of their fans' boos and jeers.
So I, who am a fan of sporting tricks
And look to receive every drifting pass;
I, who am often capped, and in my element
Strutting upon an endless verdant field,
I, who have drawn up fair formations,
Accused of cheating by dissembling opponents,
By biased refs sent off before my time
Into the tunnel ere the second half
I, wearing kits so unfashionable
Designers shield their eyes as I walk by:
Thus, I, in these clutch days of qualifiers
Have no delight for losses or of draws
Unless to draw my lovely silhouette
Under the bright sun of the field of play.
Whe need have I for flirting or for lovers?
I entertain these loyal, well-read fans;
I am avowed to prove a champion
And spurn the simple fancies that distract.
Goals shall I score, assists enumerate
By runs inspired, home, away, in dreams.
And so my tireless captain and the coach
Shall egos stroke, the one against the other.
And if our coach be as quiet and meek
As I am brazen, loud, and loquacious,
Our captain's clipboard shall be full of doodles
That lead us on to hoist the "W,"
Of all the teams, we champions shall be.
Sit, thoughts, within my soul--the captain speaks.
