Background: The 'Vel' Aeroballistic Missile Initiative
Following a period of significant commercial success in the defense sector, facilitated by the robust sales network of Allanean Defense Exports, a strategic partnership was forged between Allanean Arms and the Imerian Merchants Guild. This collaboration was aimed at addressing a critical requirement identified by the Greater Prussian Joint Forces: the development of a unified, tactical hypersonic aeroballistic missile system, versatile enough to be deployed from both surface and air platforms with minimal modifications.
The culmination of this joint venture is the introduction of the 'Vel' missile system, designated in Imerian service as the Langande Sjalvbedriven Granat mark 3 (LSG-3), translating to 'Long-range Self-Propelled Shell, Mark 3'. This system represents a significant advancement in munitions technology, offering unparalleled commonality across different launch platforms. The ground-launch variant of the 'Vel' is compatible with a range of Multiple Rocket Launch Systems (MRLS) including the Manticore, Whirlwind, and Blizzard, requiring only a change in the rocket pod and launch software for operation. Additionally, the Allanean Arms Obrez container launcher presents an alternative deployment solution. The air-launch variant, distinguished by a specialized launch cone, further extends the 'Vel's' operational flexibility, enabling it to be launched from fast-moving jet aircraft.
Technology:
The 'Vel' LSG-3 missile is engineered as a solid-fuel, aeroballistic missile capable of exceeding Mach 10 speeds, making it a formidable challenge to intercept. Its design ensures that the missile's trajectory is largely independent of the launcher's orientation, providing significant tactical advantages in rapid deployment scenarios.
Guidance for the 'Vel' is primarily provided through SATNAV systems, ensuring precision engagement of stationary targets. In environments where SATNAV signals are compromised, the missile's inertial guidance system takes precedence, ensuring reliability under electronic warfare conditions. The 'Vel' also offers a synthetic aperture radar variant, specifically designed for anti-ship engagements, highlighting its adaptability to a wide range of operational requirements.
This strategic partnership between Allanean Arms and the Imerian Merchants Guild, resulting in the 'Vel'-3 LSG-3 missile system, marks a significant milestone in the evolution of hypersonic munitions, offering a versatile and highly effective solution to the modern battlefield's demands.
Warhead variants: The Vel aeroballistic hypersonic missile further enhances the firepower of ground, naval, and air forces by providing several warhead options.
Unitary: 500 kg HE warhead, carrying 250 KG of polymer-bound explosives, equipped with a tri-mode (point detonating, proximity, and delay) fuze.
Cluster: 750 dual-use APAM bomblet
Penetrator: 500 kg steel/tungsten penetrator, capable of piercing up to 16 meters of reinforced concrete.
DPR terms: By ordering Domestic Production Rights for this product, your nation will receive the right to produce this weapon system for its domestic use, as well as assistance from Allanean Arms representatives in setting up its production. Moreover, the purchase includes 1,000 Vel missiles of different types to be used while production is set up.
