WELCOME TO THE BRITONISH OPEN III

This time, we will be going to Doportedas and their city's main tennis centre in the town of Barlinedon - Central Doportedas. The Barlinedon Courts are grass courts, but were temporarily made to be clay courts for the last time this event was held. The qualification process has changed since it was announced on the RP Thread of the Hamilton V. Instead of the bottom 24 in the qualification, the bottom 32 will go to the qualification instead.

The bottom 32 will play a single match. From that, we should get 16 players left. The 16 players that are left will then join the already qualified top 16 for the Round of 32. This has been changed to make the competition more fluid and less complicated. Below, you can find those yet to qualify, and who they will play...

How will I know who my players will play next? When the results are posted, you will notice that I decided to put the tennis players in to two sections. Those sections are what the tennis players will stay in until they are knocked out/reach the final. Furthermore, I will add at the bottom of the posts the next day's matches so you know exactly who you are playing next.

EXTRA BONUSES
Want to receive more than the maximum?

Extra bonus points will be awarded to those who decide to integrate extra RP that I add to the tournament. This will be added to the cumulative total, and are worth a good amount - especially useful for those who are starting out. You do not have to add these in the RP, but it can give more context to what you decide to do for a RP (I'll try to make them as directed to the RP as possible). These extra RPs will be placed at the top of each results posts and will look similar to this example below;

Doportedas Today:
Weather Report:
> 19C / 66 F (average)
> Sunny with drizzles throughout the day, forecast for rain over the next two days.
News in Barlinedon Today:
> Leaking drain near Barlinedon causes roads near tennis club to close.
> Traffic in Barlinedon causes Britonish Open Officials at the Tennis Club to warn players to come in early.
> Bike protests scheduled to happen tomorrow.

They're really easy bonuses to get - so make the most of the opportunity! Also, I will add the times and courts your players played on...

Postby Ferret Civilization » Sat Apr 14, 2018 7:45 am

With the wildly successful clay season part of the year now over the Ferret team now had some break time to look back over how they had done compared to the last time when they were just starting out in the tennis world. This time around there was only six tournaments from Costa De Ouro to Electrum instead of the double digits those years past had, but the team was able to do a lot more with the less they had to work with. From Dagmar taking the Albergaria Open, to Ástríður taking the Antillia Masters from Birger, the thorough fail in the Mattijana Open, coming back to have Ceallachán take the Istria Open from Alwyn with Ástríður rounding out third, Birger and Hermanni still holding second place on the doubles side. Going into the Terranean Slam would see Llinos win with Hermanni and Birger finally getting their win on the doubles side, rounding it all out with the Hamilton International V that would see Dagmar win again making for rather the perfect bookends. All this in a short frame of time would see them going from the forgot high seventies ranking to having Dagmar in seventh with the rest of the team managing to get up into the top thirties and on the doubles side see Hermanni and Birger take fifth with the rest of the team also in the top thirties there as well. The sudden comeback and doing better than ever was largely unexpected even for the Ferret team, though now that it happened it seemed like nothing would ever get better than that. Now all there there was to do was look forward to the Britonish Open III that would finally see the Ferrets playing on something other than clay, which besides the Cenian Open one offs that was all the team had come to know, the grass courts this upcoming event promised would be a first for them all. Hopefully bringing with it a whole new set of experiences and they would see how they would fair there giving a preview of how they would do off the clay again. Looking at all this Euan decided that it would be a fun little thing to do to act on behalf of the media to collect the team’s thoughts on anything somewhat like what other nations do with their players, sitting in the same quiet bar as before he broached the idea to everyone else.

“You are kidding right? What are we even going to say, everyone already knows how we are doing officially and all that good stuff, what more is there to bring up?” Alwyn started first.

“Well officially everyone else does know how overall we are doing, and your names, but that is about it. Does not read all that well on paper for those that can not watch television. Could talk about what got you all here, about what you think of any of the tennis world or something, whatever feels comfortable.”

“Other nation’s tennis programs sounds like a fun one to talk about,” Birger decided to pipe in after Euan’s semi-explanation, “So we get to go around and see what all the other well established countries have to offer, most of us here read and watch their news when we visit and go travel around exploring what they offer tourist. Seems like most places have a rich history and same could be said about their involvement in the tennis events. With courts and other players coming from a history of success or struggles, something that just says that they have been around for awhile. It can show up in their success on the courts and when the country hosts an event it all shows bright and loud for all those that show up to see. What do we have here in our homeland? Nothing. Pretty bad sounding, but that is the case, best thing we have for a court is an empty dirt lot out in the farmland and nothing official. I know for sure none of us came from a sporting background with the lottery system bringing us all together just to see how things would go for an experiment that somehow managed to do well. Does not make for much of a tale to tell others now does it, like, oh we all just came together and managed to get lucky, is the nation going to do any more about it, no. Wow. But that is just how things are, does not and has not stopped any of us from managing to go out there and win. That pretty much cover things?”

Birger looked around at everyone else who pretty much nodded in agreement to that, “Fair enough, mentioned the lottery system, probably going to confuse anyone outside our home with what that was that brought us all together though I can just fill that in. The rest of you want to say where you came from before getting into this tennis thing? I will start with saying that I was a librarian for the main university before getting lucky to keep track of you all. And yes I know we all know where we came from, this is just for the record, who is going to go next?” Euan looked around, specifically at Alwyn.

“Alright everyone knows I am the youngest here, just a student at the university before getting my lucky break to see the rest of the universe out there. Nothing exciting, though I doubt any of us really had exciting lives before getting to do this for a living.”

