Mriin National Team
For competition in the 78th World Cup

Style: +1

Note that all players (and most Mriinians) are Satyrs, or anthropomorphic goats. Horns, hooves, and a tail, but hands and bipedal. It might also be of note that Mriin uses a blend of steampunk science and high fantasy magic, rather than being modern or postmodern tech.

Home Field: Haven Stadium, Maal; cap. 65,000. Located in the scenic downtown of Mriin's capital, at the heart of a large riverfront bazaar.

Bape-Supreme's National Football Team

currently unranked
nickname: the V I S I O N A R I E S (team), the V R O T H E R H O O D (fans)

*bape-supreme's anthem is always set to the tune of a song that is trending at the time, therefore bape-supreme's anthem changes quite frequently. there is a biannual referendum on whether or not to change the tune of the national anthem; more often than not, the citizens vote to change the tune to a new song. this causes a headache for the government, as they frequently have to scramble to tweak the lyrics of the anthem to fit the new tune.

The Team

football is a relatively recent concept in the country. although it has been played in some capacity since Bape-Supreme's founding, it was played as a schoolyard game. the game started to become more popular as more immigrants, who had come from countries where football is more established, came to Bape-Supreme. even though the game had a significant following in immigrant communities, who would play pickup games in the nation's parks on the weekends, it never really caught on among the locals, who only like things that either have prestige or success; football has neither of these things yet in Bape-Supreme. there was no national soccer team, until Jacob Brioni, a multi-millionaire who made his fortune off of pizza delivery, gave a large grant to start a football team. it was hard to find enough Hypebeasts to make a team, not only because they were not too interested in football, but they are also known to be a relatively unhealthy people. however, they were able to lure in a group of young men to play with the promise of free designer clothes if they joined. without further ado, here is Bape-Supreme's team for the 78th world cup.

Manager Kevin Brioni 26 yo- the firstborn son of Jacob Brioni, he became the manager as a result of a clause included in the grant. he has a very commanding personality and appears fit to lead a team like this. unfortunately, he knows almost nothing about football, but his pride prevents him from learning more about the game. this leads to situations where he gets confused about the team's gameplan or cannot make any objective comments about the game during a press conference. As a result, most of the tactics are handled by his assistant (and little sister) Jessica Brioni.

Assistant Manager Jessica Brioni 23 yo- the little sister of the manager Kevin Brioni, she was her brother's first pick to be his trusty aide. she loves to read, and acquired most of her knowledge about the game through books. she is also quite smart and level-headed. she is one of the only people on Kevin's staff that actually has useful knowledge about football. as a result, almost everything related to tactics falls to her. despite only starting to research the game two years ago, she really understands the game and her players, and can bring out the best in them.

Tactics- Bape-Supreme plays in a 3-4-3 formation that is designed to take advantage of one of their only strengths; speed. their fastest players are on the wings, and they try to get the ball out to the wings as much as possible. their tactics employ lots of long balls and through balls to get the ball where it needs to be. they play a offensively-minded game; their style modifier is 3. when the manager Kevin Brioni was asked why their style modifier is 3, he simply replied, "my mom used to tell me that 3 is the magic number. so I guess that means we're magic lol."

Image

First Team- the best 11 Hypebeasts in all of Bape-Supreme. none of them play professionally; most are stars in their local sunday league
GK- #1 Lucky Bartolomeo 19 yo- he originally was a midfielder, but Kevin made him play goalkeeper just because his name was Lucky. "if his parents named him Lucky, then he must be lucky, and we need all the luck we can get back there". his hand skills are pretty abysmal, but he is pretty good with his feet, and distributes the ball to Ronny Giroux and Jared Viteri with ease.

RB- #22 Ronny Giroux 22 yo- a great communicator. most of the plays start in the back with him. he is a team leader, and admired by his teammates, so Jessica Brioni made him assistant captain.

CB- #14 Leopoldo Freund 25 yo- he is a big guy, with a stocky build. he uses this to his advantage, delivering bone-crushing tackles and dispossessing opponents of the ball. his aggressiveness tends to earn him bookings, but is nevertheless a huge asset to the team.

LB- #6 Jared Viteri 24 yo- he works with Ronny Giroux to get the ball up to the midfield. he has many tricks up his sleeve.

RM- #12 Christopher Chaput 18 yo- the best passer in the midfield; connects with Daiki Renaud to start attacking plays.

CM- #46 Bettino James 20 yo- the x-factor on the team. he is quite good with long-range passing, and uses through balls to the attackers to create chances.

CM- #28 Marcelo Abe 26 yo- the oldest person on the team; like Ronny Giroux, people look to him for leadership. even though he is not too fast, his stamina is his biggest asset; when the others are tired, he can really carry the team.

LM- #11 Santino Di Antonio 16 yo- the youngest player on the team. he uses his pace to deliver and distribute the ball to the attackers and defenders.

RW- #7 Daiki Renaud 18 yo- he has a deadly mixture of powerful shot and speed. can score from close up or far away. can also slip away from defenders and make chances.

LW- #9 Gottfried Waller 19 yo- unlike Daiki Renaud, whose specialty is power, Gottfried's specialty is accuracy. he is a free kick specialist, and can curl the ball over walls and curl the ball into the goal, making him a threat for short-range shots.

ST- #10 Daniel Brioni (captain) 21 yo- Jacob Brioni's youngest son. never played football before, but forced his way into the team. chose number 10 because he says that he is "as good as Messi". too many football video games have gotten to his head, and he thinks that he is better than he actually is. although he is captain, he lacks leadership, and tends to hog the ball.
Roles-
short free kicks- Gottfried Waller
long free kicks- Bettino James
penalties- Daiki Renaud
left corner- Santino Di Antonio
right corner- Christopher Chaput

Subs and Reserves-most of them do not have any practical experience playing football at a big stage; some have played at the park, others have played a video game. however, all of them most of them have a passion for the game

Subs
GK- #2 Percy Bonnay 22 yo
RB- #47 Cameron Columbo 24 yo
CB- #17 Bentley Carideo 16 yo
LB- #53 Israel Terzi 18 yo
RM- #15 Toby Bassa 23 yo
CM- #69 Gualterio Fux 21 yo
LM-#77 Ellery Newton 18 yo
LW- #4 Ezequiel Lapointe 19 yo
RW- #44 Waldemar Albero 22 yo

Stadia

in preparation for the world cup, Bape-Supreme built very large football stadiums. however, due to the apathy of the locals, there is shocking low attendance; stadiums are nearly empty on game days.
visiting fans will have no problem getting a seat; you might even recieve something in return, as many stadiums in the country do giveaways or reimburse you if you buy a ticket.

Cenian National Team - World Cup 78

Football History
Football in Ceni has only recently began to take off in popularity. Even though football has been present in Ceni for a good majority of the time that it has been settled, other sports, mainly tennis, badminton, and squash, held precedence in Cenian sporting life. For the most part, society gave football barely a passing glance as Ceni built its dominance in tennis. As the popularity of football grew in the last decade, however, pressure grew for the Cenian government to create a national team and send it to compete with the world's best. First, however, it would play in the 54th Baptism of Fire against other nations new to international football. In what was perhaps an ill omen for the rest of Ceni's international football campaigns, the Sarian, later to reach the final, crushed Ceni. In the group stage, Ceni barely managed one win before qualifying for the playoffs on goal difference, where they defeated Bonny in only their second win of the tournament, winning the opportunity to face eventual champion Buyan in the Round of 16. Although Ceni played valiantly, Buyan won, 1-0, in a not-surprising scoreline.

After its poor showing in the Baptism of Fire, Ceni embarked on its first World Cup qualification campaign. Not many people payed attention, and the team, led by Pablito Numede, managed to scrape up a few points before going home in ignominy. If one could say that Ceni's first qualification campaign was a three-year-old's small beach bucket, Ceni's second campaign barely made a drop in that bucket. The short description: nobody really cared. Sure, maybe some people were disappointed by the team's quite awful performance, but the general populace shrugged. In World Cup 69, Ceni finally started caring about its World Cup qualification prospects. Unsurprisingly, they weren't good. Although Ceni did manage to secure draws against Felix and Chiata, and a win against the then-twenty-ninth-ranked Super-Llamaland, it was not enough to make even a small dent in the large wall separating Ceni from World Cup qualification. In World Cup 70, Ceni had a real chance at qualifying. Despite falling 2-9 down to Audioslavia, Ceni notched a win against the second seed Neu Engollon to get a chance to defeat Electrum in a last-match day decider at home. Apparently the gods of fate were not smiling on the Cenian team, for the team fell by one goal, ending hopes of a playoff spot and World Cup qualification. Ceni's prospects had come so close, yet they were as far away as ever. At the Cup of Harmony, Ceni defeated Neu Engollon again, and shockingly defeated world number 9 and eventual champion Turori, ending a losing slide against the top 10. However, Ceni could not end its losing slide against Electrum, whom they faced in the Round of 16, losing for the third time in a row.

Ceni came back yet again for World Cup 71. It started disappointingly, with a loss to Zenic and a draw to the hitherto-unknown Octinstine courtesy of an Alliance for Cenian Future ploy. After that, Ceni won against second seed Barunia. On paper, the second half of qualification should have been good enough: four wins, one against top seed Blouman Empire, and three draws. Unfortunately, the draws were against Zenic at home and against the minnow Aynard, ranked in the three hundreds, and they sealed Ceni's doom. Soothsayers and gamblers who bet on Ceni's failure were the only ones celebrating. Without the disappointing draws to the bottom of the group, Ceni would have made the playoff spot; with five more points against Zenic, Ceni would have qualified outright. Alas, the gods of fate had conspired against Ceni once again, and Ceni would move to the Cup of Harmony at home. It performed decently. Despite draws to Kazamatsuri and Matthewsiana in the group stage, Ceni managed to advance to the Round of 16, where it defeated Darvale to reach the quarterfinals and Mizuyuki on penalties to reach the semifinals. It lost to Valanora, hardly surprising, and Saintland in the third place match, but Ceni finally had made somewhat of a mark in international football. It felt it was ready to qualify.

However, the dream did not come to fruition. In World Cup 72 qualification, the team lost to Barunia, a team it had beaten in World Cup 71, on the first match day and drew the 279th ranked Welcomzia. It then lost to the successor of Mizuyuki, Kirisaki, and drew with the 100th ranked side Vermark. Ceni's losses and disappointments kept coming, losing to minnows Emperor Pudu and Atrua. While the draws against Aynard and Octinstine were disturbing at best and heartbreaking at worst, Cenian supporters were crushed by their spell of bad luck during World Cup 72. A target for their fury was manager Osman Ibarra, who was sacked by the Cenian Football Federation, and replaced by Kirk Koromin, father of star Kel Koromin and manager of Tir Snake Strike, Ceni's best club. The switch seemed to have improved morale by a bit, as the team got revenge on Welcomzia, Vermark, and Atrua (all by the score of 3-2) and drew Kirisaki. However, it was not enough, as the pesky Emperor Pudu managed to defeat Ceni, and Ceni did not qualify, with a low take of 18 points. Surprisingly, however, Ceni improved one spot in the rankings, to forty-fourth. At this seemingly happy news, however, Cenian officials rued that they could have advanced into the top 40 with a better performance. It came to the Cup of Harmony facing an identity crisis and a crisis of leadership. However, its Cup of Harmony - a let's see our problems run for new coach Kirk Koromin - did not work out so well, with a loss to Barunia in the Group Stage as well as a heartbreaking penalty kick defeat to Chiata in the Round of 16. Ceni came to the World Cup cautiously optimistic and hoped that it would finally qualify on its seventh attempt.

