The Type-80B "Corona" Cruise Missile is a new missile meant to complement the larger "Meteorite" Cruise Missile. While the Type-80B has a designation that suggests it is only an upgrade of the existing Type-80, it is really a new design with the designation meant to give the appearance that is is not. When fired, the Type-80B quickly accelerates to a cruising speed of Mach 3.2 and a terminal speed of Mach 6.1. At the same time, it can fly at an altitude of up to 25 km. It is capable of being launched from ships and submarines from vertical launch systems. It can also be fired from ground launchers, both mobile and stationary, and large strategic bombers to give it increased versatility and allow it to be used for coastal defence. The wings of the Type-80B are folded when not in use and unfold as the missile is launched.

Like other Osean cruise missiles, the Type-80B is capable of being fitted with a wide variety of warheads. It can be fitted with a 450 kg high explosive warhead, 150 kt dial-a-yield nuclear warhead, 450 kg aerosoled chemical/biological weapon disperser, 4 fuel-air explosive sub-munitions or 22 canisters of BLU-97/B combined effects sub-munitions, 8 per canister. It has a number of different fuse settings, such as a armour-piercing and bunker-busting setting for the high explosive warhead and an air burst setting for the nuclear warhead.

The engine of the Type-80B is a air-breathing dual combustion ramjet that uses a liquid hydrocarbon fuel. This is combined with a solid rocket fuel booster for getting to the speeds required for the ramjet to work properly. The dual combustion ramjet is a complex design with two different air inlet systems, one for a ramjet and one for a scramjet. This means that the Type-80B's engine can operate as a conventional ramjet for supersonic speeds, or as a scramjet for hypersonic speeds. The maximum range of the Type-80B is 2,500 km.

In addition to this, when the Type-80B is launched in groups of four or more, at least one of the missiles will climb to a higher altitude, to make it harder to intercept, and designates targets while the others attack. The missiles are linked by data connections, forming a network. The missiles are able to differentiate targets, detect groups and prioritize targets automatically using information gathered during flight and types of ships and battle formations pre-programmed in an on-board computer. They will attack targets in order of priority, highest to lowest: after destroying the first target, remaining missiles will attack the next prioritized target.

For guidance, the Type-80B uses a combination of a active radar homing system and a LIDAR system. This system is laser based and provides more detail than radar. It is also not susceptible to the jamming systems used against radar. This is combined with the ability to send and receive information, like mid-course corrections. This can be with satellites, such as GLONASS, AWACS planes or ships. For Suppression of Enemy Air Defence(SEAD) missions, the Type-80B has a radiation homing system capable of locking onto the radar systems of enemy air defence systems. It also has an inertial guidance system as a backup for its other guidance systems.

The Type-80B is capable of performing in-flight maneuvers. This was demonstrated in one test where the missile pulled an S maneuver while flying at supersonic speeds. With this, the Type-80B is capable of evading enemy fire and makes it harder for the enemy to predict the course of the missile. The Type-80B has the ability to perform complex zigzagging maneuvers having been demonstrated in tests. With the command guidance system, this also means that the Type-80B is capable of being redirected to new targets.

The Type-80B's design, like that of the "Meteorite", gives it a slight reduction in it's radar cross section compared to what a missile the size of the Type-80B would normally have. Also, the systems of the Meteorite are programmed to be capable of recognizing attempts at spoofing it, such as the launch of decoys, and ignoring them. The Type-80B also has a radar jammer. When fired in groups, which they often are, the missiles are capable of coordinating their jamming efforts to cover as many radar frequencies as possible. This means that a large group of Type-80B's are capable of blocking enemy radar systems in what is essentially a form of Barrage jamming. Often there will multiple missiles covering the same frequencies, to ensure redundancy in the jamming. The Type-80B also has an optronic countermeasure system, meant for jamming infrared guided missiles.

Introduction

The Admiral Nakhimov Class is the mainstay cruiser class of the Yaroslavian Navy.