Everyone else went around stating their job that they had before trying to get into tennis, Dagmar was a trash collector providing a power source outside the coal plant for the incinerator. Ceallachán was a simple train operator whereas Ástríður worked out on the farms. Säde was probably the most interesting case of being the bar owner of the bar that they were in, as well as a self taught piano player with Hermanni making a living with Birger by playing music there. It was the most interesting case out of them all since they were brought together before being brought together by the tennis experiment. Rounding things out was Llinos being a retail employee before getting into this at the time they were starting off thrown together group. Made for quite the tale actually when it came to how well they were able to do with nearly zero experience on the courts compared to some who had a lifetime on them.

“Do any of you think that Ferret Productions should double down now that you have done so well against all odds and actually create a more permanent domestic tennis foundation?”

“Given the current political climate, no, not really. We have and will do just fine without having to go all out with things, especially since at any moment things could just be cut again. Given regulations and standards that any place that is made, it could just end up being a lot of wasted space, even if it was made it would still kind of be wasted space since there would be no way for our home to host an international event. To me it would just seem like a big waste with nothing to look up to.” Ástríður answered that question, “Perhaps when we are all Human we can afford to do such a thing. For now a dirt lot is all we need when not using the well established courts with all their history in other nations.”

Euan nodded, “Would you like to further elaborate on the regulations and standards thing?”

“Well the size thing should be the most obvious to everyone, tallest one of us here is barely three feet, the lowest part of a tennis court net is suppose to be three feet and taller near the end points. Let alone the length and width of the court that would leave a large footprint space, larger than any urban area has to give and be weird out in the middle of nowhere farmland. Of course they could just make it smaller but then it would probably only hamper getting ready to go play on Human size courts.”

“Yeah not to mention being able to swing a racket that is about two thirds your height when running across that court.” Alwyn interjected, getting a laugh out of everyone. “Will never get used to having to deal with that, or any of the foreign stuff in general. Everything is just so much bigger and hard to deal with when you are not used to it.”

“Though that does come with it being a rather Human dominated game, unlike other competitions like the World Cup that see hundreds of nations that provide a lot of different species playing together on a field. Tennis compared to that is really unknown, it kind of helps when it comes to wanting to win and get further but it probably does not get that same rewarding feeling others get.” Dagmar piped up from here, “But going back to the whole size difference, that alone is a major hurdle to get over. Most of us here are half the height of our Human competitors facing off on their courts using their sized rackets can be hard enough. Then on top of that it seems like all the major tennis nations have their courts in burning hot climates, which I guess for them works but when one is covered in a layer of brown fur it is rather unpleasant. Then one has to wear a layer of clothes on top of that which does not help anything, though the beaches always help with that after the games are over. Along with air conditioning. Ceallachán is probably the lucky one in this regard being white furred whereas the rest of us got heat absorbing brown fur.”

“Has not helped him on the court much though.” Alwyn snickered, Ceallachán just swiped at him. “Has not hindered me either, or really any of us. At the end of the day we were still able to win and lose just like anyone else. And we will still continue to do our best despite the odds along with having fun in other nations with other people.”

“Alright that seems like enough to go with officially with on paper.” Euan wrapped that up.

“Really, hardly seems like we said anything new worth writing down.” Alwyn said right after that, “Yeah, but it will be a media report that goes out to other nations that want it, much like Electrum did with that sponsorship thing. I will be sure to add more to it and fill it out. Look forward to seeing how you all fair in Britonisea.”

After doing extremely well at the last Summer Games where West Phoenicia did extremely well with

Kamal Dallas picking up gold in the men's singles, Kamal Dallas/ Wissam Dallas picking up Bronze in the mens doubles and Tiffany Love/ Staci Harris scoring a bronze in the Women’s Doubles there was so hope that the West Phoenician team could make some ground with the world open tennis tournaments.
So far that has not come to bear fruit. And the West Phoenician Tennis Federation is hoping things can start to change for Team West Phoenicia at the current Britonish Open Tournament.

The six veterans are all looking to make their mark on the courts rather than off them. Social media is ablaze with what new scandal this team can bring. Where fans follow their favorite tennis player not because of their on court skills but their off court antics.
With threats from the West Phoenician Tennis Federation to replace anyone who causes undue drama not taken seriously as there have been drama at every game a West Phoenician has attended with barely a slap on the wrist by the federation. All eyes are on the newer players of Kamal Dallas, Tiffany Love and Katherine Richardson to raise the bar and to start increasing the West Phoenician portfolio in the tennis world.

Currently the following players will all be seen on the courts in Britonish Open.

BRITONISH OPEN III SINGLES TOURNAMENT
1.Jon Swanston
2. Con Towers
3.Renee Richardson
4. Fi Richardson
5. Toan Wu Nguyen

Psychotic Dictatorship

Postby Main Nation Ministry » Sun Apr 15, 2018 10:52 am

Inside an indoor squash court in one of Main Nation Ministry's fitness clubs, one particular squash court has gotten several armed soldiers guarding it with assault rifles. Inside, two tennis players were swinging their rackets as the tennis ball hit the wall in front of them. We got General Emmanuel Jones, former lieutenant who needs some peace after running an ops mission on sabotaging a puppet government political candidate. And the other individual is Ray Wilkerson, former football player after the previous general straight up start murdering family members of football players to check them in line. This proved to not work at all, due to the Leader getting info on this and sentencing the previous general to death for treason. Now Ray Wilkerson has made another sport comeback from playing cricket, though he is starting on playing tennis, mainly due to the latest propaganda film featuring him bombing in the box office.