Finally Ceni achieved their goal in World Cup 73 on their seventh attempt. Led by Jaime del Olmo and Kel Koromin, the team once again fell to the Opening Match Curse, suffering a defeat to Matthewsiania away, but rebounded after that, only losing once thereafter. Among notable games were the 6-6 draw with Free Republics and the 2-1 win away against HopNation. The World Cup also marked the debut of manager Kirk Koromin in World Cup qualifiers and the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, at which the national team has never lost. The team was second in their group and drew Gregoryisgodistan, which they beat on a penalty shootout at home with a maxed-out crowd of cheering fans. Finally Ceni had made it to the World Cup, where they lost to regional rivals Eura and Cosumar before beating (guess who) Free Republics for their first ever World Cup win on their first try. Ceni directly qualified for World Cup 74, winning its group, including two wins over top seed Northern Sunrise Islands. They entered the World Cup hopeful, drawing with Apox before losing to hosts San Jose Guayabal. They were confident against Gregoryisgodistan, with a place in the round of 16 on the line. They knew they could win the match - yet they managed to lose somehow, one to nil, denying them a chance in the second round and disappointing many. In World Cup 75, the qualifiers went through in a breeze, with the team going 13-1-0 in their best qualifying run in their history. In the World Cup Finals, however, they could not break their streak of group stage finishes, drawing with Barunia 0-0 and with Pasarga 2-2 but disappointingly drawing 0-0 with Ficiscia to deny them a spot in the knockout rounds yet again. In World Cup 76, the team was hoping to finally go deep in the World Cup, and they reached their first knockout round in the team's history, after defeating bogeyman Ficiscia 5-2 and World Cup veteran Osarius 3-2. In the octofinals, they defeated #2 seed Valladares 5-2 before proceeding to lose 4-1 to San Jose Guayabal in the quarterfinals. Although it was a disappointing finish, at least the team managed their best World Cup performance ever, and they were hoping to capitalize on that performance in San Jose Guayabal and Quebec. However, they were not able to; although they rampaged through their qualifying group, in their World Cup group stage, they choked to Anglatia and therefore failed to advance. They will therefore be hoping to qualify for only their second World Cup knockout round ever...

Team Formation
Manager Lyndainium will be testing out various lineups throughout qualifying to see what lineups and formations work best with his managing style; as such, the below starting lineup will only be used in a couple of matches.

Home Stadium
Cenial Halcyon National Stadium, Cenial, capacity 85,000
Image

Newly built to host a tournament like the Baptism of Fire less than a year ago, the Cenial Halcyon National Stadium hosts most of the Cenian national team's home matches. With a capacity of 85,000, the stadium has an unique roof which is retractable in case of inclement weather, preserving the optimal climate for spectators inside the stadium. The stadium also has won plaudits from national team players who say the stadium is one of the best grass pitches they have played on. Cenial United also hosts its home matches in this stadium. The stadium is currently the biggest in all of Ceni at this point and is fairly close to both of the major airports in Ceni, easily accessible by subway to those areas as well as most other areas of Cenial. It was built by the renowned Sky High Architecture in a southern area of Ceni, near the sea.

When elected as the host of the Baptism of Fire, the Cenian FA decided to upgrade some of the facilities at the stadium, including the press box and VIP box, as well as installing WiFi access for all seats, following the example of the Alexander I National Stadium. Notably in the history of the Cenial Halcyon Stadium, Ceni has never lost at this stadium when it was first used during qualifying for World Cup 73, and the Cenian national team defeated Gregoryisgodistan on penalty kicks to qualify for its first ever World Cup. The Halcyon National Stadium counts itself as one of the greenest buildings in Ceni, making use of solar panels wherever possible, recycling water and heat through its system (so that water used to water the pitch can be used in the toilets, etc.), making use of recycled materials in constructions, and other eco-friendly measures to reduce its energy footprint.

Cenial
Cenial is Ceni’s capital city; as such, the Cenian executive, legislative, and judicial branches are all located in Cenial. The Prime Minister has his home and offices here; office buildings for executive departments are also located in Cenial. The capitol building of Ceni, the meeting place for the Cenian Assembly, was recently redesigned and sits at the head of a park stretching to the President’s home. Judicially, the highest court in Ceni, the Supreme Court, meets here, as well as one of Ceni’s eight appellate courts. In elections, Cenial’s citizens are very active, with more than 85% turnout in national elections and 75% turnout in local elections.

Cenial attracts people from all over the region and the world with its world-class universities—the University of Ceni and the University of Cenial its two most prominent. The University of Ceni is renowned for its instruction in architecture, business, the humanities and history, politics, and law, while the University of Cenial focuses its academic investments in the science section. In fact, the University of Cenial is a leading research university in the fields of biotechnology and engineering.

A large part of Cenial consists of parks and greenery. One of the largest parks in the nation, Lake Cenial Park, stretches along the coast of Lake Cenial and provides opportunities for hiking, biking, canoeing and kayaking, Frisbee golf, and just plain old fun with friends and family. In the spring, when the cherry blossoms are in bloom, Lake Cenial Park is a very pretty sight, and its beautiful fountains are available year-round for all to enjoy. Another major park in Cenial is the Capitol Mall, a park stretching from the Capitol to the President’s House, with its memorial reflecting pool. Other green attractions in Cenial include the Japanese garden, in that section of the city, with its beautiful ponds, pagoda, and rock garden section for peaceful meditation, and the National Botanical Garden, with specimens from all over the world and exhibits of most major climates in the region. Not only is Cenial renowned for its green spaces, it is also renowned for its green attitude. Cenial is among the world’s leading cities in the proliferation of green technology, with a large number of buildings with energy saving measures. Many homes have solar panels, and the government has invested money into increasing the amount of renewable energy in the city; around 35% of the city’s electricity comes from renewable sources.

Cenial has a tolerant attitude and welcomes people from all over the world. As a result, Cenial has an incredibly diverse population. People from all over the world—from Asia, Africa, the Social Liberal Union, and all other regions of the world—have chosen to make Cenial their home. Because Cenial is very welcoming to all people, including refugees, Cenial supports a large population from Ciqi and Coconutstan, two countries ravaged by war. Because of its ethnic diversity, Cenial also has religious and language diversity. Hundreds of languages are spoken in different parts of Cenial, although English is mainly used in day-to-day communication. Religiously, no single religion makes up a majority of the population of Cenial. Atheism is the major religion in Cenial, with around 30% of people, although Christianity (almost equally split between Catholics and Protestants) (25%) and Islam (15%) both make up significant fractions of the population. Cenial has one of the world’s largest and most significant Chinatowns, while Little Saigon and Little Lyndainium are also significant ethnic enclaves. Ethnically, Cenians, Avaerilonians, Eurans, Electrumites, and Spanish make up a total of 75% of Cenial’s population, and there is a large diversity in the remaining 25%.

Cenial, as the cultural center of Ceni, is Ceni’s hub for performing arts. Cenial has the largest number of theatres, concert halls, and exhibition centers in all of Ceni. Cenial’s Royal Shakespearian Theatre Company is well renowned for its performances of Shakespeare’s plays, as well as other plays of Victorian English authors. Because of its diversity, Cenial has a large variety of ethnic restaurants of all kinds—from Westerheimian and Avaerilonian to Persian and Vietnamese, which are found mostly in ethnic sections of the city. Homemade Chinese noodles can be found in Chinatown, while Vietnamese culture is prevalent in Little Saigon. There are a number of excellent Avaerilonian restaurants in Little Lyndainium. Popular street foods in Cenial include Middle Eastern and Indian dishes. In the city centre, there are a large number of upscale restaurants catering to legislators, lobbyists, and richer tourists, while small cafes serving Cenian cuisine dot corner sides. Because of Ceni’s proximity to, and reliance on, the sea, Cenian cuisine places a large emphasis on fish and seafood. Popular Cenian dishes include Cenial Clam Chowder, widely regarded as one of the world’s best, various fish stews, and fish & chips. Other significant Cenian dishes contain crab, lobster, sea scallop, and cod. Alcoholic beverages are fairly common in Ceni, and there are a fair number of pubs, including some chain and local pubs. Cavalier Brewpubs and Machu Picchu Pubs, two famous chains, both originated out of Cenial. At night, a fair number of nightclubs serve alcoholic drinks and provide the citizen or tourist with the opportunity to party.

About Ceni
Ceni is a small island country of around 5500 km2 located in the eastern parts of the Rushmori region of Terranea. Although it has no land borders, the nearest countries are Electrum, from which it is separated in the west by a narrow strait, and the Isles of Avon, a small republic located to the east in the same island chain. With a population of just over 13 million, this makes Ceni one of the densest countries in Rushmore, at around 2360 people per sq km. Ceni is also one of the most urbanized countries in Rushmore, with the three major cities, Cenial, the capital, City Centre, and New Oxford, forming one large urban agglomeration, with the city petering out around the edges of the metropolis. Climate-wise, Ceni has a temperate oceanic climate, with the influence of the ocean helping to moderate both the summers and the winters - temperatures are almost never extreme either way, cold or hot.

Historically, Ceni was first settled by a group of people, ancestors of the Fererldan, who spoke a language, Ancient Cenian, that is almost extinct except for a few speakers (but it survives in many Cenian names, both surnames and given names), which is related to modern day Avaerilonian (the prevailing theory suggests that these people migrated from an area in New Gelderland, across a land bridge to Ceni, and then across to Avaerilon, where they settled later in time). The name Ceni itself comes from a corruption of an Ancient Cenian word for 'White Cliffs', which described the cliffs near the present day Dover. These people stayed in the area around Cenial for a while until a group of settlers from Eura arrived and settled in the southern half of Ceni, displacing some of these populations. A Spanish population from Valladares arrived and set up a colony in the north of Ceni, hoping to set up a port for the growing nation, but when the city of Junin was settled, these settlers were disappointed, nonetheless deciding to stay and send seafood to the Valladar communities as well as lobbying the government to set up a port in the north. These communities formed the backbone of a thriving Hispanic population in Ceni.

In the face of a rising Euran threat, these various colonies - the Fereldic population, the Spanish in the North, and Euran/Cenian mix in the South - decided to unify their solitary island in order to coordinate their defenses and reduce infighting. As the Euran threat died down, the Cenian government retooled its economy to provide services and goods to the growing Euran industrial economy while still remaining a bit on edge. As the economy bloomed, a group of Avaerilonian refugees settled in Ceni after escaping one of that country's long wars, establishing a Cenian tradition. These refugees contributed to Ceni's rising high-tech and service economy as the country moved into the 21st century.

