Four Teams, Four Nations, Four Continents

The FFA Champion's Cup Semi Finals are upon us, the final four sides from across the globe will battle it out in the final stage of the home-and-away portion of the series before the victors congregate in Berke to decide the ultimate Champion of Champions in this second iteration of the Champions Cup.

Olympique de Lotrique vs SC Klintstadt
l'Ol and Klintstadt both emerged victorious out of two very competitive fixtures, the Volghari and Navish favourites for the tournament both missing out on advancement from the quarter finals. The match will see two fierce rival clubs from two fierce rival nations from two fierce rival continents competing to see who will advance to the grand final. Both of their quarter final matches were nail biters, Olympique advancing on penalties and Klintstadt by a single goal. Both sides will be hoping to take this first leg as an opportunity to spring board their series and secure advancement. Olympique appear to be the slight favourites, given the match history between the two sides and the overall strength of showing that the Midrasians havr shown throughout their Cup campaign. The Rohstian side are not to be underestimated however, and it would not be a surprise if they managed to pull out a handy victory against the Cup favourites.

Royal Guardians vs Üden Khot
The eastern semi-final will see the Savaian side of Guardians take on the reigning VKL Avarga Temtseen premiers in Üden. Both sides have become infamous in their matchups in the past knockout rounds for snatching victory from the claws of defeat, coming back in the second leg to turn what should've been convincing losses into tightly fought victories. A win for either side will see the contuination of their spell of good form. Khot in particular are hoping to turn their Cinderella story victory in the Premiership into a full blown epic with a further victory in the Champions Cup.

It is also rumoured that Veçuyev Khan has offered to gift a bottle of Dars, the only official liquor of Volghari Football, to Queen Lani of Ajerrin should Üden Khot lose.

Royal Guardians Are Down But Not Out; Akapiki Could Play Game 2

Ajerri Prince En Route To Global Event

Waipahu,Er'in'a The Royal Guardians scored first in the first semifinal match of two, however four unanswered goals by Üden Khot shut the door to any hopes of a Savaian victory this afternoon.

With the loss, the Guardians are behind on points walking in to the final match once again. Striker Kei Mika capitalized on an early opportunity when his shot deflected off the back of Khal Gutahl, beating Chimbai Dargan during the 11th minute to an early goal.

The Khot answered back with a shot in the 13th minute, however striker Ulaan William-Terhil’s attempt would bounce off the post, keeping them off the board.

Stiker Kei Mika received a ball from Logan Tipolia and put the ball past Dargan only to hit the right post in the 15th minute.

The Khot scored and scored fast starting in the 19th minute, tying the game. They would make another shot before the 30th minute but it failed left. On the 38th minute, star defensemen Piho Akapiki suffered a severe head injury in a clash with Runar Ree while going up for a header and fell face first on the ground. The medics carried Akapiki off on a stretcher, where he was taken to a local hospital for stitches and monitoring.

Seconds into the 40th minute the William-Terhil scored off of replacement defensemen Mari Kalaniopa to take a 2-1 lead over the Guardians.

Sühk Khal would score on two back-to-back shots in the first minute of the second half, sending the Guardians into a defensive posture once again.

All the while the Guardians and Kai Mika continued to find holes in the Khot’s defense, with an astounding 8 more shots in the second half. Each one, however, was stopped by William-Terhil (48th, 54th, 84th) or hit posts (46th, 62nd, 79th, and 88th).

At the closure of the game Kai Mika’s face spoke a thousands words - the most easily recognizable was anger. “It was a great first half, we played really well and scored a goal early. We knew we had to control the tempo and we did. Akapiki’s defense saved us more than enough in the first half and I think that just shook us up. Mari [Kalaniopa] played a good game despite getting beat. We all allowed them back in the game though, and once they scored those two goals in the second half they had all the momentum throughout.”

Update: Teammate Haka Watapi said after the game that the team has received “good news” regarding Akapiki who needed only 10 stitches. And reports from the hospital confirm that the defensemen did not lose consciousness on the pitch and is stable. Queen Lani and the millions of Guardian fans hope Akapiki will have his defensive skills ready for the deciding game against the Khot.

More on this as it comes.

Üden Khot Take a First Leg Lead

City emerged the ultimate victors in the first leg of the semi-finals, taking a 4-1 lead over their opponents in the Ajerri Royal Guardians. The comeback from 1 goal down to a 3 point victory saw the visiting Volghari fans taking to the streets of Waipahu in celebration. Notabely, the fans were surprisingly well behaved, shedding the infamous reputation of Volghari fans internationally as football hooligans and ruffians. A spokesperson for the official Üden Khot Football Club Fan Group stating "The boys in Khoid have given us as a nation a bad name, we're just here to watch a solid game of football and cheer on the lads!"

Tragedy did strike in the game when Runar Ree collided with the Guardians' defender Piho Akapiki, the Navish midfielder has stated, "It's unfortunate that it happened, football is a physical game and I hope that Piho makes a full recovery and plays in the second leg."

Bookkeepers have Khot as the favourites to win the ultimate series given the lead they have already established in this first leg, however the second match and the rate at which the Guardians are training see the Yidaoans as slight favourites to win the second leg.