The general gestured from a soldier to come in to give news on the weather at the host nation Britonisea. "Ahem." the soldier fumbled a bit opening a report on the weather. "Weather conditions currently today at Barlinedon are at average temperature. It will rain for two days, so recommendation to bring umbrellas or jackets. We are told to come early, due to traffic." the soldier said to the two. "Well, I have enough time to do the meet and greet at the Snakefish Zoo in Victory Square. Hey, General, sir? Do you think I'm qualified for boxing?" Ray asks the general, where he lets the tennis ball pass him. "I say, wait a couple months. The Ministry of Sports tend to have the beefed up ones." The General said, walking over to the bench, getting a swig of a sports drink.

"We leave for Britonisea tomorrow. We have security escort us to the Tennis Club, where we make sure we leave good impressions to others. Is that clear?" The general asked Ray.
"Sir, yes, sir!"

My overall account that I use for P2TM and even for international roleplaying! Making their debut in a non-domestic competition, the Competitive Solitaire players are seen day in, day out on the courts preparing for qualification day. A promising prospect is Tim Großel, the number one player in Competitive Solitaire for four years straight. He'll be hoping to bring his magic with him to the foreign grass. Another player to watch is his doubles partner Stefan Mandel, whose volleying skills are the most dominant in the nation.

Of course, with no guarantee that any of the CSL singles players will qualify, all of them will be hoping to bring out their A game in their matchups. Tim Großel and the lads will all be looking to establish themselves as excellent competition in such a competitive tournament. Here's what the Competitive Solitaire matchups look like on qualification day.
Đuro Petrović vs. Tony Tuk (A)
Erwin Sieger vs. Feyrord Poniac (B)
Hildebert Gotti vs. Paula Blomqvist (D)
Martin Heinrichs vs. Renee Richardson (G)
Rolf Schuhmacher vs. Lukas Nunhead (J)
Tim Großel vs. Con Towers (K)

And in other news on the CSL side in the Britonish Open III...
In an attempt to beat the heavy traffic, the players will be leaving for the courts earlier than expected. They'll also be bringing jackets and umbrellas with them to keep themselves warm and to protect themselves from the rain.

Having travelled all the way to Britonisea for the first time to see what Doportedas had to offer and see how they handled grass courts for the first time as well with the Britonish Open. They were lucky that none of them had to take part in the qualifiers so giving them more time to unpack and enjoy whatever waterfront this place hopefully had to beat the what was always hot weather to them. Though before they could do much Euan was sure to hand the group the newspaper that their media had produced.

Ferret Civilization Sports

Less than three Sol years ago our nation stepped out onto the great stage of international affairs by first going through the World Assembly. It would start a journey that would take us out on a number of experiments from getting plucked up into the stars of the galaxy and taking part of economic and academic trade. Through all this the council that makes up our government along with the collection of businesses got together to create Ferret Productions to help further testing the outside world’s waters to see if there would be any place niche on the stage we could find ourselves in. During all that time most of us alive for this generation probably experienced the most new and wild stuff everything out there had to offer since the times of legend and myth that brought us all together in our colony from the unknown. Of course, the times they are still changing and anyone on the street can give one a wide range of opinions on the current state of affairs, but one thing is clear, we are slowly withdrawing from the great experiments that brought us out onto the international stage. Making this now the best time to look back on it all and ask, was it worth it? Depends on who is asked, international relations are seen as a mixed bag and Ferret Productions is looking to be a worsening state as the days go by. Why does all this matter? Because nearly three Sol years ago one of the mixed experiments funded by the business group was to explore the world of international sports, a thing that looking back upon was a hard task to do with a very poorly defined goal.

So, looking back all that time ago what exactly was happening to get us out onto the stage the way we tried to go. Well the first step to that began at the World Assembly, the first step from total isolation to trying not to be rather unsuccessfully depending on who one asks. This would however lead to discovering more to the universe that we call our home, finding more nations to interact with and learning about whole new ideas about the existence of our lives. It would eventually add up to having the economic and industrial backbone of this nation collecting themselves together to open new frontiers on the international stage, also with mixed success. That along with the new ideas would lead to the foundation of trying to get involved in the international sporting scene, which is where we come into the picture. From baseball, lacrosse, football, to field hockey the sports program tried to do a lot of things at once to see if anything would stick using individuals that had little to no training or experience with these foreign sports. The greatest success we would have would come from the Games of the X Olympiad, where Ainsley, a simple farmer would manage to not just do well but go onto take the gold medal in female tennis. With this the program, still young and starting out clung to this and decided to double down on it, seeing a moderate expansion to the interest in the sport of tennis. It should be noted here that this was never supposed to be the end result of a success, the experiment was vague in a way of only wanting to see how individuals did and exposure, not wanting to go for wins and all that in this crowded market. But the vague goals got shifted around and suddenly there was a need to win at something, not just in the sporting world but in all fields there was a need to find a niche out there that our nation and people could thrive in, which as we all know now would come to backfire and not work out. Whether or not the nation got the exposure it was looking for could still be debatable but otherwise overall there was more to be desired.