Ceni's government is a parliamentary system with a one-chambered parliament, the Cenian Assembly, which has 225 representatives in it; the Prime Minister is the head of government, while a ceremonial President is the head of state. More locally, Ceni is divided into 14 districts, which serve to administer most of the government's services to the people and giving them local control, with a Chief Minister heading the government in each district; most districts have a District Council of either 7 or 9 councilpersons, headed by the Chief Minister. The Cenian people love their elections, with more than 80% turnout most times. Economically, Ceni has a large financial sector along with large pharmaceutical, high-tech, education, real estate sectors, and renewable energy sector. Ceni has a large GDP due to its proximity to Eura and the Euran economy and also a large GDP per capita, one of the largest in the region. Cenians enjoy a high standard of living as well as a large social welfare net and free education, courtesy of a Scandinavian-style liberal government.

MANAGERIAL STAFF
Manager: Lysander Ying Uing

Assistant Manager: Peter Wiggin

GOALKEEPERS

1 - Xavier Troubador - Fadron Flight 100 Caps, 30 Years Old
The starting goalkeeper continues to be the man who just reached his 100th cap and seems likely to push for some more. This seems likely to also be his last campaign in goal, and hopefully like many others it sees him out in a World Cup.

12 - Jillian Montague - Real Atlantea 2 Caps, 23 Years Old

24 - Jacob Jingleheimer-Smitt - Blacklake Blues 3 Caps, 19 Years Old
The heir apparent to the goalie spot is young Jinglheimer-Smitt who seems likely to be the next Tad Montague and could be the shot stopper that propels the Knights back to their days of defensive glory, and their great qualifying campaigns that saw hardly a goal cross into the net.

DEFENDERS

2 - LB, Alex Turniquette - X Island Marauders 9 Caps, 21 Years Old
The youngest starter on the team is the speedy left back who has shown a proclivity to get forward. What he lacks in actual experience he tends to make up for in speed and he has also been seen to get beat on some rather dumb plays, and also tends to commit stupid fouls.

3 - CB, Andrew Chesnut - Los Riosa Monstas 113 Caps, 3 Goals, 30 Years OldCaptain
He said he would be back for one more campaign and the Los Riosa and national team skipper seems ready to push for his first ever world cup game and really seems ready to push the team to be the very best.

4 - CB, Jefferson Lafitte - 1093 Club de Atlantea 50 Caps, 1 Goals, 28 Years Old
On one side of the centerback pairing is Lafitte who has been a strong player for the past three seasons but seems likely to miss out to the younger duo once his partner Andrew Chesnut retires.

5 - RB, Alexander Kaiba - Real Atlantea 24 Caps, 23 Years Old
The right sided fullback is a speedster in Alexander Kaiba. He can also move forward to the wing if necessary as he mostly plays a more wingback position for Atlantea. He can do pretty much everything on the ball and has a knack for being a part of the attack.

14- Kanary Halifax - Bayern Phoenix 2 Caps, 22 Years Old
The new bench fullback option is the speedy player from Bayern and is a strong player for both sides of the ball and could also see some time at CDM or on the wing.

21 – Torsten Abigail – Tintown Terrapins 17 Caps, 24 Years Old
Torsten Abigail is the stronger of the two bench center backs and can be the main option to put the game to rest near the end.

23- Ford Cancun - Real Chinchinhua 9 Caps, 23 Years Old
The second center back option on the bench Ford is a more speed type center back, with the brains to snuff out the counter attack.

MIDFIELDERS

6 - Ensign Petersheim – New Capetown Falcons 36 Caps, 1 Goal, 24 Years Old
The defensive midfielder was really strong in the Copa and has shown why he is the new starter at CDM. He is a really good ball winner and also capable of moving the ball around the field and playing the right balls.

9- LM, Janson Jewsbury – Bayern-Algaer 17 Caps, 23 Years Old
The left footed winger has been a strong performer in the last few years and was one of the brightest spots in the Copa Rushmori. He plays in a way that is far different from his successor and he really knows how to get around defenders.

10- CAM, Enrique Fuegahita – Real Chinchinhua 52 Caps, 5 Goals, 24 Years Old
The attacking midfielder has been a strong focal point in the Purple Knights attack and the hope is he can continue to pull the strings that the Purple Knights need to win as many games as they possibly can and to get them back to the world cup.

11 - RM, Anton Vader - Hannah 60 Caps, 1 Goal, 29 Years Old
The right midfielder continues to be one of the most critical pieces to the Knights attack adding a lot going forward but also being essential in defense. He is a strong player and can do a lot to push the ball forward and can also get a lot of assists.

15 – Everett Champlain - Taeshan City Miners 2 Caps, 23 Years Old
One of the newest midfielders on the team Champlain has won multiple trophies with Taeshan City and has really pushed for a national team spot in the last few years. In his two appearances he has really shown why he deserved the starting spot and pushed to be in this position.

17- Elton Petersheim – Bayern-Algaer 36 Caps, 2 Goals 24 Years Old
Elton has continued to be one of the most important bench players and has seen almost as much time as his brother who actually starts. Now the problem is continuing to push although he seems unlikely to start fully for another year or so and he really could lose track of his dream of being a full time starter.

18 – Randall Abl Bakr - Tintown Terrapins 3 Caps, 17 Years Old
Randall is the youngest player on the roster and one of the newest people on the the team. He really continues to be one of the brightest spots in Taeshan and really could be an impact player for years to come for the national team.

20 – Tavon Greenshire- New Capetown Falcons - 15 Caps, 24 Years Old
Tavon Greenshire continues to be a strong bench option for the team and can play both wings. He can also play defensively if need be.

19 – Wilhelm Quinones - Yaton FC 16 Caps, 1 Goal 23 Years Old
The most attacking option on the bench Quinones is a real fast kid that can also push the team very well. He can put in a change of pace as well from the wings, and really could propel the team late in games.

23 – Alejandro Caracas - Atlantea Hurricanes 4 Caps, 24 Years Old
Caracas is a right footed player who can play on either wing and has some speed as well. He also has a noted ability from free kicks and has a very good long free kick to the head ability.

STRIKERS

7 - RS, Landon van Neymar – Blacklake Blues 96 Caps, 17 Goals, 30 Years Old
The speedster forward is likely in his last run at the World Cup and seems likely to work really hard for both his 100th cap, and for his first appearance in a world cup. He seems really likely to push the team, and the hope is that he can really work for some goals in his final campaign.

8 - LS, Miles Snavely – Cenial United (Ceni) 102 Caps, 67 Goals, 28 Years Old
The talisman for the Knights is the big target up top for the Knights and seems likely to push the team forward. It is a true shame that Snavely has yet to see the biggest stage at the world cup, but it seems more and more likely that come his last two or three campaigns he may yet see the promised land.

13 – Jon Hutch – Atlantea Hurricanes 14 Caps, 3 Goals, 26 Years Old
Jon Hutch is the bigger option on the bench and could be used to bully smaller teams late in games and to get another big man forward for headed balls. He can definitely score a goal, but whether or not he really gets many options with two solid starters is up to the management team.

16 – Gordie von Houten – Real Atlantea 18 Caps, 1 Goal, 27 Years Old
Gordie is the speedster on the bench and really could see some time to push other teams later in the game and pushing for some more goals. He may also be pushing to start in the next qualifiers and that would really be an interesting thing.

BACKGROUND

From it's founding, Aggrey-Fynn Land has been a soccer-crazed nation. Children run around playing soccer in their spare time. Weekends usually consist of people glued to their TVs or phones watching the domestic league. Fans follow their favorite teams religiously, and the best players are treated like gods. Despite soccer being the sport of choice for Aggrey-Fynn Landers, the national team is relatively inexperienced; the 65th Baptism of Fire was Aggrey-Fynn Land's first jaunt on the international stage. Despite a rocky start in the group stage, Aggrey-Fynn Land did very well at the tournament, going all the way to the finals. They finished second, losing a extremely close final to Solsteed Soltsteed, 3-2. The team is hoping to take some of their form and luck from the BoF into World Cup qualifying, where they hope to make their mark.

THE TEAM

All players and staff are Aggrey-Fynn Lander unless otherwise specified; All clubs are Aggrey-Fynn Lander unless otherwise specified.

Manager- Jerry Simmons- 64 years old
Lovingly nicknamed "The Grey Fox" by his players, Jerry has been playing the game since he was a boy. Due to his age, he has seen a lot of football and thus has many tactics and concepts he implements on his team. A successful run in the Baptism of Fire tournament has earned him the trust of the FA and the admiration of the fans, so he appears to have the job for the time being.

Jerry Simmons plays in a defensively minded 4-4-1-1 formation with a style modifier of -2. His aim is to play a slightly conservative game. The plan is not to preemptively attack, but to hold possession and build from the back. The team holds back until they can find a hole in the opponent's defense, and then ruthlessly exploit it.
Image

Assistant Manager- Donny Tremors- 31 years old
Donny is relatively young for a coach; some even still mistake him for a player! Don't let this fool you though, he has been Jerry's understudy for 6 years and has gained considerable knowledge about the game. When Jerry decides to retire, he has been tipped by some pundits to be his successor. He has a bit of a temper, and can go off on his players or the officials at any moment.

Right Back- Quintavius Tracy #14 - 24 years old - Sauce Gods
Started playing soccer at the age of 16 and fell in love with the game. Like Tanner Grammy, he has an array of skill moves that he does not hesitate to use on his opponents. As a result of his skill, he plays with a bit of flair; it is not uncommon to see cheeky flicks and headers from him.

Center Back- Renato Milan #23 - 23 years old - Trill Boys
He got his start in soccer by designing his local club's kit as a boy. Eventually, he joined the team, learning quickly and becoming one of the best center backs in the country. He loves the limelight, and he escapades off the field often distract from his achievements on it. When he is focused on the game, his reckless personality turns into a collected one, and he can easily win a tackle for his team if needed.

Center Back- Justin Green #2- 28 years old - Clout Boys
He is small for a center back, and this made many people write him off early in his career. This just made the natural chip on his shoulder even bigger, which helped in his rise to the top. Notable for his pinpoint passes and energetic personality. Another asset is his stamina; he never seems to falter during games, even in difficult conditions.

Left Back- Gee Francisco #46- 33 years old - FC Bassalona
He was inspired by his dad to start playing. Coincidentally enough, he became a left back just like his dad. He uses his pace to run up and down the left side of the field and help out his teammates. Despite his age,
he does not appear to be slowing down; he has said that he hopes to still be able to play at this level for years to come.

Right Mid- Ronald Johnson #22- 24 years old - FC Samueltown
Known for his excellent through balls and easy-going nature, Ronald has been playing since his school days. A key component during forward plays, he slings the ball to the attackers and creates chances. He is a compassionate person, and regularly volunteers for charities in his spare time.

Center Mid- Jones Strong #4- 25 years old - Wavy Boys
Just like his name suggests, he is very strong. His physicality is a huge asset to the team, but he does tend to get more yellow and red cards because of it. He takes part in body building competitions in his spare time.

Center Mid- Roman Kendrick #38 (Captain)- 33 years old - FC Bassalona
Although he is one of the older people on the team, he is one of the most influential. A born leader, he planned to go into politics at first, until he realized that he could control people all the same on the pitch. A real creative outlet; not only can he connect with other players to make big things happen, he can also take the ball himself to create a chance.