Üden Khot Advance to Grand Final

In an unprecedented run, the boys from the capital are set to take on Rohstian side SC Klinstadt in the Champions Cup Grand Final. After comfortable putting away the Royal Guardians of Ajerrin in both legs of the semi-final round, the Volghari will be looking to take down the team that defeated reigning champions Olympique de Lotrique last week. Coach of the side, Venchaav Altar stated "I'm honoured to be leading these boys, we've got a damn fine side. We proved it last season in the VKL, and we're going to prove it right here in the Champions Cup. Khot is the best team in the world, and we have the best fans in the world."

The impassioned response is not uncommon from the leading man at the capital club, who became infamous in his threats to rival sides in the lead up the deciding final rounds of last year's Premiership. Whilst this year, City is not playing to the same standards they did last season, it seems their form from 2016-17 has carried across with them onto the grandest of stages.

The players have touched down in Berke in preparation for the match, and are allegedly training as usual, the starting line up and tactics appear to have gone unchanged from their last few showings.

We would also like to announce that Veçuyev Khan has received his bottle of Kawanakan Ocean Vodka, and in an interview with assembled media stated with a laugh "[it's] some of the best damn liquor I've ever had."

2018 Season Preview

Image

Greetings, fans of football in Carcossica and beyond. May this update find you very well! With the beginning of the Month of April brings much warmer weather and sunshine to the home of the Thesha, and the start of a new year of play in the world's greatest sport in the home of some of the world's greatest teams. Stadiums across Carcossica are opening their gates to thousands of eager fans, the many storied fields of the nation are ready to host their clubs, and the professional footballers of the nation are certainly ready to show their skill and prowess to the world.

This makes a great moment for new fans of Carcosse football to get introduced to some of the big names to look for and find their own favorite team, preferred rival, or darling player. Keep an eye on further releases from Thesha and our media affiliates for more on our many top-rank teams and all the people who make it great, from the fans, to the stadium-keepers, the coaches and clubs themselves, and everything in between.

Top 5 Teams To Watch

ImageImageImageImageImage

Port Rikhdin KF (Eastern) - The winner of the Memorial Cup in 2017, the Bridgers of Port Rikhdin are among the most historically-successful clubs in Modern Thesha play. With 27 Cups in their cabinet, and an ongoing streak of 19 years in the top five T1 clubs, it goes without saying that the Boys from the Diamond City are aching for a 28th win. Its crosstown rivals, Uogne Feugem Aesojna, is back in Thesha, and will certainly be a match which garners a lot of attention considering its recent reorganizations.
Kieḫnojaksem Aesojna (Northern) - Historically a darling of T2 Play among the northern Sees (and a fan favorite in Arzvan), KNA has shown itself to be a defensive powerhouse, with its fans lovingly referring to their midfielders as "the Great Wall of Statjaghizen". Though being long considered on the shortlist for return to the Thesha, 2018 marks KNA's first T1 appearance since 2009.
Thadyrissen City KF (Territorial) - After nearly a decade of play outside of the Thesha, TCKF has made an agreement to return to the Carcosse Leagues from Savai. While definitely quite a ways from home, the fast-paced, aggressive playstyle of the Golden Palms should prove to be quite the challenge for even the most experienced of teams. Look out, Port Rikhdin fans, you just may have found your team's toughest match yet!
Uogne Feugem Aesojna (Eastern) - UFA, a member of the Original eight teams in T1 Play, had a particularly weak season last year. Despite a fair showing during the early matches, the unexpected death of its captain, Ignacio Delatorre of Isolaprugna, as well as a reshuffling of the offensive coaching staff earlier in the year, had caused quite a disruption to the team's ability to compete in the much more intense second half of the year. With a historically devastating 9-21 Season for the club, the Maize Stripes had an impressive showing in the Relegation Rounds, with their 8-1 victory over Arvalin KB securing their place in the 2018 season. Reorganized and ready to prove themselves, UFA may just be poised to have its best season in years.
Vef-Fogin Kaevhan (Western) - One of two teams owned and sponsored by the Synod of the Republic, these lads were among the more well-heeled members of the T2 clubs. Historically an on-and-off member of the League since the 1940s, many had come to think of VFK as a "complacent" program. The winds of change appear to have reached management, though, as the entire head coaching staff had been shockingly replaced soon after the lackluster 2016 Season. With a year of successful play in T2 under their belt, Head Coach Statjan Rubad, formerly chief defensive coach for the Carcosse National Team, is optimistic about the Blues' chance to assert itself as a cornerstone team in the 2018 T1 Season.

FORMULA A: A LOOK AHEAD TO THE SEASON
As pre-season testing begins, we give an overview of the teams and tracks for this years' FA season

Image
Aighwind-Mótordiuil will be hoping that this years' car will be fast enough to
challenge for the top spot
Pre-season testing is underway for this seasons' Formula A world championship. Due to the ongoing war in Midrasia, testing this year will take place in Cuirpthe at the Ráschúrsa Idirnáisiúnta in Portlaoise. However, it is expected that the Midrasian Grand Prix, scheduled for later this year, will still take place as usual due to its location relative to Veleaz. It is expected that extra security measurers will be in place however.