Though this was the heyday, with everything just starting out and having that new appeal to it, leading to a slight expansion to the lottery system that made the teams we have now. This system was used to select all those that wanted to be apart of the grand experiment the nation was undertaking without favoring one unskilled individual over another. With that it saw individuals from all lots of life brought together, from farmers like Ainsley and Ástríður to miners like Mark and Pryce. Of course there is the lucky case of an entire bar staff being selected; Säde, Birger, and Hermanni being the three there from the same background. Alwyn being the youngest of the group and a student making this sports thing his first real job outside the mandatory military service. With the star Dagmar being a trash collector before getting a claim to fame in the tennis world. All different sorts and experiences coming together in this group, that is not even getting to the other bigger groups brought together for the other failed sporting outings. This team here has managed to come together to get the most success out of everything the nation and Ferret Productions has tried to do, currently the group is doing better than ever but this was not always the case, nor will it be the case in the future. After success in the Olympic games the program moved onto the more professional and established world of the NationStates Tennis Tour starting out the year with the Astyrian Series of 2016. This would see further success in Dagmar and continue the push to develop the sport domestically beyond the lottery system if the nation wanted to see better development with their players on the courts. It would not come to be however has interests were all over the place and the current system in place stayed as it was after the team began to not do perfect, which should have never been the idea in the first place. Though after all this time of gathering dust and all the other experiments coming to a close Ferret Productions decided to give the sports program one last breath for the tour year to give the team a goodbye to things.

However in this goodbye the team has managed to do just as well as they did starting out all those Sol years ago despite the heavy competition, and giving a second look to just how those experiments really did turn out. With the success on the courts being the last call to not have the nation shut down everything and hold onto some of the ideas the outside world has given to us. This has not been an easy task of course, with players like Dagmar and Ástríður along with Birger and Hermanni having to work extra hard with less supplies and support to overcome the largely Human dominated sport on their fields and terms. Not many that have never been outside the homeland can come to really appreciate this fact, as the rest of the galaxy in general is a very large place with larger everything abound, and that extends to most other species as well, not just the majority of Humans. Though that can and probably has lead to weird situations when it comes to dealing with us Ferrets as well, to put things in perspective we are generally high two to low three feet tall by their measurement, and most everyone else is double that at high five to six feet tall. It can put a hamper on daily life when out in about in that kind of world, yet those that are in the sporting field have managed to make due with the large equipment and settings to not just do average but in most cases now succeed and win. And with this comes the old question, should the nation develop a domestic tennis foundation with the current state of affairs seeing us slowly go back to the total isolationism that we were used to all that time ago. As the lottery system and no dedicated infrastructure show that the nation has no long term plans to continue handling foreign sports, but at the same time wanting to do just that, especially now with the renewed success on the tennis courts. While the rest of the nation may go back and forth on the points each side has what does the team that is doing so well have to think on this matter? With all their success and failure they mostly agree that the program should eventually come to its end with the rest of the experiment over and done for, with no need to put more resources into an already completed task and the addition hardships that it would bring. Figuring with all the challenges that they had to overcome to get a shot at what they got to experience this would make for the most perfect way for things to wrap up and watch the metaphorical sun set on all that everyone got to do.

“Huh… Was not exactly what I was expecting.” Alwyn summed up the general feeling. “Does not seem to do the whole situation much justice.”

“Swing and a miss then.” Euan sighed, “Oh well. Anyway you all know the routine.” And with that the team got to setting up for another competition and getting to enjoy themselves before going to watch the qualifying matches to see who they would be playing on the singles side.
Currently traveling across the United States. Still up for any conversations though.

Postby Ferret Civilization » Wed Apr 18, 2018 11:55 pm

After an exciting day of watching the qualifying round of the event that the team was lucky enough to not have to take part in, they had time to settle into their place of stay for the next two days. First order of major business would be to see what it would be like to play on the grass, as they were only used to pretty much the clay. With the temperatures not being burning hot and some possible rain to make things actually kind of nice the first free day they all had was to go to practice playing tennis in the new environment. The walk through the city seemed like any other, just as busy as most places which was nothing to complain about as the place had all the touristy amenities to make up for that. Something that most of them would be sure to check out later, any water front would be sure to top the list of first to see spots. Alwyn was the first out onto the still damp grass of the tennis court after the team set themselves up for the time being.

“Wow, this would be awesome if we did not have to have footwear.” He was the first to comment as he tested running and sliding against the wet surface.

“Yeah you know that no one would allow that against regulations just to make a mess of yourself.” Ceallachán replied tossing Alwyn the tennis ball.

The two of them were first up to practice against each other, and first to learn that grass would seriously hamper them worse than the Cenian hard surface court did. The grass pretty much took away their non-existent serves and made going for the ball a lot harder, as clay was pretty fast for them alone. It seemed like they would be getting a lot more exercise here trying to get back and forth across and around the courts. Though practice went on throughout the intermediate sprinkles to help try to prepare everyone to get thoroughly stomped in the start of the official event. Eventually getting to a good place to extrapolate how much harder everything was going to be playing in matches against their competition. They would probably have to be relying on their first time beginners luck in this event. Though after a fun day of doing practice the team still had plenty of time to go see what the place had for nightlife before getting ready for yet another break day. It would come with plenty more relaxation to get ready for the big day where they all would play.

Then the big day finally came, with a strict schedule the Ferret team made sure to get up plenty early to enjoy a nice breakfast before getting out just as early to make it to the courts. First up would be the doubles side, with Dagmar and Ástríður being one of the first up for the start of it all. Facing off against Kamal and Tiffany the rest of the team was eager to watch along with everyone else there to see just how they would be faring in the new setting. It started out on bumpy, with the two Ferrets getting used to having to move on the grass surface to the point of almost being embarrassingly funny. But when the two of them did manage to succeed in making a serve, kind of rare, to getting the ball back across the net, it worked out rather well for them. So well that the two of them were able to take the first set of the match before going onto lose the next one. Once in the third set however the two were able to keep things up longer, as the grass was not as hard to get around repeatedly without having to wear oneself out, and that worked for them. Keeping a small lead and able to take the first match of the day for the team themselves.