Left Mid- R.J. Duval #16 - 28 years old - Climbers
R.J. likes to joke around off the pitch, but on it he is no joke. His deadly shot and pace makes him the X-Factor on the team. He was key to Climbers promotion campaign this year. In his spare time, he does stand up comedy.

Attacking Mid: Tanner Grammy #7- 22 years old - Club Euphoric
His play is very flashy. Since he has played almost all his life, he has mastered many ball tricks, making him even more difficult to account for. He is a singer-songwriter in his free time, and occasionally his songs are played on the radio.

Attacker: Gordon Whitlick #10- 20 years old - Golden Boys
He grew up very poor. This gave him a work ethic unmatched and led to him having lots of success in the game even at a young age. Despite his high skill right now, he still has lots of potential, and is tipped to move to a bigger club outside Aggrey-Fynn Land to continue developing.

Goalie: Jahseh Twins #1- 30 years old - Blues Club
He was a soccer star when he was young, but then he ended up working for an insurance firm. Two years ago, he got back into the game, and took his spot back as the country's premier keeper.
His ball skills leave something to be desired, but he makes up for it with his sure hands.

Substitutes and Reserves
Almost all of them are under the age of 20, as Simmons wishes to develop his youth talent. These are high potential players, who are tipped to break into the team sooner or later.

Subs

CB- #89 Jayquil Server- 19 yo - Park United

KITS

In preparation for World Cup Qualifying, the Aggrey-Fynn Landers have made some major changes to the kits. The two biggest ones are that 1) the shade of blue has been changed from Royal Blue to Cyan, and 2) the kits now say 'afl soccer' on the back instead of 'the land'.

Squadra Nazionale di Juvencus

Image

Last Campaign

Juvencus started its campaign all the way back to the Baptism of Fire's 64 installment. There, an inexperienced Juvencus team progressed from the group stages with 2 victories and a loss. The campaign started nicely with Juvencus beating the squad of Averyickan city with 1-2 after being 1-0 back, due to bad passing, the saviour of the day was Rodolfo Gallo however, who scored 2 headers in the last few minutes of the match to give Juvencus the edge. Next matchday was really bad, Juvencus kept their horrific passing on the next matchday against a pretty mighty Coldfield, putting Juvencus' campaign on jeopardy. Luckily, the next matchday against Verukt wasn't really hard for the squad, they beat Verukt 0-2 after putting it all in to get through, which worked. Vives' bicycle as well as Alberighi's free kick put Juvencus through, the odds though were against the squad as they were facing Mriin. Mriin would be the squad to eliminated Juvencus in the round of 16, beating the team 2-1 after Juvencus' horrific display in the first half. The second half would only be considered a consolation for the Juven squad as they managed to score one to leave the Baptism of Fire with their heads up.

The qualifying stages for the world cup would be described in 2 words. Well worked. A nice display from the Juvencus team throught most of the qualifiers, which started quite rocky with a goalless draw against 4th placed in the Baptism of Fire team Great Caledonia and North Hybernia, as well as a bare defeat to Anglatia with 3-4. The latter saw Juvencus pulling off the worst fire half of their history, hey were however able to get close to a comeback, twice. Once making it 2-3, before a Madeiros own goal put the Imperials up in front before a late consolation goal by Martell would reduce the margin to 1 once more. Next game saw Juvencus' first win in the qualifiers, a stunning 0-3 victory against then 98th ranked globally Tobiasia with the goals being scored by Martell, Gallo and Vives. Then the squads kept going with their heads up to Eastfield Lodge, making their first upset on the qualifiers, tying with the quite more experienced team 1-1. Despite Juvencus being back 1-0, they came back with a nice -although- cheeky Martell goal. A loss to Turori and a victory against Mattijana and Kaisaru followed till that fateful day in Torona, against Savojarna. In quite a controversial fashion, Savojarna were able to snatch a 0-1 victory and get ahead of Juvencus. Despite the low morale, Juvencus hosted Brenecia, making their second upset in the qualifiers, in quite possibly the best performed match in the whole qualifiers, with quite an aggressive play by both sides. The second half saw Juvencus starting well with a 3-0 victory against Great Caledonia and North Hybernia but 3 defeats followed, before snatching a victory against Mattijana and Kaisaru and tying with Savojarna away. The group stages ended with a defeat against Brenecia with 3-2. Juvencus was ranked 6th with 22 points and climbed from 220th globally all the way up to 101st.

A dissapointing Cup of Harmony campaign followed. Juvencues crashed out of the groups scoring only 1 goal in the whole campaign. The first matchday was against Turori, which is still haunting our national team today, a defeat with 2-0 meant that Juvencus had to win the next one against Tomikosan. The boys were confident, but were surprised really early on by Tomikosan, who won with 1-2. Last matchday was against Brigantii, which ended on an 1-0 defeat. A dissapointing end for a debuting Juvencus.

The team

The team's almost the same as last time, with the only changes made being Taddeo Bulgari as the basic XI goalkeeper, Amaury Félix taking Maximiliano Pissetti's spot, as the latter retired from international football. Last but not least, Albert's departure from the national team with his spot being taken by the young Santo Silvestri.

The tactics

Last time Juvencus approached the game with counter offensive play, but focusing a little bit more on defence. However August Toset's giving a more offensive approach to the game for Juvencus. The counter offensive play stays on, however, pressure's going to get much higher as a much more experienced and speedy squad is taking on.

The Football Association of Vilita is based at the Tivali-Ring Stadium (87,000 Seating Capacity) in the capital city of Alikki-Corra, Vilita and many National Team training sessions take place on the grounds of the Tivali-Ring. The Tivali-Ring complex was constructed as part of the Vilitan bid to host the World Cup 14 Cup of Harmony as a replacement to the former National Stadium in Lopinka that was destroyed during a regional conflict. 'The Ring' has since hosted countless international matches including high profile matches such as the World Cup 31 Final and the 40th Series 'B' Champions Cup Final.

Despite being based at the Ring, The Football Association of Vilita regularly schedule matches at arenas throughout Vilita, especially bigger matches as many of the stadiums that host Stellar Division and UICA competition matches have expanded far beyond the 87,000 capacity of the National Stadium at Tivali-Ring, which is used only for the National Team, and, domestically for the Vilitan Cup Final and Tropical Trophy matchups. The Football Association typically releases a stadium schedule when applicable.

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

Zelkki Milake [ - Eastal Lunar - ]
GK ( AGE: 24 CAPS: 8 :: GOALS:0 ) :: [ N/R ]
An aspiring Astronaut, Zelkki Milake's sporting career took added importance when he signed for Eastal Lunar FC at the age of 16 and immediately became the clubs starting goalkeeper for the Season 41 Declasse Division campaign. Milake kept a series of clean sheets that kept Eastal Lunar in the top half of the table for the majority of the season and still mathematically in the hunt for promotion entering the final matchday. The 1-0 victory over Akisa Surta combined with a Turoki Isle draw propelled Eastal Lunar into the top two and ensured that the young Milake would be thrust into action against some of the top players in the world as a Stellar Division goalkeeper for V-League Season 42. It wasn't at Eastal Lunar that Milake would make a name for himself, however. The young Vilitan goalkeeper opened his International Career with four-consecutive clean sheet performances and earned a place as a reserve player on the World Cup 67 World XI team. The performances for the National Team would earn Milake a transfer to Lonngeylin Coast after Eastal Lunar's Season 42 relegation. World Cup 68 Would be a coming out part for Milake who was in goal for the Jungle Cats as they lifted the World Cup Trophy for the first time in 48 editions with a 4-2 win over the Free Republics, making Milake one of the youngest starting netminders to win the World Cup. Milake's domestic career wouldn't go as smoothly, however, and after spending 2 seasons in the Declasse after Lonngeylin Coast's relegation, the World Cup winner returned to his roots, re-signing for high-flying Eastal Lunar in Season 46.

Playing Style

The Elgish national team plays with a strong emphasis on defense and a very conservative 5-4-1 Sweeper formation. In the majority of cases, the team opts to hold onto its structure when playing on defense rather than shift to adapt to the attack. The sweeper is the anchor point of the defense and ultimately who is responsible for positioning the defenders ahead of him. In the event of an opposing them attempting to strike hard and move quickly past the defensive line, it is his job to meet this threat. To prevent these situations from occurring, the defense stays back further than the average team might. The defense also rarely moves forward when Elgenstad is on the attack. The center defensive midfielder will venture fairly far forward to attempt to lock down opposing strikers and force turnovers in the attacking half of the field. The left and right midfielders do the same on their sides of the field. The center attacking mid and striker are the two true offensive players in the lineup. The striker generally stays as far up as possible even when Elgenstad is defending. The center attacking mid generally does not venture below the Elgish box in order to make himself available for attacking. Most Elgish offense comes from the counter-attack. Upon forcing a turnover, the ball will be fed to the left or right midfielder who will move the ball up the wing with the help of the center defensive midfielder. The ultimate goal is the move to ball up and in to the center attacking midfielder who will then give a cross or through ball to the striker. It is the center attacking mid's job to follow up on the striker's shots.

Turori World Cup 78 Squad: Away Games

The coaches will select the squad from the National Player pool. Players are listed below, grouped by position and sorted by projection 'Depth Chart' position where the top player listed is most likely to be named the first player selected for that position, and so on. Depth chart positions are determined by performance in pre-cup training sessions, as well as performance and average ratings in the Vilitan League competition and previous appearances for the National Team.

GOALKEEPERS:

[ 93 ] G.Q Disterfred II [ - Colonial Sile - ]
------- GK ( AGE: 26 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Young prospect Disterfred pushed Inura Forests into the top half of the Season 38 Declasse, earning player of the season honors at the club and earning recognition as a serious propsect for the National Team. Disterfred was a member of the AOCAF 41 Championship Winning side, but did not start any of the 7 matches en-route to the title. When head coach Nycflala Kater took a back seat early in the competition during AOCAF 42, however, Disterfred had his chance to play as Vilita & Turori earned their second consecutive AOCAF title. However, Disterfred's domestic career took a negative turn when Inura Forests were relegated out of the Vilitan League, prompting a cross-country transfer to the Kionao Locals in the Declasse division. Despite the strong leadership of Lita Adjei and good performances in the UICA Competitions, Kionao was unable to get promoted and eventually Disterfred would move to Turoki Isle in order to get a chance to play in the Stellar Division. Having played his whole career in Vilita, Disterfred was eventually convinced to return home to Turori when the chance to play at Cednia Beach AFC was presented, Disterfred being named the replacement for retiring Vilitan netminder Jaqe Planst.

After spending 5 seasons as apprentice to Nuakoi in Turoki, Deniibo switched to Lonngeylin City in an attempt to get regular first team action.

While Strike were unable to win any silverware, Edgeli fit straight into the squad as one of the top performing defenders in the entire league earning instant plaudits and recognition back in Turori.