This years' season will take place over a total of 12 rounds, across 5 continents.
The opening race of the season will take place in Salborga, with the cars gracing the 7km circuit which is the longest of the calendar with 28 corners. The circuit sees drivers crest the sweeping track through the Principality's hills and forests. The second round of the tournament will then see drivers head east to Dreyvisevich, the circuit Zhaknye Klatra, its long straights and famous esses making it demanding power circuit sorting the men from the boys. The third race takes place in Renneque at the Autorota Internationale, another circuit favouring top-speed with its banking track seeing many incidents in the past. The fourth race sees the start of the Asuran season, where most car upgrades come along. This year the Asuran season kicks off in Aquidneck, with the Olba Street Circuit, followed by Midrasia, Navack and Cuirpthe. The eighth round will take place in Tyronova, followed by Ajerrin for round nine. Round ten will take place in tir Lhaeraidd, with the eleventh in Elhazia. The final round of the season will take place in the glitz and glamour of Onza, at the Kunta International Circuit, where the 2018 champion will be crowned.

So far 8 teams are confirmed for the tournament, though it is known that several others are still seeking official authorisation to enter into this years season.
Confirmed so far are the Cuirpthean team Aighwind Racing, who are expected to be a real contender this year, after much-hyped performance upgrades that the Cuirpthean outlet will hope can see them secure the win and even a potential world championship. Assoluto Racing will also unsurprisingly take part this year with the hopes of retaining their high levels of performance. Givenchi Racing of Navack also return with their line-up of Stefan Smedberg and Donato Benetti, whether the Givenchi engine can keep up with the competition, however, will remain to be seen. KTBM Motoring of Hipasia will also take part this year, as a customer team of Givenchi. Where the Hipasian outfit will place is unknown. Racing Team Solvalou continue their run in the sport, with the hopes of retaining their past glory. As a customer team of Assolutto however, it is unlikely the Midrasian outlet will be at the front, though they are sure to be key contenders in the midfield. Scuderia Aquinecco continues its run in the sport. The conglomeration of Aquidish firms was formed to prevent Aquidish manufacturer Polcari exiting the sport as a whole, but can the Scuderia keep up? Southern Waves Racing of Ajerrin enters for their second season, again with Mótordiuil providing their power unit. The question is whether the Cuirpthean outfit's pace will translate to the Ajerri car? Finally, we have VWM Racing of Newrey who are struggling considerably, both due to the ongoing civil war in their home country which has significantly impacted the outfit's, but also the rumours that their engine this year is not up to scratch. Nevertheless, VWM are reunited with former Assolutto driver Horatio Biddick after he parted with the Midrasian team last year. It is hoped that Biddick will at least allow Victory-Wald to finish in the points this season. Only time will tell if VWM can compete.
Image
Assoluto managed to win the title last year, though will they repeat this feat in 2018?

This years' tournament sees several regulation changes compared with last season. The cars themselves see a change in aero-regulations, allowing teams to develop much more complex parts than previously. It is hoped that this freedom will allow cars to be faster, though concerns have been raised about the overtaking ability of the cars. Due to this each circuit will have at-least 1 DRS zone, where if a following car is within 1 second of the car ahead, they will be able to activate DRS, effectively giving them a power boost through the selected zone. The cars themselves this year are v8-hybrids, utilising a complex system of energy storage from both the wheels and heat of the engine which will give cars a significant energy boost from the stored electrical energy, preventing turbo lag and allowing the cars to reach speeds in excess of 375 km/h (233 mph). In terms of the races themselves, qualifying has been reformatted to a system of reverse grid one-shot qualifying which is hoped will give teams lower down the order more airtime, whilst providing an element of uncertainty to the starting order. 3 dry tyres will be provided for teams within this season, the soft, medium and hard compound, which each allow teams to run longer stints, though at the expense of lap-times. Additionally, 2 wet compounds, the intermediate and wet will also be provided.

At testing today, some indication of the pecking order became clear as the 8 confirmed teams got out on track.
Assoluto looked to be packing significant power, though with their testing program merely running the medium and hard tyres we were unable to get a clear indication of the cars' outright pace. However, Assolutto did complete the most laps of any team, with 175 laps. Similarly, the R.T. Solvalou car looked strong, with Manoel Oliveira putting out a best time of 1:27.781 on the soft tyres, landing him in 5th on the grid. Teammate Liisi Järvinen however failed to match this time, though managed a 1:28.033. Only time will tell if Solvalou's decision to hire a female driver was merely a publicity stunt. Aighwind topped the standings however, with Abban Dietrich posting a 1:27.521. Though it has been suggested that Aighwind's home field advantage may have played into this result. VWM however, appears the early strugglers. With the fight for midfield looking relatively close, the Newreyan outfit lagged almost a second behind the nearest competitors Southernwaves and KTBM with a 1:31.874 their best time. Only time will tell if the Newreyan outfit can improve on this within the first race of the season.