It would get a little hard then after watching some other pairs play in their matches, as once noon came the rest of them all had to play at the same time. It would be a bummer to not have the team support on the sidelines during each of their games but Dagmar, Ástríður, and Euan would do their best to try and be at them all. With three pairs playing and three individuals off the courts they decided that at least one of them would be watching each match. Starting with their best pair Birger and Hermanni facing off against Con and Staci the two Ferrets continued to manage to thrive in the new setting without much of a setback. Taking the first set with a nice lead with Dagmar on the side cheering them on in the crowd of everyone else. Meanwhile Alwyn and Ceallachán were somehow able to work together to do even better than their best duo to overcome Neven and Zdenko for a chance to play Ástríður and Dagmar in the round of sixteen. While the males on the team were having a surprisingly easy time getting through their first sets Säde and Llinos would be the ones that had to work through a lot of games to get an edge on their competition Golden and Rick. Though in the end each and everyone of them was able to win the first set of their matches despite the challenges. The three pairs that were playing were then all able to repeat the feat and win the second set to take the matches without a single loss so far.

Once they were all able to meet back up again Hermanni was the first to ask how the others did, Alwyn bragged about how he did the best out of all the others. With only Ástríður able to put him in his place pointing out that Ceallachán did most the work in their match. The great news so far was that they had all made it through on the one side of the event they did more poorly in, and that Dagmar and Ástríður would be playing against Alwyn and Ceallachán meaning at least one of their duos would be getting through further into the event. The other four on the team would have to being playing against Qads on the court. But for now the team still had the singles side to look forward to and a little bit of a break in between them to get some rest and maybe some food. Though once out of watching the last doubles match it seemed that they would have to skip out on the food with the large crowds pretty much everywhere waiting on their own food.

So all that was left to do was wait for Dagmar and Birger to have to be up at the same time, once again splitting the team to see how both of them did in the same time slot. With a little bit of a competition between them to see who would do better in their own match. With Birger once again playing against Con and Dagmar playing against Toan from the same nation it was time for things to begin. Birger had a slightly easier time against the opponent he had already played before, able to take the lead right from the start and hold it and his own on the grass. Still showing off that he had some skill hidden under all that luck now. Dagmar would not be in the same showboating position at the start of her match however, with the lead she had slowly giving way at the middle of the set unable to do the serve thing well. Though she was sure not to let that get her down, returning with a fire to take almost every game of the second set for herself. Meanwhile Birger was able to keep the rhythm he had to win his match in the second set, and was able to go join the others in watching Dagmar finish up her third set which was dragging on as badly as the first. But in that third set this time she was the one getting the lead to win the match, starting the team off on the singles side as well as they did on the doubles side. From here everyone would be able to watch the rest of their teammates matches as they were all spaced out by the hour until their last match.

Ceallachán was up again Briton Elizabeth, who would have the home field advantage throwing more of a challenge for the Ferret to overcome. If he was able to win he would get to play against Birger, securing their place on the singles side for one of their own to get through the round of sixteen just like on the doubles side. The rather unlucky Ferret was able to somehow take an early lead into the first set and hold onto it, with motivational support from his team to match the support all the Britons were giving his opponent. It made for quite the show all in all, going into the second set was a little tougher than the first, with each side really wanting to win, Ceallachán would be the one to come out on top again to take the match in two sets. Ástríður would be the next one up against Jenny, and the Ferret really made sure to take the cake for just how well the team was doing on the grass courts despite never playing on them before. Outdoing Dagmar by taking every single game of the first set really set off the team for such an achievement. Though things would not stay so bright for her in the second set where her competition sought to turn things around, and nearly succeeding at doing it. But in the end the Ferret was able to hold the lead to win the match keeping up what was looking to be a perfect day.

Alwyn was up again on court three, where Ceallachán played his singles match and they together played their doubles match. Going up against Renee he would not have an easy start, losing the little lead he had forcing him to pick things up in the second set to hopefully drag the match out. Something that he was surprisingly able to do well at, taking most the second set and was able to redo it even better in the third set. Quickening what was setup to probably be a long match. Leaving Llinos to finish up either being their one loss or the one to make it a perfect day for the team on the courts. And not wanting to be the one to go out like last event she managed to pull through against Bette. Taking the first set out so long that a tie breaking point was needed to settle the score, which Llinos was able to take for herself before the two of them repeated the same process in the second set. While it was not as bad to need another tie breaker game the set still dragged out, with the Ferret able to once again pull through in the end to take the match. Making for a perfect day which was a major shock.

Looking at tomorrow saw them playing mostly against Qads with some Britons and Cenians, along with each other, it would make for quite the day to see how they would do against the more established names on this kind of court. But they still had the ones of themselves that were guaranteed to get through no matter how poorly they did, so there was that to look forward to. After watching the rest of the matches all that was left to do was head back to their place of temporary residence and celebrate their great beginner's luck and try to get rid of their sticky feeling with the miracle of modern air conditioning.
Currently traveling across the United States. Still up for any conversations though.