[ 69 ] Yitizo Mpala'a [ - Lonngeylin Coast - ]
------- D C ( AGE: 18 CAPS: 0 :: GOALS::SR: 0 U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]

------- ATH ( AGE: 31 CAPS: :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Descendant of Season 4 Turorian Player of the Season and National team legend Cuolia Tuirma, Klaillal will work with Restiaa Mumamba to become the future "All-Around" player for the Turori National Team. Playing in a unique role, Tuirma will be expected to fill the role of being able to play every game, in every position - even Goalkeeper, if there are no subs left. Tuirma will certainly be starting as a substitute during their debut campaign in World Cup 62 but may get the chance to start against weaker opposition. After being brought up through the academy system at Kionao, Tuirma signed a professional contract with Colonial Sile in Vilita for Season 35, winning silverware in the first match, the Tropical Trophy triumph over Strike. Tuirma's stay in Sile didn't last long, however, coaxed back to the luxury of Arcticala Inlet to help in their Champions-Cup qualifying campaign of Season 38. Tuirma returned to Turori during Season 44 as a member of Mliona-Lpaka AFC

------- AM C ( AGE: 28 CAPS: :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Kulkkiia was developed at the Cednia Beach Academy having been highly scouted and recruited by teams throughout Turori and even Vilita. After the Turori Eels failure to qualify for World Cup 64, Kulkkiia became the subject of media attention questioning whether the aging crop of players should make way for younger players like Kulkkiia in the Esportiva-hosted Cup of Harmony for World Cup 64. Kulkkiia added his name to the long line of major transfers involving Cednia Beach after being transferred to SC Montfort in the Licentian Isles prior to Season 42

[ ] Kigaoua Oalalka [ - Mliona-Lpaka AFC - ]
------- M RC ( AGE: 25 CAPS: :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]
Oalalka never could get settled down in Vilita, taking trial runs at clubs such as the Turoki Tide, Inland Peaks and Mavaloiao before switching gears and looking at international transfer options. Eventually however, after 4 international seasons, Oalalka landed in Lonngeylin at Strike FC. Serving a bit-part role, the young Turorian would make the switch across town to Lonngeylin City to get regular playing time.

Altariiz was named Mliona-Lpaka's player of the season for 39 & 40 in addition to being named Turorian Player of the Season during Season 40 after leading MLiona-Lpaka to the Vilitan Cup title.

[ ] Enluta Makakio [ - Jungle Strike FC - ]
------- F C ( AGE: 26 CAPS: :: GOALS::SR: U21: REG: ) :: [ N/R ]

San José Guayabal (SJG) National Team

Image

Spiel

Many people, especially those in charge of the Guayabalense Football Federation have seen that pretty much every U-21 process has been mediocre, considering that there’s a considerable amount of players aging in the Senior National Team and also in the Liga Premier, it was obvious that something must have been done before San José Guayabal enters in a severe shortage of players at U-21 level that could be potentially introduced for the Senior National Team, that’s why the members of the Federation, among certain social organisations and government support created a new plan in order to rejuvenate the Guayabalense football, a “serious” attempt in order to bring a so needed organisation to youth football, which has been abandoned for too many years without renovation of the current system, implemented since the end of World Cup 70. How the plan works? Has seven stages of development and it’s mainly a long-term plan focused right now in the U-21 team in a carefully calculated attempt to reach deeper stages of the Di Bradini Cup and supply the National Team; for this World Cup Qualifier, a completely new base of players will be used, since a significant part of the previous players fled the country or were killed after the several attacks they suffered by losing the World Cup 77 final.

The main bet of this new team will be based in four principal goals:

• Displaying a bit of the talent that the Liga Premier possesses, in order to export this players in a future.
• To achieve at least a Round of 16 appearance.
• Forge a new generation of players that may supply the generational exchange successfully.
• Experimentation of new game philosophies for the upcoming years.

In order to achieve those goals, the new players were trained heavily during three months in various game aspects, with the finality of having a handful base of players ready for different scenarios that may occur in a football match, aspects such as physical readiness, collective game, passing intelligence and straightforward attack were fundamental in the training. According to many pundits in football, they consider that this U-21 team has all the elements needed to be the best U-21 side that San José Guayabal ever had (It’s important to consider that San José Guayabal hasn’t a brilliant history of youth football), since the amount of preparation, disposition and discipline of the players in strategic aspects has been notorious, fans have similar expectations with this team and they expect to not be disappointed with this group of players.

The fruits of said preparatives were good, since the National Team managed to do a really decent participation in the last Di Bradini Cup, held in Valanora. This time, after the chaos that happened in the Senior National Team after being defeated by Vilita by a heartbreaking goal at the added time, Óscar Agramonte is now on charge of the national team, now without many important players, even without Rodolfo Zelaya, who is now retired from any footballing activity because of a rant at the end of the World Cup Final game, where he said that "The final game has been the biggest humiliation of his life, that playing football made him waste his time" causing the fans to consider Zelaya as a "mercenary" and being now a public enemy of Guayabalense football fans rather than the idol that he used to be. To add more oil to the situation, now he plays with CD FAS and has suffered numerous life-threatening attacks at the now internationally-marginalized Liga Premier, due to a League-wide decision of stop participating abroad until they manage to rebuild the league without any foreigner there, and also working more to stop being the league that always loses international finals and then make San José Guayabal leave the reputation of the "eternal runner-up."

Game Style Description: As one of the main strongholds of the strategic plan released by the Guayabalense Football Federation in order to give more “seriousness” to youth football, also their idea of creating a only game philosophy to be indoctrinated on the youth football teams that compose from U-15 to Senior National Team, the philosophy of game displayed for the U-21 “Selecta” might be slightly conservative than other times, inclining to be balanced among all the options, so the new manager of the Senior National Team and the youth football National Teams might decide what’s best to use in the new philosophy that will be established. This is the first time that a line of four defenders will be used, featuring two central backs whose characteristics are: Good aerial game, strong physique presence and a good vision to generate a transition to the midfield. And two defenders on both wings in order to generate offensive plays or having enough projection to run through the wing or giving a large cross at the right moment, that’s why the focus was mainly on having fast defenders on the wings that may act as support of the central backs when facing fast players or hard to mark. While on the midfield, mart players with a good passing vision were took to cover the different positions, players whose characteristics are: Fast, aggressive, good passers and also having an outstanding physical condition. On the midfield-offence transition zone, there are two wingers who have speed and are pretty technical when facing the rival’s defence and the cherry on the cake, two strikers, the best we have abroad, with good chemistry between them (Both played 4 years together in the same academy) and straightforward when it comes to decide what to do.

The idea that Óscar Agramonte, manager of this U-21 team is to compete with a slightly less offensive team than the usual Guayabalense average, a team that tends to be balanced most of the time, featuring four defenders (two central backs and two wing-backs or carrileros as they are known in the Guayabalense argot) two midfielders (one as organizer and one as midfield destroyer), two wingers that might cooperate in game creation, false strikers or even switch positions with the strikers when those go back as wingers and the forwards that mostly seek to face the rival and cause a yellow card or a foul near the area, in order to have a set piece and sneak a surprise when unexpected, as said before, the strikers might change position with the wingers at undefined moments of the game in order to contribute to the surprise factor. It’s noticeable a quite big zone of the field that might be abandoned by the team, the middle of the pitch in the attacking zone, but the midfield and wingers can group at certain moments and make a 4-4-2 in order to cover that lone space in the pitch. Agramonte is a manager known for enjoying the surprise factor, more than the average, he dedicates a big portion of his time on trainings preparing ideas that might be weird but effective, as he did back with CD Barrio El Niño when he got two straight Liga Premier titles.

The Players

Goalkeepers

N° Name Team Age

#1 Ricardo Costa CD FAS Image 20
#12 Heriberto Álvarez Turín FC Image 19
#25 Juan Baros CD Las Ánimas Image 18

Ricardo Costa tends to be really flamboyant in terms of confidence, something that put him at the spotlight when he was at CSD Catamarca, being important for them when they got promoted and almost got into Globe Cup at the end of their first season in top flight, being 1.96 meters tall gives confidence at aerial game defence. Apart of Costa, Heriberto Álvarez and his motivating attitude together with a selfish but loyal Juan Baros make a great backup for Agramonte plans in case Costa fails to defend the goal well or he injures since Álvarez can help at saving low shots and Baros might have the attitude to act as playmaker when in goal, this is why the manager can’t complain of having in this trio, a complete set of styles and skills to his disposition whenever he needs. In regards of future prospects, Costa is heavily considered by many as the successor of Abraham Terrazas, while Álvarez and Baros might get promoted to be the second goalkeeper of their respective teams and in a future why not seeing them as starting goalkeepers of their teams or even in the national team, especially Baros which seems to be a keeper who dares to risk at any moment, something that talks a lot about his confidence.

Defenders

N° Name Team Age Position

#2 Fabián González CD Barrio El Niño Image 21 LWB
#13 Yuri Cherkasov FK Rostov Image 20 LB
#3 Julio Navas Yucuaiquín FC Image 18 CB
#14 Adán Canales Liberty Rodríguez Image 21 CB
#4 Armando Coronel Turín FC Image 21 CB
#16 Carlos Antunes Yucuaiquín FC Image 19 CB
#17 Jesús Santiago CSD Ciclón del Golfo Image 20 CB
#5 Ismael Maroto FC Real Destroyer Image 19 RWB
#18 Antonio Acosta CSD Catamarca Image 18 RW

A reliable left back winger like Fabián González provides security and efficiency when generating chances on the left side, González is one of the fastest players in the whole team and maybe the fourth fastest in Liga Premier, Barrio El Niño has been an excellent place for him, since he has demonstrated his skills on getting out of troubles in defence and generating opportunities to go up front, while Ismael Maroto, a showman, can be a real pain when he commits a mistake in one of those attempts to do a transition with style, he has been warned by his manager in Real Destroyer, he hasn’t changed at all his attitude but that won’t be a problem for the group. On the central zone, we have a reliable defender such as Julio Navas and an arrogant like Armando Coronel, despite the differences between them, they do a good couple since they show confidence when playing, both have been playing since U-17 and they know each other well, Navas is one of the idols of Yucuaiquín despite being so youth due to his identification with the institution and also being a supporter of said club since he had use of reason, while Coronel and his arrogance and perfectionism isn’t bad at all, since he might try to do his best on the field in order to take the spotlights and grab some attention from media, something that he loves. Among the subs, Adán Canales is one of the most trusted and probable to play some games as starter, don’t be surprised that he could grab a spot on the Senior National Team sometime, since he has a huge sense of determination and is passionate on what he does.

