This thread is designed to be like the Nationstates Trainers of the Global Economics and Trade forums. Since this thread was created, there have been many rushed low quality storefronts mixed with, and sometimes taking the business of, the real quality storefronts that took a very long time to create. Thus I, The Republic of United Gordonopia have decided to create the Nationstated Business School, an out of character thread designed to teach people old and new alike how to create a good storefront. This idea was well received when I posted an interest thread a few days ago, and I already have well qualified instructors.
Once you are assigned an instructor, I will have them contact you and you will decide together how you will be instructed; instant messenger, examples, over telegrams, or other ways.
The sections of this school are as follows:
Military Storefronts: Military Storefronts have long been one of the most popular storefront. This is where nations sell their military hardware to be used by the various nations who purchase from them. There are dozens, if not hundreds of threads relating to this kind of thread, and a very large number are what you could call "low quality". This school teaches how to create storefronts that sell technology from Modern Tech, Post Modern Tech, and Future Tech, and the finer points of designing hardware at each level.
Oil and Resources Storefronts: Oil and Resources are two things commonly found in threads throughout Nationstates. In Global Economics you stores selling things from oil, to uranium. In International Incidents, you see wars over oil. Resources are a huge commodity, and because of the profitability, many storefronts, both high and low quality are made. You will learn all the things you need to create a good and successful storefront in this category, from pricing to shipping.
Commercial Transportation Storefronts: Commercial Transportation ranges from cars, to boats, to commercial aircraft. There are many stores in this category, mainly centered on aircraft and automobiles. Unfortunately, even this less common sector is somewhat lacking in the quality of many stores. Here, you will learn about topics ranging from designing a good product, to marketing.
Special Storefronts: This category covers the wide range of storefronts that don't fit into the first three groups. Most popular right now are restaurants, although there are many other types. Common types include restaurants, television, banks, and mercenaries. This is perhaps the most low quality storefront, as many people roll out store after store of restaurants, banks, and more. Here you will learn how to create a quality business, and marketing, among others.
If you see a storefront that's low quality in your opinion, point the owner here. Help them out, don't blast them.
Examples of Quality Storefronts (will add more as I find examples):
VLT Automotive Group: Large, detailed, and all designed by the player. A storefront this good takes awhile to make.
Global Armaments: Small but detailed. All four designs are player created (not copied from real life) and are super detailed.
Etoile Arcture's Storefronts: Sequoia Weaponworks, Aerodyne, and Sequoia Land Systems. All three are super detailed. Some of the best weapon stores on the NS forums.
Vault 10's R2 Advanced Infantry Armament: This thing is amazing. He's got thousands, possibly tens of thousands, of words of text all about a single infantry rifle. If every storefront was like this, things would be a TON different.
Perim Nealon Regal Group: This is a civilian auto storefront that's the kind that more people should be able to make. There are many people who wouldn't possibly have time to create something like the R2, so this store is a good example of something most nations could make if they put some work into it.