"The Britonish Open is going according to plan" says the organisers behind this wonderful event. Though, the same cannot be said for each of the Britons playing in the tournament. What was revealed only last tournament was that the Britonish were fighting with one another to try and get in to the top three of their Britonish ranking in order to play at the International Tennis Trophy. With Leo Garry far in the lead, and looking to stay far in the lead until August, there were only two more spots that is up for grabs. This means that between Ralph Newkarn, Derek Dubrovnik, Kyle Anderson and Elizabeth Quehall needs to fill up those last two spots. At the moment, Elizabeth Quehall is far behind, ranking in the 80s, but the three men that were just mentioned are very close to each other, and therefore, every point is necessary. Though, the Britonish Open might not be as fantastic in their perspective as it could be.

Let's start on the positives. Leo Garry managed to beat Darkmanian Jöakÿm Fërdermas in straight sets, 6-4 and 7-6, which made this one of the easiest matches for Leo Garry in a long time. Of course, he did enter a tiebreak in the last set, which is something that he likes to avoid, but he still managed to beat the Darkmanian. Leo Garry was the last player on the player on Centre Court, so he had the victory from fellow Britonish Ralph Newkarn to spur him on. Interestingly, he will go on to face Ralph Newkarn in the next round as he managed to beat Tony Tuk from Qasden in good style, 6-4, 6-4. Ralph Newkarn sees himself upgraded from Court Four to Centre Court for the Britonish clash. The match between Leo Garry and Ralph Newkarn is expect to be a good one, as Ralph tries to get as many points to become Britonish #2. Leo Garry and Ralph's match will be broadcast on BVC One tonight at around 20:00 on Centre Court. It is expected to get a large audience.

Similarly to Kyle Anderson, Lukas Nunhead might be a hidden stunner at this Britonish Open as he miraculously managed to beat Cenian Neia Dovan, 7-6, 6-1 in a match which will define his career. Lukas Nunhead is ranked god-knows-where, but is hoping to get in to the mix of the International Tennis Trophy team. While he believes he won't be able to do it before August, he would like to be considered for the upcoming year. Lukas will go on to play Alwyn Pedr from Ferret Civilization on Court Three at 3pm. If you would like to watch this, you can watch the Britonish Open coverage on BVC Two, where we will go to the third court to watch this match - which is make or break for him.

Kyle Anderson faced a shock defeat against Giovanni Xadenzo from Qasden, after he came down from a set down, making the match a real thriller! Kyle Anderson managed to win the first set 6-3, and from a Britonish audience's perspective, this would have been very normal, and one could've assumed that Kyle was fine to go on to the next stage. But the Court Four pitch did not agree with him as he was cast away as Giovanni beat Kyle in the next two sets 6-1, 6-2 - which Kyle was not happy about. Walking off of the court, he said that he wished he played on the bigger courts, which he would have been had he won the match.

It was as if Court Four had a curse on us as Derek Dubrovnik fell to Feyrord Poniac from Qasden after another thrilling three-setter. Freyrord won the first set 3-6, but Derek was not having any of it. Derek Dubrovnik managed to win the second set, receiving a huge amount of cheers from the crowd trying to spur him on. However, that seemed to fall on deaf ears as Derek Dubrovnik could not sustain his winning streak of games on when Feyrord started to pull away with the set, eventually winning 6-3, 4-6 and 6-2. Derek was very disappointed when he walked off the court...

Ceallachán Amhlaoibh was the barrier between Elizabeth Quehall and...well...another player from Ferret Civilization as Elizabeth lost to Amhlaoibh 2-6, 3-6 in a match that was over very quickly.

There has been criticism from Britonisea over the fact that the Britonish players aren't given spots on the Centre Court and Court One and is argued that "Home isn't treating them right." However, the organisers have hit back, arguing that they "will get the good courts when their ranking is higher - despite them being Britonish, us being proud of that, we want all players to be on one playing field."

Postby Ferret Civilization » Thu Apr 19, 2018 1:53 pm

After what seemed to go by really quick of a night it was time to get up and go through another round of matches to see how the team would fare against the more established names. With a large breakfast down the team was off to the courts to keep up their regular schedule. First up was the doubles side which would see everyone playing at the same time, though two pairs of them would be playing against each other. It still meant that Euan had to miss two other matches at any moment leaving some without any sideline support at all. Birger and Hermanni however were willing to take things in stride and were willing to go in alone, well more alone than usual. Same with Säde and Llinos, the four of them would have to face their Qad competition without much of a motivation booster. It was going to be interesting for Euan to see how that would affect the team’s overall performance.

Hermanni and Birger were able to keep up their outstanding luck and skill on the new court setting and were able to hold a lead without any of the other teammates of theirs being able to see. Llinos and Säde were surprisingly able to pull the exact same feat in another court at the same time which would be a fun conversational topic once the day was over. Meanwhile for their males versus females match it was Ceallachán and Alwyn able to completely dominate the first set, setting the stage for the males on the team to do better in pairs than they did on the singles side. Birger and Hermanni were able to wrap things up quickly continuing on with their parade of success taking their second set faster than the first to win the match. They would get to play the winner of their all Ferret matchup, meaning that once again on the doubles side at least the team was guaranteed to move forward in the competition tomorrow. The two were able to join Euan in watching Dagmar and Ástríður try to win the second set for themselves but were unable to do so, leaving it to be Hermanni and Birger versus Ceallachán and Alwyn next round of matches. Meanwhile during that Säde and Llinos had a rough patch losing the second set pretty hard, though seeing their fellow team members be able to get in and watch the third set really was a boost that they needed. With that they were able to turn things around at the very end to win the match and make for a perfect as possible doubles day yet again on the grass of Britonisea.

