Overview:
Following the collapse of the Novikov’s nationalist government and subsequent surrender to the United Kingdom of Azazia, the Novikovian military – relegated to a Self Defense Force – was placed under serious arms limitations. While the Novikovian-Azazian war showed a serious deficit in infantry anti-tank weapons, these limitations effectively removed any prospect of filling the gap with a new RPG or ATGM system (the Self Defense Force is limited to surplus RPG-7’s, and a small number of Milan ATGMs.) In an attempt to help provide maximum firepower against hard targets without violating Azazian regulations, Novikov’s major arms manufacturer, the NNApO (Novikovian National Defense Agency) designed the P18 Anti-Material Rifle.

The P18 Anti-Material Rifle is a 20mm, manually operated, bolt action weapon. The system is based on the little-known Croatian RT-20 design, and incorporates many elements of the aforementioned design, including its unique counter-recoil tube. The system is designed to be man-portable and to equip a portion of Novikovian marksmen. It fires the venerable 20x106mm cartridge which formerly equipped some light anti-aircraft weapons in Novikovian service. With a barrel 50 calibers in length (1.000mm), the weapon is capable of propelling its 125g projectile to a speed of over 880m/s, giving it a penetration of roughly 21.5mm RHA and making it well capable of damaging military transports, as well as light armored vehicles and low-flying aircraft.

The price for this penetration is paid in greatly increased recoil. Attempts to lessen recoil and thereby increase accuracy largely focus around the unique counter-recoil tube mounted over the barrel. This creates a significant danger of back blast, and also limits the weapon’s usefulness in concealed locations because the dust raised often reveals the user’s position. Additional counter-recoil devices include a muzzle brake and bipod.

While Virabia may not have a military, we do have private contractors. That's where Brigg and Sons steps in.
