Background: As part of the Greater Prussian Anti-Submarine Warfare Initiative, grants have been made available by Greater Prussian leadership both from Greater Prussian and Allanean budgets, to develop a series of weapons to protect Greater Prussian at shore and at sea from a broad spectrum of attacks. As a result of this initiative, companies in a range of Greater Prussian member states have proposed not only sensors but weapons systems intended to engage the various threats.

In light of the increase in threats to ports, shore facilities and civilian infrastructure from divers, UUVs, and minisubmarines, as well as long-range enemy torpedo attacks, it would become necessary to develop a specialized shore defense weapon that would efficiently defend against those threat profiles.

To fit this requirement, Rythar Industries of the Serene Republic of the High Treefolk had proposed a brutally simple solution: a 220 mm rocket, capable of being fired from the existing Whirlwind Heavy MLRS, the Blizzard Medium MLRS, as well as the Lyran Arms Cockatrice and Manticore rocket system, it would deliver approximately 500 depth charges, detonating at a variety of depths and over a wide area. (The detonation depth is programmed into the fuze system before launch).

Technology: The rocket carries a series of small, 200-gram submunitions, each carrying a load of Allanean Marine Mix (a mix of RDX, TNT, aluminum, and ceresin), all connected to a single core within the rocket. Through this, they receive final pre-launch setting (the operator will select a range of depths based on the threat profile, and the system will automatically program different charges for different depths, for example, during a diver attack it might be wise to set the charges to detonate at depths of 5 through 60 meters).

Detonation depths of up to 350 meters are available, which is deemed sufficient for harbor and anti-diver defense, as harbor defense is typically a phenomenon of relatively shallow waters, and human SCUBA divers have not been known to dive deeper than 330 meters.

Upon receiving the target coordinates (for example, from a hydrophone array, sonar, or patrol aircraft), the operator launches the rocket at the coordinates. The rocket then detonates over the target, sowing out the depth charges, which enter the water and detonate in rapid succession. Unlike submunitions used on dry land, the depth charges are designed to minimize fragmentation and maximize explosive power, with the intent of engaging the targets with the blast wave.

This results in a reliable, rapidly deployable solution that will allow any country with a pre-existing park of 220 mm MRLS to defend their shores and bays from a range of threats.
