_{The original Pelano's in 1936}

It all started with Alfonso "the Don" Pelano. In the early 1930s, after emigrating to what is today mainland Dexterra with nothing but the clothes on his back, Don Pelano supported his family by working as a chef in different kitchens. But wanting to enliven the national palate with his own authentic tastes of home, in 1933 Don Pelano opened his own restaurant named Pelano's, which struggled for several years until finding its niche as a pizzeria. In 1942, Pelano's expanded to a second location, although this location closed after three years due to dwindling profits. As a last ditch effort to keep his restaurant afloat, Don Pelano eventually decided to rebrand with a new name and an expanded menu, and in 1946, Cheesus Crust was born.

The rebrand eventually proved a success. Cheesus Crust began turning a profit throughout the 1950s, and by 1970, it had established itself as a renowned pizzeria, although Don Pelano refused to expand to new locations after his experiences in the 1940s. Cheesus Crust then added delivery and catering options, followed by a second menu expansion that included pasta and subs. By the time Don Pelano passed away in 1984, Cheesus Crust had become touted by food critics and business associations nationwide as the nation's number 1 pizzeria.

This status has persisted into the 21st century, where today Cheesus Crust maintains a household name as well as a foothold in popular culture after being featured in numerous award-winning films and television shows such as Mythic Pizza, Teenage Mutant Ninja Tortoises, the Pizzeria Show, Alone at Home for Christmas and more. Currently, Cheesus Crust is headed by Don Pelano's grandchildren, primarily Alfonso "the Grand Don" Pelano III (who often makes pizzas himself), although according to eco-socialist laws in Dexterra, Cheesus Crust is owned and operated by all of the workers.

In accordance with federal law, all animal products - from our fresh mozzarella to our cupped pepperoni - are lab-grown locally. And our plant-based products - from the grains in our crispy caramelized crust and homemade ciabatta to our scrumptious eggplant or crunchy bell peppers - are all sourced from local farms. Finally, all profits are donated to Universal Basic Income funding as well as affordable housing both in the Greater Beagalia Area.