With that they had a small break again, this time they were able to get a snack to eat and watch other players play in their matches before they were up for their singles side matches. First up would once again split two of them, this time being Llinos and Alwyn, splitting up the team just like last time to watch both of their games. Both of them would end up taking a loss in the first set, with Llinos not really having a chance near the end against the Cenian. Alwyn was able to fair a little better taking things all the way until a tie breaker game to see how things would go, failing to overcome the Briton there. Though from there surprising they would both turns things around and take a strong lead in their respective second and third sets to win the matches. With that the two of them would switch the nationalities of the competition that they had to face tomorrow, making for more excitement to look forward to.

From there with all their superb luck so far it was time to get to Ástríður and having the entire team being able to watch each other’s matches. Though sadly this would be the first lost for them in the event, with the Ferret going up against the Qad one on one. The two of them went at it the first set going into a similar tie breaker that Alwyn had to go into, losing it just like he did. But instead of being able to rise up and turn things around like her teammates were able to do she ended up getting her tail handed to her in the second set, swifting losing the match from there just like that. While it was a bummer compared to how well the team was able to do so far on the grass things were still going more than great, with Ceallachán and Birger up with one of them already ready to get through. Between the both of them Birger had to keep up his major success so Ceallachán kind of tried but in the end just let his friend have the match for himself with little resistance. Seeing Birger get through after a quick two sets to see if Dagmar would come through to give them another guarantee on the singles side again just like on the doubles.

Being last up for their matches Dagmar was looking to try and do her best against the Qad Feyrord, though just like Ástríður things were just not meant to be for the two of them on this grass. After taking the first set after some near call games her competition was the one to turn things around this time to take the next to sets for themselves despite some games getting dragged out. Though on the grass things went a lot faster than normal routine. Once see lost Dagmar and Ástríður were the two to just no have things go their way after losing to their teammates on the doubles side, and now they were fully out of the competition, just left to watch the others. It was not bad for them, as they were top ten players somehow, it was their teammates that needed these wins more so they were happy to see them win instead. And with that another day was over, tomorrow they already had at least one confirmed win on the doubles side at least that would prevent some freak wipeout like what has happened before with the team. So they would hold onto that the most when it came to celebrating tonight while watching the local media and what not.
Currently traveling across the United States. Still up for any conversations though.

It was time for the most excitement as what usually came when it was time to go through the finals part of any event, with the team looking to be in a good spot going into it with half their team still in the competition. The local media was all out favoring the national players to go for the win on their home court with the Qads and Cenians being sure to put out their normal excellence. When it came to the event itself with the way the timing was working the team was not getting a lot of extra free time despite the competition getting smaller and needing less time in the day to play. Meaning they had the morning, a break period, and a little bit at the end to enjoy themselves instead of the normal routine. But they were making due, and with breakfast out of the way it was time to see how the team would fare in these pivotal last matches.

First up would be Säde and Llinos taking on Leo and Elizabeth, the best team signed up in this event and one of the first two matches of the day starting the day off in a crazy place to see what would happen. The Britons had the advantage of being on the home field, probably having more grass experience as well, and a larger supporting audience to cheer them on as well. It was looking to be a pretty one sided match that the two Ferrets were against all odds, able to come out on the court and dominate the first set. Surprising even the rest of the team with the effort the two put into trying to go for that win, in the end of the first set they had taken every single game for a thorough victory there. But the Britons were sure to not go down like that, returning that whipping favor in the second set. Which brought everything to the tense third set needed for the match win. And just to make everything so much worse it was not as one sided as the first two sets set the situation up to be, getting dragged out a few games with a tie. While the Ferret team had no idea what to make of the native Britonisea crowd, they were giving it their all in the stands as well to support the two of their own against the louder voice of the majority. In the end it would be Llinos and Säde to come through with a lead near the end of the set to take the match win. Starting off the day to a great start with such a feat.

Birger, Hermanni, Alwyn, and Ceallachán were up next at noon, and since one of the pairs had to win the team once again had another surprisingly as perfect as they could get it day on the doubles side of the event. Even more to boot with that great news was that whoever won this match would go onto face their teammates once again, giving them a spot in the Final match. Which gave them a shot to win the competition on the doubles side already, with the way they were set up on the doubles side, it could not have gone better for them. During the match despite Alwyn wanting to be the best Birger and Hermanni had to put him in his place to Ceallachán’s enjoyment once again. With the two of the better males of the group taking most the games of the first set. And while the four of them put on a good show in the second set it would be Birger and Hermanni to go onto face Säde and Llinos in the semifinals. From there they would have a large break time to go take in the city life and see how the news of Leo and Elizabeth’s loss were taken. It would be a rather bold move with the national spirit for tennis.

Though once the outing time was over the team was sure to try and watch the other matches though Alwyn and Birger were up at the same time once it came time for their team to have to play again. Birger would go into his singles match with as much success as he did in his doubles side friendly practice match. Taking the Qad Feyrord on game to game eventually getting the lead to take the first set for himself. Alwyn himself though would continue to have trouble for the day much like Dagmar and Ástríður had to deal with. Losing all but one of the games in the first set of his match against Cenian Johmer taking another good hit to his infinite pride. Meanwhile Birger would continue to go strong against the Qad to take even more of the second set for himself to win his match. At the end of the day he would learn that he would have to face another Qad if he wanted to move on in the competition. Alwyn on the other hand ended up losing his second set in the match despite making a little bit of recovery.