Midfielders

N° Name Team Age Position

#6 Óscar Chávez CSD Catamarca Image 17 CM
#19 Gérman Álvarez CSD Ciclón del Golfo Image 20 CM
#20 Gilberto Montijo Atlético SJG Image 18 CM
#7 Ramón Ospina Alianza FC Image 18 CM
#21 Jorge Elizondo CSD Catamarca Image 19 CM
#8 Fabio Ochoa Atlético SJG Image 21 AL
#22 René Meneses Atlético SJG Image 20 AL
#9 Eliseo Salomón CD Las Ánimas Image 21 AR
#23 Álvaro Velásquez Turín FC Image 18 AR

Óscar Chávez is a particular midfield destroyer, maybe one of those extremely rare, a destroyer who tends to act stylish but chill when acting, he has what is needed for a destroyer despite being the youngest of the team, with only 17 years old, but somehow, a starter in CSD Catamarca, something that press, pundits and fans admire of him is his timing, precise sweeping, despite he tends to go too strong and it’s often yellow carded or even red carded, but those are rare occasions; his partner, Daniel Ospina is a temperamental player but a nice play fabricator with a good sense of ubication, he’s slowly consolidating himself in Alianza FC and already won two Campeonato Esportiva and has a lot of experience in international competitions, Ospina will be in the Senior NT sometime and that’s maybe granted. In the wings, an eccentric Fabio Ochoa on the left, a player who is gifted according to his manager in Atlético San José Guayabal, a team that has slowly consolidated in the Liga Premier, Ochoa has a superb technique to dribble and tends to face the rivals and get into the area using dribbles and more technical skills that he decided to create himself when he played futsal, he might have some National Team future with Eliseo Salomón, his right wing partner, an ambitious par excellence and a really brave player, he tends to join with the forwards to attack and score goals for himself, that is quite an issue since he’s pretty individualist to play, but he solves things normally. As substitutes, Jorge Elizondo, an authentic flamboyant character together with René Meneses and his introverted personality are likely to be first choice at the moment of replacing a player.

Forwards

N° Name Team Age Position

#10 Marco Palacios Alianza FC Image 21 LF
#24 Fernando Gutiérrez Cóndor Valladares FC Image 20 LF
#11 Kevin Santos Alianza FC Image 20 RF Captain
#25 Rodrigo Madrid Atlético Militar Marte Image 21 RF

We reach the offence and we have the captain, a leader by nature and called to be in the national team in two or three years, already the best youth prospect together with Teitur Vaarisiemi, we talk of Kevin Santos, product of Turín FC youth and already exported to Alianza FC, Santos is a natural striker with a good ability with free kicks, he’s fast and skilled and that’s why hopes rely on him in this squad, Santos might be in front of his best opportunity to display his quality and convince more fans that he will be one of the next “big things” in San José Guayabal. Marco Palacios, a grafter and a showman, he loves to score goals with fashion, no matter he would risk to do a monumental fail, he always aims to score a beautiful goal, hence he works better giving assists to other strikers since chances to score something beautiful aren’t frequent, he jumped to Alianza FC and ensure to the "Albos" the most lethal duo at the front. As substitutes, Fernando Gutiérrez, a really arrogant character but decided to perseverate might cover Palacios when needed and an ambitious Rodrigo Madrid, a guy who aims to get into the starters might have it difficult behind the shade of Kevin Santos, but who knows he outperforms Santos?

Line-up

NOTE FOR HOSTS:
Please ignore the +1 modifier thing on my roster, I'm busy to do another one right now. The official modifier of La Selecta for the tournament is the traditional +2.35

The Manager

Oscar Agramonte: Unpredictable and chill are two characteristics that describe Agramonte, he hasn’t an impressive resume as manager but those two titles achieved with Barrio El Niño and being developer of Barrio El Niño youth football teams can talk for themselves, he forged a philosophy on his teams that prefers to be surprising and methodical when playing instead of being predictable or having a boring game, he emphasizes on physical resistance and ensuring that players are acting as a whole instead of having separated blocks all the game, so, that’s why sometimes we can see a defender or two being near the midfield in order to keep the team playing offensively or see the defenders near the box when it’s important to keep the advantage in the score, in fact, he might use any resource within legality in order to win or at least tie, that’s why he often tells his players to either sweep to take the ball even in the edge of the box of the rival team as a way of high-pressing or making the players to waste time to preserve the advantage, Agramonte is an old foe in youth football, back when he had Barrio El Niño, the Swordsmen won two youth tournaments in sixth level and other two times the reserves championship (U-21), he’s confident that he can demonstrate that the success he had in Barrio El Niño wasn’t a mere luck thing.

Introduction

The Constitutional Monarchy of San José Guayabal, or also known as Guayabal or simply called SJG is a culturally diverse nation, inhabited by at least thirty ethnic minority groups and five other major ethnic groups, forming a bond of brotherhood between each group offering him to the nation a strong reputation of unity and brotherhood even in the most difficult moments. A former colonizers ancestral heritage and a mixture of innovation and creativity have shown positive effects in this vibrant nation located in the southernmost corner of Esportiva.

Travel

On transport and within San Jose Guayabal, we can find many alternatives among these is a rental car, join a tour group to use a minibus, taxi, public bus system, the private mass transportation, the underground (Available in cities over 500,000 inhabitants com) the bullets and domestic flights trains provide easy connectivity between one point and another in the nation, but can mention popular media, low cost and short runs as the tuc tuc and the colloquially called "coaster" (small minibus whose route is fast but to some extent uncomfortable due to the high volume of music and the sound of their mufflers). As mentioned, the transport between different parts of the nation is very easy, even people facilitate travel through the "ride" method, something often practiced by people who made a short trip and bear a considerable burden in order to avoid walk with overload.

Transportation is a very fast method SJG if done especially between cities separated by many kilometers because there is no speed limit on highways, although it is recommended to drive at no more than 140 kilometers per hour.

It’s important to say that you should drive defensively in the roads, especially in the interstate highways, due to the very aggressive driving style of Guayabalenses in general, drive always at your right side and carry an extinguisher, reposition tires and use always your seatbelt, failure to do this might cause you high fines with the police, the fines should be paid at the local police department, in any bank or pharmacy under the “EasyPay” system which can be found in almost every town in the nation.

Culture & Society

Religion

San José Guayabal is a predominantly religious nation since ancient times, presenting a wide variety of thoughts about divinity.

The Catholic branch of Christianity was the most professed in San José Guayabal to the arrival of the ethnic groups of Nordic origin like the Swedes and Finns who are predominantly Protestant, their influence on the people was so great that within two decades (1840- 1860) the percentage of Catholics dropped from 86% to 7%, and affiliation to the Church of Saint Joseph (National Church) dramatically increased to 89% of the population said to practice religion mainly based on the three pillars that characterizes San José Guayabal populace as a whole: Unity, Brotherhood and Passion.

Language

Because being a multicultural nation, many languages are found in San Jose Guayabal, 31 to be precise, of which only five are relevant in their social use and only two are used by the government. At least a basic knowledge of Spanish language is more than useful in our nation but not essential, because 68% of the population has declared Spanish as their first language and 85% admit to have sufficient knowledge of the language. There are also four more languages in which the population has knowledge such as English (spoken by 70% of the population, 12% as their mother tongue), Swedish (spoken by 35% of the population, 4% as mother tongue), Russian (spoken by 26% of the population, 7% as their mother tongue) and Finnish (spoken by 17% of the population, 3% as their mother tongue).

The people of San Jose Guayabal are known regionally for the effort they made to learn new languages, speaking on average three to four languages at an appropriate level for communications with different people, according to them this is essential because knowledge is acquired different cultures and helps to relate to more people in The Multiverse.

Food & Etiquette

Eating habits in SJG tends to be foods with moderate calories, varying per region, being mainly meat and some salads that are normally accompaniment to the main course. Where it normally waits for all those who eat at the same table finish their food, then they start to eat all at the same time the main course, as tradition, a toast is made by anyone at the table. It is considered impolite to leave food residue on dishes and should you be invited to a house to eat or social activities, is always appropriate offer to wash the dishes and glasses where you ate, this being a gesture of good education and thanks to the host (not always the person that is offered is done, is considered as a simple act of appreciation.)

The typical dish par excellence of San José Guayabal are Pupusas, is a food made from mass shaped like circle, stuffed inside with fried beans, cheese, pork rind, squash, blackberry. This is often accompanied by vegetable tanning and ketchup.
Other main courses are: Tray (Composed of roast beef with barbecue, rice, salad, soup and fries), Quesadillas, Coastal Chops (Cutlet, bathed with barbecue and served with shrimp), Croquettes (breaded meat, accompanied with piece of dough and rice) and Spaghetti. Among the salads are: Paisa salad (lettuce, avocado, omelet, egg, chicken, bacon and corn chips) and the “Mil Cumbres” salad (lettuce, tortilla croutons, chicken, tomato, corn and ranch dressing).

Football Culture

Passion for football in San José Guayabal is usual, the fanbase across the nation is huge and the level of involvement of citizens among a professional, semi-pro or amateur teams is really high, according to a census made in 2211, people tends to designate at least five hours per week to watch football or get involved into football-related activities, especially with youth development, which has taken strength across the nation. No matter the location, you’ll always find a football pitch in San José Guayabal that might be close to your home, to the point of having the same presence than other establishments such as schools or libraries, it’s some sort of religion for some people, hence Guayabalenses can be exasperated quickly if you talk badly about Guayabalense football overall, or if you attack their preferred team in the wrong moment.

Discuss and be contrary to any Guayabalense about football in public is something that will not be very pleasant, especially if the national team is playing. In such cases, groups are formed and the riots start against the supporters of another nation, then this gives origin to the riots. Something forbidden by the laws of behavior in stadiums, as if they are the perpetrators, be of any nationality, the price to pay is high, from fines of C$1,000 Coronas (NS $ 2,000) up to three months in jail, or if they occur fatalities.

It is recommended to refrain from displays of hatred and mockery against the home crowd, in order to avoid problems of any kind during your stay, note that stadiums are not allowed to enter water bottles, umbrellas, sharps, flagpoles or pencils. You can enter flares, banners and musical instruments with previous notice to the police (if you are from an organized “ultra” or "hooligan firm"), it is important to mention that you can find different food at the stadium, from ice cream to banquets of gourmet food, any kind of drink is available from the typical and highly alcoholic “Chaparro” to typical beers or wines.

RP permissions: Your RP permissions are mine, short of death and career-ending injuries. If I can send off your players, you can send off mine. If your players can’t be booked, neither can mine. If I can rain a hail of meteors down on the city, so can you. Just make it funny/entertaining, if you don’t mind. ;)

Note: Soltsteedish surnames follow RL Netherlands Dutch conventions on surname prefixes: they aren’t capitalised when used in combination with first names or initials, but are capitalised in all other situations. For example, “Carle de Marcht” is correct, while “Carle De Marcht” is not; however, when the given name is not used, “De Marcht” is proper, while “de Marcht” is not.

The default Soltsteedish strategy can be summed up in one phrase: “the best offence is a good defence”. The Stallions play a highly opportunistic offence, lying in wait for an opportunity rather than charging head-on. Possession is mostly confined to the midfield, keeping the ball comfortably away from Emmet Ferdinand’s goal and close enough to Soltsteed’s lone striker Emma Gryndhout for her to attack when necessary. Soltsteed prefer to play a passing game in possession, while attempting to pry the ball away from the opposition when not, either by intercepting a pass or tackling players. The Stallions will attempt to frustrate and infuriate the opposition through tactics of time wasting, bus parking and—in the most desperate of circumstances—dirty play if necessary to achieve the desired result and are unashamed of drawing games and advancing via penalty shoot-outs.