Armament

The armament of this design starts with four 5.5 inch guns mounted in two dual turrets, one at the bow and another at the stern. This is followed by two Type 2 Vertical Launch Systems, each with a hundred cells and capable of firing a wide range of offensive and defensive missiles. There are, on the domestic model of this ship, six twin canisters for the Orlan cruise missile, three each side.

The last part of the missile armament consists of two quadruple cannisters for theMLSS-21 Advanced Multipurpose Missile. Since these are an item that the Federal Yaroslavian Navy can only use due to the purchase of domestic production rights from the designer, the export version does not include them and has in their place two quadruple cannisters of the SS-N-25 'Switchblade' anti-ship missile.

Osea is a northern country. With it's many northern settlements, it often has to deal with frozen rivers and seas. This is a particular problem for the Osean navy, as a number of it's ports are in northern waters and its ships frequently. Due to this, the Osean
navy has long maintained a force of well-designed ice breaking ships, with the Kolyma Class being the model presently used by the Osean Navy.

Belarus Class Cruiser (WIP)

Introduction

The Yaroslavian navy has in many ways prided itself on the fact that, unlike some navies, the Yaroslavian navy continues to deploy true cruisers rather than up-sized destroyers. These are however smaller than some of the heavy cruisers deployed by the navies of the world's nations. Yaroslavian cruisers are between both of these extremes. They are larger and better armed than the up-sized destroyers that some nations deploy as cruisers and cheaper than the larger heavy cruisers that are around, meaning that they can be deployed in greater numbers. The Belarus Class is but a continuation of these traditions for the new Yaroslavian navy. Also, following a recent trend in Yaroslavian ship building, the class has both a domestic version and a export version, with the differences mentioned in the following paragraphs when they are relevant.

Armament

Another trend, one older than the trend mentioned in the last paragraph, is one of giving Yaroslavian ships a heavy armament. First, it has a gun armament of two dual turrets for 5.5 inch dual purpose electro-thermal guns, one placed forward and one placed aft of the ship. Also included is a heavy missile armament, giving it an advantage in combat. The first part is the six quadruple canisters for the "Meteorite-B" anti-ship cruise missile. These large missiles are capable of terminal Hypersonic speeds and making in flight manuevers are equipped with an active stealth system and have an extremely long range.

The next part of the Belarus's offensive missile punch is it's two 100 cell Type 2 Vertical Launch Systems. The cells for these launchers can be loaded with a wide variety of offensive and defensive missiles, ranging from SAMs to long range cruise missiles. Due to the modular design of the Type 2 VLS, with differently sized 10 cell modules for a wide variety of missiles, there is only one real issue, as far as the capabilities of the VLS are concerned. This is the size of the cells, with the largest modular cells only being able to take missiles with a maximum height of 11 metres. The last part of the Belarus's offensive missile armament are four quadruple canisters for the quadruple MLSS-21 Advanced Multipurpose Missile, the export version, which are meant for close range engagement. The export version instead has the same amount of canisters for the SS-N-25 'Switchblade' ASM, for the same purpose.

The Belarus Class also has a modern combination of active and passive defensive system to protect it from attack. The active protection system is a combination of SAM missiles, launched from both dedicated launchers and the vertical launch systems, and CIWS systems. This system of defence combines Kashtan Gun Missile Launchers with SeaRam Launchers, Goalkeeper CIWS and the S-300 missiles included in the VLS loadout.


Electronic Systems (WIP)



The passive defensive systems consist of numerous countermeasure launchers and the ship's Type 4 Electronic Warfare Suite. The Type 4 Electronic Warfare Suite gives the ship a significant boost in it's passive defensive systems, with it including both jamming systems and wireless systems for linking the radars of multiple ships and coordinating their defensive fire.

The Belarus has a crew of 647 crewmen and officers. It also has a complement of helicopters and inflatable boats to help it in these duties, with the helicopters being also useful for anti-submarine warfare. To further boost its capabilities, the Belarus Class has a small vertical launch system for Sukhoi "Sky Eye" reconnaissance UAVs. These UAV's both provide ship's of the Belarus Class with reconnaissance capabilities for the ship and those in any formation it might be in, but also provide long range targeting data for the long ranged cruise missiles deployed on Yaroslavian ships.