That just left Llinos to overdo the last Briton in their own competition in order to face off against the Cenian that beat Alwyn. And much like she was able to do on the doubles side she delivered success by managing to stay ahead of Ralph which dragged up the score. Taking the final two games needed to win in the first set before things had to go past the normal end point. Going into the second set would not grant the Ferret such a favor however, with her and Ralph each doing their part to keep that scored tied and wasting all that time in order for one of them to get the win for themselves. When the tie breaker game eventually had to come in order to settle what would happen next Llinos made sure to be the one to take it with everything she had in her. Paying off to be the one to face off against the Cenian Johmer. With the day over with, the team was still looking great in the spot that they had, with the single side matches each having a Ferret in them to possibly take the Finals all for themselves, and on the doubles side with a Finals spot already secured. While things could still go terribly they could not look any better than ever.

It was time for the semifinals to happen and with the fewer amount of matches going on the first match would not take place until noon. The event organizers also switched up the order of play, making the singles side go first this time when it did come time to take the court. With the cooler air the team was able to enjoy the less sunny day to go out and enjoy themselves with all the tourist spots. The weather seemed to follow the mood of the place however as nothing seemed as upbeat as it was before. Though after doing all the fun out of routine stuff it was time for the team to get to the courts. Llinos was the first up facing off against Johmer and seeing if she could do what Alwyn had failed to do. Things started off with a lot of back and forth with each side looking to get that early lead that had never came for either of them. In the end of the first set it would be Llinos to come through in the final games needed to win it. Going into the second set she was able to get that early lead and expand upon that situation to dominate the court, taking all but one game for herself in that part of the match. Coming out with the second set win needed to move on and hopefully play against Birger in the final match of the competition.

There would be a few hours of downtime before it was Birger’s time to step up and try to beat the last Qad in the competition. Though for him it would just not be, messing up enough on the grass finally to lose much needed games and whatever lead he had a shot at in the first set. Going into the second set would largely go the same way with Jaxton able to keep control of the match to take the games they needed to win. Coming to be the one that would lose for the day. From there they would have an even longer break time before they would get to watch the last of the Cenians play against each other before their team had to play against each other to see who would be in the final match on the doubles side. Watching that match they were surprised to see the Cenian Xal sisters be the one to lose their match. And with that another break would happen to pass the hours by.

Going into the final match of the day Llinos and Säde had asked Hermanni and Birger for the favor of letting things go their way to have a chance of getting their win on the doubles side. With the two males already being highly ranked on paper they were more than happy to let things go as they may with a slant. Birger joking that if he did not mess up so badly that Llinos should return the act someday, which of course everyone on the team would do for each other anyways. With that the four of them had their fun on the grass, enjoying the odd situation that brought all of them together on the doubles side, with only their own team taking themselves out there. Llinos and Säde slowly took the lead in the first set and held it until the end where they came out the winners there. Going into the second set with a little more playful back and forth and seeing how they could drag their games out before everything had to come to an end. It would be Llinos and Säde to go on and face Coosal and Gyrachor in the final match for a shot to win on the grass.

Llinos would also get another shot to win on the singles side facing Qad Jaxton, this time trying to overcome where Birger had failed for a shot to win. If she managed to pull of both the singles and doubles side it would be her to take both the first wins on the grass with this being the team’s first time playing on the grass to boot. It made for a curiosity of a situation, definitely a talking point amongst themselves if things went in their favor in this final moment. So far everything was still looking up for the team and they continued to enjoy every single second of it all, even if it went away tomorrow they at least had second place secured for themselves which was good enough for a first time experience.

The time in the nation of Britonisea was coming to a close, with the final match coming up soon and all eyes were once again on Llinos. With an extra excitement with her and Säde having a chance to win the doubles side to possibly be the second pair winners in the team. All this to wrap up their first time playing on the grass courts, all in all there it was a great time. The way the competition was set up the team did not get a lot of time outside the radius of the tennis courts, though they still got to see a lot. Getting through another night and morning routine the team had until the afternoon before Llinos had to play and the later afternoon for her and Säde had to play. So they had the entire morning to finally get a long period of time just to look around and explore which they made the most of.

Though once it came time to play on the court the entire team was able to support Llinos in her game against Jaxton. Things there were looking to be a rough start with the both of them going back and forth until the Qad got the lead to take the first set win. Putting the Ferret in a tough spot of needing to win the next set in order to drag things out, starting off just one game at a time. With that she slowly took the lead and quickly expanded upon that to take most of the second set for herself. Bringing things into a third set both sides were probably looking for that win now, but this time the Ferret was able to keep that lead coming in from the second set. Keeping it all the way until the end of the third set to win the match and take the win. Being the first grass win for the team which got a lot of celebration during the downtime they all had between the this match and the doubles match.

After a few hours of enjoying the intermediate sunlight keeping things nicer than they were elsewhere it was time for Llinos to get back onto the court with Säde. Going into their first set was just as rough as it was on the singles side, with the two Cenians eventually getting the lead the first set to win it. Though the two Ferrets were able to turn things around in the second set to take every single game in it. With that achievement out of the way it was the third set to decide who would be the winner, the Ferrets able to hold the lead there just like on the singles side to eventually win the match. Being the second grass win and the second doubles win for the team, bringing in more reason to celebrate after taking the Britonish Open all for themselves in the end. It was also the first time that the team had only lost to themselves for an entire event competition, though it was just on the doubles side, it was still something to celebrate.

With that they got to enjoy a final sunset before they would have to go home and then eventually the next tennis event to hopefully rinse and repeat.