Staffing

Manager: Gavin Comi; 58
After the departure of Curtis Steeling to Super-Llamaland after the Ethanian national team reached the World Cup for the first time in the team's history, the FAE (Football Association of Ethane) rushed in an interim manager for the Campionato Esportiva before hunting for the next long-term manager for the national team. Unlike some other nations who look abroad for managers, the FAE decided to turn their heads to the Explosive League for those with managing credentials. They very quickly poached Gavin Comi from Loconstead United.

Gavin Comi, as manager of Loconstead United, has delivered the team to 3 third placed finishes in the league, and the season before last a 1st place finish, making him currently the most consistent manager in the Ethanian league. Across 114 of his many league games as manager of Loconstead United he has racked up some fairly decent stats. He has tallied up 55 wins and 33 draws to only 26 losses, equating to a win percentage of 48.25% - the highest in the league. This gives him a 1.74 points-per-game record. As manager, Comi has also inspired his team to score 228 goals (an average of exactly 2 goals per game - also the highest in the league), providing him with a positive goal differential of 72. This stats certainly make him qualified for leading a national team, as he has plenty of successful experience on the domestic front in Ethane.

However, his style completely contrasts the style that Ethane has played over the past few cycles, and drastic change could upset the bond that has formed in the national team. The drastic change in tactics Comi has brought with him has upset some and led to some players becoming disgruntled with the manager, which could play a significant factor in results this World Cup.

Assistant Manager: Alvin Bailey; 50
The departure of Gavin Comi from Loconstead United also led his managerial assistant - Alvin Bailey - to leave the club. He was very soon picked up by Comi on the national team to be his assistant manager, shifting the previous assistant manager out of his job. Bailey and Comi cooperate together well, and so the Red Kites do have a formidable partnership leading them. The only question is whether they can maintain the support of the players (hint: nope).

Offensive Coach: Steven Carlsting
Carlsting has kept his job during the transition from 1 managerial administration to another, but the question is will he be able to adapt his tactical offensive style to the new style implemented by the new manager, and adapt to the increased pressure that will be on him from this tactical change?

Defensive Coach: Adam Hurnley
Hurnley has also stayed on from Steeling's to Comi's managership, but will he be content in his more limited role now the focus is more on attack rather than defence?

Goalkeeper Coach: Jacob Reeses
Reeses replaces the previous goalkeeper coach for Ethane, having been brought in by Comi because of their relationship. But how will Comi's reputation affect his coaching? And what effect will all of these appointments by Comi have on the unity of the team?

Physio: Keith Lambeth
Medic: Kerry Hanners
You have to question whether it really matters who is in these positions? But could the way the manager treats them bring controversy?

The Players

The Red Kites finally made the World Cup in the 77th edition of the tournament, but Steeling - the manager who led the team during the 4-world-cup journey to get there - quickly departed for Super-Llamaland. The team once again disappointed in the Campionato Esportiva (but this isn't a surprise, they never try as hard there) under the interim manager (we always have an excuse), and so a new manager was rushed in. Comi's arrival and all his appointments with him brought controversy, especially in his style of play, but there has been very little change in the makeup of the team on the player-side, apart from bolstering some positions and removing players from other positions. Yet, many of the players have become disgruntled with Comi because of his sweeping changes. Can he keep the team united, or will the team fall apart at the most crucial of moments?

Tactics

Comi, the new manager, has brought with him a set of policies drastically different from Curtis Steeling - the predecessor of Comi. The aim of Comi's tactics is to flood the opposition with the strikers and the attacking midfielders, hammering their defence until it breaks with a combination of longer and shorter shots. The midfielders will provide a supportive role in this formation and become the playmakers in this game of attack. There is a focus put attacks through the centre, but the team does also utilise winged attacks fairly regularly as well. The defence, albeit limited in size, tends to hang back other than on set pieces, providing a wall between the opposition and the goal. They tend to be fairly pacey, in order to counter any counter attacks.

Stadium

King Edward IV Stadium
Image

The stadium is situated in New Sarum, the capital of Ethane. It can hold 60,000 people in the setup as shown above, and will be used for all home games. The stadium can be accessed for fans from shuttle buses from the airport, and locations around the city. Plenty of accommodation has been set aside for travelling fans, and will be able to be enquired about on line in the lead up to games, and at the airport upon arrival.

<drawk> If the entirety of the nation of Ethane was covered in a single cubic foot of Ethane on its surface, lighting it all on fire would cause a 5.44 megaton blast.

STAFF:
Manager: Azarai Robinson (OSR), 56
The successor to Andreas Jansen, many believed the SFA pulled off quite a coup with the former Osarius full back and national team manager Azarai Robinson being named the new Semarland manager. The 56 year old won two of his three AOCAFs and the SFA are hoping he can translate that form and his experience into a solid World Cup campaign - with perhaps, this being the tournament where the Semars advance the group stage. Like predecessor Jansen in the previous World Cup, Robinson has named a strong squad and has some high profile names to his coaching team. The likes of Reiss Ryerson, Roque Urbina and Francesco Barzagalione all have Osarius national team experience and most of the coaches have been involved in coaching one way or another at an elite level. One thing is clear though - this is a new era, and Semarland fans are excited to see what the Osarian can bring.

Assistant manager: Reiss Ryerson (OSR), 73
73 years old with the voice of a megaphone, former Osarius centre-back Reiss Ryerson was named as Azarai Robinson's assistant which again, was quite a shock to Semar fans. Despite his age he is still more than able to play a big part in Robinson's backroom team. As well as that he is a very confident man, which could prove unnerving for opposition teams. Robinson did well to convince him to join him again, as Ryerson was a target of many domestic clubs to become their new manager. Whether Ryerson will ever get that chance is unknown, but what's for certain is that he will give his all in using his experience to assist Semarland as they look to do better than before this World Cup.

First team coaches: Yohan Martinsson, 49 and Jermaine Latibeaudiere, 36
49 year old Yohan Martinsson was appointed first team coach at the 63rd Cup of Harmony to replace the outgoing Sven Niemstad. Initially, he was working alongside Mako Albrechtsen, retained from the previous backroom staff but after his departure for a couple of months he was the sole general coach in Andreas Jansen's team. Experienced for his age, for the past twenty-two years Martinsson has been working as a coach with excellent all-round abilities. His assistant is 36 year old former Krsthaven midfielder Jermaine Latibeaudiere. A good friend of previous manager Andreas Jansen, Latibeaudiere, or "Lats" as he as affectionately known as by the players, was a central midfielder in his playing days. At 17 he unfortunately suffered a serious injury and had to retire four years later but spent eight years working as Krsthaven's first team coach. He has been a member of the Semar coaching team since World Cup 74, and has been retained by Azarai Robinson with Martinsson.

Speciality coaches: David Ustari (OSR), 60 (Goalkeeping), Martin Datheim, 51 (Goalkeeping, part-time), Miguel Rios (OSR), 58 (Defensive), Raquade Wilson-Martin, 37 (Defensive, part-time), Gilverto Cuellar (OSR), 55 (Technical), Francesco Villa (OSR), 68 (Technical), Roque Urbina (OSR), 57 (Attacking), Francesco Barzaglione (OSR), 65 (Attacking)
Robinson brought in four new speciality coaches plus kept on previous goalkeeping coach Martin Datheim on a part-time basis, alongide former U19 defensive coach Raquade Wilson-Martin. Former Hastmead Diamante goalkeeper Ustari is a close friend of Robinson, who represented Oarius twice at the 6th Summer Olympics and World Cup 58. Although he didn't have as much international experience as Martin Datheim, Ustari was a terrific shot stopper in his playing days and both goalkeepers will be of great benefit for the Semar goalkeepers. As he is employed on a part-time basis, Datheim will only coach the team during the World Cup qualifiers. Former Firewood City right back Rios was previously employed as a scout for the Osarian national team but will provide excellent coaching to the team's full backs. Raquade Wilson-Martin has had brief top flight experience but has had some terrific work with Semar youngsters, helping nurture the likes of Amani Chimbonda before.

Technically, they will be assisted by former Hastmead Diamante winger Gilberto Cuellar, a player renowned for his supreme first touch, as well as former Hastmead attacking midfielder Francesco Villa - the oldest member of the coaching team aged 68. Offensive wise, some fans were said to be disappointed that Robinson wasn't able to persuade Rene Wilson-Ouaddou to work with them but they are very lucky to have Roque Urbina. A talented winger in his playing career, he will provide a great tutor for the likes of upcoming wingers Dequane Saint Etienne and Tre Mukondo. In terms of strikers, former Firewood City striker Franceso Barzaglione will work primarly with the strikers. Barzaglione didn't have as much as national team experience as Urbina but was still a talented striker whose experience again will be useful for the set of Semarland strikers called up by Robinson. Former attacking coach Jerome Taylor is currently considering the offer of working on a part time basis during qualifying like Raquade Wilson-Martin, but has currently rejoined the FC Kolberg setup.

Tactical coaches: Yohannas Rasmussen, 43 and Jamal Martinsson, 38
43 year old Yohannas Rasmussen is a more familiar name to most, having covered for Johan Nikkelsen in World Cup 73 who took paternal leave. Statistically, Rasmussen did a better job having taken over during the second half of qualifying and ensuring Semarland got to the finals. He will be assisted by 38 year old Jamal Martinsson - who, the SFA admitted was not the original candidate for a second tactical coach after Kangemark Sport's Marcus Haider rejected the role. There is no doubt that Martinsson is a tactical genius though, having worked with Krsthaven's U21s before working with FC Kolberg's first team. The duo will be looking to adapt to the style of play Robinson & Ryerson are expected to use - which is most likely to be the famous "Osarian 4-3-3."

Fitness coaches: Rasmus Karlsen, 49 (Lead), Sylvester Mackay (OSR), 41 (Fitness), Onyekachi Echemandu (OSR), 40 (Strength & Conditioning)
Physiotherapists: Dr. Lars Mikkelsen-Schone, 50 (Head), Mats Borg, 52, Segun Akinola, 33, Dr. Ysabel Miranda (OSR), 50
Doctors: Dr. Stefan Tramsø, 57 (Head), Dr. Åke Ulfsson, 49, Dr. Algernon Irvine (OSR), 54, Dr. Kelechi Chukwueze (DSM), 35
Psychologists: Erika Larsen, 34, Devontae Mikael Newells, 25, Karin Ejiofor (OSR), 39
49 year old Rasmus Karlsen is a long serving member of the Semarland coaching staff, having worked way back with Henrik Jensen but his experience led to him being retained by Andreas Jansen and now by Azarai Robinson. Jacob Denmark and Karmelo Ashton-Brown have both moved on so Osarian duo Sylvester Mackay and Onyekachi Echemandu both replace them. However, the rest of the physiotherapists and doctors have remained under contract (again, with most of them being around since the Henrik Jensen era) but are boosted by the arrivals of Osarian duo Ysabel Miranda (physio) and Algernon Irvine (doctor), plus Dutch Semar Kelechi Chukwueze, with the Kemsterdam University graduate arriving after working with the Dutch Semar national team for the last four years. Three new psychologists have been brought in too, with those being Semar duo Erika Larsen and Devontae Mikael Newells, plus Osarian Karin Ejiofor.

