MTT-5 "Arakan" (Saint) is a brand new USV (unmanned surface vehicle) developed by Sumida Motors. The vehicle is meant for patrolling, screening larger surface combatants, as well as swarming enemy ships.
- Lenght of the vehicle is 16 meters.
- Displacement of the vehicle is 9 tons empty, 11 at full combat load.
- Propulsion is provided by a 250HP Kojima disesl engine.
- The engine is linked to a waterjet.
- To reduce the boat's thermal signature, the exhaust of the engine is located underwater.
- Maximum speed 70km/h.
- Combat range 400 kilometers.
- The hull is made from high quality composite materials.
- The design reduces the amount of flat surfaces, thus reduceing the radar signature and making the boat harder to detect.
- Centrally mounted mast features the mission control computer and the sensors.
- The vehicle is controlled via a KU-band satellite datalink.
- The command center is located in a van connected to a satellite dish, allowing for swift location change.
- A station can control up to 4 vehicles at once and is crewed by 4 men.
- Possibility of operation in both autonomous mode or in direct control mode.
- An automatic system capable of detecting jamming and automatically redirecting the vehicle away from the jamming zone.
- Automatic stabilisation system allowing the vehicle to swim even when it has sustained damage.
- Advanced AI based algorythms to support the vehicle when operating in autonomous mode.
- The autonomous mode can operate in heavy EW environment, with the vehicle realising missions prieviously assigned by the operator.
- A mast mounted EO unit featuring night and thermal vision, capable of effectively spotting targets up to 10km away. The unit is linked to a laser target designator and rangefinder.
- A mast mounted air and surface search radar capable of spotting targets at 15 km away. The radar operates on I band and can track 25 targets at once.
- Weather and navigation radar + meteorological unit.
- Up to 2000 kilograms mission payload.
- Possibility to integrate ELINT and EW equipment as well as sonars.
- Weapons options include:
* 8x Type 2011 missile allowing engagement of enemy targets up to 25 km away.
* 8x Kanshon Loitering Munitions
* A 121mm automatic, breech loading mortar.
* 4x 320mm torpedoes.
* A 32mm automatic gun.
- A 13.2mm HMG with 500 rounds.
- This boat can be operated from a variety of ships.