Other staff:
Performance analysts: Tobias Mikkelsen, 38 (Lead), Rashaan Jackson (OSR), 32, Clement Monaghan (OSR), 35 and Blaise Jacobsen, 31

Starting Lineup, Formation, and Tactics:

Image

Valladares' usual formation is a 3-2-2-3 (or 3-4-3 for general reference), which can turn into either a very aggressive yet non-conventional 3-2-5 for attacking or a 5-4-1 (a 3-6-1, even) when the team feel the need to enter into a defensive mode. La Nacional will always be looking to attack and retain ball possession for as long as possible, trying to score many goals in the shortest possible time and mounting an insurmountable lead for the second half of the match when players from both teams start showing signs of fatigue. This squad mostly relies on the speed of both Abel Brücke and Angelo Farías on the wings both in attack and in defense modes, with defensive midfielders Jonathan Bosetti and Pedro Pedretti being able to retreat to the defensive line with ease whenever the team lose ball possession in order to form a line of 5 defenders, thus giving rival forwards a very hard time when trying to break through the Valladar defense. The 3 forwards are also very speedy and talented but most of all, dangerous: they can turn seemingly harmless crosses into goals, create chances and score goals out of nothing, and kill defenses with speed and lethal counterattacks.

Sarrbia WC78

Postby Sarrbia » Fri Jun 23, 2017 10:50 pm

The Tropical Republic of Sarrbia
National Association Football Team - World Cup 78

Image

Sarrbia is an island archipelago in southwestern meridian Rushmore, near New Sirain and the Whirl Islands. It is a tropical paradise known for its abundance of white-sand beaches, enormous palm trees, extremely attractive (and scantily-dressed) populace and nearly universal drug legalization. In fact, aside from tourism, commercial sale of hard drugs, psychedelics and narcotics is the leading industry in Sarrbia and people flock here from around Rushmore to "shop" the extensive variety of "merchandise". In the sporting world, Sarrbia is noted for its equal love of beach and association football, having hosted two editions of the Beach Cup in the past. Sarrbia reached a peak world ranking of #48 after miraculously qualifying for World Cup 56, but have since faded into relative obscurity. Please note that the Sarrbian squad is mixed male, female and alternative gender identities.

Basic Information

Headquarters: Wyypuli, Sarrbia
Ground: Arena Malluma Maŭra (50,000)
Colors: Pink, White, Gold
Nickname: The Palmettos
Demonym: The Sarrbian national anthem (objects/organizations), Here come The Sarrs (people)
Mascot: Sheila the Stoner Whale
Style Modifier: +4
Tactics: Sarrbia play "pretty" football, even to a fault. Partially because they are lazy, they prefer to string together lots of passes rather than do a bunch of running. Everything stays on the ground. Build out of the back. Sarrs are generally very skilled with their feet and always good for some individual flair with the ball, even if it doesn't lead to much.
Status: Puppet of Cosumar

Staff

Manager: Ezra Hardy (38)
Newly-hired Ezra Hardy is a risky appointment by the FAS (Futbalo Asocio Sarrbi), who are determined to seize World Cup 78 as a springboard back to WCC respectability by finishing above their pot placement in the group. Only a year or two removed from zir playing days as a midfield enforcer with the Palmettos and IFK Aldenskoett in Cosumar, Hardy has no managerial experience with which to navigate Qualifying. However, ze has always been a respected - even venerated - presence in the team, which should make it a smooth transition in the dressing room. Well, the fact that ze almost never speaks and is constantly shrouded in mystery and solemn contemplation might be a bit of a hurdle, but silly things like talking to the players are what assistant coaches are for! Hardy's job is to get effort and performance from an underachieving team that has grown extraordinarily lazy and complacent. Will zir presence be enough?

Assistant Manager: Alaina Westwest
Goalkeeping Coach: Kio Arabulle
Defense Coach: Donovan Buckles
Midfield Coach: Susi Cye
Strikers Coach: Milo Madlambayan
Fitness Coach: Rosafinka Madlambayan

Starting XI (4-2-3-1)

Goalkeeper | Altavian KALHORO | (28F - Port Patrick - Image)
Left Fullback | Shayla BRILLANT | (25F - FK Voluptamoro - Image)
Center Back | Tempest HONEYCUTT | (52F - Palmo Marbordo - Image)
Center Back | Marymar WHIRLOCK | (29F - Aleta Rozkoton - Image)
Right Fullback | Andressa FESTA | (27F - Northern Stallions - Image)
Hold Midfielder | Cynthia THATCHER | (31F - FK Arĝento Monto - Image)
Hold Midfielder | Jonni GYRI | (20 - Androgyne - Palmo Marbordo - Image)
Left Att. Midfielder | Lillian HATHOWAY (C) | (35F - Zakhoro Aces - Image)
Center Att. Midfielder | Kelvin LISCO | (21M - KT Moreazerua - Image)
Right Att. Midfielder | Tuki POHTUCA | (23 - Genderfluid - Androtus Image)
Center Forward | Salgin ORDRUVOR | (26M - Cenial Liberty - Image)

Kelvin Lisco is the key player here. He is essentially a product of Audioslavian development, having moved there at 14, and is thus immune to many of the trappings typically associated with Sarrs (laziness, lack of discipline, all style no finish). He is one of the few current Sarrs who have escaped Meridian Rushmore and carved a place in a legitimate league abroad, along with solid Port Patrick goalkeeper Altavian Kalhoro, respected Härlighet Ligan journeywoman Lillian Hathoway and a couple others. With Lisco, Hathaway and Tuki Pohtuca (the next young Sarr earmarked for a move abroad) lining up together, the creative attacking midfield is the definite strength of the side. In other areas, the Palmettos look... less professional. Middle-aged defender Tempest Honeycutt remains a baffling inclusion year-after-year.

Substitutes

Goalkeeper | Gulbrand CARDINI | (36M - FK Malibog - Image)
Defender | Hung NGUYEN-NUGENT | (20M - FK Arĝento Monto Image)
Defender | Kimbra YAMAMOTO | (37F - Safiro Rivero - Image)
Defender | Marco FENOGLIO | (27M - Strava Exankalla - Image)
Defender | Jess KUTLER | (30F - Bergeron Image)
Hold Midfielder | Magdalena BELLADONNA | (22F - Jombouli Kunigitaj - Image)
Hold Midfielder | Adam WOJCNIK | (28M - Pnembli Lago - Image)
Att. Midfielder | Sohyun KANG | (33F - Pardock Island - Image)
Att. Midfielder | Kai CASTRANOVA | (24 - Nonbinary - Malton UrboImage)
Att. Midfielder | Mohinder MISRA | (36M - Capiciam Kunigitaj - Image)
Forward | Angela ARROWAY | (29F - FK Wyypuli - Image)
Forward | Dmytro KUROSAWA | (38M - AFK Fendo (Player-Coach) Image)

The player to watch out for on the bench is tall center forward Dmytro Kurosawa. He may be 38 and a little pudgier in the middle than he used to be, but he still has that killer instinct for goal. Watch out for him coming on late in games. Universally recognized as one of the top three Sarrbian players of all-time, he is a club legend at both AC Holmenkollen and Crawford City FC in Cosumar and Sarrbia's record goalscorer in a foreign league. This may be his last tournament with Sarrbia, as he has already somewhat transitioned into a coaching role at neighboring New Sirain's tiny AFK Fendo. Sohyun Kang, who was the top scorer in Cosumar's third division a couple seasons ago (Bronze Boot), could also provide some danger. The rest of the depth is sourced domestically from Ligo Premiere, the modest league of Sarrbia and New Sirain.

RP Permissions & Other Notes

Have fun. Maybe don't kill everyone. At least not all at once. Or do. That's fine too.

RP Pointers
Makongo won the Wide Enness Ocean regional championships to qualify for the World Cup, but missed the Baptism of Fire and almost missed the World Cup due to mismanagement of the registration process: they are not good administrators.

All players are available for free transfers to domestic leagues abroad - they will sign for clubs in associations registered with the UICA only - TG Bonesea if you are interested.

Feel free to TG me for additional info or RP ideas.

Team Line-up

Starting XI: Hook (GK), Donaldson, Benitez, Breuer, McClelland, Kyrow, Greeves, Vine, Brown, Miller, Kennedy

Formation
4-2-3-1

Head Coach: Adam Johnson
After the retirement of Joric Ruskin following the 76th World Cup, the Barunian Football Association struggled to find a replacement. With none yet found, and the Independents Cup looming, they put out a call to Adam Johnson, coach of the West Bay Mariners in Barunia's X-League. Johnson made it to the semi-finals of his first tournament, and despite a rocky World Cup 77 Qualifier, took the team to their second ever final, coming second in Cup of Harmony 69.
NB: As is typical of football teams in Barunia, the Suns do not have a manager. The Coach is responsible for managing the team.

Stadiums
Sun Stadium (National Stadium of Barunia), Porthaven - Capacity: 95,000
Ground will host: Farfadillis, Boring Paradise
Sun Stadium was built on the site of the old United Stadium, however it is not a renovation but a completely new building. Located in the national capital of Porthaven, Havenia state, the stadium was designed to be the home stadium of the Suns. This is evident in the seat patterning, which represents a yellow sun in a blue sky, and the golden "sunburst" roof. The stadium is multi-purpose too, creating a vibrant sports hub for the capital. During the World Cup, a party atmosphere will descend on the grounds around the stadium, as the national stadium will host the biggest match-ups of the tournament.

Memorial Stadium - Capacity: 100,000
Ground will host: Mriin, Polar Islandstates
It's been a long time coming for this upgrade to the Marion Hawk's home stadium. Originally intended to be named in honour of Hawks legend and national coach Joric Ruskin, the stadium name was changed at Ruskin's suggestion to honour all those who fought in the civil war. Memorial stadium is located in Edwardton, the capital of Marion state, and is shared by both the Marion Hawks and Edwardton Eagles, which has led to the nickname "The Birdcage". One of the newest stadiums in Barunia, Memorial stadium was built by Kytlerian company BNW Varin and features a retractable roof, 90,000 seats plus terraces, plenty of room for foreign media and large movable screens at the back of the top tier.

Bayview Stadium - Capacity 70,000
Ground will host: Loynn, Cheongji
Bayview Stadium is home to the West Bay Mariners, one of the powerhouses of Barunia's domestic league system. It is located in the town of Bayview, in the West Bay area of Tildos. The stadium is situated on a mountain overlooking Morgan Bay, and is considered to have one of the best views of any stadium in Barunia. However, all eyes will be turned to the centre of the pitch as Bayview hosts World Cup games for the first time.

Sam Garcia Field (Northport Sports Complex) - Capacity: 43,000
Ground will host: Juvencus, Buyan
Located in the city of Northport-San Baptise in the Northern Islands, this ground is the sacred heart of Barunian football. Located near the place where people first came to Barunia, San Baptiste island is considered the place where football began in this country. It's a ground known for firsts, hosting all home matches during the Suns inaugural World Cup campaign (due to it being the only safe ground during the civil war) and is the home of the San Baptiste Sea Lions, the first Barunian Football League championship team. Named in memory of former Sea Lions and Suns goalkeeper Sam Garcia, who died in a ferry crash that claimed hundreds of lives.
